I am devastated by this news. We love Disney+ and can’t imagine streaming services without it. I suppose that means I should not renew my subscription when it comes up in a week or so?
Whether subscribers want it or not, the service they’re used to will be going away soon, and Iger can only hope they’ll be satisfied with what he wants them to buy instead.
The reason I stream is to get away from ad service crap that takes up 25 minutes of every hour of content on TV. Plus crappy cable TV models are why streaming started. I don’t watch a million things only a few. Now we’re going backward. We’re going to have content we never wanted shove in our faces plus ads again for an outrageous cable package prices because stock holders have to make a dividend every year. Boooo Disney. Booooo
Actually, it’s been working wonders in other countries that offer both Hulu and Disney as a whole. In Canada it’s called star instead of Hulu with three options with basic ad tier being the lowest from only $13 a month with 3-4 ads that last 30 seconds each so it’s not as bad as most people think it’ll be. Still not a fan of Disney but they seemed to knock it out of the park with their streaming game
Right, but the issue is, I only have Disney+ for my grandbaby, and do not use, need, nor want the other stuff! So for me it’s a flat-out cost increase, likely a significant one, for ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! NOT happy.
I agree, the same for me. I only have Disney+ for the grandbaby and will not need the other stuff. I already have Prime and Netflix. Well I just signed up. I will not be renewing. Nor will I want to pay more to access.
Hi so are they asking us to be prepared to cancel the app or just be prepared that there would be more stuff that kids couldn’t watch like the Simpsons persay
They are releasing a new app, which will have content from Disney AND Hulu in the same app. Disney streaming isn’t actually ending, just merging with Hulu. They are saying that parents should prepared for the fact that the new app will have Hulu content, which may not be appropriate for young viewers. This statement implies that the new app will not have parental controls, or “kids only” profiles. So, be prepared to have a talk with your kids after they accidentally click on mature content. Also, I’m worried that mature content may auto-play from the Hulu library after a kid watches a Disney movie. The metircs for auto-play are already weird on Hulu – Sometimes it plays related content, sometimes it doesn’t.
I honestly believe there will be age based accounts within the new app. It more of a friendly update to families they might have review the settings and create an age based account if they hadn’t already done that in Disney+
I buy Disney for the fact that it is Disney and Disney alone. Sure, I also pay for the bundle but I would prefer it to all be separate. There is definitely stuff I don’t want me 8 year old to have access to. I don’t think this is the right call for Disney and they may actually loose subscribers
I will
Not pay more for what I don’t want. There are so many streaming venues to choose from that cost less and still have great quality. Why pay more when I don’t have too.
We already pay for all 3 of those now (hulu, disney+, ESPN+). Is this going to increase my monthly cost, or just be nicer for me having them all under 1 app?
I don’t understand why they wouldn’t just make parental controls on this new version??? You know it’s going to be an issue, fix the problem before the launch…
Unfortunately people complained about the current service and weren’t willing to pay for the luxury of having only Disney programming. This seems like the best way to stop have access to the content, while allowing the service to be offered.
So Disney is yet again trying to corner another market by exploiting their programming to hardworking Americans through their children. Classic Disney, they aren’t even any good anymore, not like they were back in the good ol days.
Honestly, I feel as though more people would have disney + if there was a way to personalize the home page with genres of interest to the individual family. A questionnaire when setting up your profile when you sign up. We personally enjoyed many of the classics and not the newer shows, and young adult cartoons.
I won’t be staying on and enabling greedy Iger and Disney anymore. We don’t NEED Disney. I’m not risking my kids seeing things that they shouldn’t. I’m the keeper of my family. I have spoken.
I agree. I DO NOT want gay content shown on my home Disney+ page. We should be able to set up our home page to personalize it. We ONLY watch the classic Disney movies that were wholesome like Walt Disney intended. We also enjoy the Star Wars movies!
If I wanted Hulu, I’d subscribe to Hulu. We won’t be keeping our subscription to Disney + especially if the cost goes up. TV programming is not that important.
Bad idea. I can’t even imagine the price increase. I already canceled hulu because they kept raising the prices. And definitely won’t go back. I hope they are prepared to loose more money.
Unfortunately it seems like a lot of things have a price increase. Wonder if the price increase compares to what they have. Hopefully I worded it right.
No it doesn’t compare that’s why i left and the fact they just had to start the advertising crap.
Netflix will be raising prices next month and i may bee leaving them as well.
There is a small chance i might stay with flix because they do have much more content even though a lot of isn’t all that good but if you search good enough you’ll probably find something.
New season of Andor will premiere in August. You can still use your stand-alone app to access Disney Plus and won’t be forced to subscribe to Hulu or ESPN if you don’t want to.
This is unfortunate. My family watches Disney plus a lot because it has something for everyone. I like knowing my family is watching something age appropriate on Disney plus
I just canceled my subscription because of the price increase. I have Hulu as well. I guess I’ll see what the price goes too. We use Hulu much more than we did Disney plus.
Because of price inflation, Netflix is about to loose a lot of customers too. If I have to pay almost $25 a month for a service, I need to have access to other apps + 2 premium apps for free. If not, buh bye. I just gained $300 for a year of service.
I did the same Crystal, Cancelled Hulu after there rates just kept going up, Looks like they will be losing more than they anticipated.. I miss old Disney…These CEO’s are tarnishing the name Disney so bad. I’m just glad Walt isn’t alive to see what’s being done to his beloved Disney by GREED!
This is just so sad I’ve been a subscriber since the very beginning when Disney+ became a streaming service and I loved watching Disney movies and shows. This isn’t fair for us Disney lovers. Please don’t do to us.
I AM ASHAMED OF DISNEY FOR EVER STARTING WITH THE CABLE COMPANIES. PAYING FOR THE ABITY TO WAYCJ DISNEY SHOWS IS AWEFUL. FAMILIES HAVE ALWAYS WATCHED DISNEY MOVIES SND SHOWS WITHOUT PAYING FOR THEM. DISNEY IS FOR KIDS. PEOPLE WITH KIDS USUALLY DON’T HAVE LOTS OF MONEY. SO LETS MAKE THEM PAY TO WATCH TV. NOT SMART DISNEY. YOU WONDER WHY DISNEY CAN’T HOLD IT’S OWN AS A STREAMING SERVICE??? HMMM.
You have always had to pay in one way or another. Why is everything always about the kids? Can’t adults enjoy the content too? Plus, having wider range of content is surely a good thing.
I hope Disney will keep the plus with Hulu, I am 64 disabled vet, who watches a lot of TV, and soccer, I have Hulu live. Disney, Max, Peacock, parmont plus, Netflix, Brit Box Mhz. As you can see I watch a variety of shows, plus I have Vudu with about 800 movies I have purchased. Please think of something, I do not go to movies anymore.
How will we watch Bluey?!?!?! This particular show has been a great comfort to me children and family.
I can’t afford even higher subscription prices.
I am confused and frustrated.
Nothing is changing. The only difference is that Disney will offer an integrated app that combines Hulu and Disney Plus for those that want one. The stand-alone apps will still be available for those that prefer to use them.
Disney Plus has over 150 million subscribers and is not going away.
Canada already has this, really. Hulu isn’t available here and Disney already found a workaround for that by calling it “Star” where we get all the Hulu offerings and Disney in one app. The only thing we don’t get currently is ESPN.
I imagine for Canadians, we won’t even notice a change.
well don’t look for ESPN to add much. i have belonged to the bundle for over a year. in this bundle they only offer minor college games and no pro sports or even any interesting sports. just minor colleges.
We have the same thing in Australia already. We don’t have Hulu available so Disney created Star which is entirely adult programming. It’s really not a big deal.
Same as out here in Japan. STAR is already included in the Disney + app. I actually like it. They should have a profile set like Netflix where a kid profile can’t access adult shows and it’ll be fine. Just curious as to the rate change for the bundle.
That’s not true, maybe you talk about yourself, I had Hulu for years and iam living in Canada and all my friends and my neighbors having so many American streaming services
We enjoy Disney+ a lot. We hate to see it taken off. I am on disability and raising the price would be hard. I left Comcast because it was to expensive. Now you want to raise the prices too. I don’t watch any movies and I don’t need my niece to come upon a bad show.
Disney+ was nothing but trouble for me. It would always cut out during a program, they did not continue with the next season of a show you got invested in, and would shut down to often.
That’s the problem we have sometimes had with Hulu, freezing up, cutting out, audio not matching the video, but those problems were resolved. I don’t like the idea of paying extra, much less having ESPN included in the bundle. Streaming is getting too expensive.
If Disney is cutting out during one of your programs, that sounds more like a Wi-Fi issue. As far as not continuing a show after its first season, what programming are you referring to? All the new shows on Disney+ (Marvel, and Star Wars and any new Disney programming) let you know ahead of time, if a show is going to have more than one season. All of the classic Disney shows are just reruns that have been added to its platform.
So now the kids suffer because of big Business. Disney was for the kids. The child in all of us. You might as well shut down All of the theme parks too..
great my ass! capitalism my ass too america hasnt been.true capitalism for a long time we are a coorperatist society. capitalism is supposed to be about equal postive for all not greed oppression and classism. we anandoned proper capitalism long ago
This is very sad to hear! I do not want ESPN. I should not have to pay for a higher subscription cost for sports as an addition to a bundle. Maybe give your consumers the option to have a lesser cost without ESPN? I enjoy Hulu and Disney alone!!! I’d be upset to pay for a service I do not use. Also a 16+ profile and under 16 profile option may be efficient.
What kids are suffering? That’s what parental controls are for, so parents can choose what their children see. I can’t expect the company to sell a service they’re losing money on, so I support efforts to offer this great content in a way where everyone wins.
Theme parks closed? I wish! That’s a pure blood sucker for all parents that suffer so much financially, but still struggle to get their little ones at least once in their lifetime into the park. Very sad how this company exploits the situation and apparently doesn’t do much changes within the park, but increase the ticket price periodically without fail.
They’re working on that w the terrible rsvp system, insane increased $$$, and failed lightning lane. I went from first timer to member to final nail in the coffin miserable visit in 4 short yrs. It’s just not worth it anymore.
Mo Money, Mo Money, Mo Money, “how much discretionary income do you think the American public has”?
I once had Paramount + and dropped it when they wanted to force Showtime in w/ it! So you see I wouldn’t do it, I would drop you!
I have another idea, why not charge people according to how much money they make then discount it for the less fortunate, the government does it all the time, being sarcastic here!
Maybe you need to do more downsizing, as it appears you may be too top heavy. I also believe that your Woke agenda has not served you well!
Plus when you diversified into areas such as ESPN and Sports betting that they appear to conflict w/ your past image, one you appeared to have damaged!
I understand diversification, but not the way you are going about it, you may want to sell these off and stay in your lane and not push your burden onto your customers!
I think Disney lost its way long ago and not producing anything original in years, just take old concepts and “renew” them with far left crap to the point I canceled my Disney subscription and no longer take my kids to any of the parks. until Disney returns to normal values we grew up on me and anyone I knew is avoiding them …
Far left crap? Including princesses of all ethnicities? Showing girls that they can take care of themselves if they choose to, instead of helplessly waiting for a big strong man to rescue them? Forging their own identity instead of waiting for that big strong man to bestow one on them? Sounds like you feel threatened. Stay away from Disney, they’re doing just fine.
No one objects to the message that girls have value or can take care of themselves, btw. Just to the dismantling of existing IP to something designed to carry that message at the expense of the original.
Their stock price plummeting says otherwise there, Debby. Lowest levels in 5 years, down 27% in that time and down over 100% from its high in 2021. . Yikes. Keep spewing nonsense though in favor of wokeness.
Nothing is going “bye-bye”. The only change is that Disney will offer an integrated app combining Disney Plus and Hulu for those that want one. You will still be able to use the stand-alone apps if you want.
Disney is no where near fine they’re bleeding money, so people are staying far away from Disney as a whole. Maybe if they created new content instead of turning established content for “Modern Audiences” this wouldn’t be an issue at all.
Somehow I doubt the subjects you selected are what they were referring to as “far left crap” when Disney offers is so many better subjects that fit the category.
I like the reductionist crap you’re making it out to be when it goes much deeper than that. Yeah “strong diverse women” are okay to portray but when it comes at the expense of all the men around them then it’s no good. It’s like a strong male leader of good character is “toxic” now. Young boys don’t look up to strong women no matter how much you wish they would. The polar shift has just made it awful and completely unbelievable. And no, women can’t do everything a man can. And a lot of women would rather see strong male heroes in shows/movies than snarky unbelievable girl bosses. When society collapses or disaster strikes, women don’t go running to the strongest woman around them to save them, they run to the nearest capable man and that’s just biology. Unfortunately we seem to be brainwashing boys that being a strong leader is a bad thing. “Toxic Masculinity”… there has to be a balance, and hopefully these failing movies/shows will help tip it back to some level of normal.
Wow it sounds like you are threatened by the classic telling of a Fairy Tale and that is what it is a Fairy Tale it’s not supposed to be real life always that is what made the Magic of Disney magical. And if Disney was doing so well why is this even happening that they have to shut down their solo streaming service and buy out a company in Hulu who 10 years ago nobody really knew anything about and made themselves quite successful but getting strangled so to speak by the bigger companies with 50+ years worth of money behind them to buy them completely out and possibly run Hulu into the ground from a streaming point of view because they already have shown they did with Disney+ if they do in fact close that stream only service.
What “big strong man” saves them all? They save themselves by hard work, being smart and kind. Sleeping Beauty is the only one who really got saved by the prince. In the Little Mermaid, Ariel saves prince Eric first so they are even. In SW, the Dwarfs chase the witch away and she falls down a cliff, prince just wakes SW. Mulan saves a whole country, she joined the military risking her life, to protect her father. Not all women have to be the “girl boss” type to be strong. Sounds like you have never actually seen or payed any attention to any of the classic movies if you think the OG princesses were weak. A lot of people like you nowadays don’t understand subtlety. There’s nothing wrong with them falling in love or being feminine either, it doesn’t make them weak.
But now we just get the same girl boss “adorkable” copy paste princess since Rapunzel, boring. Give us a princess who works with her flaws to overcome situations and aren’t afraid to be feminine.
So, you won’t watch anything Disney until it’s back to “straight, white, and Christian” gotcha. Or maybe it’s the values of the 60s and 70s you want? I can see that. Maybe we do need more shows about naked hippies tripping on LSD while dancing naked in fields. hmm. Sounds good. /s
Interestinly, these comments never fail to realize that repblican pro-buisness “values” is that drives these decisions. Bottom line is profit profit profit, line MUST go up. Disney+ has all the classics bommers love to fellate so much anyways, what’s the deal with not watching those?
I think the Google TV app was supposed to consolidate all your streaming services, but it has serious issues, and you can’t add Netflix to it. Also, you can’t cast Netflix to the new Chromecast devices.
