Time to sell the rest of any stock I have in Disney… not a wholesome family company producing family entertainment… but goal to indoctrinate the youth of this country… can go straight to hell for all I would care… raise you children they way you see fit, but for me and mine, we will go another way.
Please explain how the inclusion of a gay protagonist “indoctrinates” children – and why the same isn’t true of Disney’s numerous straight protagonists.
Regardless of whatever their point might be, exclusively from the point of view of profit (and isn’t that the main reason they exist), their current attitude is just not a good idea.
The subject matter lately is so far removed from the core Disney supporters, I hope the very small audience these projects are aimed at can hold up the “woke” ideology. As for me and my family, my money won’t be spent to see this non sense.
Disney focusing on themes that reflect what a significant portion of teens already experience in real life, portrayed with sensitivity, heart and humor? Sounds like an absolute win, and possibly even a trailblazing film.
We do and did Disney for family time and family values. Not at all against homosexuality but not at all interested in hearing about it in film either. Stay in your lane that you do well Disney which is family. Not this perverted sexuality you keep putting in movies. I guarantee you that most people in society agree and the movie will bomb like every other crap film they’ve put out the past few years. Go woke go broke.
I just watched the trailer. How does envy, anxiety, humiliation & sarcasm turn into lesbianism? I’ve clearly not seen the entire film but so far I fail to see this as reasonably factual.
I assume that you’d also object to a Disney film in which a 13-year-old girl has a crush on a male schoolmate.
The broad concept of romantic attraction among young teenagers must be what bothers you, given that you’re “not at all against” the existence of gay people.
I think it’s an especially risky direction to go, commercially, but honestly this isn’t anything teenagers aren’t already experiencing in high school on a day to day basis. My daughter is in high school and these topics and themes are pretty much par for the course every day in her life.
The issue is whether this is troublesome thematically for a kids movie, or a sequel to a kids movie that many parents will assume is fine for the same younger set as the first one. The filmmakers seems to be thinking of it as that audience grew up but are ignoring the fact that not everyone who is going goinf to see it is of high school age now.
Regardless if its a point of discussion in your kids school classroom, most parents in America today think its a bad discussion, a bad influence, and is corrupting our kids viewpoint. I specifically do not want that kind of influence towards wrong, bad, illicit behavior in my kids lives.
This article frankly seems sensational to me, as though a few silly tweets guarantees that Disney will continue down this path of destruction–this may not be the case and I certainly hope its not.
But all of the homosexual and otherwise anti-moral stories normalizing and celebrating the wrong in our society (even if that wrong is a daily occurence in some kids lives) has made me distrust them as a corporation and source for enertainment for my family.
Sad, because they have been historically the pinnacle of immersive experiences and customer service.
What you are doing is an extension of the school systems forcing WOKE AND BEING QUEER on children. I don’t know if you think about this, but if everyone turned into fags there would be no population over time. Walt would have never done this. That was not his make-up. He has rolled over in his grave many times. GO BACK TO THE ORIGINS OF DISNEY AND MAKE IT FUN FOR EVERYONE!
Yes, let’s return to films about happy Black plantation workers in the Reconstruction-era American South and Black centaurs polishing Caucasian centaurs’ hooves. That was “fun for everyone!”
Just don’t let the characters get too uppity. We wouldn’t want children to be “turned into” Blacks by seeing them depicted with dignity.
Just using your own logic for a second, Paul: if you are a heterosexual male today, it’s because of the Disney movies you watched growing up, and it has nothing to do with how you were born. If you are Christian today, it must have everything to do with the Christmas content of so many Disney movies you grew up watching, because that’s just how powerful Hollywood is at indoctrinating people into the Christian faith by shoving it down their throats. You had no control over it.
I think some people are ascribing a theme.to the movie that fits their interest. I don’t think the scene of Riley being awestruck by another girl at school is an indication of anything except “Wow, she looks so cool. I want to be that cool.” It’s a perfectly normal behavior for teen girls.
As for all of you commenting (AGAIN) on “woke” ideology, I suspect you have no idea where the term came from, what ir really means or how dumb you sound. Their films are reflecting the real world now, where not eveyone is a straight white xtian. So please, skip the film. More room in the theater for me.
And if you hate Disney so much, why are you here?
“Χ” is a scribal abbreviation of “Χριστός” (the Greek word for “Christ”). This shorthand is believed to have arisen in the 4th century, when Christians adopted the symbol to communicate their mutual membership in the church.
This tradition entered the English language around the beginning of the 12th century, with the use of “Xtian” for “Christian” (and related abbreviations) appearing in written English since the 17th century at the latest.
To paraphrase Davis, nowhere in this trailer did Riley project herself as being lesbian. To each their own, I say. However, I don’t want sexuality shoved onto my kid in the form of a movie that appears cute and funny. Perhaps Disney should just put that same label, “This movie may be offensive to some”, on all of their movies. I do think if Disney makes Riley part of the alphabet gang, the flick will go the same route as Lightyear, Red Panda, Strange Worlds and a few others with like themes. I thought the original was pretty good otherwise.
Well at least Kung Fu Panda 4 and Willy Wonka were good. Guess I’ll be skipping this one. Such a disappointment because the first one was just so good.

If this is the case then Disney is doing it’s best to go out of business by continuously disregarding it’s main consumers.
David
Who are Disney’s main customers – and how is the company disregarding them?
Mike
The other 94%
C J
Absolutely correct.
David
Please elaborate.
Are you suggesting that 94% of the filmgoing public disapproves of homosexuality?
Julie
Yes, exactly. You and Disney want to normalize immoral behavior and while it’s fine for you, it’s not fine for me. That’s my choice, not yours
David
Please elaborate.
Are you suggesting that 94% of the filmgoing public disapproves of gay people’s existence?

It’s suggesting that immoral and degenerate sexual practices are okay and should be acceptable.

Absolutely incorrect.

I dare you to explain how…if you can, that is.

Love how all the commenters automatically assume this lesbian storyline rumor is absolutely true! 🙄
Fuque
And here we are, Disney making a movie about kids and sex. Awesome.
David
Where in the trailer – or in anyone’s highly speculative interpretation thereof – are you perceiving “sex”?
A
I so agree

After reading through this comment thread, my biggest takeaway is the woke folks teaching the non-woke folks what words mean. That speaks volumes.

Wow didn’t see this one coming. I see Disney is continuing its gay agenda.
Wokey Dwarf
I see them continuing an INCLUSIVE agenda. I can’t imagine who would have a problem with that, unless it’s someone who lacks Christian values.
