Dangerous jobs…my kids mowed the lawn with an electric lawnmower, did landscaping with sharp tools and built and repaired things from a young age. Would I be considered endangering them? Such silliness. The problem is too many kids don’t know what hard labor is and have become too soft. There are more protections at a job site then most homes.

That still doesn’t excuse the fact that we’re bringing back child labor and most jobs are too dangerous for kids to work at.
Mowing the Lawn and Landscaping can not be compared with working in a Tyson Factory. The “softness” of children may be thanks to your generation for messing up everything.

Florida is not going forward. They are working their way back to the days of indentured servents and worse. Child labor laws, lack of heat safety, what protections do unskilled laborers have in Florida today? Whatever protections they still have might be gone tomorrow. Small wonder there is a labor shortage in Florida. These bills and their strict immigration laws are chasing workers away.

So, where are the parents? If you do not want your teenager working at a particular job, you, as parents, have the right and obligation to say, “no”.
If, on the other hand, you have a responsible, mature teen, who is able and willing and you, as a parent, determine they can safely do the job, then they should be allowed to do it.
If an employer insists on them doing something dangerous or untoward, the teen has the option of quitting.
They can also contact law enforcement or the state if an employer is exploiting underage employees.
This bill is about freedom. Freedom of people to govern themselves and their children.
Children today don’t know what it is to work and actually EARN their living. They have been raised with an entitlement worldview and feel everything should be given to them on a silver platter. We, as a society, need to raise our children to understand the realities of life, which means being held accountable for your actions, that you need to earn your keep as an adult, and how to take care of themselves when they become an adult. Teenagers, for the most part, are old enough to start learning those things, instead of constantly staring at their phones and tablets and not interacting with others and the world around them.

The State of Florida is going backwards when there were no rights for workers.

The way that you people want to coddle these kids is toxic. When I was growing up, I was doing construction related work along with tree trimming and other “dangerous” jobs, like working with caustic chemicals. It helped to build a work ethic and motivated me to find the kind of job that I wanted to have. If anything, I’m grateful for the hard jobs that I had.

To the person that said assign chores to kids in order to help them grow, wrong. Period. There are no real stakes involved. The pocket change that kid may get by completing useless chores pales in comparison to the lessons that they’ll learn from actually having to work a real job. They’ll learn countless skills that will empower their lives. Hell, if I could have had that opportunity 25 years ago, I’d be much better off today.

To the naysayers, you know nothing of actually being a real working person. You probably sit in your offices at cushy jobs not really putting in any meaningful work. These kids will now have the ability to drive by something that they helped create and take pride in that accomplishment. Can you?

But why give them jobs that could kill them? Besides, most of these jobs will either be taken over by AI or eventually phased out.

Child labor is child labor! Whether kids are soft or hard! What’s next? Slaves again?!!!!!!!!!!!

Considering it’s apparently on the ballot on some states AND considering Project 2025, it’s very likely…

Despicable for a country & a party that pretends to have “family values”….
