The copyright expiring only applies to early versions of Mickey, more recent ones can still be held. That being said, there are other ways they can protect him, but ultimately copyrights are not intended to go on forever.

But I don’t think Disney will actually retire him, more likely we will see a new series (hopefully with a better animation style) come along in a few years.

    1. Alex

Maybe a House Of Mouse reboot will fix this whole thing.

      1. LuAnn

Well then O guess there will be no reason to go to Disney World or Disney Land if there is no Mickey or Minnie, or Daisy or Donald or Pluto, or Goofy! And might as well drop the subscription to Disney+! Nothing good to watch on it anyway!!

        1. Joanna Ross

I agree with you 💯 percent. I have been going to Disney World since I was a child.

      2. Nunya

Don’t really care, Disney World has became a joke of a company trying to be “woke” 😞 so good riddance Mickey!

        1. Daryl-Rhys

Why don’t you just say good riddance to your own life.

    2. LindaFraser

I hate that they are even considering this. As it’s has been said they can make newer versions of Mickey. With that being said Mickey Mouse is by far my favorite character. Copyrights I suppose can’t last forever.

    3. No way!!! Mickey is the entire vision of Disney….whoever wants Mickey Mouse to retire is nuts.

    4. Superman

      WRONG!

  2. Gary

Whoever come up with that one should be booted in the rear end all the way to the entrance then banned from Disney for the rest of his or her life!!!

    1. Sandra Watson

Why?? He is the face and heart of Disney. ❤️❤️

Leave him as his aging self, in retirement. With family, grandkids, etc.

He will be missed horribly ❤️

      1. Cindy

        I call bull crap!!!

        1. Bob

Disney will have a new trans grasshopper –

          1. Bob

Disney went Woke and betrayed its base! It’s as dead as Walt!

          2. Official Jan

Too many fascists such as yourself are the reasons why Walt sided with the Natzis. They were able to get things done while all you guys do is spew crap online. Go back to your conservative church and grope more of our children why don’t you!

      2. Michael

My father was a founding member of the studio. His work appeared in Fantaisia and Pinocchio. Mickey is Disney to me. But Disney is not Disney anymore. So I wish it was a surprised to see this being considered.

      3. Alberta Laws

Retirement for Mickey Mouse is absurd. He is Disney, I don’t care what the problem is they need to fix it without getting rid of Mickey.

      4. Cindy

Disney is Mickey Mouse won’t be the same .But Disney has changed it doesn’t give you that family feeling anymore

    2. Sandra

      Exactly

      1. Sandra

Mickey Mouse kid eventual to Disney!! Why are we trying to make changes to the things we grew up with and love!!

        1. Sandra

Well that didn’t come out like I meant it to! I meant Mickey is an essential part of Disney! Why are people trying to change the past and recreate something new. Maybe include new, but keep the past!

  3. Gary

I also want to add Mickey’s first name was going to be Mortimer Mouse which is the name Walt had thought up. But Lillian his wife put her foot down and said no it would be a little hard for little ones to say so the come up with Mickey. Here is why, say these names to yourself– Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Donald, Pluto, Chip, Dale, Daisey, and there are others but do you notice that they were all one or two syllables making it easy for little ones to say!

    1. Gary

One more thing Walt did not draw the first Mickey Mouse the honor went to “Ub Iwerks” he made the drawing sometime around 1928! Mickey Mouse & the rest of the 5 are the center piece of Disney AND SHALL NOT BE TOUCHED PERIOD!!

    2. Gary

Walt did not do the drawing of Mickey Mouse that honor went to “Ub Iwerks” he did the first drawing of Mickey Mouse somewhere around 1928. Mickey Mouse and the rest of the 5 are the center piece of Disney SO DO NOT TOUCH OR DELETE MICKEY IS THAT UNDERSTOOD !!

      1. Janis

        I agree with that

      2. Wayne

Amen. Mickey Mouse shall forever be the face of Disney. That has already been shown over the years. Disney! Why?! Wake up, and stop trying to be “Woke!”

  4. Jerry Minner

Disney will survive, but retiring Mickey is a mistake. He is the REPRESENATIVE of all things DISNEY. An icon, a brand and the symbol of what Walt wanted people to believe in, honest, clean, humorous and loyal to all. There are so many other adjectives that can be used but, to those that work for the company he is essential to the parks, the children and the adults that are still young at heart …if you don’t believe that, just look at the lines that form around Mickey and all the Disney Characters just to have a photo taken, an autograph and to give him a BIG HUG!! How can you retire an image like that, that means so much to so many around the world.