My benq projector with builtin android does it. It keeps track of all my streaming services and which shows I watch on each one. It displays icon when latest episode is out. It works great! Disney produces 4 new shows a year if we are lucky. Not sure it was worth the $80 and now they raise the price so I am canceling. Too many great shows on Amazon, apple+, Netflix.
Being a Disney oldie, I was enjoying old content being brought to Disney+. Shows like Lizzie McGuire, Even Steven’s, That So Raven, Kim Possible was worth watching. As far as movies go, some movies go, the content was worth the price. I do thoroughly agree that a genre poll should be done, but also add for kids that movies have a “parental advisory,” warning on their accounts. Instead of getting with the times, Disney should focus more on creativity more.
I already have the Disney Plus Premium bundle with Hulu and ESPN no ads. Combining them will just centralize all the content of those 2 apps. However, why would I pay more just for that when I pay for them separately. Price increase would make no sense for me at all.
I guess people will have to see if it’s worth the new beta streaming app. Hopefully the new app will have a more diverse catalog of genres.only time will tell. And if sucks than they can expect myself and others to cancel our subscriptions.
Might as well boycott the entire US and leave the country. The US government has contributed to Israel’s military since 1950. Far more than Disney itself.
Mark, Over 70% of the Israeli deaths on October 7th were sadly due to Israel’s own rockets and guns. 11,000 plus Palstinians killed and counting in Gaza. Was 10/7 Israel’s 9/11? They got duped just like we did in America.
No. I HATE paying for espn. No one in my family watches it and it is a huge waste. I would consider canceling Disney+ altogether if the price of espn goes up.
I just spoke to their customer rep yesterday who helped me get the Duo Premium Bundle – no ESPN. It was 19.99 monthly for both Hulu(no ads) and Disney plus (no ads). Call them. The guy was easy going about it- it took about 40 min to get everything worked around -canceling subscriptions and getting supervisor permission but it works out better for me. Good luck
I have the same subscription and I just found out they have a bundle of only disney and hulu for like $5 less which I changed it to cuz I never used ESPN lol! I believe it’s 20 without commercials and 15 w commercials
Iger is way past his prime. He leveraged the Disney reputation and inventory of product of which he had ZERO responsibility for and gouged consumers until they couldn’t afford it anymore. Then Iger had his hand picked successor go full stop woke.
Iger needs to GO. He is way past his prime. LEAVE. Then maybe a new team can go hback to Walt’s winning combination of wholesome healthy content and family friendly pricing
Disney currently shows a wholesome healthy loving every family dynamic, going back to a narrow minded one type of family dynamic is not good for anyone. Good job Disney for showing the true make up of the different types of American families.
There’s no one these days who would go back to family friendly content. They might make people upset that want to groom children. You’ll have to find a different app all together.
I agree, a new ceo is the way to go. Let Netflix buy disney+ so he doesn’t have to worry about it. They just do so many things that don’t work and make money. Then raise prices and we have to pay for it.
I sent this idea to Disney months ago to merge Hulu as the primary and align Disney+ As a Banner, this was submitted via X, glad to see being inplemented.
yeah i heard they are working back on resurrecting steve jobs just so he can go and read your comment history too. heck maybe you will the noble peace prize while your at it.
We have a subscription for Disney +, and we just received an email today saying the subscription price is going up $60 in December. Probably due to the merge.
I never recieved an email for a price increase. It was recently raised to $14 per month, and its definitely not getting raised to $60. I think you had SPAM
Those of us that had the original annual $79 subscription received notice it was renewing at $149. This was a significant increase so I also changed to monthly so I could cancel if programming lagged. Definitely not the original programming that we enjoyed as all the shows we liked as a family were cancelled. I just cancelled Hulu since it doubled in price after all the multiple price increases.
This is not awesome! Technology is already making our kids growing up too fast. They need a streaming service that can just be for kids and they can feel safe there.
The trouble is that people aren’t willing to pay to support the service. Everyone wants something for free, so the business has to do what it must do to keep income.
I think by doing this he not going to make it more appealing for consumers . Sports people who don’t care much for other officers to watch are only going to want to pay for Espn .
I don’t want kids having access to the non-Disney/Marvel content. I don’t even let them watch the Star Wars and Marvel content yet because they are too young. So if I can’t isolate the Disney from the Hulu and ESPN content , my family and I will forgo the new service entirely.
There will be parental controls, don’t worry! People aren’t willing to pay for the Disney-only service. But you’ll be able to select what your children can access, which is great!
No I like Disney as Disney with Disney shows to show my child, there’s already shows on there sometimes that I don’t think so be there, I love Disney for Disney, I want to be able to watch a Disney movie or show x, or I’ll break out the dvds
I pay annually for Disney+ because it is a good price. I love the content that is on Disney like the older movies from when I was a kid. If the new service of Hulu and Disney has an annual subscription then I might consider it. I like annual over monthly because it is a better deal.
I have been trying since Disney+ launched to get the company to bundle my membership with that of Hulu. For whatever reason, both companies refuse to bundle. I have been told I have to cancel both subscriptions and go back to creating a new account in order to get bundle pricing.
As frustrating as that struggle has been, we are huge Star Wars and Marvel fans, and my husband loves hockey, so
I’ll likely get the everything bundle and add ESPN. With the death of traditional cable, unreliable satellite dish connections and really not many other options I am going to check through my cell phone carrier and see what their offerings are. Many of my friends get the bundle free from their cell phone company so I’ll have to do some research into that option.
Oh, Dont get me started on Hockey. I live in the local Seattle market, and being new to Hockey with our Kracken, we cant even watch them locally because they are on ESPN+. I can watch the Canadian channel when the Kracken play sometimes. Its totally bull
The streaming model/approach from the very beginning seemed like a bad idea in terms of corporate investment. This news may be “the canary in the coal mine for all streaming services.
Absolutely will NOT purchase subscription if it merges. We love Disney Plus. It has everything a child can watch and parents too. I seriously doubt that people will pay for all of it together . People have it hard enough now days..Go ahead and change and CEO Bob will then realize he will be loosing alot of money. People will CANCEL
We are struggling enough to limit what our children can watch yet they are making far to many offerings to children to be able to see not to mention gambling also I never knew it starts at a young age no wonder it is harder to get out of the habbit..
Very upset about this I have Disney+ in my home not for just me and my husband but my 2 grandchildren also. They are only 2 and 3 years old and love all the mickey shows. My grandson loves the spidey and friends cartoon. Tried Hulu and hated it and as for ESPN don’t want it. The only sports we watch is hockey and Nascar.
I have HULU with ESPN and Disney.
As a senior, I do not care for Disney.
Recently, dropped Disney, to reduce bill.
But I found I could not get local news .
Had to renew everything to get local News,
Nashville market. HULU WAS NOT HELPFUL!
Now I pay for what I do not want!!
So then don’t, get it cut out as all they care about is getting the money so they don’t know that you are not happy with what you are purchasing so cancel and get what you want on to watch or you could be that one per cent that makes them think customer’s are happy with what they have hun.
Go outside and touch some grass. Interact with real people and deveop your own opinions. After so many years of dummies saying “woke”, anyone using it now just looks like a troglodyte.
I am extremely disappointed in the new direction. It will be a clusterf#ck, just like the new max app. Waaaay to much content. And now, just like the old cable companies, I’m forced to take channels that I don’t want and will never watch. I’ll be forced to pay for content I don’t want or cancel the service. I would love a service where I could pick the 10 or 12 channels that I want and pay….this reminds me of the old phone companies that needed to break up….too big…too slow….too old school
Shutting down Disney plus is a terrible idea. How are teachers supposed to find guaranteed family and kid friendly programs for the classroom through the classic streaming applications out there?
I love Disney, but it’s getting frustrating to see a company prioritize political stance and the money over what the actual fans want. Obviously Disney is sacrificing it’s own employees and cutting jobs to solely increase its profit because poor management.
Disney has been around for a long time I enjoyed it as a kid and my daughter enjoys it so why take it away it’s been a part of culture for years and now a days there isn’t very much kid friendly stuff out there so why take it away I and my daughter would be greatly disappointed
It is sad to see Disney+ go away. Unfortunately I am not surprised. With my combined subscription I have only used Disney a few times, using Hulu the majority of the time. I hope a new integrated app will be a good buy.
TBH Disney plus offered little I’ve got it purely to watch some of the new series which haven’t matched their initial offerings. I own physical copies of 90% of thier library of past films that i would want for my kids so no point in a streaming service for them.
When they do combine the apps, it’s not going to entice me to sub. I subbed to Hulu after Netflix raised their prices. Now that now that this merger is being made ill either go back to Netflix or I’ll just buy the DVD box sets of the shows I was watching on Hulu.
Hulu, Disney+, ESPN+ package already went up this past month, better not go up again! For this they should cut the annoying commercials that go on forever! I had commercial free, got the bundle & now commercials! If you add live MLB baseball it won’t be so bad!
Multiple streaming services have added to the monthly budget for the Entertainment envelope. It will depend on what is offered and if there are profile options to limit access to the adult contents to prevent young children from being traumatized by that content.
“deliberately family-friendly” and yet there is so much content that isn’t family friendly on Disney+ now.
I don’t see this disrupting my streaming experience, as long as the “kids account” continues to be a thing to hide all the “adult” content (as it already does).
I only want Disney+ as there is nothing on the other networks that I would watch. I pay too much for streaming and cable as it is. I guess I will have to give up my Disney* which I love.
i’m tired of the upselling so many shows only with 1 season i have spotify with hulu bundle so i wonder how this will impact it i got disney+ with no ads and the ads on hulu go on for ages
Nothing is changing for anyone. The only difference is that Disney Plus will now offer an app that combines Hulu and Disney Plus. However the stand-alone apps will still be available for those that prefer it that way.
Will Disney stop producing original k-dramas if they drop Disney+? Hit shows like Moving and The Worst of Evil were released on Disney+ world-wide and on Hulu in America. They are Disney original productions? Will they allow other streaming services to license these shows, or will we never be able to watch them again? I have to be able to rewatch Ji Chang Wook in The Worst of Evil, so I’d better do that soon. I was enjoying having another option for a place to watch k-drama.
Walt Disney. Remember him? Mickey Mouse and Cinderella. It’s all ruined now. These are real life villains. Kids don’t have a chance to beL a child anymore. It’s over everyone, however, I will still fight the Good fight for our children. God help us.
that’s interesting considering that I just received an email stating that my Disney+ subscription will go up in price to $139 a years STARTING in December.
I’ll meet your meaningless BS platitude with “Go fasc, lose cash” You people are a laugh riot. You don’t know what woke means and you just look silly. Poor triggered white people. It’s sad.
Tried a streaming channel and it was just a pain. They can keep it. I already pay for cable and its a fortune but works. Let customers pay only for the channels they want. Break the cable monopoly and problem solved.
I cancelled my Hulu 2 days ago and I am not going to get this Hulu Disney or whatever it is I don’t like to see banch of kids stuff alongside of my tv shows
All these companies trying to sell streaming to cater for anti monopoly laws ect ect but all that happens is each service charges a fortune and their content is rubbish.
We were better off when then were only 1 or 2 streaming services. Yet again the laws that are supposed to be consumer friend in reality work against the consumer.
I just always wanted Hulu and Disney+ for one price. I don’t care about ESPN because we don’t use that anyway. So, yeah. I am fine with it because in my case, my boys are older.
Disney has been great, Hulu on the other hand, well that’s a different story. Tho I can get it to work on my phone with no problem, we can’t manage to have it run on our tv’s more than a few times. Uninstalled it many times, same issue. So I guess it’s good bye to Disney if it merges into one app.
I just cancelled. I had a yearly service with no ads for the Grandkids. My credit card was just charged today for the yearly subscription and I didn’t even receive a notification to change to the ad version or go monthly. I now have to wait another year as you can’t cancel or change once your card is charged. Doesn’t seem right to me.
I’m so upset of this happens. I go to Disney for certain movies and shows and also the original Disney movies I grew up with. I have a great bundle deal for both services and not sure I would keep them if the price goes up…
Seriously?! Why are some people making everything about politics?! Enough with that crap and focus on the issue! This is a business move and nothing more. We only watch for hockey and I will watch hulu occasionally. Disney has the newly released movies which is why I will watch it only for that. But they will do what they want. It’s not my company or money going into any deals. If we choose to still pay for this after December that is choice everyone has to make for themselves. But why bicker and bring nonsense into this?! Everyone on here is an adult so act like one and make the best choices for you and your family.
I think this is a bad idea. There will be way too much content that is obviously not kid friendly for them to have access to. Why should parents have to micro manage everything kids watch. Plus it’s so easy to find anything Disney being it’s on its own platform. Disney is a Billions $$$$ company. I can’t imagine Disney plus is going to bankrupt over Disney plus. Find another way otherwise you will lose a lot of subscribers
It’s very devastating to know that disney + is going to disappear and combining with Hulu and the fact that doctor who (as I heard) is joining the streaming service. So what’s going to happen now? Completely B.S.!!!!!!!!
These moves always seem to diminish brands. An example, Showtime, now bundled with Paramount+ only, has lost its identity and is never top-of-mind when looking for something to watch. Of course, HBO being a part of Max is another example. These brands are being marginalized.
i currently have the bundle with hulu and espn. the espn channel is terrible. no major sports teams or colleges playing. only minor local colleges and NO major sports or sports teams. So don’t join if looking for sports unless you are wanting to watch your local community college play.
Why can’t Disney leave things the way they are. There’s show’s on Disney+ I love to watch and rewatch. And I get Hulu through my old Sprint account before T-Mobile bought them out now I’ll lose that.
Open up the entire Disney archive, not just selected content. I’d pay more for that access, and I’d use the service much more. Disney is its own wonderful universe, so expand it to the entire archive!
Disney doubled the annual price from $70.00 USD to $140.00. It certainly isn’t worth the price increase. I cancelled the service and have no plans to ever renew.
Amazing, all this to avoid the main issue…the content is pretty terrible. The shows that did pull in subs are either over or have been ruined with bad writing. They spent 25 million per episode for She-Hulk. No wonder the are loosing money like crazy. Imagin the great shows that could be created with a fraction of the budget while focusing on good writing and quality characters.
I have no use for Hulu and have never used ESPN. Don’t want them, don’t need them. If Disney forces them on me and raises the prices, I’m out of Disney’s realm for good.
Streaming will only get more expensive as the cost of providing quality content increases.
Cable is largely junk with ads and is dwindling to nothing.
Whiners will have to pay more or have lower cost platforms that are stuffed with ads.
