Disney has wrecked Splash Mountain, and by doing so they severely damaged the Magic Kingdom. There are a few rides left that have anything to do with a genuine Walt Disney movie; it’s mostly just facades. They have canceled the man, Walt Disney, the one who is the reason for every bit of success that they’ve ever had.
They have completely misunderstood the character and purpose of Song of the South; the movie that Splash Mountain was based on. It was made at a time when black people could not even go into a white theater, and so Walt Disney presented Uncle Remus in the glory of his sterling and saint-like character. And at the end of the movie not only is Uncle Remus presented as a great hero, but you see the white children and the black children playing together. It’s a movie about racial reconciliation and inclusion. Even many black people, including those whose family members were voice characters for the movie, loved Splash Mountain and think it’s ridiculous that they’ve removed it. For the current Disney management to say that they wanted to be inclusive is totally incompetent. It demonstrates that the Disney company needs entirely new management and entirely new creative staff.

Also, you have to remember that SOTS lacked any context as to what year it is set in, has racist dialect and the breakout song has some similarities to “Zip Coon.” The film wasn’t seen as racist to the actors as they worked on the film, so they had all the context. The public, however, did not. And yes, Walt did lobby for James Baskett to get an honorary award, Walt was racist during his career in Hollywood, supported American Imperialism and possibly anti-Semitism.
Also, the film has been put online for all to see so it hasn’t been completed blacklisted by the “WoKe MoB” like some might say.

Song of the South is not racist and neither is Splash Mountain. It is not closed in WDW or Disneyland. There is no Tiana coming and you have no right to say what’s racist. There is also no similarities between Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah and Zip Coon. That’s debunked and the person who started that rumor went to prison. Walt Disney was also not racist or an anti semite and Meryl Streep and Abigail Disney went to prison for saying that, too.

In the end, things change, deal with it.
