I was so excited to meet Koda (Brother Bear) as an adult. I did ask for a hug and it was amazing. Seems if you are an adult, asking first is good etiquette. I don’t think I would hug a face character myself though.
I am a big hugger. A couple of years ago my son got me a shirt that says “Free Hugs”. When someone approaches me when I’m wearing it, they always ask. I always say yes. But at the same time, I also ask famous people I meet if I can hug them (depending on how deep of an impact they’ve had on me). If I get told no, I ask for a handshake. Still no, a fistbump. No three times, ok. Thanx for talking to me.
All the rules and regulations that are going on with Disney are ridiculous and getting out of hand… eventually people aren’t going to want to go because of crazy people getting off in the middle of rides/ rides breaking down, inappropriate behavior with employees in costume with customers, and tearing down old rides that were still popular so the CEO and company can make room for new areas of the park! They are totally destroying Walt Disney’s legacy and everything beneficial for the people who travel to both Disney Parks! I don’t think it’s a problem for adults to get a hug from the costumed characters just like the children… what makes them any different from the children?!? They are all there will their families and enjoying the fun of the park, however, if something happens, they should go to security and tell them what happened. Even adults who have special needs go to the parks as well , but should be supervised by someone! Employees have lashed out at times because of certain changes to the park , not getting paid enough, and being asked to leave because of staff! They take their anger out on the wrong people sadly, and it’s not right! Hopefully, they will soon change and things will come to a new and better understanding! But I believe that everyone, both adults and children, are allowed to hug and take pictures with the costumed characters!

Guy is lucky to have survived the encounter. Isn’t Aladdin the Disney assassin, the only cast member allowed kill guests?
Yon.