I am very disappointed in this decision and choice I don’t think it’s a good idea I think Disney should stay put where they are right now I am watching shows on both apps already and I would not be very happy at all
I cancelled Disney+ because of the billing and package combo hassles. I could ONLY pay with PayPal and their solution was to blame it on my bank(s). I tried literally every credit/debit card I own. So this represents multiple banks and associations (ie. Visa, MC, Discover, etc). They opened a ticket but told me the support team doesn’t follow up with customers on their findings. What? Really? I then tried to adjust my package, but the offering I wanted was not in the options. I was told the only way to get what I wanted would be to cancel and sign up again for the new package. What a way to run a circus. I just cancelled and told them no thanks. I don’t need the hassle. I’m sure I’m not the only one. It wasn’t my bank, it was Disney’s Mickey Mouse billing and subscription interface.
Here we go again! They just raised my bundle price to $19 from $14. Now it’s going up again. Have they heard of inflation? It’s the big shareholders who aren’t happy with a million a year they want two and don’t pay their fair of taxes. And for the idiots, there no such thing as woke!! Your the ones that should go to another country since you like authoritarians.
Not going to renew when the platform changes. Ads are more frequent and longer, price is getting too high, content stutters and drops when transitioning from content to commercials, content doesn’t load sometimes (probably not enough bandwidth) and Iger is really getting too greedy. One person should not be the only arbiter of a diverse platform like this. I love the content, but it’s not going to translate into loyalty at any cost. And DeSantis should back off from trying to control Disney.
If he was smart he would lower the cost, I will pay for the subscription service that offers me the most for less money, and right now Netflix is cheaper even though I hate the service…. Not a lot of options… In this economy everyone but the rich is struggling so corners are cut where ever possible.
Disney is controlled, and always has been by a bunch of greedy money grabbing fat cats. I’m glad they’re losing millions but it won’t take them long to get it back again. Watch for price increases everywhere.
This is terrible news. I love my Disney +. So much good family content. What will happen to shows that are only on Disney +. Will we be able to see them somewhere else? Angry that we will loss one of the only streaming channels that I don’t mind my kids watching.
I don’t want Disney at all nor ESPN. Currently have Hulu and am concerned I’ll be forced to ditch it if I have to take the others and a price increase to pay for unwanted content. Bummer.
This is devastating news! I am 67 years old and I absolutely love disney. I have all my life. Movies are my only entertainment in life now. If Disney goes away that will probably send me into a depression
how many streaming services do we need? everybody is trying to squeeze the money out of average folks even sports such as tennis and baseball have their own channel to make money. I refuse to subscribe to those and when I have no idea who is playing, not knowing the players, lose interest. I am not the only one as you read the news the fan base of a lot of sports is declining for the same reason. it is self-destruction by the big greedy CEO’s decision.
How much more sad and pathetic can it get that these corporate money harlots really think that one would actually want to spend more to get less and actually own nothing. They seriously need to remove the dollar signs from their eyes and look at this money grabbing stupidity with clear eyes and good contious.
Will there be a package that just includes Hulu? We got rid of Disney+ a while back because nobody in our household watched it any more. Our kids have all grown and left the nest. We don’t need or want it. Will we have to pay for the whole thing? Or switch back to Netflix?
As always, companies love to price up their products even though you are trying to save money. Worst than all those cable companies of the past if you ask me.
Yeah I already have the Disney/Hulu bundle because y’know, realistically, why would you not? It’s an excellent deal anyway. THAT is the thing they better not change. The bundle price. Again.
Not a big fan of this idea. Disney+ has already jumped annual prices from 80 to 110 to now 140 within the same year. What’s it going to jump to when this happens.
If they remove the option for kids to safely go in and watch appropriate shows or take away the large option I may have just go back to only buying movies.
HBO Max has a horrible selection of kid friendly options and they have to go through adult movies/shows first. Netflix has a large selection but few are watch worthy. My kids watch like a handful of what they offer and it usually is the same things over, Disney Plus at least connects them to the new and classic movies and shows. If that changes.. what’s the point anymore.
As a parent of young children, this stuns me. I do not allow the 5yr old on Hulu and at least with Disney+ I can feel assured what she watches while I’m not home is decent. Can you teach my husband how to properly supervise? No, well then please stop breaking systems that work for the families that pay for them.
For sure, I often forget I have Hulu as part of my package because it’s horrendously frustrating to watch. Then there’s the the constant barrage of the same commercial repeated at ten times the volume of the show or movie that’s playing.
Unbelievable I can’t Imagine all the children that grew up watching Disney shows and now their children have a chance to share the same experience. Why… are they shutting down?…
I got Disney plus for Disney Junior and Marvel. Now they’re taking it away and adding a bunch of stuff I don’t want and jacking up the price. No one in my house watches sports I don’t want to pay for a bunch of stuff I’m not going to use. It sucks that they are doing this but I guess I won’t have Disney.
This is such a terrible decision. The I my reason we allow Disney+ to be watched in our house hold is only because of the kid friendly content only. There is zero access for our children for other content. There also will not be and just more money to be lost by Disney in this move. You think you would realize this after recent movie flops to add varied content. This will only make it worse for you Disney. Why Arne t you just charging more for new releases content or something? Don’t you still make as much money as when streaming wasn’t around and you got paid from cable companies if not more now because of both? Is this greed or just pushing worldly content.
No thank you. Will also not visit the parks if this is the direction Disney seems to be moving. Disney is for kids come on!
The price increase only for a bundle of 3 different streaming platforms is quite crazy and adds to the inflation. Many people are boycotting Disney and this is proof that boycotting works as Disney+ is shutting down.
Disney has been a large part of many children’s childhood. The channel had already shut down and now it is being merged with platforms that have shows quite mature to be showing to children. The additional costs is also crazy.
Nope. Glad to hear you’re loosing Disney. Walt would turn in his grave knowing what you’ve done to his dream. Go woke, go broke. Don’t need or want you around my kids.
I’ll keep using it I watch all my games on ESPN and another thing is I watch Hulu and Disney+ more than Netflix but I’ll keep Max because that way I can watch discovery, ID and the travel channel plus A&E
Leave it alone jerk not everyone can afford what you are planning and a lot of grew up on these shows and the kids enjoy watching it so back off and leave Disney alone
Corrie De Mott
It’s been expected Disney has gone so far off track of Mr Walts dreams and vision they are killing it I grew up with the original and saddened of the changes in the past 25 years I refuse to take the grand or great grandkids to any of their theme parks
Not sure how much longer Disney is going to offer ESPN+? Last I heard, Disney is trying to sell ESPN. May not be a bug deal to those who are not interested in sports programming but for those that are, it very well is.
RN I only stream Disney/Hulu. If the current service gets bungled, I will just give up on streaming movies altogether. That’s what Hollywood wants, right? Just buy their movies. On various different formats.
I actually think it’s a good idea but I would like to see a version of Disney+ with ESPN and HULU but make it require an adult to access it properly and make it require an email from an adult
Lmao just another way to tell ppl how its better so pay more, i can live with the (inconvenience) of everything being on seperate apps rather than paying another 10 dollars a month on tope of what it currently is 17.99 for espn+disney+ and hulu…. If its gonna go up in price then naw im good with how it is currently
Won’t be renewing my subscription I don’t watch Hulu or ESPN so if I have to have these extra services and pay more money forget it just not worth it to me.
I canceled Disney+ a long time ago because of throttling (buffering) issues whenever I tried to watch anything. I’m concerned now because I absolutely LOVE Hulu and I really don’t want Disney to screw that up like they seem to be doing with everything they touch nowadays. I really hope I don’t have to find another new streaming service 🥺😭
If they completely shut down Hulu and Disney+ to make it more live TV or ESPN+ I will quickly cancel my subscription. If I wanted to watch more sports I would have subscribed to ESPN already.
This is just recreating cable television except you can pick what to watch when you want to and you can look at it on your phone and computer. All these companies merging into the one bundle so you pay more every if you don’t want Hulu you’ll be forced to have it if you want to watch your mediocre super hero movies. We are watching the new revert back to the old and it’s disappointing to see
Maybe if they let the people living in the caribbean stream these platforms they would make more money instead of having it restricted for the small islands and/or stop blocking the good content people are paying to see everything disney+ has to offer but yet it depends on where you live. Bogus
this would be a real devastating issue for me as a low fixed income subscriber i couldn’t afford a higher price i joined with the disney hulu bundle cause I can’t afford streaming services otherwise. im grandfathered in now with my agreement and i expect my agereed upon payment upheld as thats part of terms i joined based on
Disney needs to get out of streaming and stick to their core – content. People are not going to pay every provider just to get acces to a specific set of content. Charge all providers equally for your content and you will survive nicely. The market is already correcting itself on this. The government may also step in and correct the error of content owners using their power and price fixing to also be content providers – see the Paramount decision of 1948 which has some similarities today to the latest disney and spectrum dispute.
I’d be okay paying more than I’m currently paying for Dusney Plus or Hulu, but only as long as the combind cost is still less then paying for both of them separately.
The should leave it I have the bundle Disney plus and Hulu and I pay a lot for it this is so sad to here why would we want to buy something that he wants us to
Disney+ is already expensive. If it was cheaper they might have more subscribers and make more money through bigger customer base. I’m considering cancelling at my next renewal as the cost has gone up quite a bit.
Well in short of it not a bad thing. It’s the same thing to have with Max and Warner Brothers as long as they keep the adult or the junior’s profile from Disney Plus which is already a kid’s profile that simplified and safe. No access to MCU Star wars or any other stuff besides in the US. We need the pen in order to access adult content from Fox from the fox manager because we don’t have stars.
I find this shocking news unfair. Disney Plus is now become a big part of our lives! Bob needs to fix this by raising money or having humans sign a petition!
I hate this so much. I have both subscriptions to Hulu and Disney. I like being able to get stuff done and know my son is watching appropriate shows on disney rather what he can be clicking on in hulu
Disney was once a place for family friendly and appropriate content. I’m a Disney child from the 60s. So much has changed chasing the precious dollar. I don’t know if that’s good or bad. We’ll probably have to drop the new service due to increased costs. We can’t even afford to take our 2 grandkids to a Disney park. It’s a shame. I wonder what Walt would think or do…
Sounds like they are figuring out the same thing the cable and satellite company’s found out. You bundle all the channels together on 1 platform and charge accordingly. The only difference will be that you can’t ffw through ads.
I hope for the kids sake they will also upgrade the parental controls allowing the profile to be set to g ratings or just pg ratings since everything will be blended
I dropped ESPN +.
I now only have Disney + and Hulu.
I have it for my grandchildren.
What a disappointment..
I’ve had Disney + since they first came out for streaming.
You can merge, but will lose some of your customers.
More so if prices increases
Purchase Hulu, bundle, and what?, eventually shut down 3 streaming services. Greed is the reasoning behind lost revenue. Raising prices to bundle will backfire.
Before you know all the facts, don’t fire people who obviously did not deserve it. For example, Johnny Depp. He made millions of dollars and millions of fans for Disney. Karma bites. Need to make things right
Do not like this at all. The reason we have disney plus is so I dint have to worry about what my kids are clicking on and watching. One is a 3 year old. I love Disney as a family friendly environment. I don’t care what other adults want. This is suppose to be for families.
Very disappointed! If we wanted a HULU subscription then we would have it already. You’re supposedly ‘losing money” but going to buy out another company?? 🤔 Seems just like another scheme to bump prices.
I have Disney Plus so I don’t have to worry about my kids having access to things that aren’t appropriate for them. I will probably cancel once this goes into effect.
Disney Plus is my favorite being a Christian woman. Now your taking it off this isn’t right I even have it on my phone because I can’t afford cable. Please make available on our phones. I’m low income and can’t afford those bigger prices think of the little people to
This will either work out insanely well or Disney may well tank beyond what it’s dedicated fan base and feelings of nostalgia can recover from. Of course, Iger is going to be retiring again; just as soon as he thinks there is someone capable of running a slowly sinking ship.
In all honesty I am shocked. I love Disney plus and to hear they are shutting it down is crazy. I don’t wanna know the new prices fir the new bundle and I honestly hope they know later on that doing this will likely make them bankrupt. And if they keep the Florida branch they may as well close it and demolish it to save money as the original is in California if I remember right..
I will be canceling my subscription as I had Disney + since it had parent controls and the movies and programs were family friendly. It looks like Disney continues to move away from family friendly entertainment.
This is one of those things that’s hard to understand, but may be a good call for Disney when looking at the wider picture. From my perspective as a Disney fan, surrounded by Disney fans, our Disney+ subscription was by far the most indispensable, especially when you add in all the new Star Wars content. They could certainly have increased the price more without issue.
But I can see how for folks with no kids and who aren’t fans, it would seem to narrow of a service. So maybe this makes sense? I hope they’re at least saving infrastructure costs by combining the two. It’s a bit sad to lose the lovely, clean, Disney+ app though. I really liked having the focused app personally.
I don’t want and have never wanted a bundle that includes ESPN+. Unfortunately, the only way to get the ad-free versions of Hulu and Disney+ has been to accept ESPN+in the bundle. This makes me feel like I’m forced to pay for something I’m not using. Guess this will continue under the new plan.
I think a main reason Disney+ isn’t as good as Netflix is because of the constant buffering. It takes a while to load anything and while searching it doesn’t remember where you were and brings you back to the beginning everytime. It annoys me so much I find I go back to Netflix often.
And don’t take it away until after Christmas at least. That would just be unacceptable.
Well i already pay for Hulu and Disney separately because i dont care about espn+. I don’t think this is a good idea. I pay yearly for Disney+ and pay rhe Hulu live price monthly. What will the price be
If Disney wants to keep customers they need to really improve the Hulu app… it is the worst one that I use! Hulu has no quick rewind capability, no ability to start movies again at the beginning, too many commercials and generally below par compared to streaming apps!
I’m against a bundle app for the following reasons:
1. Both Disney+ and Hulu have some serious user interface issues (endless scrolling, terrible categories, lagging, not recognizing casting devices, booting users off the platform, servers going down, listing unavailable content – this last one is a Hulu problem), and a bundle app will surely inherit those issues.
2. Neither app has parental control options, meaning there is no way to restrict access to mature content. It sounds like Disney has no intention of adding that to a new app. Ideally, parents should monitor what their kids watch, but a lot of kids have their own smart phones; so a “kids only” profile option should be added.
3. I’m sure the new app will cost more. I do not use ESPN, but streaming companies keep pushing sports as a means to charge more for basic services.
4. I’m concerned about screen limits. I use Disney+ at work, while my husband watches Hulu at home. If they bundle it together, is it going to kick one of us off when we both try to stream different movies at the same time? It’s already too expensive to add additional screens to Hulu (you have to upgrade to the Live TV bundle).
5. It sounds like Disney is already aware of people’s concerns, and they don’t care. I understand that they don’t want to lose money on a venture, but plowing ahead with no regard to consumer’s needs is rude.
