I am really getting sick and tired of everyone calling Elemental a flop! Yes, it did not rake in a billion but it did do 500 million plus it was the one of the best shows on streaming. It may have not been the darling of all the critics and internet trolls but to hell with them. It was a good movie and I hope some where down the line they do a sequel or Disney sells Pixar off to a company that is less money grubbing and can take a 500 million dollar movie or has a add department that can actually push a movie like they are doing with Inside Out 2!
It’s not quite as cut and dry as “quick cash grab sequels” being their lazy approach to movie sequels. Inside Out 2 has become the top grossing movie of 2024. Of note, the next 4 top grossing movies are all sequels.
As for original titles like Migration or even Wonka who come in 11th and 13th it’s not even close.
Inside Out 2 (so far) is at 285M. Migration came in at just 73M. The movie business is after all… A business and they will go where the market tells them to go. And to be fair… We’ve been voting on direction by what we support at the theatres.
If you want theatres to take chances we will have to start taking chances at the theatres.
Not sure what happened to my first post but to say it again I am tired of everyone calling Elemental a flop!! It was a good movie if it would have been advertised as much as Inside Out 2 it probably would have made it too a billion and the critics and there troll internet buddies be damned! It made close to 500 million and it was tops in streaming after it’s release to that venue! So Stop calling it a flop! I hope we get a sequel or something to at least finish the story line in the near future.
It was all.over the place in advertising. TV YouTube I couldn’t get away from it. The problem was it’s really just a ok movie that’s been done before. Plus people haven’t liked what Pixar and disney were doing forcing things that are not needed for the shake of putting it there. The kiss in lightyear plus the change in the story of lightyear as well. Plus with the mess Disney did with strange worlds as well people aren’t to quick to go see thi gs right away now
I find it funny that it’s thought that just because “social media” says that something will fail, or that this is going to destroy a company, that it’s often automatically taken as set in stone. Have we learned nothing over the years? It’s SOCIAL MEDIA… It’s basically a person’s opinions not some future telling forum.
I’m sorry, but there’s more that don’t know the industry, than those that do. And if someone starts bragging about how they know this and that about why this is going to end the studio, 9 of 10 times.. your full of it.
Movie studios need to go where the industry has potential. And just because people are getting too comfortable ín “demanding” what they want, and not what works, well… You can see where this is going I hope.
Let the production studios do what they need, and instead of immediately taking to a social platform and start a rant about it negatively, how about wait and see if it’s WORTH ranting over?
You say that but fans keep telling marvel and Lucas films what they want but they keep making the garbage they have here lately saying the fans need to change. Lost money on acolyte lost money on marvels lost money on antman and Wasp quantamanium thor love and thunder. Because the dei has to be there and they change characters people grew up with or know lore to and they wonder why the fan majority don’t show up. Then say we are toxic hateful people but yet they have no care for the feelings of the fans that got them there
Your comment would give a teacher a migraine, to be honest. Whatever reason you felt was necessary to act like some Grammar Police, when it’s not even warranted, well… You really need to find yourself something better to do, than sit there and judge peoples English. If it affects you that badly, then perhaps a break from the internet is needed. Stop being petty. This is a discussion about the future regarding Pixar, not 3rd grade homeroom.
As said before Elemental was not a flop! I must live on a different planet because there little to no advertising here! not as much as Inside Out 2! I never even saw the McDonald’s toy until they popped up on ebay. I will admit it was not a movie for everybody but neither is inside out. I never liked the first one and have no interest in the second one but it was better than having a villain trying to kill someone or steal something(Like Wish). I still believe it deserves a sequel or Disney+ show or something because one thing I really hate is when a story line in left in-complete!
Times are tough at the mouse’s house. Disney for the sake of maintaining payroll and bonuses have decided to move away from true creativity. This will eventually hurt their growth and status in the industry. Their market has changed dramatically over the past 20 years and they need fresh young talent at the top. Remember (before the mouse) it all started with a young artist (who was an amazing story teller & risk taker) and a dream. There will always be another artist with a dream coming in the future.

I think Pixar has the right to do a mix of sequels and original ideas for sure.

I actually liked Inside Out 2 better than the original, although I did really miss the voices of Mindy Kaling and Bill Hader.

Do they even teach English in schools anymore? Every one of these comments would give an elementary teacher a migraine.
