Those employees are being replaced by others from Transcom. An international company with employees who live in other countries. No attempt is being made to find other jobs for the US employees who have been laid off.
I wish that they would open more physical stores all over the world. But, I doubt that that’ll ever happen. For different reasons. 1. Internet shopping is more and more popular (not as many people want to go or want to make the time to go to the physical store.)
2. People may start protesting because the company is too “woke.” So even trying to open any physical store could cause some bad blood. 3. It costs money to have a store and Disney (at least in the past decade more or less) doesn’t seem to want to spend money on anything that they feel wouldn’t bring more money into the company. 4. They’re selling stuff in Target, I guess that it’s better for them since it’s cheaper to have a another store to sell your stuff (limited amount of stuff) than it is to have an actual store owned by Disney. I still wish that there were more actual Disney Stores in the world. I used to live in Miami, Florida and there was a Disney store about a 4 minute drive from the house. That store closed years ago. Oh well!!!

To them, it just isn’t worth it. There are a lot more people shopping on line than at actual stores. It costs money to maintain a store open. So, I guess that it’s better for them to let Target sell their stuff. Even though what they sell isn’t as much as what you would find at an actual store dedicated to just selling Disney stuff.
