When registering, front desk never mentioned anything 😑

    1. Dave

They don’t. Only real complaint I consistently have. Whenever they close early they post signs out front & on website & expect you to double check a few days before going. Happens more than you think.

      1. Mary

This should have been done weeks ago. Most Disney Guests make their reservations months in advance and Disney knew about this event at least a year ago or mire. The D of D did not just come in and say ” we are taking over the park for the day” that didn’t happen.

        1. Christine

Yeah, & the guy who wrote this is not as great a Disney fan as he claims. He said the guests can go to other parks like Animal Kingdom when the Magic kingdom closes early at 7pm 😒—They cannot go to Animal kingdom- that one closes in the evenings!

          1. MARK

Of all the places the government owns, this just shows how ignorant people can be. I support the service big time but what ever this is its just pure scum bags. Im very big on Disney World and if this was during a day with my son I’d like to see them keep me out, I enjoy a good time especially if it’s a bully and that’s just how this sounds. Now if Disney knew of this they’d be forking over more than a day in return for screwing up my day of fun.

        2. Frank

The notice has been on their web site for at least 6 months.
Also this is NOT the first time a news outlet has reported this

      2. Flowesha

I think these people aren’t mad at what you think they are mad about

    2. David

Stop complaining and thank a veteran for your freedom to go to Disney World

      1. Kay More

        Amen!

        1. Rod

I think it’s great that our soldiers can have some time to relax and enjoy Disney park Disney needs to give some perks for the early closing I think they should do the same for first responders. They’re serving our country each and every day on the streets of our cities towns and country sides.

          1. Albert

Serving our country?, No disrespect While I believe they too should get recognized, First Responders are not the same as our US Military. I have served both. It is two different ask. The cost is also just a bit different. I am grateful for both
            .

          2. Susan G Northcutt

Actually they are not relaxing. It’s training

        2. Kate

Amen! Everyone is so selfish. Be happy you’re in the happiest place on earth and go to the hotel pool early.

      2. Lynn Jones

They didn’t pay for the tickets! I’m not thanking them for anything!

        1. Tmhtim

They paid more for there ticket , than you ever thought about !!!!

        2. Ashlee

They paid for more than the tickets. Some of them are on bill chairs. Some of them don’t have their arms some of them can’t move at all.Oh so yeah, they didn’t pay for your chicken lady. They paid with their body if there lives so you can get your ticket.

        3. Alonso

What an ungrateful fool. These are INJURED and DISABLED military members and vets. It’s ok… we serve the grateful AND ungrateful alike.

        4. Wayne

How about you go fuck yourself then

        5. Mel

You should be thanking them for a lot. It’s because of men and women like them that you get to go to Disney in a free country. They gave up a lot just so you can have that privilege.

        6. Gregory Santana

When are you leaving for Russia since you don’t appreciate sleeping safely every night since your born.

        7. Christopher Wadsworth

Exactly because if there was a ticket price equivalent for what they went through it would far exceed the ticket price that you could never pay. It’s called giving gratitude to them because it’s something you would never volunteer for.

        8. P R

They also paid for your right to have that entitled attitude.

      3. Mel

Absolutely, try and remember that freedom is not free. These are men and women that for one reason or another have been injured while serving to protect the US. Many in wheelchairs or have other physical disabilities, doesn’t hurt anybody for them to have a few hours to enjoy the magic kingdom, especially without people, staring, and talking. I guarantee you they didn’t just come in and they were taking over the park. This has been planned way in advance.
I’m very supportive for these veterans.

    3. KDucey

Exactly. Just be quiet & patient. With 🩵 from TPA

    4. Ann

I work at the front desk and they typically don’t tell us these things without us having to look ourselves

    5. Bob

Open your heart ♥ think for a minute. To bad for your inconvenience with your trip plans.
These brave Men and Women volunteer to serve this Country, defend our freedom at all costs. There lives changed for ever in doing so. The less you can do is Happy changed your plans and set an example for your children. Thank them for their Srevice. God bless them.

  2. Antonio

First thing to do is to provide a prorated admission ticket refund for every guest who visits today and paid full admission for a whole day of Disney experience. The refund should be equivalent to the regular missed hours of the day.

    1. Kimberly

I get full refund of today’s visit to the park. But why pro-rated? Where does hat come in?

