That doesn’t have anything to do witj Disney. How about Disney just stays out of politics and just run their parks

    1. Shaggygorilla

But disney didn’t say anything read the hit piece

    2. Tootsie Tolliver

How about you read an entire article prior to commenting?

They are walking on a very slippery slope…. interesting that conservatives have historically been for less governmental control…. now the far right is wanting MORE governmental control…. better look at history to see were this could end…

This new legislation literally has nothing to do with Disney. This is a state–wide issue in Florida, not specific to Disney or its parks. Its ironic how Disney executives choose to get involved in politics, then complain when politicians make Disney Corporation suffer the consequences, like the revocation of self-governance in Orlando. Walt Disney would have never agreed to allow biased politics to mar the reputation of his parks or cost his shareholders profits. Disney needs to focus on entertainment and stay away from politics, period. They have nothing to gain and everything to lose.

You put 16 and under, that’s wrong. It’s under the age of 16 so if you’re 16 and up then it doesn’t pertain to you. From the actual bill:

“For purposes of bringing an action in accordance with
subsections (3) and (4), a social media platform that allows a
Florida minor younger than 16 years of age to create an account on such platform is considered to be both engaged in substantial
and not isolated activities within this state and operating,
conducting, engaging in, or carrying on a business, and doing
business in this state and is therefore subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of this state.

Also I agree with the other comments that this is a statewide issue and has nothing to do with just WDW. Please stay out of politics!

But what then would the left be able to try and mislead the rest of us about?????

      1. Shaggygorilla

Or the right remember space Laser lady

      2. Yvonne

That seems to be the opposite of parental rights. Odd.

    2. Shaggygorilla

Disney hasn’t said anything that I know of

    3. Teddy Gingerich

But it does have something to do with the thousands of young people who visit WDW every day. Is the state going to ban everyone 16 and under from social media? Will it only be for Florida residents? What happened to the party of limited government?

      1. Johnny Noname

It’s under 16, not 16 and under. The author got it wrong.

Did you look to see who authored the comment prior to commenting? Thought not…..

And, the bill does affect everyone signing up for social media accounts. Remember that little proof of age bit? Yeah, everyone has to provide proof of age prior to getting an account. The apparent plan is to have a third party verify age prior to giving access. That means you’ll be releasing far more information to some hack company than you would have just being allowed to access the app to begin with. So, who has access to the information contained in that app and what are they doing with it???

This site is starting to be come full of non-disney posts…. This has nothing to do with Disney, NOR does Disney probably care… as an IT professional, I want to see how this is going to be proposed??? there is no way to validate anybody ages without using credit card reporting systems.. How about just banning the use of the internet for people under the age of 18? I didn’t get a cell phone until i was 18..

    1. Yvonne

Because that law would be a wast of time and money. The instant enough of them could vote, they would get rid of anyone who voted for hat bill. Plus, kids have access to too much spending money for that to ever fly here. I bet you had a TV.

    2. Dave 62

This site is pushing propaganda to enrage people, not to talk about what’s cool in the parks 🙄. It’s about time they get control of that stuff . Never used it never will

  6. Brian

So the culture of everyone being glued to their phones is a good thing? Who wouldn’t want to change that? I personally think cell phones in general should be banned from the parks for everyone. Put the devices away and enjoy what Walt built us!.

    1. Nia

No phones should not be banned

      1. Steve

Yes they should and when I take over Disney, you won’t be using your phone for anything. No apps, no reservations, no mobile ordering, no line skipping services, no nothing. Just be glad I will not be jamming all cell phones entirely, preventing people from making phone calls or texting their family members or others in their party.

  7. Dave 62

Ya disney got toooo much $$$ in that app, they depend on you using your phone in the parks $$$, and not paying attention and enjoying the beautiful dream of walts.you might as well set at home and you tube the parks and save some $$$

Absolutely unenforceable and does nothing for Florida residents. Not saying social media is good for teens or anyone else for that matter, just that this is so easily circumvented that it’s a complete waste of taxpayer money. We have real issues in Florida that this failed former Presidential candidate refuses to address. Soon to be failed former Governor.

  9. George Reynolds III

This will NEVER go through! There is ABSOLUTELY NO WAY to enforce it or to prove that the user is under age18!

  10. Jody

Disney has nothing to do with this and have made no statement. The only asshat involved in this is DeSantis the wannabe dictator. Why don’t he spend more time on making life affordable in this state and less time trying to take control of other people’s children. I don’t recall anyone asking for his opinion on how we raise our children. Funny how everyone else in this country can see what a useless piece of crap he is except those who are in his pocket in this state.

  11. Tony

Taking away the platforms that currently promote the reason why many people come to Florida hurts who and how? Who can answer that?

  12. Phillip

Glad I moved out of Florida!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  13. George

The govt shouldn’t have the ability to do anything unless they’re ordered to by the people!!!!!! I’d like to add, social media has fried the adults minds as well!
