There was NOTHING even remotely “Racist” about “Splash Mountain” or the cartoon characters it contained!!! Just because some movie content is believed to be “racist” does NOT condemn every aspect of that film!!! Disney has even gone so far as to ban the award winning SONG from the movie, which is total BS! The FACT that some individuals BELIEVE that “Song of the South” was a “racist movie” just prove how narrow minded some people can be — these are the same people that DREAM UP NEW THINGS TO “consider racist” &/or to be offended by!!!
Enough with the “Splash Mountain and Song Of The South is racist” rhetoric. Anyone with a brain and knows the history behind the story of Br’er Rabbit knows there isn’t anything racist about it.
No. Definitely not excited that Disney changed the beautiful Splash Mountain. For the few that didn’t like the ride, well they’re not happy with anything in their life.
I love how people are trying to defend (and failing miserably) Splash lol. Honey, the film it’s based on is 70+ years old, offers no context to when it takes place, and it’s breakout song that has similarities to a minstrel song.
If they had worked with the NAACP on the ride, maybe they should’ve have focused on that in the promotion for the ride instead of saying “hey, this ride is based on the animation of an old film we rereleased a couple years ago.”
It should also be noted that the opening song has the line “This heart of mine is in the heart of Dixie.” Dixie, also known as Dixieland or Dixie’s Land, is a nickname for all or part of the Southern United States. Most commonly, it’s associated with the old South and Confederate states. Dixie was considered the land south of the Mason-Dixon line, where slavery was legal. But once the term was used in a minstrel song, its correlation with racist ideologies became crystal clear, according to Ingram.
Also, nothing is being banned. As far as I’m aware, Zip A Dee Doo Dah can still be accessable through WokeTube (and with the Disney’s Ultimate Hits at Woke Target) along with the entire film thanks to people like the Br’er Patch.
You couldn’t be more wrong. Song of the South is not racist and neither is Splash Mountain which is not closed in Disneyland or Disney World. There is no Tiana ride coming or being built and you have no right to say what’s racist. There is also no similarities between Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah or any “minstrel” song. That’s a debunked rumor and the person who started that rumor went to prison for it. Disney also did work the the NAACP on Splash and I will be enjoying plunging into the Briar Patch with Br’er Rabbit with my kids at WDW on October 1, 2046 and at Disneyland on July 17, 2055 in Tiana-less parks.

Not at all in the slightest. You have no right to say what’s racist or not.
Steve
No resemblance at all and you have no right to say what is racist.
