I totally see this happening! I lived in Tokyo for a short while during pandemic. Disney Tokyo was AMAZING during that time. They limited park access to just a small crowd so you walked right onto any ride, no wait. The only thing that’s really different is the merch. They don’t have NEARLY the amount of merch or shops that the American parks do. A much smaller selection in much fewer stores. I can easily see a frenzy when something new or limited edition comes out. Duffy is hugely popular there because it’s so kawaii! I highly recommend going if anyone has the chance, but I recommend Tokyo DisneySea even more. It’s completely original from all the other parks. It’s especially awesome for Little Mermaid, Aladdin and Jules Vern fans! Be prepared though because tickets are hard to get unless you have a Japanese bank account or use an agent. Also, ride lines at Disney Sea are long, longer than Disneyland by a good amount.
