Why is he concerned about the financial expenditures of these legal issues? Has he forgotten that the Disney Company is fronting both sides of the argument either directly or indirectly? The funding for the CFTOD side comes from taxes paid in by the Disney Company as those of the 34 residents is so small it is almost non-existent. Then, of course, they have to fund their own side. So, where does the state of FL shoulder the expense? In paying a judge for overseeing the case? He’d be paid without doing anything because he’s salary.
We coastal elites have been in our own lawsuits a couple of times. The court always orders settlement talks to avoid the expense of trial (which costs the state more than it ever brings in). This is normal procedure, the settlement talks, at least the early ones, often never end in settlement.

Desantis is absolutely the worst governor I have ever seen. I am 81 yrs old and am very sad for Florida to have this man.

It’s fun to watch DeSantis losing his grip. Closed-door settlements are the last refuge of a desperate man who’s in way over his head.