So I have Disney+, ESPN+(which I don’t use) an Hulu I use Hulu mainly so I can watch my cooking shows an Disney + for older classics like Darby o’gill an the little people. I’m neither here nor there on it as it’s paid in my cellphone bill with Verizon currently I will be having a discussion with them on it. however I wish they the complete catalog on Disney.
I will cancel Disney+ if it requires a combo subscription with Hulu. I cancelled Hulu because we did not watch ANYTHING! I will not be forced to pay for something I don’t need. Bad idea Disney.
Yeah maybe always raising the price isn’t the smart thing to do because why would I pay for a service that doesn’t have much original content and pay an anrm and leg for it?
Why, Bob are you doing this, that’s my only Disney go-to programing, now I will not have any, makes me sad, and not think of nothing more than Disney. Please don’t do it.
Just saying, if streaming ends up just like cable, I won’t be partaking. I will be watching but not through their service. I won’t be forced to pay for something like ESPN or Fox News just so you can more easily “upsell” me because its ” all included in the same easy price” . If the price doesn’t decrease/if it increases because of this, I will be canceling. Sorry not Sorry.
This devastating for me to find out. My non-verbal autistic 4yo is accustomed to the disney+ app an Mickey Mouse Club House is a life staple for her. No one thinks about the individual repercussions that they inflict when making these choices. This will affect our literal everyday life and cause a ton of grief for her even if it’s just in adjusting.
I have all three and honestly it’s not worth the cost. Even as standalone apps. If they don’t lower the price I think a lot of people are going to cancel. Netflix just has more personization capabilities and that goes a long way.
Disney did so good over the last decade avoiding anything to bottom them out iger is flailing trying to save his company from tanking. He has only himself and every woke member of his team to blame for the failure of disney+. I love disney or at least I did. It has become something it never had to be. Now you want to charge more and take Hulu down with you. Good luck I’ll stick to Netflix hopefully they can add more on there.
I guess this is ok, if you’re loosing money. Can you put what’s in the Disney plus app in the hulu app seeing you’re gonna purchase Hulu but have parental controls for all the other movies.
Sad they are combining I don’t watch sport so don’t need espn I do like both Hulu and Disney plus Hulu for classic tv shoes you can’t get on Netflix and Disney plus for Star Wars
This model works fine in the UK and other markets. What’s the difference? Put on parental lock and then when the kids go to bed enjoy something on your own profile. It’s a win win!
That’s totally sucks. I have small children who don’t even have interest in “adult content” let alone a need for it. At least we will still continue to have access to the Disney collection. Although it kinda feels as if they are taking a cop out. Disney SHOULD have its own app. ITS DISNEY FOR CRYING OUT LOUD…
It’s all a bunch of crap as Hulu raised their prices as well as Disney, when is enough for you Freddy giants to realize we sre living in a world that is constantly raising prices that not many can afford. Stop will all this nickel and dime stuff.
Absolutely excited about this change. I use both services now, and it will make it so much easier to keep track of my watchlist, my preferences, etc, once they’re combined.
Wow! I’ve been a Disney fan since 1965. I raised my family on Disney and now my grandchildren and great-grandchildren watch Disney. I don’t understand why you are doing this? It seems that since Bob has returned nothing has gone right for Disney. I’m disappointed. I’m hurt by this.
I find it repulsive that again Richie rich milks the common working parents do they can line they litter box with gold flakes. Stop robbing is streaming services already require you to obtain a 3rd Job (rent and groceries) first two.
We already subscribe to the “bundle” and rarely watch ESPN. As a matter of fact, with no new Star Wars or Marvel content, we probably watch Hulu the most. If the price increases any more though, we probably won’t be a subscriber of any of their services any longer…
Adult content is already available on Disney plus and has been. The idea that their CEO is making a big deal about adult content will be available on the new app is very telling of his and Disney’s options of their subscribers intelligence level.
Simply put Disney+ is failing for the same reason Disney is failing. Drum rollllllll, they are putting Disney political and social agendas ahead of quality content. They lack even decent writing, actors, and directors. They have changed cannon of decades old story lines for the sake of filling their self imposed demographic quotas and the fan base is tired of low entertainment quality.
If we wanted Hulu or ESPN we would already have it. Guess we will finish Loki and be done with Disney completely.
Very disappointed! We have remained loyal to Disney & it’s the subscription I currently have because it’s family friendly content. I refuse to purchase other Streaming services because it’s difficult to keep my kids from Watching inappropriate content!
This is a terrible decision your gonna put hulu on Disney+ and not put all the rated R or pg 13 shows or movies which will ruin hulu. People watch certain streaming apps just for what’s on that particular one and your gonna takenit away. Such a shame will not buy if this happens.
I will be very sad to see it change. I love that I can go on Disney+ and simply know everything is appropriate and good to watch. It is refreshing in this world full of chaos.
My Disney+ renews itself in the middle of December for the whole year! Are they going to honor that payment or am I out of luck? Should I cancel my subscription in a couple of weeks?
Disney+ outside the US has always had adult content and everyone has survived just fine; it’s only because Hulu already existed in the US (and nowhere else) that there was a kiddie-friendly version of D+.
NO! we do NOT want to see this happening. As it is Disney, etc has a ceo, cfo, and many others who are more worried about increasing their golden coin as opposed to the MILLIONS of children and adults around world who loved what Walt Disney and his team created and dreamed of. Shame on them. Sometimes there are things more important than $$$$$.
I’m not too thrilled about the change that Disney is thinking of making on Disney+. I don’t watch ESPN and I don’t have Hulu. I noticed that my Disney+ went up five dollars a month (total of $60 a year).
I don’t think I would want to pay more money for something I don’t watch. This may convince me to cancel my subscription to Disney+.
The way Disney has been going, I really don’t care if they lose everything! The changes they’ve made and the things they stand for now is heartbreaking. I for one will not miss it and will NOT pay extra for the hulu/ESPN/Disney merge.
So instead of Disney creating non Woke good content, they’ll push bundles? Disney, Bob, you’ve learned NOTHING. It’s not the delivery of content that’s the problem. It’s the content itself. Long gone are the days of original storytelling. Movies like The Goonies, Ghostbusters, ET, etc….everything today us rehashed into Woke Agendas. It doesn’t work! Go Woke Go Broke!
Very upsetting to hear that this is what it comes down to. I renew my subscription for a year simply because I’m a kid at heart. I don’t look at new series that are on the Disney+ app. I watch all the older original animations and the new ones that come out. I’m not a marvel fan. However, my family enjoys the marvel genre. I don’t care for Hulu and there streaming applications. I don’t agree with how their customer service approaches their customers. I refuse to have anything to do with Hulu with everything they have done to me in the past. Disney+ has been part of my expenses for almost 10 years. If this is where it is going then they will be losing my expectation and business. That is not something I thought I would ever say.
No, I would not like to bundle. I just signed up for Disney+ to give my granddaughter options to watch her favorite and new Disney movies. I am already a Prime and Netflix member and would not see a benefit of signing up for a Hulu Disney bundle. I
We live in Canada and can not get hulu. What does this mean for us.
If we can’t get it that would be cutting your money profits. The whole country will not be able to get it, meaning no money from here.
So in other words he is basically forcing people to go back to Hulu that canceled it last month when they raised it another, what $2 or $3 again from 8 months ago? No thank you I will just let Disney go like I did Hulu when they raised it last month and the same with Netflix. At this point I can add cable to my internet for $20 and get 125 channels. Sorry Iger you are not going to force me to go back to Hulu and get even more money from me when you raise the price yet again with your new “beta” version.
Ok by me. I already have them all anyway. Disney is my go-to streamer, so putting them all in one place is just a couple key strokes different. Parental controls are my responsibility.
If they merge they should create a child version for children tablets where they can have there family friendly or some sort of lock feature.
As for the raised prices everything else takes our money. You should keep it add free and lower than netflix and you will get everyone to flock over to your program.
Offer a special for cyber Monday that will roll over into the BETA to get the interests to stay.
Offer a college and low income discount like other streaming services do. Granted it’s only a year or few months but it help build clients. Get them attached than give them the choice to stay or go
Just like the rush for electric cars, which are great actually, but, to just change business models on a whim, then learn, there are great challenges with change…makes more challenges.
I do not want that ESPN in a package I do not watch sports nor do I want to watch sports. Nor do I want to pay for sports. Just because ESPN is losing money don’t make me pay for it as a bundle
Never been a subscriber to Disney+ or ESPN so doesn’t matter to me as I keep my streaming subscriptions tightly budgeted thus ANY increase is gonna wind up hitting the cancel button to keep TV entertainment within budget. I currently subscribe to Prime, CuriousityStream, Discover+ and that’s it. I placed Discover+ on recent notice as they just increased their pricing by over 20% thus I will not tolerate another increase there for several years. All news is obtained via browser as I can select content. News nowadays is heavily biased these people can’t keep their opinions to themselves and weather is hyped as well.
Damn.. I was hoping Disney was going to cancel Disney plus and hopefully one day go bankrupt….. Disney refuse to accept so many of their problems is they have gone extreme woke, I make sure I support nothing from Disney and recently Sony sense Sony is has gone aggressively woke also.
Comments for UPDATE: Disney CEO Reveals Disney+ as We Know It Will Shut Down in December, Tells Parents to “Prepare”
Joan Emerson
I am devastated by this news. We love Disney+ and can’t imagine streaming services without it. I suppose that means I should not renew my subscription when it comes up in a week or so?
Delilah
It’s not going away. It’s just changing to mesh the different services into one.
Price levels will probably change, but you’ll still get Disney.
It’s just saying to prepare for kids to also have access to non-family friendly programming as well.
Aaronosauruses
As if there is no non-family friendly programming on Disney+ by itself.
Connie Carroll
If that’s all, then it’s fine with me.
Jeff
I cancelled my Disney+ a while ago. If they jack up my Hulu price, goodbye.
Jet
Whether subscribers want it or not, the service they’re used to will be going away soon, and Iger can only hope they’ll be satisfied with what he wants them to buy instead.
I’m not buying it!
Anon
The reason I stream is to get away from ad service crap that takes up 25 minutes of every hour of content on TV. Plus crappy cable TV models are why streaming started. I don’t watch a million things only a few. Now we’re going backward. We’re going to have content we never wanted shove in our faces plus ads again for an outrageous cable package prices because stock holders have to make a dividend every year. Boooo Disney. Booooo
Pickle
Actually, it’s been working wonders in other countries that offer both Hulu and Disney as a whole. In Canada it’s called star instead of Hulu with three options with basic ad tier being the lowest from only $13 a month with 3-4 ads that last 30 seconds each so it’s not as bad as most people think it’ll be. Still not a fan of Disney but they seemed to knock it out of the park with their streaming game
Teri
Right, but the issue is, I only have Disney+ for my grandbaby, and do not use, need, nor want the other stuff! So for me it’s a flat-out cost increase, likely a significant one, for ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! NOT happy.
Jennifer
I agree, the same for me. I only have Disney+ for the grandbaby and will not need the other stuff. I already have Prime and Netflix. Well I just signed up. I will not be renewing. Nor will I want to pay more to access.
Sue
Same here, If the price goes up, I’m done. So tired of these corporations gouging us! I will not be renewing either if it goes up.
Nicole Colletti
The change is for people who purchase it at a bundle that’s all
Arnold
Yes i would pay more to keep Disney plus the way it is
Riley
Hi so are they asking us to be prepared to cancel the app or just be prepared that there would be more stuff that kids couldn’t watch like the Simpsons persay
YoMama
HappySquid
I honestly believe there will be age based accounts within the new app. It more of a friendly update to families they might have review the settings and create an age based account if they hadn’t already done that in Disney+
Riley
Hi so are you saying that it’s not cancelling app that it is just wanting to add more stuff to it that is not made for kids
Ashley
I buy Disney for the fact that it is Disney and Disney alone. Sure, I also pay for the bundle but I would prefer it to all be separate. There is definitely stuff I don’t want me 8 year old to have access to. I don’t think this is the right call for Disney and they may actually loose subscribers
Dayday
Can I piiyb again ?
JC Castro
I will
Not pay more for what I don’t want. There are so many streaming venues to choose from that cost less and still have great quality. Why pay more when I don’t have too.
Terry
Yes we changed to monthly so we can cancel easily. Don’t want to be locked in to a whole year.
GT40
Lasted longer than CNN+
Nathan
We already pay for all 3 of those now (hulu, disney+, ESPN+). Is this going to increase my monthly cost, or just be nicer for me having them all under 1 app?
Jet
It’s going to ruin your life completely’ your Done! lmao
Kathryn
I don’t understand why they wouldn’t just make parental controls on this new version??? You know it’s going to be an issue, fix the problem before the launch…
Ayrton Carson
The new app will offer parental controls.
Bob
If it costs more than I pay now for both hulu and disney+, I will be done. I only have the disney+ because it is super cheap @ under $4 for no ads.
Brian Scott
I love Hulu & ESPN+ together with Disney on the side. Putting it all in one app and raising the price will force some to choose lower cost options.
Shanna
I am unhappy. I happen to love Disney+. By itself. Oh well. One more thing for the children to be disappointed about. ;(
Janet S.
Unfortunately people complained about the current service and weren’t willing to pay for the luxury of having only Disney programming. This seems like the best way to stop have access to the content, while allowing the service to be offered.
Elrina
Our family love Disney+. I already have Hulu. If you add them together what will cost be? HIGHER!
Chris
So Disney is yet again trying to corner another market by exploiting their programming to hardworking Americans through their children. Classic Disney, they aren’t even any good anymore, not like they were back in the good ol days.
Maria
Honestly, I feel as though more people would have disney + if there was a way to personalize the home page with genres of interest to the individual family. A questionnaire when setting up your profile when you sign up. We personally enjoyed many of the classics and not the newer shows, and young adult cartoons.
Gina
If i wanted hulu/espn i would of subscribed to them. Guess Disney will be loosing a customer
Jet
Exactly…
Ayrton Carson
You will still be able to subscribe to just Disney Plus and access it using a stand-alone app. The integrated app is just an option.
B
I won’t be staying on and enabling greedy Iger and Disney anymore. We don’t NEED Disney. I’m not risking my kids seeing things that they shouldn’t. I’m the keeper of my family. I have spoken.
Modulok
This is the way.
Kathleen Goodwin
I agree. I DO NOT want gay content shown on my home Disney+ page. We should be able to set up our home page to personalize it. We ONLY watch the classic Disney movies that were wholesome like Walt Disney intended. We also enjoy the Star Wars movies!
Dayday
You like the 🍆
KC
If I wanted Hulu, I’d subscribe to Hulu. We won’t be keeping our subscription to Disney + especially if the cost goes up. TV programming is not that important.
