When your paying your CEO Bob Iger 27 million dollars for a salary per year, you pass the costs onto the poor people that would like to go to the Disney parks. Disney is no longer for the common everyday folks of America. Prices are through the roof and only the wealthy can comfortably go. I’ve been going to Disney since 1976 and now that I’m retired I just don’t have the income to visit the parks any longer. I do miss going………….
In referring to the sign outside of Disney World it should read the most “expensive ” place on earth. Who can afford to visit any of the Disney parks here in the state? With admission , parking some close to 200.00 who can afford to spend that kind of money? Disney is definitely for the rich.
Casinos are ripoffs. Asking casino people about ripoff places is kind of a contradiction isn’t it? After leaving a casino what have you got? After leaving Disney I have great memories. If you don’t want to go to Disney, don’t go. Why don’t they ask Disney lovers what are ripoffs – casinos. And by the way, I was at EPCOT last weekend. It was packed.
Absolutely sad at what I see today as compared to 30 years ago. it truly was a 0lace of joy, a magical escape. This past week I felt like I was walking through the county fair with all the carnival folks trying to steal my wallet.
Not only now mostly for the wealthy, but middle class can go into serious debt to take their family there. As a former AP holder, now retired, we won’t go back
Lightning Lane is causing the Standby times to greatly exceed the posted times. This week some rides were 45 to 60 minutes longer than posted times due to preferential treatment of lightning lane. Won’t be back unless major changes are made. Can only get in 4 rides in 10 hours, not fun!
Oh, bother! I have a trip booked for December 2024 (my 7th time visiting, and 4th time for my child) But I fear it will be our final trip… It’s just too expensive and there’s no reason for it to be that way. I am well aware that I’m incredibly privileged to be able to do this, it should be more accessible to others! Disney world is Gross and Greedy, such a shame… But I will make to most of my final trip!
The cost to go has risen faster than paychecks. Used to go once a year…sadly it’s been several years and can’t see it in the near future. I’m considered middle class. Guess it truly is for the rich.
So many posts complaining about Disney pricing… it’s a business not a charity. This is how they generate money for shareholders. If you can’t afford it, go to your local state fair or to one of the many state parks.
Attendance is still at pre-Covid levels if not higher so clearly the demand is there. They aren’t going to adjust pricing until they see attrition. Quite honestly Universal Studios is heading in the same trajectory and both of these theme park networks continue to grow despite the folks who say they won’t come back.
You are correct that it is a Busn. BUT it is Walt’s Company until he passed and Roy run it for awhile. If Walt was still kicking he would be very mad at the pricing and several other things. But on the pricing Walt wanted it to be where a family could go without going deep in debt which is happening now for the families who still go!!
In the last 4-5 years, grocery prices have doubled, gas prices have doubled, and housing prices have doubled…yet Disney ticket prices in the same period have really only gone up for peak season (was $109-159, now $109-189). Wages have likewise gone up steadily the last few years so Disney is relatively MORE affordable now than 5 years ago. If this is not the case for you sir, you need to manage your finances better.
So I just need to add my two cents. We as a family have many fond memories of disney. Now that we are retired ” kinda” we bought into DVC, good or bad. Yes, its very expensive and yes there is a lot of people there. Is it worth it I don’t have a definite answer, I do know seeing my grandkids enjoying it makes me so very happy. We will continue to go and enjoy what we do, as for Disney fixing prices, lessening, or bringing back some of the old perks that is probably not going to happen unless attendance drops drastically. My only issue with Disney is the shift that seems to be away from Walt Disney ideas. Does Iger deserve his salary, again time will tell. Is he the death knell to the mouse who knows all the issues that are talked about lay with the public, they decide on what is appropriate and what is worth the price. I only know that for me I do less Disney then five years ago, and my enthusiasm is less for the house of mouse. The irony now is I have more grandkids then kids, and more time to go there with the amity to afford it. I tell my wife and whoever asks it’s not the same, its not happiest place anymore. Hopefully things will change for the better. Disney was founded for families, Read Walts story, it was developed to include the young at heart and for all to enjoy. I believe that the dream has been tarnished and changed. It still is good but it’s losing its luster.
I went to Disney 2 weeks ago after not going for 10 years. Safe to say I don’t need to go for another 10 years. Place is an overated absolute ripoff. Plus standing in line for over an hr. In each ride is not only moronic but I also felt like the biggest sucker on earth for me to pay them $$$ to stand in line for a 1 minute ride
Disney is not for the average family anymore.the cost for tickets and food are outrageous.what ever happened. I’m a dvc member and can’t even get in to my home resort they over book and I have never had a room a 1 or 2 bedroom that didn’t have some kind of problem with it.they charge a arm and leg for dues you shouldn’t have to call to have problems fixed.walt would be turning over if he saw this going on
I live here and avoid this place like the plague !!! I was one of the first people to experiment the park when it first opened the a tickets the b tickets and c tickets ….. wow have things changed. I’ve been probably 100 times in my lifetime how much money as a Florida resident have I wasted? Grad night special occasions long long lines… then worst of the worst red shirt day where you are surrounded by…. Well never mind…. It is not worth the $$$ it’s snake oil…. Read a book let your imagination take over Walt Disney would roll over in his grave if he knew what they had done to his idea..
It is a rip off because at the end of the day it is only Disney World. I can see paying that much if you’re from another country, but if you live in America there are so many better places to vacation to for a lot less money.
Used to go to Disney World once a year. Now on Socialsecurity and out of Florida it’s too expensive!!! Your website is the closest I get to Disney World!!!
If you look at recreation value as the what you receive for the price paid then Disney comes up short. For the middle class family, Disney Parks offer far fewer services for the price paid versus pre-pandemic. At Disney Parks, Fast Pass is gone, there are fewer rides and attractions, the cast members are not as friendly, there is far more rude behavior from guests (So many clearly intoxicated 20 and 30 somethings), the parks are dirtier, and Disney has decided to lean hard into the culture war and it shows in the parks.
Then if you compare Disney Parks against other recreational opportunities, there are dozens of theme parks, cruise lines, ski resorts and all-inclusive resorts that offer exponentially more value than Disney.
Our family has priced out a lot of options. For $139 per person, you can go to Dollywood for 3 days. For $119, you can go to Silver Dollar City for 3 days. Cedar Point is $49/day. Kings Dominion is $70 for two days. Busch Gardens is $99 for two days, two parks. You can go to Great Wolf for a week for less than a family of four would spend for one day at a Disney Park. The list goes on and on and that’s just theme parks.
It’s less money to go on a cruise than to go to a Disney Park. Most ships are like a floating theme park.
Even a ski trip or an all inclusive is cheaper and you get to do so much more than stand in lines and get nickel and dimed for everything.
Yes, Disney Parks are a rip off. The magic is dead. Save money and have more fun by going some place else. Maybe that will finally force Disney to make the changes it needs to make so it can become the place we all once loved.

Disney needs to change the direction it is going and the leadership needs to ask themselves WHAT WOULD WALT DO and get back on Walt’s track !

It has priced itself away from the average family. It’s a shame because my family grew up going to Disney but no more.

In 2011 Turkey leg cost 9 dollars
How much today?
