The DAS system was abused by people. Some hired a total stranger in a scooter to pretend to be a family member. Disabled people were making good money doing this. Disney figured it out. Now, they got to be tough. DAS doesn’t get you on all the rides with no wait. You have to chose 2 attractions. So even if you are eligible, you still have to buy genie plus.
I have used the DAS system for years. I’ve NEVER skipped a line. I just received a time to come back relative to the time we would have stood in line. My #1 pet peeve is that 1 disabled person could get 12+ people on with them. I only had myself, my daughter & my son. I did not abuse the system but I’m being punished. I’m immunocompromised among other things. I can’t stand for 1 hour is another. I have anxiety & shortness of breath. But now I don’t qualify. And I REFUSE to pay more. After 43 years of patronage to Disney, this is my reward.
Bob Iger is a money hungry, greed driven piece of garbage who needs to be ousted immediately. This has absolutely NOTHING to do with abusing the system. It is a clear ploy to financially exploit disabled individuals that don’t have his “pet” disability. He is saying if you don’t have my pet disability you don’t matter to me. You want to enjoy the parks, feed my bottom line. He is the worst form of bottom dweller.
What is going to happen is not only is Disney going to be facing multiple lawsuits, there are going to inevitably be an increase in physical fights as people inevitably lash out at those that are being catered to and favored while 95% of truly disabled guests who still need the system are financially exploited by a slime ball.
My friend and I have plans (and have paid thousands already) for a long stay at Disney World this summer. She needs DAS to avoid debilitating panic attacks in tight crowds. We’ve used it many times before. It does not allow skipping lines, but it definitely cuts down (not eliminates) the number of times we have to leave an attraction for her to get to a quiet place and recover.
The policy states—and cast members told her—that DAS is only for people with disabilities like autism that make waiting in lines impossible. This is, to a T, her situation. But there is no way for her to explain this under pressure, *because of her disability*.
A cast member even seemed to doubt her diagnosis, despite her history of using DAS and her doctor’s written opinion. The phrase “if you were really autistic” was actually used. It’s incredibly bad training, and it goes beyond insult to flat-out cruelty.

Oh really?
What hypocrisy. All that virtue signaling and flag-waving about diversity and inclusion.
