Ijust got back from Disney. The young man with his long pointed nailes which were painted a lovely pink, helped us check in. We decided not to go to the Disney parks rather we went to Universal. It was great! At the resorts we did buy foof. $5.00 dollar 16 oz water, $16.00 dollar hamburgers, $16.00 dollar hot dogs. $11.00 dollar canned beer, $16.00 mixed drinks. Think I’m kidding
? It made me think the airport food was a bargain! Really, I am not kidding.

    1. yvonne

You didn’t go to a park because a man had painted, long nails? Weird. Also, I literally had a man with long nails and a wig help us at Universal. He was friendly and seemed happy so I had my personal thoughts and moved on with my day.

      1. Mary

During Mardi Gra there were hundreds of gay and trans gender performers.

        1. Shay

They are weirdos not normal especially with kids around

          1. John

            Amen!

          2. Brandon

50 years ago religious women were forbidden to use makeup or wear sexy clothes in church. Pool tables were sinful along with pinball. Come back in twenty years and all you bitch about will be accepted by evangelical churches. PS. Before Jerry Farwell the S Baptist Convention had no problem with abortion rights. Time changes dogma.

          3. Amanda

That is incredibly closed minded! People should be allowed to express themselves freely. It is not hurting you. That young man was friendly & did his job. It is not anyone’s place to dictate how or what someone should be or wear. If it bothers you that much then maybe you should go elsewhere anyway!

      2. Qgurl

I didn’t see where he said that. He said they decided to go to Universal over Disney. He didn’t say it was over the fingernails. He isnt dumb enough to think he will never see that at Universal or anywhere else. You “assume” a lot.

        1. Rick

And people will go other places… weird and expensive isn’t going to fly.

          1. Deborahwalton

Went to Disney over spring break. Definitely to pricey. I don’t know where it’s going. There is know way a large family or even some small families can afford to go. Don’t know where it’s going!

        2. Robert

People, you can literally take a European vacation for what you’re paying to go to WDW.

        3. JC

Followup – I should note that my price also included flights, which are their own problem. But the Disney portion was heading for $8,000 CAD which for 5 people for 5 days, is insane

      3. How did you come to that conclusion from a statement about someone’s nails??? It was a comment in regards to how much they spent on food at the resort.

      4. He did not say that the reason he did not go to the parks was because of the guy with the pink nails. He stayed at the Disney resort. He said they decided to go to Universal and it was cheaper.

    2. Mary

Universal also has transgender staff !! I go every Sunday and have seen many transgender employees . Their prices are the same and sometimes more than Disney . If you are prejudiced and stop going where transgender and gay people are your you are gonna be staying home a lot

      1. John

Amen! Fine, I like my home and I control who comes and goes.

    3. JC

I had a dream of spending my birthday this year at Disney – myself, my 9 year old, my husband, and my parents. My mom and always wanted to go.
I priced checked a 5 day stay periodically through the year beforehand through a couple different trips organizers and through an acquaintance that books their trips herself. Every time I checked, the price went up. This was not an elaborate stay, and on the “economical” end given all things Disney. The last quote was over $14,000 Cad. For 5 days. At a time when inflation is king and people struggle to buy groceries (I had been saving since my child was born, mind you, and thought the almost 10k I had saved would be enough)
It’s very disheartening to have to let go of that dream and know I’ll never get there, and, more importantly, never get my mom there who has never asked for anything and always put herself last.

For those of us that are wheelchair bound it is expensive with the lack of accessible rides.

  3. Daryll

Too much money. EPCOT, used to be a vision of what the city of tomorrow could be. Now it’s what used to be and what might have been. You can’t see tomorrow, if you are constantly looking backward. Reedy Creek became Greedy Creek state rip off the tourist district.

    1. John

When Walt Disney announced and explained what it was to be. It was nothing like the disaster of today. EPCOT was to be Experimental Prototype City of Tomorrow. Basically a closed ecosystem and community of people from all over living a better life. He never foresaw the commercialized disaster it has become.

      1. AnnMarie Fleet

I have no idea how a family can afford to go to any Disney theme park. With a one day ticket costing $184, as stated in the article, a family of 4 is socked with an entry fee of $736. Just to get in! Add on your food, drinks and souvenirs and you could make several house payments. Add to this fact that you ‘may’ be able to ride 2 to 3 of the popular exhibits while you are there for the day. I know I wouldn’t spend that kind of money. The rest of the people that do are totally nuts.

  4. Linda

It is greed. No reason to charge those prices and for parking not only st the park but hotels in Disney properties. We use to go with a season pass, get the meal plan, stay in property and it might be 1500.00 or less. Now it’s 5 times that amount. No more Disney forbus. We brought our daughter there in opening day when you had A thru D tickets. Now our grandson who is 10 has been there 15 times or more since he is an infant and the cost of those visit have gone up so much it makes it impossible for a family of 5 to go. How can they afford those prices. If course people with money have no problem but what about poor families? Where is the magic for them? Gone like everything else, driven by greed

    1. yvonne

I agree. It is everywhere now. Even Universal. I loved our trip there but their version of the fast passes were super pricey. They are free with “deluxe hotel” stays but it was crazy. The passes didn’t work with the newer rides. At least Disney has good food. So crazy expensive. I think we’re going to try Dollywood next time!

