Exactly right! It’s just like humans. It’s not safe out in the world, so we should move all people to prisons.

Did you really just say that!? There is definitely a place in our society for actual marine conservation parks that rescue, rehabilitate, and release sea animals (or give a permanent home to the ones that cannot be released back into the wild)… but places like the M.S.Q. and SeaWorld are not that. They do the bare minimum of “marine conservation” to make the claim that their priority is to rescue animals and educate the public… but their sole purpose is to make money. I’ve been to both the Miami Seaquarium and SeaWorld several times, and not once did I actually learn anything new about marine mammal conservation. It’s just a circus act to entertain people. I took my sister to SeaWorld for her 18th birthday (almost 20 years ago), and it cost me $1500 between tickets and food at the park etc for just the two of us (this was before it became public knowledge that marine mammals in captivity are abused, depressed, and miserable). Have you been living under a rock over the last 10 years? There are SO MANY documentaries, investigations, and park attendees video footage that have documented the abuse these animals suffer, even in the “high end” parks like SeaWorld. Miami Seaquarium is nothing short of a DUMP. There are so many videos that show the tanks literally falling apart, experts explaining odd behaviors from the whales and dolphins, just mountains of evidence that prove marine mammals have no business being in captivity and being forced to perform tricks for entertainment.

Like the comment before me said… the world is a dangerous place for people, so we should just put all humans in prison to keep them “safe” 🙄

Honestly, they should have released Lolita more than 10 years ago. People didn’t listen because she made MSQ lots of money and some people care more about money than the welfare of any innocent creature. Lolita actually still has family living off the coast of Washington State/Canada. I’m pretty sure that if they would have released her 20 years a go she would have been just fine in the ocean with her family. I used to go (once in a while) to MSQ when I was living in Miami. The last time I went was in 2006 (I believe.) At that time you could see mold near the tank of Lolita, the sea lion area, etc. The food offerings weren’t that great either. I don’t want to see MSQ shut down but, since they don’t seem to want to fix any of the many problems that they’re having, I guess closing it is the only way. Sad!!!!! Let’s wait and see what happens.

I smell BS and owners probably want to sell property for expensive condo development

BINGO YOU GOT IT. And they will let people who are liars and envirowack jobs make ridiculous claims, pump up negative press all to line their own pockets for some big cement jungle monstrosity that will bring them millions in bribes!

I smell BS and owners probably can sell property for many millions for condo development

  5. One Vet for all those animals; is absolutely ridiculous! These animals should be in their natural habitat just like us humans. If the animal needs to be rehabilitated and then kept for health purposes only then put them where people enjoy taking care of them properly. These attractions for animals (even circus’s) should not be allowed. People don’t go into the deep o ram to play or train these animals daily. It is not normal to them. Let them be free, shut the place down. The evidence is clear. Green nasty water, old outdated tanks, the upkeep is not being done properly, they don’t pay rent, another reason why they only have 1 OVERWHELMED veterinarian. I can’t imagine going to work everyday to be the only one to check the health of each and every animal on premises. Mercy. Then not having the proper equipment to even do so. No wonder these animals are having issues. Shut them down. It’s all about… having a job… you can’t pay for updates, equipment, another veterinarian, extra help with properly cleaning