Crystal
Bad idea. I can’t even imagine the price increase. I already canceled hulu because they kept raising the prices. And definitely won’t go back. I hope they are prepared to loose more money.
Travis
As opposed to being prepared to tight more money?
Sora
Unfortunately it seems like a lot of things have a price increase. Wonder if the price increase compares to what they have. Hopefully I worded it right.
Jet
No it doesn’t compare that’s why i left and the fact they just had to start the advertising crap.
Netflix will be raising prices next month and i may bee leaving them as well.
There is a small chance i might stay with flix because they do have much more content even though a lot of isn’t all that good but if you search good enough you’ll probably find something.
Sid Nightwalker
Never heard of the bundle huh? Pssh, be quiet.
Joe
Bummer. I just wanted another season of “Andor”.
Ayrton Carson
New season of Andor will premiere in August. You can still use your stand-alone app to access Disney Plus and won’t be forced to subscribe to Hulu or ESPN if you don’t want to.
mike
agreed ill have to leave even though i love it as i live onna very poor fixed income and I sinply don’t have more money to give them at all.
Anonymous Turtle
I don’t watch Hulu now and I get it for free. Never had Disney + either
Alyssa
This is unfortunate. My family watches Disney plus a lot because it has something for everyone. I like knowing my family is watching something age appropriate on Disney plus
Joe
Exactly I already dropped Hulu and I don’t see me reacting well to being forced to resub we’ll just drop it instead.
Vw
I’ll just cancel it
I’m not paying for anything I don’t want or need.
Dayday
L00se it girl !!!
April
I just canceled my subscription because of the price increase. I have Hulu as well. I guess I’ll see what the price goes too. We use Hulu much more than we did Disney plus.
Brandi
Because of price inflation, Netflix is about to loose a lot of customers too. If I have to pay almost $25 a month for a service, I need to have access to other apps + 2 premium apps for free. If not, buh bye. I just gained $300 for a year of service.
Sue
I did the same Crystal, Cancelled Hulu after there rates just kept going up, Looks like they will be losing more than they anticipated.. I miss old Disney…These CEO’s are tarnishing the name Disney so bad. I’m just glad Walt isn’t alive to see what’s being done to his beloved Disney by GREED!
Buhdowen
Its saying theyre putting rated r content you may not want your children to see.
Stephanie
I am so sad to hear this news as I love Disney + and so does my family. It was the first streaming service I chose over all of the others
Melissa
This is just so sad I’ve been a subscriber since the very beginning when Disney+ became a streaming service and I loved watching Disney movies and shows. This isn’t fair for us Disney lovers. Please don’t do to us.
DONNA
HMMM.
Sid Nightwalker
Uhhhhh huh. I’d love to know where you can watch Disney stuff without paying for it. Once a week on ABC?
Anonymous Turtle
It’s a shame you don’t already know the answer to this question
Owen
You have always had to pay in one way or another. Why is everything always about the kids? Can’t adults enjoy the content too? Plus, having wider range of content is surely a good thing.
David M Collins
I hope Disney will keep the plus with Hulu, I am 64 disabled vet, who watches a lot of TV, and soccer, I have Hulu live. Disney, Max, Peacock, parmont plus, Netflix, Brit Box Mhz. As you can see I watch a variety of shows, plus I have Vudu with about 800 movies I have purchased. Please think of something, I do not go to movies anymore.
Lori
How will we watch Bluey?!?!?! This particular show has been a great comfort to me children and family.
I can’t afford even higher subscription prices.
I am confused and frustrated.
Owen
Why not? It will still exist… 🤷
Charles
Go woke go broke !
William
They’re just simply adding more by adding hulu and ESPN+ to one bundle that will have stuff some parent don’t want their kids to see.
Ayrton Carson
Nothing is changing. The only difference is that Disney will offer an integrated app that combines Hulu and Disney Plus for those that want one. The stand-alone apps will still be available for those that prefer to use them.
Disney Plus has over 150 million subscribers and is not going away.
Woke
You probably give hormone blockers to your family too. Ewe, you are a Disney fan?
Anything incriminating in your pc?
Jessica
I’m unsure
Delilah
Canada already has this, really. Hulu isn’t available here and Disney already found a workaround for that by calling it “Star” where we get all the Hulu offerings and Disney in one app. The only thing we don’t get currently is ESPN.
I imagine for Canadians, we won’t even notice a change.
Joyce
I already pay for Disney + and Hulu. I hope they put a password or pin like prime does so we adults see what we want to and the kids can’t.
Eve
Thought Disney+ already had parental lock?
Buhdowen
Go to settings
Dad
Kids are already able to see a trans kid make out with a same sex boy in the newest Goosebumps. What more are you worried about?
Rob
well don’t look for ESPN to add much. i have belonged to the bundle for over a year. in this bundle they only offer minor college games and no pro sports or even any interesting sports. just minor colleges.
Eve
Yes, same here in Australia, all the Hulu shows are under “Star” on the Disney+.
J
Same in Australia. Seems like no change for us either. Except probably increases, because why not.
Ashlie
We have the same thing in Australia already. We don’t have Hulu available so Disney created Star which is entirely adult programming. It’s really not a big deal.
Mike-chan
Same as out here in Japan. STAR is already included in the Disney + app. I actually like it. They should have a profile set like Netflix where a kid profile can’t access adult shows and it’ll be fine. Just curious as to the rate change for the bundle.
Chris
Disney doesn’t get it. Disney+ failed because of the poor quality of original Disney+ shows and the failing movies they had in the boxoffice.
Until Disney understands that people do not want to watch bad remakes and political propaganda, they will continue to lose.
reza ilA
That’s not true, maybe you talk about yourself, I had Hulu for years and iam living in Canada and all my friends and my neighbors having so many American streaming services
Natalie
My thoughts too! The US version is so limited when we traveled recently and found out. If it’s like what we have in Canada, this will be much better!
Callum Precious
I would want every Disney bundle exclusive to BBC IPlayer for the UK
Mary
We enjoy Disney+ a lot. We hate to see it taken off. I am on disability and raising the price would be hard. I left Comcast because it was to expensive. Now you want to raise the prices too. I don’t watch any movies and I don’t need my niece to come upon a bad show.
Darren
If their price raises, I’m canceling. It’s bad enough you pay and still have commercials.
Celeste Cline
Disney+ was nothing but trouble for me. It would always cut out during a program, they did not continue with the next season of a show you got invested in, and would shut down to often.
Kathy
That’s the problem we have sometimes had with Hulu, freezing up, cutting out, audio not matching the video, but those problems were resolved. I don’t like the idea of paying extra, much less having ESPN included in the bundle. Streaming is getting too expensive.
Jennifer
If Disney is cutting out during one of your programs, that sounds more like a Wi-Fi issue. As far as not continuing a show after its first season, what programming are you referring to? All the new shows on Disney+ (Marvel, and Star Wars and any new Disney programming) let you know ahead of time, if a show is going to have more than one season. All of the classic Disney shows are just reruns that have been added to its platform.
Glenn
I really don’t like this, cause I don’t care anything about Hulu. I just want Disney and the Marvel movies. But we’ll see
Bandy
So now the kids suffer because of big Business. Disney was for the kids. The child in all of us. You might as well shut down All of the theme parks too..
Terry
Yes we changed to monthly so we can cancel easily. Don’t want to be locked in to a whole year. Yes Disney and especially Iger is all about the money!
Janet S.
That’s the great thing about our country! We were founded on capitalism and industry, businesses like this will Make America Great Again!
A friend
I’m not sure I get what you’re saying. Are you saying it’s great that Disney is driven by greed instead of being driven by caring about its audience?
mike
great my ass! capitalism my ass too america hasnt been.true capitalism for a long time we are a coorperatist society. capitalism is supposed to be about equal postive for all not greed oppression and classism. we anandoned proper capitalism long ago
Christina
This is very sad to hear! I do not want ESPN. I should not have to pay for a higher subscription cost for sports as an addition to a bundle. Maybe give your consumers the option to have a lesser cost without ESPN? I enjoy Hulu and Disney alone!!! I’d be upset to pay for a service I do not use. Also a 16+ profile and under 16 profile option may be efficient.
Ayrton Carson
The stand-alone apps will still be available as will packages that don’t include Espn.
Skye
Do not shut down Disney+ please???!!!!🙏 What about the kids I mean like that’s just selfish
Dude
I just bootleg everything. So I’m good.
Michael Bergan
I don’t know how dísney is loosing money They raise the prices every few months for the ticket prices for the parks
Janet S.
What kids are suffering? That’s what parental controls are for, so parents can choose what their children see. I can’t expect the company to sell a service they’re losing money on, so I support efforts to offer this great content in a way where everyone wins.
Don’t worry, the kids will be all right!
Tom
Theme parks closed? I wish! That’s a pure blood sucker for all parents that suffer so much financially, but still struggle to get their little ones at least once in their lifetime into the park. Very sad how this company exploits the situation and apparently doesn’t do much changes within the park, but increase the ticket price periodically without fail.
Michael Bergan
Walt Disney will hate what they doing to his company
Sad
They’re working on that w the terrible rsvp system, insane increased $$$, and failed lightning lane. I went from first timer to member to final nail in the coffin miserable visit in 4 short yrs. It’s just not worth it anymore.
Mike
Do you even read? They are going to MERGE Disney + & HULU into ONE app. Not get rid of it.
Mark
You’re still going to have the same programs just adding another category. Good god you Americans are so dramatic.
Mark
Jip
I think Disney lost its way long ago and not producing anything original in years, just take old concepts and “renew” them with far left crap to the point I canceled my Disney subscription and no longer take my kids to any of the parks. until Disney returns to normal values we grew up on me and anyone I knew is avoiding them …
Christine
I agree.
Deb Moritz
Far left crap? Including princesses of all ethnicities? Showing girls that they can take care of themselves if they choose to, instead of helplessly waiting for a big strong man to rescue them? Forging their own identity instead of waiting for that big strong man to bestow one on them? Sounds like you feel threatened. Stay away from Disney, they’re doing just fine.
Francois
Their financials might beg to differ.
No one objects to the message that girls have value or can take care of themselves, btw. Just to the dismantling of existing IP to something designed to carry that message at the expense of the original.
RealOne
Their stock price plummeting says otherwise there, Debby. Lowest levels in 5 years, down 27% in that time and down over 100% from its high in 2021. . Yikes. Keep spewing nonsense though in favor of wokeness.
Travis
Man, you people are so scared. It’s pretty funny lol.
Mike
They’re doing fine Deb?? In case you didn’t read the article they’re going bye bye.
Ayrton Carson
Nothing is going “bye-bye”. The only change is that Disney will offer an integrated app combining Disney Plus and Hulu for those that want one. You will still be able to use the stand-alone apps if you want.
L neufeld
Disney is no where near fine they’re bleeding money, so people are staying far away from Disney as a whole. Maybe if they created new content instead of turning established content for “Modern Audiences” this wouldn’t be an issue at all.
Billy
Fine? Stock price tumbled during Covid and they have not had a money making blockbuster in years! That’s why Bob Iger was brought back.
phook oph
.
Lionel LaCorbiere
I concur! LOL!!!
Rachel
Right?! 😂 1950’s values, I guess? 🙄
James
Somehow I doubt the subjects you selected are what they were referring to as “far left crap” when Disney offers is so many better subjects that fit the category.
Setz
Maggie Gray
I’m unsure I don’t think this is a good idea
Derek
Raindance
Jim lance
Deb, you are the problem.
Gonzacci
I agree Disney took a turn for the worse and that will be there down fall someday.
Aaron
That’s great, please stay away from the parks, including the people that you know.
Shorter lines for the rest of us folks who don’t care about politics.
BenR
So, you won’t watch anything Disney until it’s back to “straight, white, and Christian” gotcha. Or maybe it’s the values of the 60s and 70s you want? I can see that. Maybe we do need more shows about naked hippies tripping on LSD while dancing naked in fields. hmm. Sounds good. /s
Annette
Ditto times 2,000!!!!!
Joknows
Then why are you here??
Joe
Interestinly, these comments never fail to realize that repblican pro-buisness “values” is that drives these decisions. Bottom line is profit profit profit, line MUST go up. Disney+ has all the classics bommers love to fellate so much anyways, what’s the deal with not watching those?
Peter
Yes, there are so many streamin services , can’t keep track. So 3-4 big ones with higher cost is better than 30 cheaper ones.
Glenn
I just hope the combined app is based more on the Disney+ app because the Hulu app is terrible.
Someone
I can’t believe a service doesn’t already exist that puts all your streaming services together in one spot you can access it all from.
GideonPK
They did. It was called “cable”.
Joknows
I was about to say the same thing!
BryceM
We had that. It was Netflix. Then everyone wanted to go it alone… and now they are all struggling.
Carolyn
That explains why my yearly subscription is going from $79.99 to $139.99! Time to switch to monthly service so I can cancel easier.
Someone else
Roku
Joe@TV
I basically have that on my Roku which is hooked up to my Ai capable TV
YoMama
I think the Google TV app was supposed to consolidate all your streaming services, but it has serious issues, and you can’t add Netflix to it. Also, you can’t cast Netflix to the new Chromecast devices.
Jacob
It does it’s called cable TV. All the major cable services including Comcast and Time Warner have a streaming app.
W Zander
It exists. It’s called AppleTV.
NoDisneyNoMore
My benq projector with builtin android does it. It keeps track of all my streaming services and which shows I watch on each one. It displays icon when latest episode is out. It works great! Disney produces 4 new shows a year if we are lucky. Not sure it was worth the $80 and now they raise the price so I am canceling. Too many great shows on Amazon, apple+, Netflix.
Theresa R
Keep Disney+ as a stand alone service.
Ashley B
Being a Disney oldie, I was enjoying old content being brought to Disney+. Shows like Lizzie McGuire, Even Steven’s, That So Raven, Kim Possible was worth watching. As far as movies go, some movies go, the content was worth the price. I do thoroughly agree that a genre poll should be done, but also add for kids that movies have a “parental advisory,” warning on their accounts. Instead of getting with the times, Disney should focus more on creativity more.
Mike
Keep sports out of my movie watching! Combine 4 major platforms and call it good. Way too many out there already!
Robert
I already have the Disney Plus Premium bundle with Hulu and ESPN no ads. Combining them will just centralize all the content of those 2 apps. However, why would I pay more just for that when I pay for them separately. Price increase would make no sense for me at all.
Annette
If they raise the price any higher they’re going to lose subscribers.
August moom
I guess people will have to see if it’s worth the new beta streaming app. Hopefully the new app will have a more diverse catalog of genres.only time will tell. And if sucks than they can expect myself and others to cancel our subscriptions.
Beans
I’m already boycotting Disney for their huge contribution to Israel now I’m going to have to lose Hulu??
Janet S.
Are you also boycotting Ron DeSantis for the same reason?
