Sounds nice but with those billions to spend I would guess Disney will be even more expensive. What I’d like to hear is more family friendly from a cost perspective. It is extremely difficult for a family in today’s financial environment. However, I understand that that is not reality. Wonder if Walt would care more about the bottom line or families?

    1. disney is all about the bucks. how to rape u more and more each visit. 200 bucks to get a ticket is nuts.. what fun its all about money…

    2. Starsong

Walt was a family man. He was willing to spend to keep the park clean and build the tunnels to help make the experience. Not just pander to the elite.

  2. Piratequeen

So instead of putting something in that everyone can enjoy they are making a lounge for only rich people to frequent. The dvc is ridiculous for expense for middle income families. Yet another example of degrading Disney’s dream

I agree with Charlie. Let’s look back at what Walt Disney wanted in the very beginning and that was for families to “ENJOY”. I love Disney I love Mickey Mouse you guys are making a lot of money do you think it’s time at least consider cost friendly? Adding a lounge honestly I don’t see the point of adding something that’s geared towards exclusive cuz I have a feeling that’s what’s going to be. Bottom line I don’t like it I believe instead of thinking dollars what about family?

    1. Amber

Yeah they want to be more inclusive so they add an exclusive lounge.

  4. I have to agree with the above comment from Charlie. Let’s look back at the very beginning of what Walt Disney wanted and that is for family to go and enjoy. I love Disney I love Mickey Mouse my daughter works for the company I’m happy I was able to bring her up in the world of Disney there are people out there that would love to go but cannot afford and it would be nice to see Disney doing something for cost friendly rather than adding some exclusive Lounge for me that’s what it sounds like and bottom line I’m not liking it I feel like just leave it alone.

Oh how nice. More things to exclude people inside of include everyone. Walt Disney must be rolling in his grave right now. Why not create a lounge for EVERYONE?? A nice area to get away from the heat? Oh no ….we must keep making money while making Disney unaffordable to so many ! Great job! NOT

  6. Noah berumem

Disney totally sucks for kiing this

I have to agree with the comments shown. Disney seems to be all about the money now and not what Walt Disney envisioned. Splash Mountain was re-themed to be more inclusive, yet, they are building a lounge exclusively for DVC members only – a contradiction in terms to say the least. Disney has lost quite a lot of it’s magic. I love Disney, but, the cost for overseas visitors is becoming more and more limiting to many families. We used to visit every other year, nowadays it is becoming a once in a lifetime vacation. Universal has a better balance for all families by way of cost. As one other comment states, Walt would be turning in his grave.

When my kids were younger I took them every other year. LOVED the Magic Kingdom and all the parks. Dyed in the wool Disney. Even considered their timeshare. But Disney is the woke playground for trust fund children and it’s never coming back. Universal has GREAT rides, not as expensive comparatively and not playing the culture war game. Universal has and will continue to get my business going forward. I’ll enjoy my ButterBeer and Hogwarts just fine thank you.

  8. Tom Mariner

OK, we have replaced Thunder Mountain with a theme intended to show Disney Corporation’s minority sensitivity, but bring back Zip a Dee Do Dah welcoming our kids to Main Street.

  9. G

You’re going to create a lounge that is exclusive to one group maybe think about making it exclusive for autistic children. But Disney is about making money and that’s all that’s important to them. Most families can only afford maybe taking their family there once.

  10. M

Sadly the “Average Joe” cannot afford to take his children to a professional Baseball or Football game anymore like his father before him could. Like Disney, they have priced themselves out of “Joe’s ” reach.
We were able to take our children to Disney World once but between the trip, lodging and the entry fee it quickly became cost prohibitive. It is highly doubtful, in this day and age of both parents working just to get by, that my children will ever be able to afford going to Disney World. So, am I excited about an exclusive club lounge? Hardly…
    Sorry Walt.

    1. ROGER D STEVENS

MONEY TALKS!!! The ‘Average Joe’ cannot afford DVC!

      1. Jade VR

Isn’t that exactly what was JUST said in the last comment? Little overdramatic there, aren’t you?

    2. Jim

I would love to take my grandchildren to Disney World before I leave this world but between the “wokeness ” and exclusive areas for the high rollers it won’t be possible. I will have my memories of a time when having fun wasn’t about certain people always getting offended.

  11. Forget the exclusive lounge. If you want to cool off, go in a restaurant or store. Just a reason yo get rid of the shootin’ gallery.

    1. Ed

Kid’s don’t want “Shoot’n Galleries” anymore. They have “Laser Tag”, “Paintball Arenas”, and even better VR games including bigger better weapons. So yes, it is time for the “Shoot’n Gallery” to go.

And Walt only said families, he never said what “type” of families. The shorts, movies, Disneyland, and all the rest of the business enterprises are just that. To make money.