    1. Rodney G Patton Sr

      Really Disney!?
Reminds me of the new Coke back in the 80’s.
Woke is going to make y’all broke!

      1. Ark Bien

Disney is retiring the earliest version of Mickey, not getting rid of he I’m entirely

  5. Mickey. You will be honorably missed in 2024. I understand why you been retired for so long. Perhaps i’ll be a new character someday in 2024.

    1. Oliver

How can Walt Disney Be Standing In Front Of Disney Without Mickey. You Can’t Have Disney World Without Mickey. There’s Got To Be A Better Solution.

    2. Tyler bradley

No it won’t, mickey has to stay

  6. The Great. Santini

Looks like Iger put the nail in Mickey Mouse’s coffin. The wokeness generation killed Mr Disney’s dream

    1. Jan

It’s too bad Mickey Mouse is still hanging out with liberal Disney. Pick your friends wisely.
My reply: Thank you. Liberal Disney needs to go down. There is no longer a Walt. Children shouldn’t be submitted to witchcraft & employees who are “ungodly” shouldn’t have their “partners” health coverage covered.

      1. Lindsay

You are a sick, hateful individual.

      2. Steve

You forget, your God does not apply to everyone. Especially because any argument you make for the validity of your God can be used to validate any other god.

      3. Jen

You are so gross. Go climb back on the turnip truck you came from.

    2. Carolann mclaughlin

I agree with Santini. Disneyland and Disney World ARE what Mickey and his character friends ARE….. i watch the little ones to this day when they see pictures, toys, clothing, etc.. Their eyes light up!!! i’m an oldie and still enjoyed the trips and movies. Guess it’s just gonna be another plain park. I’ll spend my money going to one of the other parks near my home and around the Country. Will be cheaper anyway. Can’t stand the way everything great in this Country is going to pot!!!

  7. Karen

Walt Disney&Mickey mouse have been part of my growing up yrs. Almost 70 now. Cartoons now days r totally different. Mickey& Disney fit like hand in glove one lost with out the other. Shame on people for trying to make something bad of Disney. There aime was and hope still is ,is to make families laugh, have fun, enjoy there vacation .Keep on going Disney and mickeyMoese

    1. Kendall Beaubian

I wonder who will be their new Mascot?

      1. I hope they do to protect Mickey’s reputation. Considering the direction in which Disneyland has been going this last year, I hate to see them take Mickey Mouse into the gutter with them.

        1. Brenda

Mickey Mouse is THE face of Disney. Letting him go as mascot, and especially his copyright, would ruin him. He is the most popular character to meet in Disney, and rightly so.

    2. Jan

Karen, shame back on you for calling out good moral people calling Disney evil. Disney did that all by themselves.

  8. Theresa

No Disneyland without Micky ,thousands of Boys &Girls would heartbroken Just like there’s no pirates without Jack Sparrow.

    1. The new Mickey will be Ron DeSantis

      1. Roger Still

        More like the new Goofy

      2. Fred

Cruella Deville would be more fitting for DeSantis.

  9. It will be a very sad day if Mickey retires 😞 Mickey is what Disney is all about for me, along with my collection of Purses, Backpacks, Ears, & a Pandora bracelet exclusively of Mickey.
Guessing you can figure where I stand on this issue!
    #Mickey 4ever!

  10. He was a good guy

  11. Amy

    Mickey is such a icon

  12. Disney Boy

Okay this is overdramatic as there is nothing that indicates they are phasing him out. Even the news said it was the final in the series of shorts. Not the character himself.

  13. Patriot1967

Disney has been losing money on all their recent films, so get rid of Mickey…good bye and good riddance!

    1. Jan

Thank you Patriot. There was a time and season for everything there is no longer Walt and Disney can go down with their liberal actions now.

      1. Pearl

I feel that way on one hand but on the other I will miss Mickey if he is truly retiring. So dig up all the old Mickey stuff that you have saved, it’s either going to be worth a lot or nothing at all.

    2. William Maceri

Oh man, that’s harsh. It’s not Mickey’s fault.

  14. Mary

Walt Disney , startrd with Mickey. Kids around the world love Mickey and Minnie. Disney is nothing without these two people. Dont ruin it for children of all ages

    1. Gary

Walt will always for ever be in the minds of “Walter Elias Disney” fans and it will be passed down for many generations to come. MARK MY WORDS THAT THIS WILL HAPPEN!!

      1. William Maceri

I agree. It should never happen.

  15. Fran

Very truly a shame. It seems as if the company is in a self destruct mode.
    I hate to see this

    1. Jan

You are correct. They started their self-destruct mode in the early 90s at least when they were covering homosexual partners Health Insurance. They’ve just gotten worse. They can disappear now.