Jay
Might as well boycott the entire US and leave the country. The US government has contributed to Israel’s military since 1950. Far more than Disney itself.
Mark Huckabee
Mark, Over 70% of the Israeli deaths on October 7th were sadly due to Israel’s own rockets and guns. 11,000 plus Palstinians killed and counting in Gaza. Was 10/7 Israel’s 9/11? They got duped just like we did in America.
W Zander
They already owned part of Hulu.
Theresa
No. I HATE paying for espn. No one in my family watches it and it is a huge waste. I would consider canceling Disney+ altogether if the price of espn goes up.
Irene
I just spoke to their customer rep yesterday who helped me get the Duo Premium Bundle – no ESPN. It was 19.99 monthly for both Hulu(no ads) and Disney plus (no ads). Call them. The guy was easy going about it- it took about 40 min to get everything worked around -canceling subscriptions and getting supervisor permission but it works out better for me. Good luck
Viri
I have the same subscription and I just found out they have a bundle of only disney and hulu for like $5 less which I changed it to cuz I never used ESPN lol! I believe it’s 20 without commercials and 15 w commercials
Mark Generales
Iger is way past his prime. He leveraged the Disney reputation and inventory of product of which he had ZERO responsibility for and gouged consumers until they couldn’t afford it anymore. Then Iger had his hand picked successor go full stop woke.
Iger needs to GO. He is way past his prime. LEAVE. Then maybe a new team can go hback to Walt’s winning combination of wholesome healthy content and family friendly pricing
Theboz
Woke?
Tim
Disney currently shows a wholesome healthy loving every family dynamic, going back to a narrow minded one type of family dynamic is not good for anyone. Good job Disney for showing the true make up of the different types of American families.
Chelsea
agreed
Fhn
There’s no one these days who would go back to family friendly content. They might make people upset that want to groom children. You’ll have to find a different app all together.
Jen
That’s a good thing Eiger has already announced that he’s retiring in two years.
TC
I agree, a new ceo is the way to go. Let Netflix buy disney+ so he doesn’t have to worry about it. They just do so many things that don’t work and make money. Then raise prices and we have to pay for it.
John Hilla
I sent this idea to Disney months ago to merge Hulu as the primary and align Disney+ As a Banner, this was submitted via X, glad to see being inplemented.
doug
yeah i heard they are working back on resurrecting steve jobs just so he can go and read your comment history too. heck maybe you will the noble peace prize while your at it.
Stephanie
We have a subscription for Disney +, and we just received an email today saying the subscription price is going up $60 in December. Probably due to the merge.
Theboz
I never recieved an email for a price increase. It was recently raised to $14 per month, and its definitely not getting raised to $60. I think you had SPAM
Carolyn
The yearly subscription fee is definitely going up by $60. From 79.99 to $139.99.
Christine
She meant the total went up $60. I just saw my Disney+ renewed 10/27 for $150!
Nicole
Not spam, I received an email stating Disney was going up to $130 something starting in December. Currently it’s like $70 something
Heather
Those of us that had the original annual $79 subscription received notice it was renewing at $149. This was a significant increase so I also changed to monthly so I could cancel if programming lagged. Definitely not the original programming that we enjoyed as all the shows we liked as a family were cancelled. I just cancelled Hulu since it doubled in price after all the multiple price increases.
Luke
Just keep Disney plus on November and December I like to watch and it’s nothing wrong with shutting down it’s fine
Alicia W
This is not awesome! Technology is already making our kids growing up too fast. They need a streaming service that can just be for kids and they can feel safe there.
Janet S.
The trouble is that people aren’t willing to pay to support the service. Everyone wants something for free, so the business has to do what it must do to keep income.
Trevor brown
Depending how much
John
Just want to see coments
Dave
Same here.Would pay more depending how much more.
Anonymous
I think by doing this he not going to make it more appealing for consumers . Sports people who don’t care much for other officers to watch are only going to want to pay for Espn .
Anne
I already have the Hulu plus Disney+ and ESPN plus when I bundle Disney and Hulu. Well I’ve been losing this connection?
KFSE
I don’t want or care for any sports so if it’s going to be at all or nothing, I guess, it will be nothing
William Kimmey
Leave it as is you already messed up Disney’s pirates of the Caribbean movies
Alex Smith
I don’t want kids having access to the non-Disney/Marvel content. I don’t even let them watch the Star Wars and Marvel content yet because they are too young. So if I can’t isolate the Disney from the Hulu and ESPN content , my family and I will forgo the new service entirely.
Janet S.
There will be parental controls, don’t worry! People aren’t willing to pay for the Disney-only service. But you’ll be able to select what your children can access, which is great!
Becky
You know this for certain do ya coz kid’s are far more smarter than we think!!!!
Eve
Use the Patental lock. I heard Disney+ has it.
Jody
No I like Disney as Disney with Disney shows to show my child, there’s already shows on there sometimes that I don’t think so be there, I love Disney for Disney, I want to be able to watch a Disney movie or show x, or I’ll break out the dvds
lite
Disney: We ruined our own streaming service and increased the price so now we want to do the same to another service…
Ryan
I pay annually for Disney+ because it is a good price. I love the content that is on Disney like the older movies from when I was a kid. If the new service of Hulu and Disney has an annual subscription then I might consider it. I like annual over monthly because it is a better deal.
Laraine
Theboz
Oh, Dont get me started on Hockey. I live in the local Seattle market, and being new to Hockey with our Kracken, we cant even watch them locally because they are on ESPN+. I can watch the Canadian channel when the Kracken play sometimes. Its totally bull
JoAnn
Verizon includes the bundle for all 3 services
MG
Stop changing things around. My kids and I are satisfied the way it is!
GWP
The streaming model/approach from the very beginning seemed like a bad idea in terms of corporate investment. This news may be “the canary in the coal mine for all streaming services.
Angie
Absolutely will NOT purchase subscription if it merges. We love Disney Plus. It has everything a child can watch and parents too. I seriously doubt that people will pay for all of it together . People have it hard enough now days..Go ahead and change and CEO Bob will then realize he will be loosing alot of money. People will CANCEL
Becky
We are struggling enough to limit what our children can watch yet they are making far to many offerings to children to be able to see not to mention gambling also I never knew it starts at a young age no wonder it is harder to get out of the habbit..
Tracey
Very upset about this I have Disney+ in my home not for just me and my husband but my 2 grandchildren also. They are only 2 and 3 years old and love all the mickey shows. My grandson loves the spidey and friends cartoon. Tried Hulu and hated it and as for ESPN don’t want it. The only sports we watch is hockey and Nascar.
Joe
I think Disney should keep going with “woke” programming and creating new excuses for why they’re failing. It’s it’s own form of entertainment.
Theboz
What is Woke programming, it seems that only people on the right use that trrm and I really don’t get it, lol
Eaglemom55
I have HULU with ESPN and Disney.
As a senior, I do not care for Disney.
Recently, dropped Disney, to reduce bill.
But I found I could not get local news .
Had to renew everything to get local News,
Nashville market. HULU WAS NOT HELPFUL!
Now I pay for what I do not want!!
Travis
Roku has a free app with local Nashville News. News Channel 5.
Lol
Becky
So then don’t, get it cut out as all they care about is getting the money so they don’t know that you are not happy with what you are purchasing so cancel and get what you want on to watch or you could be that one per cent that makes them think customer’s are happy with what they have hun.
BenR
Don’t worry, the right doesn’t get it either. They use the word as a pejorative for everything that triggers them and they look silly doing it.
MN
Maybe Disney will get the hint they are too expensive for the garbage they’ve been spewing recently.
Janet S.
Woke? Another made up term to describe “things somebody told me I shouldn’t like.”
It’s okay, snowflakes get offended so easily when they see a person of color on their television.
BenR
The term is/was used by black folks. It’s mostly white rightwingers who have used it incorrectly.
Joe
Go outside and touch some grass. Interact with real people and deveop your own opinions. After so many years of dummies saying “woke”, anyone using it now just looks like a troglodyte.
Fwilli
I am extremely disappointed in the new direction. It will be a clusterf#ck, just like the new max app. Waaaay to much content. And now, just like the old cable companies, I’m forced to take channels that I don’t want and will never watch. I’ll be forced to pay for content I don’t want or cancel the service. I would love a service where I could pick the 10 or 12 channels that I want and pay….this reminds me of the old phone companies that needed to break up….too big…too slow….too old school
Theboz
If its going to cost a lot more then nope, im not interested in Hulu, never have and never will

Shutting down Disney plus is a terrible idea. How are teachers supposed to find guaranteed family and kid friendly programs for the classroom through the classic streaming applications out there?
Janet S.
That’s the great thing about parental controls!
However keep in mind that teachers are not supposed to be using Disney content anyway. Future President DeSantis has decreed it!
The Truth
Teachers are supposed to be actually teaching children, not sitting them in front of a tv. Also, they have these things called DVDs and Blue-Ray.
Fast Eddy
I love Disney, but it’s getting frustrating to see a company prioritize political stance and the money over what the actual fans want. Obviously Disney is sacrificing it’s own employees and cutting jobs to solely increase its profit because poor management.
Kisha Moore
Disney has been around for a long time I enjoyed it as a kid and my daughter enjoys it so why take it away it’s been a part of culture for years and now a days there isn’t very much kid friendly stuff out there so why take it away I and my daughter would be greatly disappointed
Janet S.
Don’t worry, it’s not being taken away. It’ll still be there, just with excellent parental controls!
Gary
Depends on what will be available.I currently have Disney+ and Hulu. I pay $11!
M. Adams
It is sad to see Disney+ go away. Unfortunately I am not surprised. With my combined subscription I have only used Disney a few times, using Hulu the majority of the time. I hope a new integrated app will be a good buy.
Preston
TBH Disney plus offered little I’ve got it purely to watch some of the new series which haven’t matched their initial offerings. I own physical copies of 90% of thier library of past films that i would want for my kids so no point in a streaming service for them.
Beast
The most important thing a parent can do for their child in reguards to tv is teach them that its only tv and not real.
Janet S.
Unfortunately there are lots of adults who don’t understand that as well.
Annette
Amen!
Michale, Edwards
You people
What a letdown
Andrew
When they do combine the apps, it’s not going to entice me to sub. I subbed to Hulu after Netflix raised their prices. Now that now that this merger is being made ill either go back to Netflix or I’ll just buy the DVD box sets of the shows I was watching on Hulu.
Diana
Hulu, Disney+, ESPN+ package already went up this past month, better not go up again! For this they should cut the annoying commercials that go on forever! I had commercial free, got the bundle & now commercials! If you add live MLB baseball it won’t be so bad!
Rachel
I did the exact same thing. Also, it seemed like Hulu had better content in general.
Danielle
As long as I can watch Doctor Who 60th anniversary specials I’m good with it 😬
Richard Schwalm
Multiple streaming services have added to the monthly budget for the Entertainment envelope. It will depend on what is offered and if there are profile options to limit access to the adult contents to prevent young children from being traumatized by that content.
Fundien
“deliberately family-friendly” and yet there is so much content that isn’t family friendly on Disney+ now.
I don’t see this disrupting my streaming experience, as long as the “kids account” continues to be a thing to hide all the “adult” content (as it already does).
Laura
I only want Disney+ as there is nothing on the other networks that I would watch. I pay too much for streaming and cable as it is. I guess I will have to give up my Disney* which I love.
kiddy
i’m tired of the upselling so many shows only with 1 season i have spotify with hulu bundle so i wonder how this will impact it i got disney+ with no ads and the ads on hulu go on for ages
LValiente
What about the peopleb that just renewed a yearly subscription?
Ayrton Carson
Nothing is changing for anyone. The only difference is that Disney Plus will now offer an app that combines Hulu and Disney Plus. However the stand-alone apps will still be available for those that prefer it that way.
Julie
Will Disney stop producing original k-dramas if they drop Disney+? Hit shows like Moving and The Worst of Evil were released on Disney+ world-wide and on Hulu in America. They are Disney original productions? Will they allow other streaming services to license these shows, or will we never be able to watch them again? I have to be able to rewatch Ji Chang Wook in The Worst of Evil, so I’d better do that soon. I was enjoying having another option for a place to watch k-drama.
Alex
They WILL control what you watch, no exceptions. Just like they want to control everything else in your life without you noticing that it’s happening.
Liz
Walt Disney. Remember him? Mickey Mouse and Cinderella. It’s all ruined now. These are real life villains. Kids don’t have a chance to beL a child anymore. It’s over everyone, however, I will still fight the Good fight for our children. God help us.
Anthony
that’s interesting considering that I just received an email stating that my Disney+ subscription will go up in price to $139 a years STARTING in December.
Phydeaux Briggands
Go woke, go broke.
BenR
I’ll meet your meaningless BS platitude with “Go fasc, lose cash” You people are a laugh riot. You don’t know what woke means and you just look silly. Poor triggered white people. It’s sad.
Pavel
Believe fake stories, reveal the lack of wrinkles in your brain.
sls642
Tried a streaming channel and it was just a pain. They can keep it. I already pay for cable and its a fortune but works. Let customers pay only for the channels they want. Break the cable monopoly and problem solved.
reza ilA
I cancelled my Hulu 2 days ago and I am not going to get this Hulu Disney or whatever it is I don’t like to see banch of kids stuff alongside of my tv shows
Trex
The age of piracy is back.
Kimberly Bentura
I just always wanted Hulu and Disney+ for one price. I don’t care about ESPN because we don’t use that anyway. So, yeah. I am fine with it because in my case, my boys are older.
Boo
Stop streaming. Go back 2 TV as it used 2 b.
Cwine
I’ve always had the Disney+ bundle. Just wondering how much I’ll have to pay.
Joe
Disney has been great, Hulu on the other hand, well that’s a different story. Tho I can get it to work on my phone with no problem, we can’t manage to have it run on our tv’s more than a few times. Uninstalled it many times, same issue. So I guess it’s good bye to Disney if it merges into one app.
D. Greer
I’ve already cancelled Hulu because of the price hike. Glad I’ve kept all my DVDs. I won’t be giving Disney any more of my money.
Mark
I just cancelled. I had a yearly service with no ads for the Grandkids. My credit card was just charged today for the yearly subscription and I didn’t even receive a notification to change to the ad version or go monthly. I now have to wait another year as you can’t cancel or change once your card is charged. Doesn’t seem right to me.
Sheri Fisher
I’m so upset of this happens. I go to Disney for certain movies and shows and also the original Disney movies I grew up with. I have a great bundle deal for both services and not sure I would keep them if the price goes up…
Amanda
Chris
Disney + should stay and not merge
Judy
I think this is a bad idea. There will be way too much content that is obviously not kid friendly for them to have access to. Why should parents have to micro manage everything kids watch. Plus it’s so easy to find anything Disney being it’s on its own platform. Disney is a Billions $$$$ company. I can’t imagine Disney plus is going to bankrupt over Disney plus. Find another way otherwise you will lose a lot of subscribers
Teresa
It’s very devastating to know that disney + is going to disappear and combining with Hulu and the fact that doctor who (as I heard) is joining the streaming service. So what’s going to happen now? Completely B.S.!!!!!!!!
