I’m over it. It’s been 22 years. It’s a lay over. Not meant to be a permanent thing rehashed year after year. 5 months of normal Haunted Mansion is not enough! Create a new Halloween layover elsewhere. How about Big Thunder Mountain Railroad or the Matterhorn? Where’s the imagination in rehashing this same overlay over and over and over?! I want normal Haunted Mansion back.

Disneyland broke ground the day I was born, July 17, 1954 and opened on that day one year later. Walt said that “As long as there is imagination, Disneyland will never be completed.” In that spirit, as the Imagineers developed robotics and special effects we were gifted the Haunted Mansion in 1969. The conversion to the Nightmare Holiday Haunted Mansion is a brilliant change for most Disneyland fans. However, two things: one, I think Nightmare deserves its own attraction that can be seasonally altered. Two, people need to realize that in life the only constant is change. Do, even if the HHM isn’t set-up the Haunted Mansion will change. If not, it will fade into obscurity and along with it, our beloved Park will go away. Thank you for nearly 69 years of amazing fun, and for treating me and my family like VIP’s when we’re in the Park on my and Disneyland’s Birthday every July 27th!

Sorry for the two typos. Obviously July 27th, not 27th. Duh!

  3. Oh, I vote for ‘Nightmare…’ to have it’s own ride/location! The fans would love it and, yes, Disney can afford it. I miss the Haunted Mansion when it goes and it’s nice to hear others feel the same way. I didn’t know it was for that long! Someone needs to fix that. Would ‘they’ do that to ‘Pirates..’?

Well that is just stupid. Just leave the Haunted Mansion alone. There should not be any overlay. I like the way the Haunted Mansion is just the way it is. Nightmare should have its own attraction. Halloween and Christmas should never be combined. They are two different holidays. Why should the Haunted Mansion and Nightmare be combined? I vote to keep the Haunted Mansion one attraction and Nightmare another attraction.
