Wow..can that even be legal? I am sure guests can walk out to the street/past the gate to get in the car but seriously, not allowing a friend to pick u up is crazy

It’s private property so Disney can set rules.

    2. DJ

It seems like once you get on property they don’t want you to be able to leave until your stay is over. The hell with staying there. Rent a house and pay the 30 for parking , you will find that its so much better. We have been renting the same place for 10 years. 4br, 3ba, pool and hot tub for less than 130 a night. To me its a no brainer.

Disney is no longer a magical vacation. It’s all about money. So the future seems to be looking uneventful. I’d rather do universal. They have safety in their interest without making vacations difficult or more costly. Walt is rolling in his grave

    3. Terry

I believe these new rules for drop off and pickups are totally ridiculous. They need to go back to the way it was.

  2. Cindy

Disney have out priced themselves even for those of us that are considered medium wage earners. I will go to Florida each year but go to other theme parks that are more reasonable. It’s too bad that Disney has come to this. Not what Disney used to be for sure.

    1. Jeff

Increase may seem minor…are you kidding? Soon Disney will charge for walking down hallway leading to your over priced room. They will charge for swimming in the resorts pool and extra for the hottub per person. If your not thinking about the cost of breathing at Disney then you should. Because thats one of the next things along with carbon credits to offset your farts!

      1. Robert

This will last until a family waits by the security gate and gets hit by a car. Stupid idea.

    2. Jonathan

Umm Universal is just as pricy. And while I enjoy Universal it isn’t the same.

      1. Janice

That’s not true. We took a family of 7. One 2yr old in that number. We had a value resort cars suite 5 nites 6 days and 4 park tickets with the 99 per park special. No hopper or dining plan. Right under 5000.
Universal 2 bedroom suite volcano view in a premium value 5 park tickets with park to park and volcano bay. No food plan same family. 7 nites 8 days and it was right over 3600.

Obviously the parking has been abused by many to avoid the parking fees at the parks. Many of these rules have been in place for several years, and the loophole was to say you were just picking someone up which allowed you access to the parking areas. A loophole will still exist for someone who makes a restaurant reservation and then proceeds to the park, so hopefully people won’t abuse this so the rest of us will have to pay even if we really intend to enjoy a meal at one of the wonderful restaurants on property. A few years ago they started charging for restaurant parking, but they finally stopped with the charges after COVID. It had a very negative affect on the restaurants.

Perhaps the guests being picked up can notify the front desk ( or whoever) that someone is picking them up

    1. Capt Tom

It’s gotten to the point where it’s cheaper to go to Las Vegas

    2. Kg

When you call the front desk you are talking to someone offside. It’s not the front desk.

Walt would be so upset with all this. He wanted all children to be able to go, not just the rich kids. We just returned from Disney a few weeks ago. It was very expensive especially paying more for Genie +
    And lighting lanes. And $30
To park is ridiculous. They need to do a complete makeover making it affordable again! Of course that won’t happen. 😢

    1. Nah Shis

Parking is $35 at Disneyland in Anaheim – and parking that is 100 feet closer costs $55 per car.

  6. Lisa

Disney is nothing like it was ! Their guests are not as important anymore ! They forget who took them to the position they are in ! The guest is who make them or break them ! I was just there and won’t be going back ! We went every year ! We were treated terrible by the swan resort don’t stay there!

    1. Jonathan

I’m sorry you had a bad experience but Disney is still magical to me and many others. The problem is post pandemic alot of the clientele has gone downhill. Rude guests, fights, guests throwing trash everywhere, breaking things in the queues etc.. Biggest part of this are those damn social media kids and adults. I still love Disney and will still go back.

    2. Kg

      Swan is a Marriott property.

    3. Michelle

The Swan resort, while being in a prime Disney location, is not owned by Disney. They charge for parking. And they have resort fees.

  7. Dustin

We went to the boardwalk this past Friday and was able to park at the resort. We tried to go again Sunday and was turned away and told it was for resort guest only and there was lots to do at disney springs.