Chad
How will Disney + Canada be impacted? Hulu is not available in Canada.
Kevin
These moves always seem to diminish brands. An example, Showtime, now bundled with Paramount+ only, has lost its identity and is never top-of-mind when looking for something to watch. Of course, HBO being a part of Max is another example. These brands are being marginalized.
Rob
i currently have the bundle with hulu and espn. the espn channel is terrible. no major sports teams or colleges playing. only minor local colleges and NO major sports or sports teams. So don’t join if looking for sports unless you are wanting to watch your local community college play.
Tammy
Why can’t Disney leave things the way they are. There’s show’s on Disney+ I love to watch and rewatch. And I get Hulu through my old Sprint account before T-Mobile bought them out now I’ll lose that.
Steven
Disney+ is great the way it is, even though they just raised the price. I’m not paying more for other services that I don’t want!
ELLISON HORNE
Open up the entire Disney archive, not just selected content. I’d pay more for that access, and I’d use the service much more. Disney is its own wonderful universe, so expand it to the entire archive!
JC
Disney hasn’t been family friendly for years.
Rick Clark
Disney doubled the annual price from $70.00 USD to $140.00. It certainly isn’t worth the price increase. I cancelled the service and have no plans to ever renew.
Peter
I dropped Disney+ after they raised prices the first time. Hulu & Disney ar higher prices? Why bother. I have Netflix and Prime Video
SJT
Amazing, all this to avoid the main issue…the content is pretty terrible. The shows that did pull in subs are either over or have been ruined with bad writing. They spent 25 million per episode for She-Hulk. No wonder the are loosing money like crazy. Imagin the great shows that could be created with a fraction of the budget while focusing on good writing and quality characters.
J Rogers
I have no use for Hulu and have never used ESPN. Don’t want them, don’t need them. If Disney forces them on me and raises the prices, I’m out of Disney’s realm for good.
Michael
I already dropped Disney+ a few months ago. This will not bring me back
Landis
Yeah, I’ll just cancel hulu.
Niveithika
I’ve sent a link to my brother, but he thinks it’s fake.
Mark
Streaming will only get more expensive as the cost of providing quality content increases.
Cable is largely junk with ads and is dwindling to nothing.
Whiners will have to pay more or have lower cost platforms that are stuffed with ads.
Silvia
Hopefully they’ll use profiles that can be set up for children’s programming only. Otherwise people will cancel.
Maggie Erickson
I am very disappointed in this decision and choice I don’t think it’s a good idea I think Disney should stay put where they are right now I am watching shows on both apps already and I would not be very happy at all
Shahn
What does this mean with the deal with the BBC to stream Doctor Who going forward?
Genny
Donna
I just canceled Hulu since Ido not watch any shoes, also it was getting very expensive. I will remain with Disney, since I enjoy watching the movies
Donna
I just canceled Hulu since I do not watch any shows, also it was getting expensive. I will remain with Disney since I love watches the movies
John
Here we go again! They just raised my bundle price to $19 from $14. Now it’s going up again. Have they heard of inflation? It’s the big shareholders who aren’t happy with a million a year they want two and don’t pay their fair of taxes. And for the idiots, there no such thing as woke!! Your the ones that should go to another country since you like authoritarians.
Sid Nightwalker
Who said it was going up? Yeah nobody, exactly. Good lord.
MN
Maybe Disney will get the hint they are too expensive for the garbage they’ve been spewing recently.
Sid Nightwalker
Yeah go watch more Yellowstone or something.
Jeff
Not going to renew when the platform changes. Ads are more frequent and longer, price is getting too high, content stutters and drops when transitioning from content to commercials, content doesn’t load sometimes (probably not enough bandwidth) and Iger is really getting too greedy. One person should not be the only arbiter of a diverse platform like this. I love the content, but it’s not going to translate into loyalty at any cost. And DeSantis should back off from trying to control Disney.
Teri
If he was smart he would lower the cost, I will pay for the subscription service that offers me the most for less money, and right now Netflix is cheaper even though I hate the service…. Not a lot of options… In this economy everyone but the rich is struggling so corners are cut where ever possible.
Sid Nightwalker
Uhhhhh nooooo, Netflix isn’t cheaper. Can you not do math?
Ignatz
Disney is controlled, and always has been by a bunch of greedy money grabbing fat cats. I’m glad they’re losing millions but it won’t take them long to get it back again. Watch for price increases everywhere.
Christopher Mugler
This is terrible news. I love my Disney +. So much good family content. What will happen to shows that are only on Disney +. Will we be able to see them somewhere else? Angry that we will loss one of the only streaming channels that I don’t mind my kids watching.
Sid Nightwalker
You will be able to watch them on the new service. Obviously.
Wade Lippman
I have had Hulu for a few years. If the add Disney into it and increase the price, I will drop it.
Wrather
Sounds perfect! More options under one subscription. Allow a passcode to leave kids mode and everything is golden.
Gi
I don’t want Disney at all nor ESPN. Currently have Hulu and am concerned I’ll be forced to ditch it if I have to take the others and a price increase to pay for unwanted content. Bummer.
Sid Nightwalker
You’re actually ripping yourself off if you don’t have the bundle, considering the minimal price difference. The dual bundle anyway. Buuuut whatever.
Brenda Mulligan
This is devastating news! I am 67 years old and I absolutely love disney. I have all my life. Movies are my only entertainment in life now. If Disney goes away that will probably send me into a depression
no to
how many streaming services do we need? everybody is trying to squeeze the money out of average folks even sports such as tennis and baseball have their own channel to make money. I refuse to subscribe to those and when I have no idea who is playing, not knowing the players, lose interest. I am not the only one as you read the news the fan base of a lot of sports is declining for the same reason. it is self-destruction by the big greedy CEO’s decision.
Alex
How much more sad and pathetic can it get that these corporate money harlots really think that one would actually want to spend more to get less and actually own nothing. They seriously need to remove the dollar signs from their eyes and look at this money grabbing stupidity with clear eyes and good contious.
Sid Nightwalker
Uhhhhh, how are you getting less genius? Quit knee jerk reacting just like the rest of you complainers.
A Rodgers
Will there be a package that just includes Hulu? We got rid of Disney+ a while back because nobody in our household watched it any more. Our kids have all grown and left the nest. We don’t need or want it. Will we have to pay for the whole thing? Or switch back to Netflix?
Nate
As always, companies love to price up their products even though you are trying to save money. Worst than all those cable companies of the past if you ask me.
Sid Nightwalker
Yeah I already have the Disney/Hulu bundle because y’know, realistically, why would you not? It’s an excellent deal anyway. THAT is the thing they better not change. The bundle price. Again.
Scottie
Raised the price to$25 for the bundle and we canceled the service. Not worth the money.
Sid Nightwalker
Uhhhhh, why did you not just get the duo version which is the same price? Who cares about ESPN+. Ahh well.
CFG
Sid Nightwalker
Kid mode is a thing that exists.
Tim
Back to acquiring things the old fashioned way…
YoMama
Lol. I was just thinking that too.
Venus
As a parent of young children, this stuns me. I do not allow the 5yr old on Hulu and at least with Disney+ I can feel assured what she watches while I’m not home is decent. Can you teach my husband how to properly supervise? No, well then please stop breaking systems that work for the families that pay for them.
john
Got woke, going broke 😂
James
Raise the price and I will have to drop the service
I’m disabled veteran on a fixed income
Nik
For sure, I often forget I have Hulu as part of my package because it’s horrendously frustrating to watch. Then there’s the the constant barrage of the same commercial repeated at ten times the volume of the show or movie that’s playing.
Matthew Ramsay
What will happen the county’s that don’t have hulu will we still be able to watch disney plus or we start to get hulu
Cgurr
Unbelievable I can’t Imagine all the children that grew up watching Disney shows and now their children have a chance to share the same experience. Why… are they shutting down?…
Victoria
I got Disney plus for Disney Junior and Marvel. Now they’re taking it away and adding a bunch of stuff I don’t want and jacking up the price. No one in my house watches sports I don’t want to pay for a bunch of stuff I’m not going to use. It sucks that they are doing this but I guess I won’t have Disney.
Jessica
Hayley
The price increase only for a bundle of 3 different streaming platforms is quite crazy and adds to the inflation. Many people are boycotting Disney and this is proof that boycotting works as Disney+ is shutting down.
Hayley
Disney has been a large part of many children’s childhood. The channel had already shut down and now it is being merged with platforms that have shows quite mature to be showing to children. The additional costs is also crazy.
John
Nope. Glad to hear you’re loosing Disney. Walt would turn in his grave knowing what you’ve done to his dream. Go woke, go broke. Don’t need or want you around my kids.
Melissa
I’ll keep using it I watch all my games on ESPN and another thing is I watch Hulu and Disney+ more than Netflix but I’ll keep Max because that way I can watch discovery, ID and the travel channel plus A&E
Corrie
Leave it alone jerk not everyone can afford what you are planning and a lot of grew up on these shows and the kids enjoy watching it so back off and leave Disney alone
Corrie De Mott
Rod
It’s been expected Disney has gone so far off track of Mr Walts dreams and vision they are killing it I grew up with the original and saddened of the changes in the past 25 years I refuse to take the grand or great grandkids to any of their theme parks
Michael
Not sure how much longer Disney is going to offer ESPN+? Last I heard, Disney is trying to sell ESPN. May not be a bug deal to those who are not interested in sports programming but for those that are, it very well is.
OneGuysOpinion
RN I only stream Disney/Hulu. If the current service gets bungled, I will just give up on streaming movies altogether. That’s what Hollywood wants, right? Just buy their movies. On various different formats.
Dustin
I actually think it’s a good idea but I would like to see a version of Disney+ with ESPN and HULU but make it require an adult to access it properly and make it require an email from an adult
Anton
Lmao just another way to tell ppl how its better so pay more, i can live with the (inconvenience) of everything being on seperate apps rather than paying another 10 dollars a month on tope of what it currently is 17.99 for espn+disney+ and hulu…. If its gonna go up in price then naw im good with how it is currently
James
Won’t be renewing my subscription I don’t watch Hulu or ESPN so if I have to have these extra services and pay more money forget it just not worth it to me.
Jet
I left Disney+ long ago because they jacked up the price and started advertising. And they never had enough content to be raising prices.
david
Classic case of Go woke, Go broke!
Another Disney classic!
Nicole
I canceled Disney+ a long time ago because of throttling (buffering) issues whenever I tried to watch anything. I’m concerned now because I absolutely LOVE Hulu and I really don’t want Disney to screw that up like they seem to be doing with everything they touch nowadays. I really hope I don’t have to find another new streaming service 🥺😭
Nick
Disney needs to grow a pair
Laura
If they completely shut down Hulu and Disney+ to make it more live TV or ESPN+ I will quickly cancel my subscription. If I wanted to watch more sports I would have subscribed to ESPN already.
Pk fire
This is just recreating cable television except you can pick what to watch when you want to and you can look at it on your phone and computer. All these companies merging into the one bundle so you pay more every if you don’t want Hulu you’ll be forced to have it if you want to watch your mediocre super hero movies. We are watching the new revert back to the old and it’s disappointing to see
Oshea
Maybe if they let the people living in the caribbean stream these platforms they would make more money instead of having it restricted for the small islands and/or stop blocking the good content people are paying to see everything disney+ has to offer but yet it depends on where you live. Bogus
Lori
I have the Disney+ , Hulu bundle, I hope I can still get all of the shows and movies on both
Sabrina
What does that mean for people who don’t have Hulu available to watch in there area or country like me as I live in Australia as I love Disney+
Jessie
So how does that effect those of us with a bundle plan through Verizon? Right now it’s a perk that costs extra to your plan.
mike
this would be a real devastating issue for me as a low fixed income subscriber i couldn’t afford a higher price i joined with the disney hulu bundle cause I can’t afford streaming services otherwise. im grandfathered in now with my agreement and i expect my agereed upon payment upheld as thats part of terms i joined based on
Brian
Disney needs to get out of streaming and stick to their core – content. People are not going to pay every provider just to get acces to a specific set of content. Charge all providers equally for your content and you will survive nicely. The market is already correcting itself on this. The government may also step in and correct the error of content owners using their power and price fixing to also be content providers – see the Paramount decision of 1948 which has some similarities today to the latest disney and spectrum dispute.
Chris Pelton
I’d be okay paying more than I’m currently paying for Dusney Plus or Hulu, but only as long as the combind cost is still less then paying for both of them separately.
Cinda may
The should leave it I have the bundle Disney plus and Hulu and I pay a lot for it this is so sad to here why would we want to buy something that he wants us to
Me
When we stop having the TVs phones and tablets be the babysitters to these children you won’t be bothered by this.
John
Disney+ is already expensive. If it was cheaper they might have more subscribers and make more money through bigger customer base. I’m considering cancelling at my next renewal as the cost has gone up quite a bit.
Penny
Well in short of it not a bad thing. It’s the same thing to have with Max and Warner Brothers as long as they keep the adult or the junior’s profile from Disney Plus which is already a kid’s profile that simplified and safe. No access to MCU Star wars or any other stuff besides in the US. We need the pen in order to access adult content from Fox from the fox manager because we don’t have stars.
Crystal
I find this shocking news unfair. Disney Plus is now become a big part of our lives! Bob needs to fix this by raising money or having humans sign a petition!
Brittany
I hate this so much. I have both subscriptions to Hulu and Disney. I like being able to get stuff done and know my son is watching appropriate shows on disney rather what he can be clicking on in hulu
Alicia
If this would finally make Hulu available worldwide, then it might be a good thing. Otherwise, its just another waste of money.
Joe
Disney was once a place for family friendly and appropriate content. I’m a Disney child from the 60s. So much has changed chasing the precious dollar. I don’t know if that’s good or bad. We’ll probably have to drop the new service due to increased costs. We can’t even afford to take our 2 grandkids to a Disney park. It’s a shame. I wonder what Walt would think or do…
Ashley
Well maybe if you didn’t jack the price every 6 month more people would be inclined to purchase you streaming service.
Yolanda Swanson
Disney is already being ridiculous as it is.. this is so stupid. The Almighty dollar is king in our once great country
Lina
Neither my husband nor I are sports people. We don’t want ESPN channels. We have no interest in paying more for those.
Jack frost
Sounds like they are figuring out the same thing the cable and satellite company’s found out. You bundle all the channels together on 1 platform and charge accordingly. The only difference will be that you can’t ffw through ads.