      1. You should love Dollywood. It’s a nice park with lots of rides and shows. We’ve been many times when our children were young. We also love Sulver Dollar City in Brandon MO. Both are nice and very clean. Also Dollywood has 2 hotels now and you get something similar to the fast passes when staying there.

  5. Barbara

When I went to Disney world, it used to be the happiest place on earth and the greatest place on earth. Now it’s gotten so expensive to go there it’s just not a good option anymore until prices go down some for people to be able to come and bring their children.
We’re going to 2 character dinings this year at Cape May and Chef Mickey for breakfast. I hope the atmosphere is good there.
It could be the happiest place on earth again if the prices were cheaper for a limited time. Things may get better again.

    1. Prices go down??? Don’t hold your breath on that happening.

  6. I have said for Years….that Disney needs to be more affordable for ALL families!! I am a grandmother & don’t do rides…my husband is handicapped & in wheelchair, so he doesn’t do rides. We went because our daughters were going with their families & we wanted to see the grandchildren have fun their. We watched the strollers, & held on to the backpacks and walked around..saw a little show or two, spent money on food & snacks!! I really feel that we should not have to pay what they are asking in ticket price to do that! Give us seniors or anyone who doesn’t do the rides a colored braclett that won’t allow us on rides.
It’s simple!! I’m not trying to fake it…but some may try to get a lower ticket price. Here’s the solution then.
Disney, shame on you for gouging your visitors at your Park..!! Your prices inside the park for just about everything are so overpriced it is ridiculous!!! I hope More people with join in and boycott Disney World….maybe they will get the picture!! Write in & complain!

    1. Ron

I hear you there, Mimi! We have been to Disney 3 times over the last 5 years (the first was the best), and I boycotted Disney in November over raising prices on everything, including their streaming service. You get marketed with this promise that your time is magical. For kids, it probably is. However, for parents, it is not always. You would think that with the high prices, people would be civil and respect one another, as we are all dealing with the same problems (high prices, sleepy kids, long wait times, etc.), but I saw an all-out brawl between folks. I don’t know what it was about, but they needed to take it out of the park. For those out there taking their adulting lives out in the open where children are: Shame on you. Kids don’t need to see any of that. In the end, it is better to pack a nice picnic and go to a park… Just Say No!

  7. George

5 kids and they had no warning that it was GAY day!
Dry humping on benches, a.s grabbing, making out! We got a refund never again!

    1. Max

The same things you see the straight couples doing year round? Bummer, huh? If you left those 5 kids home you woulda had a great time on the down low, huh George?

      1. Orphan

Yeah…NORMAL couples. Men who love other men’s Corndogs is not the norm. Nice try at gaslighting.

      2. Qgurl

Where are you from that you see straight couples doing that year round? You ARE gaslighting and it is a pitiful attempt at that. Go on ba k to your Daddy Biden and cry to him. We don’t caree what you think k.

        1. Eric Buckner

The wife, her brother, and I visited about 3 years ago and it was super expensive then! Now, it’s definitely a non-option as everyone knows that looking at a Disney vacation is going to run, on a minimum $2-3k per person per week? So, it becomes only an option for those upper middle class, at least. And then, there’s always the fact that if you go there, you’ll have to visit Florida, easily America’s worst state, with its book burning nazis, pythons, alligators, fire ants, and killer bees.
I was once a Disney lover, there was nothing Disney could have done wrong, but the last few years, the love has waned and the cost of its admittance ate into that delightful and wonderous illusion that made Disney so magical.

          1. Thomas lee

Even though the park might be empty, you’re still standing in line for 50 minutes to get into haunted mansion because people walk by you with their genie +.

        2. Michelle

We can’t afford it… I am thankful we were able to go several times when our son was young. (In the 90’s) We have a lot of great memories and photos…. but I feel bad for those who can’t experience it now.

I LOVE the lady’s idea above to charge less for people who have no intention of riding. I fit in that category!

      3. Burt

Been to WDW a dozen times and never seen straights act that way.

  8. Hilde Schmid

Disney is too expensive now, and has made vacations unaffordable. Even hotels outside the WDW gates are overpriced, and Orlando is an awful place to drive through. If I didn’t have business there I would never go.

  9. Max

The same things you see the straight couples doing year round? Bummer, huh? If you left those 5 kids home you woulda had a great time on the down low, huh George?

      Unnecessary

Honestly, I’m tired of feeling force fed this adoption of homosexual life main stream. Just tired. I’m heterosexual and proud of it. And yes I’m tired of the men dressed as women. Hey, what you do in your private life is your business. Don’t make it my business too. I don’t like it even if it’s not PC to say so. And I doubt I’m alone. It’s like you have to defend being heterosexual now. I don’t want my kids seeing it at a place that’s meant for children. Just save the cross dressing for home. I pay for a family time not a homosexeual rights statement.

    1. Susan

      AMEN…I have nothing to add!!!

    2. Jj

      Amen…. And sooo right….