      1. Chris

You’re a disgrace to God and country. It’s laughable that you probably call yourself a Christian. God is ashamed of you

      2. William Maceri

Man, that has nothing to do with any of this. I think you should keep thoughts like that to yourself. There’s an old saying. Sometimes it’s best to keep your mouth closed and be thought a fool, than it is to open it and remove all doubts. You may need someone to explain all this to you.

      3. Mickey

Bigotry knows no bounds. I would bet your “God” is quite disgusted by you. Nobody cares about your political or religious views.

  16. Kendall Beaubian

I wonder who will be their new Mascot?

    1. Dylan Mulvaney

  17. If you erase and take away Mickey Mouse, you are essentially erasing and taking away from what Walt Disney created himself! The iconic “Ears” are all over the Disney Parks and paraphernalia. We’re already changing out rides that Walt created and installed. STOP already. Disney will continue to see a decline in $ if this move is made as well. Bar none.

    1. William Maceri

      You’re right!

  18. Blackstar

Are they nuts 😳? He is one of the main reasons that I go to Disney land.

    1. Xavier Robledo

It not going to affect the current Mickey only the original version.

  19. Tiffany

No way. Disney will NOT survive without Mickey because he is the most wonderous mouse of all.

  20. is this true ?

    1. Xavier Robledo

Only for Mickey from the 20s and 30s will be entering.

  21. Xavier Robledo

What is going into copyright domain is the steamboat willie version of Mickey. The current iterations will not be. So when Mickey does it would be that version and not all versions so be careful of just going out and using Mickey Mouse. Know it for the original 1928 version that appeared Steamboat Willie, Plane Crazy and Galloping Gaucho. Just be careful once it does hit if plan to use Mickey as most of his versions will still be copyrighted. I think this pertains to Mickey from the 20s and 30s only.

    1. William Maceri

That’s different. If the original poster would have explained it using your words we would all have a better understanding of it all and all feel better. Retiring the Mick, would be like Retiring the American flag.

  22. Andy

Be young or old, even if the copyright expires, Mickey Mouse will always be the icon for the anything Disney.

    1. Wolfsmile

      I agree with you 💯%! 🙂

  23. Wolfsmile

I’m so glad I grew up when I did! We had the best of Disneyland! My days of visiting the park are behind me. It’s disappointing what they have done to the Magic Kingdom. Now Mickey Mouse is going wayside as well?!? In my humble opinion, they shouldn’t use the phrase The Happiest Place on Earth. The Most Overpriced Place on Earth fits it much better. Thanks for the memories….

    1. Jan

You are correct. They started their self-destruct mode in the early 90s at least when they were covering homosexual partners Health Insurance. They’ve just gotten worse. They can disappear now.

  24. Brian Roche

    This is sad to hear

    1. Official Jan

You’re so right! These Disney republican hogs are the reason for the fall of the company. Walt knew better than to side with the low hanging fruit and stuck with the Natzis.

  25. TJ

Without Mickey Mouse Disney is on its way out. They better hang on tight to the mascot and icon that made them what they are. Lose Mickey and it will all go down the drain.

    1. Jan

TJ, Disney has already gone down the drain.

      1. Barbara

        Thankfully

  26. Stop this

Bonkers that you think they’re retiring the character, or that this is linked to the Copyright thing
This is just the end of the current generation of shorts. He’ll still be appearing at all the theme parks (and now rides!) into perpetuity, AND at least 2-3 toddler shows on Disney Jr, I’m sure.

  27. Roger Nurick

So what if he enters the Public Domain and people have access to him to do whatever they want with him?

Your company has people that are smart enough to come up a new Mickey Mouse feature. I double-dog dare you not to conceed, but rather fight to save the one mascot that means something to everyone. He’s not just a cartoon character- he’s a national treasure. Shame on you all for forgetting what Walt Disney said, “Just remember one thing – it was all started by mouse.”

  28. Erica E Brodie

To be honest retiring Mickey Mouse at Disney is like retiring Popeye at Universal Studios. Mickey and his friends are the face of Disney’s World and it wouldn’t be the same without seeing them. Just Universal Studios to out Jaw’s Ride the Flintstone Ride and the Original King Kong Ride shouldn’t have be taken out. It’s not the same without them.

  29. Suzanne melkoski

Whoever made that decision should be fired.

