I think that would be a big mistake, things of all sorts will happen with kids and fines is not the way to go !

    1. Deb

He didn’t ban balloons. He banned intentionally releasing them. Don’t spread lies.

      1. Jon

This site and their readers don’t care about facts. They are engaging in falsehoods and smears on purpose.

DeSantis get a life I’m a republican but I think you need to stop your personal rant and help the Republicans. These’s more than Disney in Orlando facing this country like the real truth.

    1. Robert

      You’re a Rino

    2. Charles Elias Disney II

Ron did help Republicans, he banned the intentional release of balloons, Statewide! Not just Disney! Ron is helping save wildlife and marine life! You are a RINO, Republican In Name Only!

    3. CJ

This is so dishonest. Disney was not targeted. This was about generally banning the release of balloons as a measure to protect wildlife/sealife.

    4. John

Law has nothing to do with DeSantis and Disney. It is about people intentionally littering, and think is fun/ cute

    5. Felicia

I totally agree. There are so many more important things he should be focused on

    6. Jon

So you are against helping the environment and reducing harm to wildlife?

  3. Bryan

Take responsibility for your kids Gary. All sorts of accidents can happen that parents are responsible for, this is just another. Quit your whining

He is not banning balloons. He is banning the release of balloons. This is to protect wildlife and the environment and has nothing to do with Disney specific. They can still sell balloons, they have weights to keep them from floating off. Disney has banned them from animal kingdom for the same reason. This is us a good thing.

      1. Lupe

But, let’s get real, balloons, every thing is hurting the environment these days. WAIT, HOLD YOUR BREATH, YOUR BREATHING IS HURTING THE ENVIRONMENT!

        1. Bert

          Don’t be a baby.

Actually I thought this might be one of the few law he dreams up that might be useful to but once again he hasn’t considered who is going to hunt down the offenders and hand out the tickets. It will be the rare family who cannot afford such an extreme amount but they will be the suckers that have to pay. Welcome to FL and the endless useless laws.

  5. Oh really

Funny how the left thinks it’s awesome to deface treasures like Mona Lisa and Stonehenge in protest, ban gas stoves and cow farts but not to take responsibility for their kids’ balloons to help preserve wildlife and the environment. Why? Because it came from a conservative. Who never said “don’t say gay”. Big difference between saying gay and teaching toddlers about cutting off their junk.

    1. Aunt Polly

So when did he actually say “don’t cut your junk off”? Where in the legislation was that phrase used?

I didn’t see any part of the article discussing the left’s attitude toward this new balloon law, so your rant is – forgive the wording – out of left field.

    2. Bart

      Please seek help.

    To “Oh Really”…

So let me get this “straight””, your comparing the release of a balloon to cutting off ones junk? Stray off topic much?

    1. If you bothered to read it all…
‘releasing ten or more balloons simultaneously ‘
      Ten
10 or more balloons released simultaneously

Now why is that a problem for anyone?

      1. Kg

Re read. The old law was 10 or more. The new law states 7 and older intentionally releasing 1 or more balloons.

  7. Joseph

It is a fine if done intentionally.. someone letting go of a balloon at Disney won’t be bothered by Ronnie… And c’mon do u think he will have someone watching everyone who buys a balloon… Oh wait I will take that job!!

  8. Richard

There are four things about this.
1.) This is NOT just a Disney thing it’s a state wide bill.
2.) It does not affect children 7 or under, so they will not get arrested.
3.) It not for accidentally balloon release, so if a child releases it accidentally the parent will not get arrested.
4.)let me know if 2024 is the year environmentally friendly is out. International Coastal Cleanup found a total of nearly 300,000 balloons along US coastlines.
This is from BBQs, birthdays, gender reveals, ect., not just from one lonely theme park.

You would think having concern for the environment would be a good thing. And yes, popped balloons are dangerous for wildlife including those in the oceans & lakes.

  9. Disney has a similar restriction at Animal Kingdom Lodge. You come back to the resort with your kids (who are carrying balloons) and the “Disney police” come up to you immediately and take your kids balloons away. They promise to give you a mylar balloon (flat, not blown up) to take home at the end of your vacation. They gave us 2 per kid at the end of our vacation. Thankfully our kids didn’t have a melt down when the castmember took their balloons away. Disney restricts the balloons at Animal Kingdom Lodge for the same reason–protecting wildlife

    1. Aerial

I would like a flat balloon to take home.
But, let’s get real, balloons, every thing is hurting the environment these days. WAIT, HOLD YOUR BREATH, YOUR BREATHING IS HURTING THE ENVIRONMENT!

      1. Bert

        You again….?!

  10. Anonymous

Wow, we have bigger issues with important adult things but he tackles balloons? 😂😂

  11. Robert

DeSantis is doing a great job. Disney doesn’t get to dictate to Florida. Forget all these bias articles you’re reading. We love our Governor
