Disney has gone overboard on DEI, making it more important than creating high quality entertainment that appeals to a wide segment of the consuming public. Disney’s business results show the impact of their efforts and spell failure for Bob Iger in his last years as CEO.
Yeah it’s pretty evident looking at the lack of quality productions Disney’s had over the past few years. Until Iger is ready to take a hard look at the sacrificing of quality hires for DEI targets, they will continue to hemorrhage money and lose market share of the entertainment space. Not just losing to other production houses, but in aggregate as people just plain walk away from the old traditional entertainment industry.
I understand that they want diversity but the way they are doing it is ridiculous.
They are using it as a cover to destroy cannon Disney and the work Walt did on the earlier movies and the way his influence was in the later movies.
They cast a black Ariel, which in and of itself isn’t a problem except that Ariel isn’t a black character.
Now they are trying to make Snow White Hispanic. What is that?
While I’m not against diversity in hiring and things like that, remaking movies and changing it like this and using diversity as a cover it getting way out of control.
It matters what role was being cast. Was it an ethnic role? I’m very positive plenty of white males work for Disney as I’ve seen with my own eyes many times.
For clarity, it should be okay to discriminate in casting. Example: they should have never cast a black woman as Ariel. But specifically there should never be gay storylines from Disney.
I won’t be anything Walt Disney! Inclusion equals reverse racism and discrimination. Give all the jobs to gays, queers, lesbians, blacks, hispanics, females and every other freak show so I can sit my white male ass at home and draw a check off the government.