  30. Barbie

What a sad loss for ALL of US…
Without Micky, there is no point, he was typically the foundation of what made that company survive,
Regardless of what has been created, since Micky’s …
For ALL the Generation that has past, everyone has always known,
He was what I’ll call the “Grandfather” to them all…
    From here on out,
All the future Generation’s can never fully understand the stamina of influence that kept the circle of creation alive and going,
Disney will be lost in there own World.
The Americana of Disney will never be,
    Disney World again without,
    “Micky and his Friends,
That People of all ages, looked forward to meeting up with, for that Famous Family Photo taken.
Micky always was a great at teaching/promoting
    A HEALTHY BEHAVIOR !

  31. Disney would never retire Mickey especially since everyone loves Mickey and so did Walt Disney and he would be heart broken if his company gave up on protecting Mickey

  32. Disney Can’t survive Without Mickey Mouse

  33. Maggie

Disney would never retire Mickey to retire him would be a huge mistake especially since everyone loves Mickey and so he did Walt Disney and he would be heartbroken if his company gave up protecting Mickey

  34. Joshua Bailey

Why is this happening? I love Mickey mouse!

  35. Jacob Allen

Disney cannot survive without Mickey Mouse!

  36. Faz

This would be the worst thing Disney would do. Why take away something that lives in all of us. Life is hard enough. Don’t take Mickey Mouse away from the people.

  37. KT

This happened to Superman awhile ago. The copyright to Max Fleisch’s Superman cartoon lapsed (yes; the same DC Superman) and now anyone can put out a DVD or similar with that old cartoon but it hasn’t affected DC’s exclusivity with Superman.

  38. Anonymous

Absolutely not! If Mickey goes I’m done with Disney

  39. Kayla

    Whyyyyy

  40. Barbara

It would be a major mistake to retire Mickey Mouse. The Disney Company has already done enough damage to it’s brand without, yet, another move away from the original Disney charter.

  41. Debbie Coffman

Absolutely ridiculous. Disney needs to take what ever action necessary to avoid this. How do you have Disney without Mickey Mouse?

  42. No l don’t think Disney will survive by retiring him or Minnie Mouse. They have made happy memories from adults to children since the 50’s. Children around the world all know Mickey and Minnie and they sleep with them ìn stuffed toys, clothing and bedding. They are lions to Disneyland and you retire them you might as well close all the amusement parks.
Walt Disney is probably rolling over in his grave knowing that this is happening.

  43. Asa Genesis Grashen

DON’T GO MICKEY, WE CAN’T LOOSE YOU, YOU’RE MY FAVORITE MOUSE!!!!😭😭😭❤️❤️❤️

  44. Phuk Disnee

There is noting wonderful about Disney these days!

  45. The current CEO wants to sell Disney to Apple ! Maybe it’s time for Mickey to retire ?

  46. Bridgett Hollins

Mickey Mouse is Disney!! I will most likely cancel my Disney + subscription if this happens.

  47. Leha

It seems like Disney is gonna another Big wrong decision. People with too much $$ …why get rid of an Icon !? SMH 🤦‍♀️

  48. A.G.Rico

What a disgrace to remove the most famous and original icon from Disney. Walt Disney Must be rolling in his grave seeing the constant destruction of his dream.

  49. Chris

You can’t do that Mickey Mouse has 5 years left till his 100th birthday

  50. Valerie Johnson

No! Mickey is the reason there’s Walt Disney everywhere, I bet there are a gazillion people who have memories since Mickey was born! 😕

  51. Raven

Disney won’t survive without Mickey Mouse, he is Disney.

  52. Jan

It’s too bad Mickey Mouse is still hanging out with liberal Disney. Pick your friends wisely.

  53. Derek abdullah

No way Disney can survive without that beloved mouse I’ve been loving Mickey since I first met him back in the spring of 1984 Rockford Illinois northtown Mall ever since then I’ve been a Disney lover for a long number years I’m going to continue to be a Disney lover to the day I die I love you Mickey you too many Goofy Donald Daisy and Pluto he is such a pretty little pooch I would love to get kisses from Pluto

  54. Derek abdullah

Oh did I feel dimension I’ve been collecting Disney glasses for the past 5 years since I moved here from Chicago Illinois I’ll go to every Goodwill store I can find here in Milwaukee Wisconsin and my Disney glasses Disney t-shirts Disney calendars anything Disney I can find and I got the coup de gras the big Mickey mouse plush doll sitting on my bed right now I found him at the Goodwill back in 2019 on 2nd and Capitol here in Milwaukee Wisconsin I fell in love with that plush doll ever since I first laid eyes on him when I lay eyes on that Mickey mouse plush doll my heart skipped a beat