Phil
Go woke, go broke…
RT
Go woke, go broke.
Karmen
I hope for the kids sake they will also upgrade the parental controls allowing the profile to be set to g ratings or just pg ratings since everything will be blended
Carina
I dropped ESPN +.
I now only have Disney + and Hulu.
I have it for my grandchildren.
What a disappointment..
I’ve had Disney + since they first came out for streaming.
You can merge, but will lose some of your customers.
More so if prices increases
Rich gettin richer
Purchase Hulu, bundle, and what?, eventually shut down 3 streaming services. Greed is the reasoning behind lost revenue. Raising prices to bundle will backfire.
Abigail
Hopefully they will have a child profile option… like Netflix or Amazon this is a must as Hulu is way too much navigate and inappropriate material.
Susan
My family does not care for sports and still have an extensive blue ray collection of content. So No to the Bundle
Chris
Well that stinks. I guess we will be cancelling. Just another bad move by a Bob at Disney.
Melissa
Before you know all the facts, don’t fire people who obviously did not deserve it. For example, Johnny Depp. He made millions of dollars and millions of fans for Disney. Karma bites. Need to make things right
Debbie Lambert
Do not like this at all. The reason we have disney plus is so I dint have to worry about what my kids are clicking on and watching. One is a 3 year old. I love Disney as a family friendly environment. I don’t care what other adults want. This is suppose to be for families.
Amanda
Very disappointed! If we wanted a HULU subscription then we would have it already. You’re supposedly ‘losing money” but going to buy out another company?? 🤔 Seems just like another scheme to bump prices.
H
I have Disney Plus so I don’t have to worry about my kids having access to things that aren’t appropriate for them. I will probably cancel once this goes into effect.
Sandra Nelson
Disney Plus is my favorite being a Christian woman. Now your taking it off this isn’t right I even have it on my phone because I can’t afford cable. Please make available on our phones. I’m low income and can’t afford those bigger prices think of the little people to
Bradley
What about the new Percy Jackson show??
Mark
This will either work out insanely well or Disney may well tank beyond what it’s dedicated fan base and feelings of nostalgia can recover from. Of course, Iger is going to be retiring again; just as soon as he thinks there is someone capable of running a slowly sinking ship.
Julia
YAYY THE BOYCOTT IS WORKING DOWN WITH DISNEY!
Blair
In all honesty I am shocked. I love Disney plus and to hear they are shutting it down is crazy. I don’t wanna know the new prices fir the new bundle and I honestly hope they know later on that doing this will likely make them bankrupt. And if they keep the Florida branch they may as well close it and demolish it to save money as the original is in California if I remember right..
John
I will be canceling my subscription as I had Disney + since it had parent controls and the movies and programs were family friendly. It looks like Disney continues to move away from family friendly entertainment.
DL
Joe@TV
I basically have that on my Roku which is hooked up to my Ai capable TV
Christian
I don’t want and have never wanted a bundle that includes ESPN+. Unfortunately, the only way to get the ad-free versions of Hulu and Disney+ has been to accept ESPN+in the bundle. This makes me feel like I’m forced to pay for something I’m not using. Guess this will continue under the new plan.
Billy Wallace
I am not surprised. Disney +Is too expensive anyhow.
Christina
I think a main reason Disney+ isn’t as good as Netflix is because of the constant buffering. It takes a while to load anything and while searching it doesn’t remember where you were and brings you back to the beginning everytime. It annoys me so much I find I go back to Netflix often.
And don’t take it away until after Christmas at least. That would just be unacceptable.
B C.
Well i already pay for Hulu and Disney separately because i dont care about espn+. I don’t think this is a good idea. I pay yearly for Disney+ and pay rhe Hulu live price monthly. What will the price be
Dina
What else can Disney shove in children’s faces.
Count me out on renewal!!!
P. Frodel
If Disney wants to keep customers they need to really improve the Hulu app… it is the worst one that I use! Hulu has no quick rewind capability, no ability to start movies again at the beginning, too many commercials and generally below par compared to streaming apps!
YoMama
Eliza
I left hulu and all that cause of the price going up! If I’m gonna pay almost $100 a month I will just get directv or something
Angela G Perez
So I have Disney+, ESPN+(which I don’t use) an Hulu I use Hulu mainly so I can watch my cooking shows an Disney + for older classics like Darby o’gill an the little people. I’m neither here nor there on it as it’s paid in my cellphone bill with Verizon currently I will be having a discussion with them on it. however I wish they the complete catalog on Disney.
Jeannette
I will cancel Disney+ if it requires a combo subscription with Hulu. I cancelled Hulu because we did not watch ANYTHING! I will not be forced to pay for something I don’t need. Bad idea Disney.
Mike
Yeah maybe always raising the price isn’t the smart thing to do because why would I pay for a service that doesn’t have much original content and pay an anrm and leg for it?
John
Why, Bob are you doing this, that’s my only Disney go-to programing, now I will not have any, makes me sad, and not think of nothing more than Disney. Please don’t do it.
Mark
I’ve subscribed for Disney+ on a yearly basis. How does that affect my service.
Jake
Get Woke, Go Broke. This happens when you alienate half of the potential customers
Aerial
I will highly disappointed if Disney+ is canceled. I watch this daily. My kids and I all love it.
Aerial
I have currently have Hulu…Disney+…Netflix…Showtime…Amazon Prime.. I still look at Disney more…PERIOD
Christina
My kids love Disney I would hate to lose it but it would depend on how much they raise it
Zelgeth
Just saying, if streaming ends up just like cable, I won’t be partaking. I will be watching but not through their service. I won’t be forced to pay for something like ESPN or Fox News just so you can more easily “upsell” me because its ” all included in the same easy price” . If the price doesn’t decrease/if it increases because of this, I will be canceling. Sorry not Sorry.
Elisha Herr
This devastating for me to find out. My non-verbal autistic 4yo is accustomed to the disney+ app an Mickey Mouse Club House is a life staple for her. No one thinks about the individual repercussions that they inflict when making these choices. This will affect our literal everyday life and cause a ton of grief for her even if it’s just in adjusting.
Rinji
I stopped using Hulu so I canceled it. I only wanted Disney+. I am not happy.
Lucy
I have all three and honestly it’s not worth the cost. Even as standalone apps. If they don’t lower the price I think a lot of people are going to cancel. Netflix just has more personization capabilities and that goes a long way.
Lucifer
Disney did so good over the last decade avoiding anything to bottom them out iger is flailing trying to save his company from tanking. He has only himself and every woke member of his team to blame for the failure of disney+. I love disney or at least I did. It has become something it never had to be. Now you want to charge more and take Hulu down with you. Good luck I’ll stick to Netflix hopefully they can add more on there.
Andrea
I guess this is ok, if you’re loosing money. Can you put what’s in the Disney plus app in the hulu app seeing you’re gonna purchase Hulu but have parental controls for all the other movies.
Jim
I just got a notice that my annual renewal in December will go from $86 to $ 139.
Danny Wilcox
Really miss nat geo wild with my current cable company (Spectrum-Charter Cable)..I never mind paying as long as I get what I’m paying for
George g
Sad they are combining I don’t watch sport so don’t need espn I do like both Hulu and Disney plus Hulu for classic tv shoes you can’t get on Netflix and Disney plus for Star Wars
Owen
This model works fine in the UK and other markets. What’s the difference? Put on parental lock and then when the kids go to bed enjoy something on your own profile. It’s a win win!
Esta
That’s totally sucks. I have small children who don’t even have interest in “adult content” let alone a need for it. At least we will still continue to have access to the Disney collection. Although it kinda feels as if they are taking a cop out. Disney SHOULD have its own app. ITS DISNEY FOR CRYING OUT LOUD…
Regan
You cannot get Hulu in England, but you can get Disney+. So for my son who is a Star Wars loving college student overseas he will be devastated.
Barbara
I don’t have a Disney subscription right now but I have Hulu and don’t want that to go up or change
Michael
I guess I’ll be canceling Disney. I will probably go with Netflix. Not as much of this nonsense and poor management with them.
M
This is why Superbox exists!
Sumdumguy
I’m willing to expend exactly zero dollars and zero cents on anything Disney related. Go woke, get broke!
Angel
Woke is an adjective derived from African-American Vernacular English meaning “alert to racial prejudice and discrimination”.
Dave
It’s all a bunch of crap as Hulu raised their prices as well as Disney, when is enough for you Freddy giants to realize we sre living in a world that is constantly raising prices that not many can afford. Stop will all this nickel and dime stuff.
Paul
Absolutely excited about this change. I use both services now, and it will make it so much easier to keep track of my watchlist, my preferences, etc, once they’re combined.
Angel
Jacqueline Washington
I find it repulsive that again Richie rich milks the common working parents do they can line they litter box with gold flakes. Stop robbing is streaming services already require you to obtain a 3rd Job (rent and groceries) first two.
SimonT
We already subscribe to the “bundle” and rarely watch ESPN. As a matter of fact, with no new Star Wars or Marvel content, we probably watch Hulu the most. If the price increases any more though, we probably won’t be a subscriber of any of their services any longer…
Joe
Good
T
Tracy Moore
We canceled last year because it was too much money already! Antenna, firestick and we get movies at the library!
Shawna Endriss
Very disappointed! We have remained loyal to Disney & it’s the subscription I currently have because it’s family friendly content. I refuse to purchase other Streaming services because it’s difficult to keep my kids from Watching inappropriate content!
Perry Martin
Apple may just offer Disney the Lifeline it needs, and they can pay cash.
KGIRL
Why is it leaving? I love watching the old movies i used to watch aa a kid. I love Disney +.
Wayne
I think the idea to join Hulu is excellent. Please keep your content and clearly define ADULT & CHILDRENS swim lanes for content. This will work.
Mark
TheBusiness
This is a terrible decision your gonna put hulu on Disney+ and not put all the rated R or pg 13 shows or movies which will ruin hulu. People watch certain streaming apps just for what’s on that particular one and your gonna takenit away. Such a shame will not buy if this happens.
Michael
Keep Disney + and forget about hulu I like how it is so keep it the way it is
August Rose
I just paid it..they should give us our money back. Especially since it keeps going up.
Tristin
I will be very sad to see it change. I love that I can go on Disney+ and simply know everything is appropriate and good to watch. It is refreshing in this world full of chaos.
Kirk
Most likely the reason for the shortfall is netflix isnt limited. If hulu is removed there are other streaming services…
Thomas
My Disney+ renews itself in the middle of December for the whole year! Are they going to honor that payment or am I out of luck? Should I cancel my subscription in a couple of weeks?
Eren
Definitely not happy about this change.
David Evans
Disney+ outside the US has always had adult content and everyone has survived just fine; it’s only because Hulu already existed in the US (and nowhere else) that there was a kiddie-friendly version of D+.
M. Sammetinger
NO! we do NOT want to see this happening. As it is Disney, etc has a ceo, cfo, and many others who are more worried about increasing their golden coin as opposed to the MILLIONS of children and adults around world who loved what Walt Disney and his team created and dreamed of. Shame on them. Sometimes there are things more important than $$$$$.
Debra
Will this effect Canada and if they merge will Canada get Hulu as well?
Jenn
I’m not too thrilled about the change that Disney is thinking of making on Disney+. I don’t watch ESPN and I don’t have Hulu. I noticed that my Disney+ went up five dollars a month (total of $60 a year).
I don’t think I would want to pay more money for something I don’t watch. This may convince me to cancel my subscription to Disney+.
Jackie
The way Disney has been going, I really don’t care if they lose everything! The changes they’ve made and the things they stand for now is heartbreaking. I for one will not miss it and will NOT pay extra for the hulu/ESPN/Disney merge.
Zap08
So instead of Disney creating non Woke good content, they’ll push bundles? Disney, Bob, you’ve learned NOTHING. It’s not the delivery of content that’s the problem. It’s the content itself. Long gone are the days of original storytelling. Movies like The Goonies, Ghostbusters, ET, etc….everything today us rehashed into Woke Agendas. It doesn’t work! Go Woke Go Broke!
Jacqueline Hinson
Mj
One word GREED
J
It was convenient while it lasted, but I’ma just go right back to steaming off other sites like fmovies
Jennifer
No, I would not like to bundle. I just signed up for Disney+ to give my granddaughter options to watch her favorite and new Disney movies. I am already a Prime and Netflix member and would not see a benefit of signing up for a Hulu Disney bundle. I
Deborah Smith
I grew up watching Disney in the 50’s and 60’s, and I still like Disney, bit depending upon the price hike, ÌDK!!
Upset
We live in Canada and can not get hulu. What does this mean for us.
If we can’t get it that would be cutting your money profits. The whole country will not be able to get it, meaning no money from here.
Terree Nunley
So in other words he is basically forcing people to go back to Hulu that canceled it last month when they raised it another, what $2 or $3 again from 8 months ago? No thank you I will just let Disney go like I did Hulu when they raised it last month and the same with Netflix. At this point I can add cable to my internet for $20 and get 125 channels. Sorry Iger you are not going to force me to go back to Hulu and get even more money from me when you raise the price yet again with your new “beta” version.
MikeyB
Ok by me. I already have them all anyway. Disney is my go-to streamer, so putting them all in one place is just a couple key strokes different. Parental controls are my responsibility.
Cartman
Put a chick in it and her her gay AF !
Bill
This sounds like cable. Lots of things you don’t want get bundled together for a higher price.
Taylor kelly
My kids love Disney they spend more time on Disney than any other app. This is sad
Lyssa
If they merge they should create a child version for children tablets where they can have there family friendly or some sort of lock feature.
As for the raised prices everything else takes our money. You should keep it add free and lower than netflix and you will get everyone to flock over to your program.
Offer a special for cyber Monday that will roll over into the BETA to get the interests to stay.
Offer a college and low income discount like other streaming services do. Granted it’s only a year or few months but it help build clients. Get them attached than give them the choice to stay or go
John
Just like the rush for electric cars, which are great actually, but, to just change business models on a whim, then learn, there are great challenges with change…makes more challenges.
Les
I do not want that ESPN in a package I do not watch sports nor do I want to watch sports. Nor do I want to pay for sports. Just because ESPN is losing money don’t make me pay for it as a bundle
Lee
Bubba Hotmail
Cancel Disney Plus, support free speech
brian
disney should be declared a menace to family values
Ffwr
Damn.. I was hoping Disney was going to cancel Disney plus and hopefully one day go bankrupt….. Disney refuse to accept so many of their problems is they have gone extreme woke, I make sure I support nothing from Disney and recently Sony sense Sony is has gone aggressively woke also.
James Honeycutt
I do not follow sports at all. So I hope I can just combine Disney + with hulu and call it good.
Lipth
We already dumped everything Disney. It is no.longer suitable for families, this mpve proves that.
