I wonder how this will work when there only 2 people and the one who needs to step away needs you with them all the time?

      I Lost my comment.

The above comment is spot on and also if the 3rd person is a child under 12??? Disney was a very attractive destination to those with disabilities and now that isn’t going to be the case….sad!

People with challenges can even visit parks solo.

As a person with several disabilities, the new system is terrible. I can leave the line and rejoin it? I have a wheelchair and can barely get through the queues as it is – how is that going to work? From what others have reported in the past week, virtually no one who doesn’t have Autism can get the pass now, even though there are a ton of valid reasons why other disabilities require flexibility that the DAS helped provide. Someone whose disability makes them very sensitive to heat, for example, who previously used the DAS to wait inside somewhere cool (because even winter trips can have surprisingly hot days) are now required to stay in a hot, stuffy line and risk their health. And don’t get me started on the patronizing questions and “advice.” Asking a person “well how do you manage that disability when you go to the grocery store?” as though a person stands in a grocery line for 1-2 hours at a time (and as though plenty of us don’t get our groceries delivered or drive-up pick-up or have someone else do the shopping). Or the best ever advice: “Practice waiting in line!” Gee, why didn’t I think of that? I have random partial seizures, but if I just practice hanging out in a narrow hallway for 2 hours I’m sure that’ll fix things in ways that medical professionals can’t!

    1. I get you KD! Problem is offenders have made it bad for you. People are selfish these days and Disney, along with all the other spaces you may need to use, are trying their best to keep everyone happy, disability or not.

I agree with you 100%. I also need a wheelchair and this new system seems to suck. Now we are just waiting in these long lines but in heat alone. And if you’re with your partner who wheels you around what do you do then? Horrible policy.

Going to Disney? You know ahead of getting there that it’s going to involve being in line for maybe hours for some rides. You also know you are in Florida and most of the time it’s hot. If you can’t take the heat stay out of the kitchen!! Use genie! If you have partial seizures you probably shouldn’t be on line for that attraction anyway. I think Disney is doing all they can for people with true disabilities and unfortunately had to tighten the reins because of the abuse of the system. You can’t please all
Of the people all of the time so when you want to go to Disney go during the cooler months , go during the week when the park is not as busy , buy genie if you don’t want to wait in a long line. But whatever you decide stop acting like you have some sort of entitlement. Over others. No one is forcing you to go to begin with.

Your lack of empathy is astounding!

I mostly go to Disney solo. I have 2 upcoming trips. If I need to exit the line, there is not an answer on how to return to the line. I go to Disney in cooler months and only during week days.

For those who have to leave line. Will there be exit points of the line with CM there. I think that is what some are worried about. Also when you get back you go thru LL. Hopefully your party hasn’t been on ride. Those who have small children and single guardian. I wonder how they gonna handle that

Is Disney going to have cast members walking up and down the line to provide this service? To date you see a cast member when you enter the line, when you reach the point where lightning lane and stand by merge and when you board the attraction. There can be a long wait between these points

  7. Joe

This only works if they put more cast members in the queue. How many times do you not see a cast member until the regular and lightning lane meet. that can be 30 minutes into the line. I guess you can always walk out and tell them at the entrance.

    What about PTSD military related?
What if BOTH parties have it, who’s in the line for them?

  9. This simply will not work. The lines are too convoluted and you will never find your party again. And as others point out, what if you’re going solo or just with a companion who must stay with you?

I don’t see this working at all. The old DAS system worked well for those with legitimate disabilities. When applying for a DAS pass, the person applying should have to provide documentation of their disability. Anyone can lie about a disability if they don’t need to prove it. This may be seen as an invasion of privacy but there should be a way to prove a disability without recording the records.

Getting off the line and getting back on will be pandemonium. This is going to be a disaster.

Issue is its aganist the multiple laws to ask for that info no psych is aloud to give out that info i know i would not and those of us whom have insvisible issues can only get a dr note via a psych. Also i do not know if you know this but wdw when it was GAC before das they asked for notes thats when it was taken advantage of the most! I was a cm and have stories i had a party come in w 20 people and not one person had a disablity!

  11. Cindy caine

Those of you complaining probably cheated the system! Das was always the way it was cms were just kind and the kindness was taken advantage of! Someone of us w invisible disablity need this you whom have a visible disablity are already taken care of and dont need this! Do you want to make this worse for everyone and none one has a pass????
Btw thank you inside the magic for actually caring and not repping das defenders they are a scam company whom wdw knows about like other parks they also go around and lie about things that do not even exisit at other parks… ie hershey never had a disability entry $ and they have a petition fighting for it back ???
So ty for caring about the magic!
Oh ans before anyone says use universal they are being sued for asking for dr notes and info aganist the law!!!
If wdw or any of this places want to change go w what hershey or gardens does they have a questionaire and they set up a personal pass for you which most of the time = entrance through exit or alt entrance.

    a) Nobody will know about this polivy
    b) There aren’t enough castmembers along a line, line NONE except the start and end
    c) There are no “re-entry” points in many queues
    d) This does nothing about the annoyance of parties that get in line and “save a spot” for others who push their way through to join them

  13. Cmon people, atleast give it a chance before you start hating on something. Unfortunatly, the abuse of the Das system is really, really bad and something needed to be done for the sake of all guests. I’m sure disney has thought this through. There is always a cast member at the que lines. If your not sure how it works, ask them. Let’s give it a chance. I’m sure if this creates more problems disney will adjust.
