Piggy Backing here… I would tell a first timer to prioritize what your family wants to do most whether it’s hitting all (or as many of) the attractions, meeting characters, watching the shows/parades, etc. or whatever else may be important for your first trip!
My pro tip is to make sure to schedule meals or shows weaved in to all the rides! It really helps to take 30 minutes to sit down (in AC) to recharge so you can stay awake for all the nighttime activities!
Take lots of pictures, take it all in. Plan breaks in for the kids, especially if they are young. Alot to see from park open to close so want to be able to spend the day there. Also try and plan a day to stay at the resort.
Don’t try to do everything. There is just too much.
Plan on 1 or 2 resort days. The resorts have activities that anyone can do. I resort hop & do the different activities. Also, a few hours at the pool is refreshing. There are pool parties, too. I love the Disney Trivia games. We’ve made ice cream at Beach Club, African necklaces & decorated cookies at Animal Kingdom Lodge, Wilderness Lodge used to have duck races that were fun and of course Hidden Mickey hunts. Wilderness Lodge has a tour & scavenger hunt of the resort. You don’t have to be staying at the resort, to participate in the activities.
Sorry, I guess it wasn’t about the parks.
Get a map & know where bathrooms and shaded break locations are. When I would go with my younger grandson and he’d still nap, the Terrace Restaurant was a great place to sit, while he slept.

@Disneygirlforlife I would definitely tell a first timer to, definitely don’t try to do it all in one trip. Pace pace pace!!!
Yes, pace or plan for a 2 week vacation - and you will still just scratch the surface of what Disney has to offer!

Summer = Hydrate. period! The parks will push it too, free water at most QS restaurants!

Comfortable shoes. Make a list of what is most important that you want to see and best way to ensure you see them.