    1. Cony

Wow! I really wanted to go there and try their new corn dogs. We like just walking around. This will surely cause their sales to drop drastically. Talk about shooting themselves in the foot! This is horrible!!!

  8. Michael

I recently went to Disney World in December 2023 and at the beginning of May. My wife and I went to the Boardwalk several times to get a drink or a quick bite at the deli or pizza window. We enjoy visiting all the different hotels to eat and shop, not always at a restaurant that takes reservations. If this policy is true it is disappointing, and I may have to seriously reconsider my next trip to Disney World.

  9. DavidC.

I can’t see where a huge amount of resort guests are being picked up by “friends or family”. The vast majority fly or drive in. Disney knows this also. Hence the new policy. Between this and DAS, it would appear Disney is cracking down. More and more people are trying to abuse the system. Everyone else gets to pay for it.

    1. Cony

We are disabled annual passholders and live here. We love to go down to the resorts, eat at the other non-reservation places, grab a beignet at Port Orleans and listen to the band at Scat Cats and Trader Sams at the Poly! There’s so much more we love to do at the resorts. And we spend quite a bit! I’m sure we aren’t alone! So now we can’t get there easily?? We have to go to general parking taking much longer to get there! Unless we get there first thing in the morning, handicap parking is taken! This is ridiculous! Disney is making a huge mistake in not allowing paying guests to partake in what the resorts have to offer. What they are doing is trying to get more guests to stay at the hotels to be able to have access to their other amenities! It’s all about the mighty dollar! As an OG, who was at the MK on opening day – I know that Walt would NOT approve! They are shooting themselves in the foot! Very disappointing!!

  10. Paula Granica Aszkler

I don’t like it. I’m disabled and have a hard time walking. So you mean I can’t have someone pick me up at my resort? That’s discrimination against people who qualify under the American with Disabilities Act. Plus the parking fees are ridiculous.

  11. Marisa

Stop going. The more everyone keeps going and paying the ridiculous prices Disney just keeps adding and adding more $$$$. So if you stop spending your money there and spend it elsewhere Disney would bring back all the good perks to get you back into there parks.

  12. Ericka

I am not renewing my annual pass due to these new rules. There must be a group of highly paid Disney executives that sit around a conference table to figure out how they can make it difficult for their guests. DISNEY IS NO LONGER MAGICAL!

  13. M

    ITS B___S__T!!!!!

    1. Pat

There seems to be a greatt deal of paranoia around so called abuse of facilities including DAS and hotel parking. Do we have hard evidence for this or is it just hearsay. What are the stats?

  14. Melvyn Drucker

So If I’m staying at a resort and my other family members are stay at a different resort and I’m the one with the car, I can’t picked them up? That’s total B.S. I can understand they’re wanting to control parking by non resort guests, however, there has to be a better way of doing it.

  15. Lance C Liebl

Disney has gone “money” hungry. Why dont they just announce that Disney parks are only for those making over $500,000 a year.
How does these bew rules affect handicapped guests who need to be picked up by family members? Disney was supposed to be “the happiest place”. They should change it to “the greediest place”.

  16. Don

I love it how there is no factual or verifiable information given or cited, just what people are saying on social media which is always the hallmark of truth and you people are loosing your minds hahaha. It’s very entertaining.

  17. Jan K.

Last time we stayed at a WDW Resort and took the transportation to the parks there were quite a few families that had local family members join them to ride the transport to the parks (leaving their cars in the hotel lot). Those family members took up half the bus and resort users had to wait for the next transport. Sorry but that isn’t fair to those that paid to use the transport and arrive in a timely manner, but couldn’t due to the additional family members. I can understand why Disney is don’t this!

  18. It’s Joe Biden’s fault.

Make Disney Great Again Donald Trump.

Every kid deserves a chance to go visit Disney and not some traveling carnival.

I have witnessed friends over the years that fell behind on the bills they had over a Disney trip.

Disney will lose business over this. You have Universal Studios 15-20 mins away without these new demanding rules which is geared for the kids to have a great time.
