  1. Pretty simple. Disney is badly missing its target audience – families. The drastic move to DEI shifted the company focus. Add the higher and higher cost of admission and you have 2Q 2024 earnings result. One idea would be to stimulate local attendance with special offers on annual and fixed days passes. Maybe afternoon/ evening offers. Local people will bring guests and friends in larger numbers.
I once held Disney stock. Would I invest again ? If true change occurs and the target market shifts drastically back to focus on families. If the focus stays on current cultural change, hand me another Miller Lite. Some one has said “go woke, go broke.” Get back to entertaining children, not influencing them. People will return when family fun is once again the focus Walt Disney dreamed and created. May he rest in peace.

The shift away from.traditional.damily values has soured a lot of people on Disney. Also, the prices are insane, for both the tickets and the hotels. I have gone to Dianey since it opened and many of the cha get I have seen are NOT for the better. Less variety in the merchandise, exorbitant prices for basic foods, extra pricing for rides , when considering the regular ticket prices are ridiculous, the parking fees, and I could go on and on. They have taken away much of the magic that existed and that is sad. The average family cannot.affors the experience anymore. The perks that once existed even for Disney hotel.guests are no longer there. The only Main street Bakery, gone, the fudge making, gone, the cowboy shop, gone
The original.shops in Adventureland, also gone. The company has fallen far from Walt’s idea.

I agree @William Hicks. We need more to stand up. I use to live in Florida but now live in Southern IL. I know a family that him and his wife took his 3 kids thru seasons of the year. Then he started on his grandkids. Now he doesn’t even promote it. A devoted family who knew what Disney World meant to a child and an adult. So sad we lost the Meaning and Purpose of Why Disny World or Disneyland was created for…KIDS and FAMILIES. Thanks William for sticking Up for FAMILIES and KIDS…

      1. Carol

We are frombtge UK an No way could we afford to go to Disney, we are older now and thank goodness have been with our sons and grandchildren however even they couldn’t afford to go anymore, we still come to Florida but not to the parks, its sad really.

    3. NANCY BRIDWELL

Exactly, too expensive for the average person or family. I live in Orlando, I used to have many family and friends visit and stay at my house so they could afford the parks. Now, they only come to visit because the average people have been priced out.

  2. Linda

Yes Disney has become way too expensive for the average family!

    1. Brandon

The woke nonsense has to stop. The pricing is ridiculous and the emphasis placed on forcing an ideology down our throats in lieu of just ENTERTAINING the children needs to stop! Disney should concentrate on being the place where families can go to forget the divisiveness and just let the kids be kids. Let the parents educate their kids on the different ideologies, not a corporation controlled by a woke management.

  3. David

Disney world should cater to little children, never adults. If my kids want to go and have fun than I will come back. Adults going to have fun with other adults and drinking and extremely expensive restaurants etc is not what made this place famous. It’s for children.

    1. A Ess

Disney is for everyone, not just little kids and children! Not all adults go to drink and eat at expensive restaurants.

    2. Kat

Walt Disney very famously said that Disney parks were for everyone. After all, who is going when kids are in school? It’s not the kids. Plus it’s adults who have the spending money (ones without kids even moreso at times).

    3. Chris B

“Disney world should cater to little children, never adults” Sounds like something a pedophile would say and the other nonsense line of “It’s for children.” when clearly its not for children as its for everybody you weirdo. Don’t be mad at adults that go and they don’t have to put up with the bs from kids misbehaving like your kids and you don’t have the balls to discipline them you unfit pos.

  4. Ray

Branson and the Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge don’t seem to have problems like WDW. Let’s talk about Disneyland!!!!!

