  1. The live action movie already had its chance and blew it.

Love Jenna Ortega. Do not like Rachel Zegler, not even one little bit. She thinks she can day anything as if she was Meryl Streep, who is actually accomplished. Her big mouth has put her on my “nope” list. Jenna is smart and a wonderful actor!

At least Jenna can act, unlike Rachel, who can barely sing. I would rather see Jenna act any day than see someone that is carried by the media without any real talent.

Rachel Zegler should be replaced. The classic Snow White is a timeless tale, coming from the Grimm’s fairy tales. Even Disney stretched away from the tale, but there is archetypes and deeper meanings. I think Jenna Ortega can embody the Snow White character and give the retelling what it needs. Rachel Zegler should step away as it is clear her “wokeness” cannot bring the classic meanings to a wonderful story whose motif of “good overcoming evil”, needs no changing. It is still present today, and even still manifesting.

His is weird weird news. But hey it’s Hollywood baby

I think Jenna Ortega should take over as Snow White and make the live action film stay true to the 1937 animated film.

Im not watching that Rachel person that movie will bomb Because she has already offended everyone with her mouth! They should replace her because that movie will be worse then little mermaid at this point. Disney is going down the drain from when I was a kid!!

I’d take Ortega over a thousand zeglers, any day. She’s well spoken, humble, great at her craft and respects the source material. Zeglers is just wierd, Wierd!

“On one hand, there is a desire for progress and inclusivity, which has driven many of the recent changes in Disney’s storytelling. On the other hand, there is a strong attachment to the nostalgia and traditional narratives that defined Disney’s earlier works.”

Bob Igor is trying to control the world’s folklore and take ownership of its intellectual property. Loss of intellectual property naturally concerns the countries that created the ancient folktales, those that view their folktales as a matter of national identity. Disney has shown a propensity to control folklore by suing a story telling that has the slightest similarity to the Disney retelling of the traditional tale. This makes it risky for people in countries to use their own folklore.

The second component of the desire to create intentionally culturally divisive content is the notion of racial reckoning. Though it’s hard to suggest that the Germans (Snow White) or the Danes (The Little Mermaid) had anything to do with the plight of American minorities, both countries have white populations, so they are fair game for cultural appropriation.

Cultural appropriation backlash for Disney’s Snow White is unparalleled and has yet to hit the theaters. Our country is already terribly divided, and divisive movies do little to help; they can lead to violence or terrorism. Given the foreseeable potential to incite violence, I am surprised that Disney legal has let these movies go forward.

Even slight cultural sensitivity would allow Disney to be inclusive. Rather than usurping a Danish tale, Disney could have made a movie based on traditional black folklore, such as Sukey and the Mermaid. This kind of movie would have created more equity between white and black folk tales without creating hate.

Disney has lost my trust. I have to vet any new Disney movie prior to taking my family to the theaters. Thats too much effort, especially when there’s a trustworthy universal studios movie available, like Mario brothers for the third time.
