While I enjoy both films, I don’t think that Pixar and Disney are necessarily “pushing the bounds” of what animation can be as a medium anymore. Several of the nominated films are EXCELLENT, not to mention play with and stretch the limits of both artistic & technological bounds of animation. I think it’s justified! If you want to stay ahead, don’t simply stick to a formula.
Finally, Disney is having reality that DEI, ESG and Wokeness leads to Brokeness. I am sure the folks commenting about Wish and Elementals being great movies didn’t buy any of the merchandise. The Disney Parks didn’t have any popcorn buckets or sippers of characters from these movies either. Bob Iger continues to destroy The Walt Disney Company and needs to leave with the rest of his lackeys.
Snubbed is a strong word for those movies. Especially when comparing them to the movies that were nominated. Disney is in a pipeline of “content” right now. They don’t care to make art or something truly impactful. It’s not wokeness and it’s not something else awful. It’s just greed creating awful standards and working conditions for hard working animators and storytellers.
Comments for Disney Snubbed for Best Animated Feature for First Time in 30 Years

I think “Wish” deserves the Best Animated Feature nomination and win, and “Elemental” also deserves the nomination for Best Animated Feature.

Annie Award? OH NO!!!……….
When you produce excrement this is the result.

You mean of you produce excrement you get nominated.

Disney and Pixar don’t need to change, the audience does. Destroy the current audience and start afresh.

How are these films representative of “wokeness.”
Incidentally, can you define woke for me? Everyone uses a different definition, so if like to know what you believe it to be.
Wokey Dwarf
He can’t even spell “Poncho Villa” right and you expect him to define “woke” correctly? LMAO!
