Hey Inside The Magic!
Just to add a little context to this story… I live not 5 minutes from this amazing theme park and it is a beloved part of our community. The park is completely inaccessible at this time due to downed trees and powerlines. We had hurricane force winds in a place that is not rated for those types of wind speeds with trees that are as tall as the coasters and older than the park being tossed onto houses all along all routes to the park.
I believe the trees were finally cleared from the roads today and crews from 7 different states have been working to restore power to the 56,000 people in my county without.
So, no… Cedar Fair did not chose to close their park. Michigan’s Adventure was listening to local law enforcement while keeping their staff safe (they will have a MESS to clean up once they are cleared to go back).
Oh, they also allowed their giant parking lot to be used by Consumers Energy and local law enforcement as a staging area for cleanup efforts… so while it stinks that vacationers couldn’t enter a park without power… people lost their homes and it was a pretty dangerous situation for locals. Please show some respect