  5. Larry

Let’s Hope Disney Collapses. I am tired of getting ripped off and shown no respect as a 33-year fan of these parks. Everyone knows that they’re using the money they rip off from us to prop off their other failed ventures. Not to mention their foolish woke agenda deliberately jettisoning their core fan group

  6. Shelly Cunniam

So sad that they have ruined the dream of Walt Disney Stop with all the additions and make Disney as it was intended You don’t see any of the original characters that Walt created Now it’s all about Star Wars avatar etc That’s not how it was intended It was a family destination that you brought your kids to see the “ happiest place in earth ” Now people can’t afford to bring their families due to greediness They made a huge profit in second quarter alone Stop with all the expansions and make it about families and affordability again
As far as I’m concerned they have ruined what Walt Disney spent his life trying to create How sad is that !!!
Greed is a terrible thing and I would hate to see the karma come from that
I’m sure Walt is looking down in saddness of how they have ruined his legacy So sad

  7. John De

Who wants to vacation in a crowded and expensive places ie Orlando, WDW and Uni, when there are places more reasonable and much less crowded places! My opinion WDW is becoming more like DL a local destination with too many Vloggers! WDW missed the boat on a 5th gate and let UNI pass them by!

I am going to Disney World this summer and found out parking is now $30 per park. That is $5 more than last year. This is extremely high and with the price of tickets always increasing, will cause me to stop going after 34 years. You wait in line most of the day and I cannot justify the money spent is worth the trip.

    1. Kat

Parking is pretty rough. I’ve only been to Disney World twice (Disneyland was closer to me), but when we went we picked hotels that had the bus transportation to/from the parks. The busses were free. I suppose they’re not an option if you rent a vacation home or stay at a non-disney hotel, but they were really worth it to my family. I hope this helps.

      1. I loved taking my daughter to Disney but now when you go the expensive experience is not magical if you stay at a resort there you pay a fortune even with the value ones and then you pay for the food and don’t even get me started about paying for parking at the resorts they are lucky you pay the resort prices and the park prices and the air prices to get there and they want parking charges too whatever happened to the most magical place on earth for the real families

    2. Mike

Parking is free if you stay at a WDW hotel. Parking is also free for annual pass holders. Just sayin’

  9. Holton

Disney’s focus on DEI has ruined the fun of attending the parks or watching their movies. I don’t want to expose my kids to that. Having grown men dress up in women’s cloths selling their products in stands.

  10. Keith P

The problem is simple… Disney has become too expensive. Ticket and pass prices keep increasing, what was once free with FastPass has become a cash grab with Genie+, and now even guests with disabilities are feeling the squeeze with the criteria for DAS being charged.

As a former CM I’m grieved to speak badly about the company I once worked for and respected but, the magic is gone. Something has got to change.

  11. Ken

The downfall of Disney is simple to explain. It’s called wokeness.

    1. Steven

      SPEAK BRO

    2. Ss32806

Simple explanation from a “simpleton.” 😀

  12. Cheryl C

Disney will continue to raise prices. Average families won’t be able to go…and Disney doesn’t care! They’re making money! I’m sure Walt is spinning in his grave over the greedy company his precious project has become!

  13. Ashla

I have personally gone less because of rising cost and I love Disney World. It is just getting too expensive for locals. Mostly Resort prices and food have gone up. I’m an annual passholder. I love WDW and hope they don’t price me out of going.

  14. walt

The problem is wokeness but that all emanates from Bob Iger, D Amaro and the rest of the merry band of groomers. Done with disney since 2017 – after going three times a year. There is life after Disney, there are many other places to explore and enjoy.

Disney has made the whole experience too complicated. Go and watch everyone looking at their phones and rushing to the next attraction like crazy people. Destroying favorite attractions in favor of marginal crapola. No thanks

  15. Rroe

Unfortunately the parks are no longer owned by the Disney Family and now it’s owned by a conglomerate that only concerned about $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$. One could only wish attendance at the parks would drop since it’s now a shoulder to shoulder bump along scene. Disney needs to vastly improve on the the original concept since after all, aren’t they making enough $$$$$$$$$$$$

  16. Jeff

Last time I went to Disney it cost $500 for 3 people. Today it’s almost could easily be $500 per person. 6 family members, 3 grand for a couple days? Plus food? Plus hotel? May as well buy a 7 night cruise and save $1500.

  17. Jeff

It’s not the go and enjoy Disney anymore, it’s hurry up and get your money’s worth. We can afford to come back again. Even Water parks wet&wild was $27 to get in, all the others are $75+ Last time I went to Disney it cost $500 for 3 people. Today it’s almost could easily be $500 per person. 6 family members, 3 grand for a couple days? Plus food? Plus hotel? May as well buy a 7 night cruise and save $1500.