      1. Steve

So you get to go in for eleven hours and enjoy yourself. That has value. They take 2 hours. That has value. So you get a five dollar refund for the 2 hours. They shouldn’t have to pay for the 11hours you enjoyed yourself.

        1. Coru

Dude park hours vary for these events all the time. This isn’t ‘the government shutting down the park’, it’s Disney renting it out. AGAIN, this happens ALL THE TIME. Usually it’s a corporation, and they do get announced in advance.

          1. Exactly!
They always state that hours may change.

        2. Dave

No, they expect you to check before you go. They won’t give you anything in return.

          1. Mark Goff

So the people that are whining about the park being closed tomorrow. Are you saying that you don’t feel the people who protect our freedoms and families don’t deserve a day to themselves? WOW!

        3. Elisabeth

These are disabled veterans who deserve so much more than just one evening at Magic Kingdom. Besides, this is no different than the park closing early for Not so Spooky Halloween or the Christmas party, etc. A very small inconvenience in support of those whose lives have been permanently altered to protect our freedom.

  3. Jen

This is one of the worst sites for disney news

    1. Jade VR

It’s not even considered to be a credible site anymore. It’s a joke to almost everyone now.

      1. Chris

They should just cut to the chase and openly admit they actually hate Disney. I’m just here for the comments pointing out this fact.

  4. me

This happens many times during the year. Anyone with a brain would look at the Park times calendar, and see that the park is closing early. then it would not be a surprise!

    1. Joy

Thank you for saying that. I am a Disney Passholder. Disney, and Universal, close early all year due to private events..

      1. Marie

I’ve been going to Disney since they opened. Also a pass holder and shareholder. Why should these parks close for private events? People pay big money for those tickets….sometimes saving for years. And who cares if it’s “on a calendar”….if someone only has so many vacation days and don’t have a choice when they can take them, it IS a big deal.

Want a private party at Disney? Fine….book a restaurant. But the entire park shouldn’t have to close to others, because of someone’s money and/or clout.

        1. Steve

You stated you were a Disney shareholder. What are you trying to tell us about money and clout?? Take it up at the next shareholder meeting..if you have enough shares to actually be invited.

        2. Plan better. Do your homework!

        3. Dave

All the time for private events is a stretch. What’s much more often is closing early for special events where you actually need to buy an extra ticket for.

        4. Amy

Listen to how selfish you sound. These are center and who served our country!

          1. Amy

            Ooops veterans

  5. Kimberly

This is really no surprise at all. And besides are there not other parks we can visit today instead and save magic kingdom for another day when you can experience it’s “true magic” all day long? We didn’t sign any contract when we made our plans/ purchased our passes that stated we would/could only travel to certain parks on certain days. Therefore, our schedules are pretty much open for change.

  6. Marie

Nice….let’s just forget about people who paid big bucks for tickets and may have saved for years for this visit with their family.

    1. Steve

Everyone buys big tickets. Never heard of a way to get in for less. So no one is being forgotten. If you failed to check the resort calendar, that’s on you, not Disney.

    2. David

Thank a veteran for there service so you could spend big bucks on a frivolous vacation

      1. Whatever

Realistically, they didn’t do much of anything for me. I still respect them, but I’m not going to thank them for something they didn’t do.

        1. Amy

You make yourself sound like a hypocrt

        2. SB

Wow.. there are some ignorant comments on this list… but you are king stupid of selfish trash humans. Kill yourself for all our benefit you scum sucking POS

        3. Hal

Yeah, you probably won’t thank mom and dad for letting you live in the basement and feeding you Cheetos Puffs either, petulant ingrate.

    3. Hal

Yes, it would be much more appropriate to forget about these warriors, who paid with arms and legs, you whining ingrate!

  7. Thomas

But the socialist government can do anything they want, that’s how socialism works! I personally don’t care, as I went before “woke “was invented, and will not likely ever go again.

    1. Simplejack

Someone’s been watching too much fox news

      1. Mike

        Well said

    2. Frank

This has nothing to do with the government.
This is an organization for disabled veterans.

Notification has been on Disney’s website for at least six months

WTF does “woke” have to do with this? Triggered much?

  8. Julie

As a Air Force veteran I raised my hand to defend our USA from all foreign and domestic. Would u do the same?

    1. David

Yes. As a USN Veteran, I did…and I’d do it again if called upon.

    2. Steve

      She’s a shareholder Julie.

SAC MAC TAC..go boys and girls!

      Thank you for helping!