    3. Carol Ann

You are so right. And I’m glad you said it.

  11. Katie

I’m sick of homosexuals showing public displays of affection. It’s gross and sick and should be kept out of the public eye where kids and innocent minds are present. There’s a reason why homosexuality and transgender wasn’t such a big topic in the Bible, it’s because it was considered obviously so wrong and detestable that people back then didn’t even think it would become so publicly displayed. Keep it private and I have no problem of you guys keeping it in the closet.

  12. Jan

    Amen I feel the same!!!

The day Iger supported a queer parade but refused a traditional family parade during his first tenure was the day we decide to boycott the woke disney. Walt did not build a theme park for politics and perversity – it was built for the Children – non drugged, not programmed normal children!! We have been great fans and patrons of Universal and the Sea World Busch parks. Skip disney go zipline at Gatorland, take an airboat ride down the st johns, and visit the family owned Fun Spots!!! We have never regretted Universal – 3 generations and counting. If you are military be aure to ask for your discounts of appreciation! Disney cannot compete with Universal and Busch on annual pass discounts or gatorland’s free entry for the military member or the $23 tickets for Fun Spot. Skip the hype and the scam of Disney, enjoy your vacation again – and return with some cash in your pocket.

  14. Jeremy gunter

How can you say that Disney genie prices are back to the lowest they can go? I went in 2021 and genie plus was 15 dollars. Now it’s 23. Is that some Joe Biden/ federal government math?

    1. Janet

We took our autistic son at Christmas and it was such a disappointment for him. He didn’t get to meet any of the characters and the long wait for an autistic child is so stressful for him we only rode 2 rides. Not worth the price we paid or the time we had to wait to do anything. Won’t be going back there any time soon. He was so disappointed. We were sad for him.

  15. Laura

Walt is probably rolling over in his grave when he created the parks he wanted it for the average family to attend. The average family can’t afford to go to Disney World. The cost has gotten so high when I was there on my honeymoon in 2012 we stayed in the park with the food pass For a week and it cost two grand that doesn’t count the flight to get down there. I can’t imagine what that would be now and to add my son and the genie plus to all that. My friend is going down this summer. There’s five of them going and it’s costing her 10 grand.

  16. Charles Jenkins

Prices go down??? Don’t hold your breath on that happening.

  17. KIM PASCARELLA

Pricing themselves out of existence. For their prices you can go out into the real world and see real things. Less service higher prices

  18. Jamie Stradeski

Disney parks prices have definitely become way to expensive and way to unreasonable! It’s so sad and heartbreaking because I use to go every year and now I can no longer afford it. It has been 8 years since I was last there….

  19. RR

I guess we were horrible parents, we never took our children. I did go in high school and the only thing I had fun on was a space ride in the dark. It was hot, just walked around, and enjoyed one ride because it was air conditioned, I think it was the small world. We saved our money to go, and then my husband sustained a head injury in the line of duty, and had to retire. We wanted to move back home and we needed at least half that $ and we had already set the date we were going to Disney. So we asked the kids, would they like the trip to Disney or live in the same town as their grandparents and family, and they chose the later. My son went as a teen with his best friend and my daughter has 2 girls and has heard so many horrid stories she just doesn’t want to take them. I will say I wanted to take my granddaughters (idk why lol). But, I hear more complaining from people going after they’re back than I hear the good. Why would I stand in line all day for one ride and go back to my resort room and spending a weeks wages on food in 2-3 days? Ridiculous! Maybe I’m just not a theme park gal, but I’m glad there’s people that love the place and go and have fun

  20. Mary

We would love to take our grandchildren back. They were little and wore us out. We discovered that a cruise is a much better value We went on a 9 day, five island cruise for under $1500 per person. There are so many things for kids, your meals and other attractions are included in the price. On some of the newer ships, Carnival and Royal Caribbean, there are elaborate water parks on ship that don’t cost extra and guaranteed to delight the kids. Disney is ridiculously expensive. Won’t waste my money going there!

  21. Xor

Fags should have their own park then they can do what they want there instead of ruining it for the rest.

  22. Valerie

Too expensive. Lines are too long. Food too expensive. Disney is only for the upper class. They are the only ones that can afford it. Went to Disney World years ago and lines too long then. Went to Disneyland with my grandkids and EVERY major ride was shut down. Such a waste.

  23. Robb40

The movement to give Florida to Cuba is gaining steam. People aren’t going to Disney because they don’t like the mess or the cost of going to Florida. It’s no longer fun or relaxing. Maybe Cuba can fix it.

  24. TED

As a single parent I found it unaffordable to take my children to WDW despite them wanting to go just once. Now, if you are Canadian like we are, you can add ~40% in US-CDN exchange rates … what is expensive in US $’s just became grosdly unaffordable for us living N or S of the US. Instead, we went on other more affordable locations closer to home. Disney is a distant dream for the majority of us. Gouging food prices, expensive day passes, long long lineups, etc … no thank you. Solution to Disney pricing – boycot them / just don’t go.

  25. Annie

So happy my days of Disney are over. I do not believe this was ever Walt Disney’s envision.