    1. Mike

Interesting math. Wet and Wild closed (probably due to the low ticket price). A one day pass to Universal’s Volcano Bay is $80. Universal park tickets are currently running about $316 for a two day pass. Since a two day Disney Park pass will run about $300 per adult, not sure how you rounded that up to $500? And, a 7 night Disney cruise can easily cost $3000 per person.

  18. Patti

I agree the woke agenda is not a family friendly thing at all.
You feel like you have to explain far too many things to your kids, when they see the things that are happening at Disney Parks or hear about it at school from other shocked children. Cut it out, Disney! It’s GROSS.

  19. Keep increasing ticket prices and taking away previously free and necessary perks like fast pass and WDW will continue to see a decrease in attendance. We were the ultimate Disney fans. DVC owners, annual pass holders, etc. With the price increases and all the woke nonsense we’re done.

    1. David Conley

With the cost of tickets, food and lodging going up Disney is putting the middle and lower income people out at there parks. Disney should lower the executives salary an cut out the bouses all together. Lowering the tickets, food and lodging will help the bottom line by increasing the customer count. Bring back the fast pass, transportation from the airport and the perks from the annual passes. Mr Igner your salary is 90% too high. Keep cutting the amenities and you will LOOSE customers and it shows , stock dropping. You have done a VERY POOR job since you came back.

  20. Bob Bobberson

DEI and pushing the LGBTQIA2S+ (ridiculous, no?) agenda has ruined the Disney Experience, both in the parks, at the box office, and streaming. I’m a long-term shareholder and they seem to care more about pushing an agenda that is harmful to children than entertaining people and promoting shareholder value.

  21. don

Man there are a lot of people complaining here. Go, don’t go, to each his own. If you’re that triggered by something you say you are dead set against doing anyway I’d hate to have your lives. Me, I take my family, don’t see the issues you complain about, we have a great time and we get on with our lives. Some of you need Jesus, a drink or a vacation to wherever you will complain the least at.

    1. DONK

      I second this.

    2. Mike

Exactly. Some people will complain about everything. Are fast food prices too high? You bet. Are restaurant prices going up? yes, they are. Are hotel prices going up? I think so. Is it just at Disney? Nope. Is it because the minimum wage keeps going up? Possibly. Should we stop going on vacation? Well, if you can’t afford a vacation but you have items in your budget you can afford to do without, you might consider skipping that weekly six pack and carton of smokes for the betterment of your family’s vacation. Some people don’t go out to eat during the year and save their money for the big vacation. Everyone has different priorities.

  22. Carla

If the prices weren’t so high more families and people would come.

    1. Tommy

Again more dim witted comments. The parks are packed every day.

  23. Tom Mariner

I love the comments screaming they will not go back because it is too expensive. Well somebody is paying the increasing bucks because the parks are overcrowded even though admission is limited by times and parks.

Yeah, I miss Zip a dee do dah playing on Main Street in the Kingdom because some woke folks are calling the LEAST racist movie of all time, “Song of the South” the MOST.

  24. Belle

These comments are from real people with every right to feel the way they do. Just because you don’t share their feelings doesn’t make them dim witted…they make valid points and I do agree with most of them. I went there and wasn’t impressed because it is way overpriced and to wait so long in intense heat is ridiculous. Especially when you have their special bands to move you ahead faster. It wasn’t a magical experience. It was an expensive one and I stayed at the resort. I did it for my children. I will never do that again. I absolutely wasn’t worth it. And now the prices have gone up? Well, y’all can blog all you want and i will enjoy watching and I’ll save my money. I’ll spend it on something we would all enjoy more and costs less. Smart spending not dim spending…

  25. Cosmic

No mention of the real reasons…DEI, woke etc etc. Nobody got time for that!!

  26. Linda

Started coming to DW in 1972. Eventually bought a timeshare we kept for 10 years. Nobody does it better than Disney. However, the increase in prices and the hard to follow fast pass has resulted in us not wanting to attend anymore. Sad. Too many families can’t afford or spend their life savings to go just once. As you know. That wasn’t Walt’s intent. Wish it could be more affordable and an easier access for everyone.