    3. Mike

This has nothing to with government using their so called power. It is a group, just like other groups, that book this way in advance. It is on the calendar. You had probably a year or so to book your trip. It’s your fault not Disneys. Stop winning, Disney does owe you a thing. Disney closes early a lit for special events.

    4. David

Thank you for your service so that I may enjoy Disney World even if is on limited hours.

  9. Keri

For part of September and ALL of October Magic Kingdom closes early for the “Not So Scary” Halloween so I’m not so sure why closing 2 hours early for a VETERANS event for soldiers who have given themselves to serve our country and have been wounded because of it, is such a bother. Anyone who wants to bitch about giving that time to men and women who are braver than all of us put together, should be ashamed of yourselves.
Disney used to be a big military and veterans supporters and that has severely waned over the past decade, so I’m very happy and willing to give up those TWO HOURS for our men and women of the Military!!

  10. karen wilder

I think they closed the park for a private event because they want to bring more attention to it… Life does go on after an injury like this. My niece is quadriplegic, however, the fact that these poor guys have to live like this for the rest of their lives for absolutely no reason at this point. They weren’t over seas defending our democracy. They were overseas defending our use of oil. They were used as ponds in a game by rich white men these games are tiny glimpse into one day. The rest of the year is hell. Trust me I see it everyday

  11. Tiffany

I personally like going to MK on days that they close early for events. So many people change their plans to avoid having a short park day which means the park stays fairly empty and most rides are walk ons. The only reason I would change is if I was only going to MK once and I wanted to see the fireworks. If you have another MK day to see fireworks, or if you don’t care about the fireworks then it is the perfect day for MK as you will be able to do more in the shortened day than in a full busy day.

  12. Michael

Things like this should be scheduled. The Government is nobody special to close a park for themselves and affect everyone else’s PLANNED vacation!!!!

    1. David

But the veterans who lost limbs are so pay some respect.

    2. Amy

They served our country! They were keeping us that were at home safe. I am a veteran’s wife. You have no idea what they have been through. Quit your complaining. If you have problems go serve our country.

    3. Frank

It is NOT a government event
It is an organization for disabled veterans
It has been on Disney’s website for at least 6 months if not longer

      1. M

Oh! Great, I would love that for them. I just hope it’s true. Something as important as that would be scheduled way in advance so I hope there isn’t another reason. I served for 27 years and this never happened. Makes me suspicious sadly

  13. Bob

Thanks to the wounded vets that this event is hosting. Line up and applaud.

  14. Wingster

You pay a lot of money for this?

  15. RC

The military, the government nor Disney rarely deal in last minute planning and scheduling. The Department of Defense Warrior Games, I believe is an annual event. Disney should have known well enough in advance to have to not only blocked off those days, but to have been able to to send out announcements and notifications so that on going pass Holders and new customers could make attempt to make other arrangements. It would be curious to know how much money Disney fetched at the expense of it’s public.

  16. Dave

Whatever…. This was NOT the government. This is a private profit making event. Blame the Disney management not the DOD

    1. David

How about going and supporting those who gave limbs for your freedom to complain

  17. Burt

    How is this news worthy???

    Emmanuel – get a life.

  18. Whenever these clowns blow balloons, it makes them happy. But whenever they feel gas, pressure, and bloating, it makes them sad. TUMS doesn’t treat gas. Neither does Mylanta or Rolaids. Gas-X is the only anti-gas medicine to relieve gas fast. Wanna blow balloons again? UGH! OOOH! Gas-X beats the bloat fast.

  19. Dan Hatcher

The wording that leads you to think total closure is so cheap. You are the new cheap, fake National Enquirer!

  20. Help me

I picture whoever wrote this as an angsty 14 year old boy with feathered hair and a hoody drinking a prime and hollering “onnnn gahhddd bruh” while trying to finish his book report that has to be 500 words and he’s only got 200 so he repeats full sentences over and over sometimes in a different order.
And stop trying to stir up drama!

  21. Phil

How can the government have a private event. Isn’t it your money that’s being spent?

  22. Flowesha

Anyone else just clicking on this site to see the tea in the comments?

    1. Nabi

Yup. So much entitled and ungrateful people …WOW!!

  23. Tonymelt

If they had not announced it nobody would have noticed it was closed.

  24. SOMETHING VERY STRANGE IS GOING ON WITH our government and military. This has never happened before. Very concerning!!