      1. Jade VR

Yes, honestly, the only ones I have seen complaining are those adults that want things to remain “all the same” from their childhood. Does it suck to see something they knew disappear? Yeah, I remember playing at that gallery too. But, times change, kids ideas of enjoyment change, and they’re not always going to like what we all did. Have to change with the times.
It just feels that a lot of these people complaining are not thinking about what the typical (and sometimes not so typical) generation will like, and instead are being selfish in wanting everything they remember to be exactly as it were.
Time to stop being self-centered and let the current generation see what they enjoy for a change. Granted… I hate to see a part of Disney history go away. However, innovation is always moving forward. And that means that we need to stop clinging to the past, and live for the future.

      2. JB

I think the comment was put down the guns. Which sounds like a lot of rides that having shooting in it “Men in black” and others will also disappear

I was a season pass holder for a lot years. That’s will be ending this year. They have gone off the rails and there is no end in sight. The values that made Disney what it was in now in a sea of political nonsense. It really is like watching a friend on top of a bridge swearing and declaring that they will jump if you get any closer. There really is nothing left to do but walk away.

  13. Muskrat Steve

All the boomers in the comments complaining are hilarious.

  14. Jessie

The Dvc members already have a longe at epcot. Im sorry but i dont think they need one at magic kingdom too. You dont see those of us with the disney visa card asking for one. The space should for something that everyone can use. Whether it some other game, a VR room, or an update version of what it is. Just something for everyone. They keep taking things away that people enjoy. Whether it rides, the portals (cant remember the name of the game with the portals and spell cards at magic kingdom), characters to meet, shops in disney springs or anything else guest like. True they have add some new things, but they keep uping the prices making harder and harder to afford.
I believe disney should think about the impacked on everyone when making decicions not one group of people. Someone will always be up set that cant be helped, but everyone matters.

    1. Jon Sullivan

I’m sure you’re just lovin’ those trans guys in costume dresses. That’s the new “inclusive” Disney that sets back families $1200 a day. Disney stock is 50% off of its highs for a reason….Bob Iger and his ilk have run the company into the ground. It’s too far gone to be resurrected.

      1. Jade VR

Why did you feel a.need to throw in that trans jab? Something that’s on your mind there, hmm? No one said anything about that, get you had it on your mind.
And in case you missed the comments you were being so snarky to, they were already talking about price hikes. You were too focused on making yourself look smarter with your “facts” there. Try to read fully and understand before posting, and keep the jabs at certain groups out from where it’s not warranted.

  15. Non ya

Walt continues to roll in his grave. This seems the exact opposite of what his vision was.

  16. ROGER D STEVENS

DVC sucks!! I would rather keep the shooting gallery and tear down TA’s ride.

  17. Tawnie

As children, my brothers and I were fortunate. Our parents were “middle class” at best. With the 3 of us pitching in what ever money we made from babysitting to spending hours collecting aluminum cans and other recyclables, we were able to make Disneyland our once a year go to. Now 40 years later, I make a comfortable living and am not rich by any means, but could never afford to take my immediate family, (if I had one) to any Disney attraction. It has nothing to do with wanting to “re-living” my past as Someone commented, its about being able to afford something that has truly become unrealistic. Good for you money train where ut comes from.

  18. catman

All child abuse all the time. Place should be burned to the ground!

  19. Y wood

I agree with the comments below. All Disney cares about is money Walt Would be turning in his grave. While he wanted to make a profit, he didn’t want to exclude people from middle and lower class incomes He also was Very conservative. The things I see on his channel are startling It’s sickening

  20. Larry

    Digging your grave deeper.

  21. Larry

It’s incredible, why aren’t the stock holders jumping up and down because they will loose money.

  22. Steve

This is why when I take over Disney I will reduce the DVC all the way back to square one and remove all lounges in the parks and remove properties like Bay Lake Tower. Yes Disney can stay the same and will stay the same under me. Nothing wrong with that or going backwards. Disney can survive on its name and be stuck in the 20th century. Times do not change anymore. Humans cannot go further.

  23. Scott

It would be nice if this site would title their articles more specifically and not make is sound like the park(s) are closing.
“Operations Cease at Disney After 53 Years, Official Announcement to Vacationers” should be changed to something like “Original 53-year old attraction set to close to make way for a new venue”.
“Operations Cease at Disney After 53 Years” is nothing but click bait.

  24. I am a grandfather. Sent to Disney when I was young plenty of times. Took my kids to Disney in Anaheim also. I own over 400000$ of Disney stock. I’m getting rid of it. I am sorry I gave my granddaughter Disney stock. I’m do dissatisfied with the direction of the company and I must not be the only one by reaction to the movies they have made in last couple years.
In my opinion in quick terms is go woke go broke.

  25. Patrick

Q DVC lounge in MK is a nice addition for DVC members, but it’s also a cheap turnaround for using that space until they come up with something else. Sad to see the shooting gallery go, but those “guns” we as inaccurate as all heck 15 years ago let alone now, and the whole thing needed a little bit of TLC that was never going to happen in today’s day and age of Disney.
