This isn’t possible. This didn’t happen. The mechanism for rotating the vehicle may have failed but if the vehicle derailed it would have stopped the whole ride immediately. 100% fake story.

Derail is a very strong word, and I think the guest is confused about the type of malfunction they experienced. Sometimes a vehicle will not complete its full revolution towards the screens, and the ride will be perceived as off or not working. All the safety features are still in tact, even if the show elements are not all working in the moment. If a vehicle fails its safety checks, it is not put into service for guests, or if a vehicle is observed with a potential safety issue it is no longer loaded and sent to maintenance bay for further troubleshooting and maintenance work. Needless to say, if the ride system sense something major like a derailment, the ride will stop itself and cast will have to evacuate all of the guests currently in the ride area. I’m sure this guest experienced a non working show experience, but I’m positive the vehicle was more than safe to be occupied by guests.

This is total BS. The way it’s designed it would have completely shut down. And to point fingers at cast members is ludicrous. More attention seeking. Sad indeed.

Seems they need some derailment sensors for shutdown.

This does happen at the parks, years ago our car on space mountain jumped the tracks, and thankfully I’m still here jumped back on them.We we’re in the front seats ,and a father and his young son was behind us. Very scary…

Unfortunately, I disagree with every one of you saying this couldn’t happen.

I rode Web Slingers on its opening day. We made it through the ride okay, but as we made the last turn back towards being in line with the disembarking spot, something dropped off the vehicle with a massive CLANG that reverberated through the corridor. The vehicle began to shake as it was still continuing along the track and then something pushed or pulled free and the vehicle began to scrape along the track.

When we got to the station, the cast members looked stunned and then called for help. It took around 15 minutes for them to get the vehicle doors open and get us out of there.

So while I agree there are safeguards in place, I have first-hand experience with that ride having mechanical problems that impacted its ability to run correctly on the track.