  55. Derek abdullah

Who came up with that idea making sure retire if I would have found out who said this idea I would personally have them taken out in the middle of the street and run over by a bus and just like Dwayne The Rock Johnson say I would lay the smackdown on a candy you know what Mickey is Disney him and many Goofy Donald Daisy Chippendale and Pluto and the rest of the Disney cast I will save I’ll find out who that person is they better pray to God I’m going to put the beat down on a candy you know what I don’t want to talk negative but Mickey he is Disney for since 1928 and him and many returning 95 real soon November 18th 2023 that be officially 95 years old I would love to go to Walt Disney world in Orlando Florida to meet Mickey and Minnie before I get any older I’m already 52 years old but I will be a Disney lover to my time on this planet is up

  56. Derek abdullah

Oh did I meant to mention Mickey and Minnie are the prettiest looking mouses for being 95 years old when they pretty little eyes from a pretty round heads and a beautiful feet especially Mickey and Minnie those two have the prettiest looking feet you’re going to find on a couple of mouses goofy he got beautiful feet too finger size 18 Daisy she got pretty wet feet sort of Donald and their nephew he was doing Louie Mickey’s little nephews Marty and Freddy and Mickey he got a beautiful sister and I thought I had beautiful feet from my late mother Mickey and Minnie taste the cake for having the prettiest looking feet oh I didn’t want to say this but those two look pretty when they completely naked special day swimming in a swimming pool completely naked

  57. Pamela

Disney- Iger- HOW DARE YOU!?! Noooooo! Do NOT retire Mickey Mouse!!

He is the namesake of Disney! I knew Roy Disney (Walt had already passed) when I worked at Club 33. He would turn over in his grave along with his brother Walt!!

You think your stock suffered recently? Take Mickey out of Disney, and watch what happens next!
    🙁🙁🙁🙁🙁🙁

  58. Jacob

No if Disney does this they are going to lose a lot of money and fan’s of Disney so if they do they won’t have me as a fan because Nikki is Disney it doesn’t matter if he retire him but if you do there will never be any customers happy with the company ever again if they get rid of him in any type of movie or at the parks.

  59. I live in Florida and Disney is nothing like it used to be.
People just are not flocking in here like they used to.
    Disney is really losing it.
All the remakes of the old movies, changing out all the rides and thing’s they are famous for.
They had a standard for which any off site hotel that was recommended by them had to go by.
I rented one of those it had bugs, iron burns in the carpet, mold in the kitchen fridge and in the shower.
I didn’t even bring my stuff into the room.
I called another hotel got a different room and the place I left said oh sorry but we will just rent it to someone else traveling tonight.
I contacted Disney to let them know so maybe they could take it off their list of preferred hotels.
They said yeah we know but these thing’s happen.
That’s when I realized they no longer cared about the customer experience.

  60. Jackson

Will Mickey Mouse ever Come Back?

  61. Malik

This is such a terrible loss…😔

  62. Emma

This just sucks, 😞 Taking Mickey from Disney just feels wrong. Even if he is public domain, they should still keep him around, it doesn’t feel like Disney without the Mouse.

  63. Megan

What’s the point of Disneyland or Disney aWorld and all the rest without Mickey? It ain’t called The House of Mouse for nothin’!

  64. Milky Mouse has been an traditional icon for children all around the world and to retire him would be a travesty of epucperportions.

  65. Emily

Curious to see when/if South Park covers this and how they’d go about it. In their domain Mickey isn’t exactly a particularly loveable character, and the creators were more than happy to showcase the real-life corruption that Disney’s been getting away with for too long. I still have my childhood favorites that I hang onto and enjoy to this day, but I must admit, I don’t agree with all the company practices.

  66. Debi Alvey

Wait must be turning in his igloo. That’s the most absurd thing I’ve ever heard. DISNEY IS MICKEY MOUSE AND MICKEY MOUSE IS DISNEY. All the corporate jerks need to think about what Disney really wanted for children and for adults. Quit thinking about the mighty dollar, and let Mickey do what he does best. Putting smiles on people’s faces

  67. Kim

Wow really? I would think Mr Walt Disney would roll over in his grave that his creation is being retired. If it wasn’t for him creating mickey there wouldn’t be animation. Plus I seen several stories about how they close this ride and that ride for good. Like the the tower or terror was to be shut down. Then they was going to shut down some of the resorts for good. Then not to long ago they said they was going shut down Disney world starting immediately. Well not believing it cause I had family that did a vacation there not to long ago.

  68. Danny

Disney is nothing without the mouse… With all the old property they are messing up, seems like they would want to keep that ace in their pocket

  69. Janice

If there’s no Mickey Mouse, there’s no Disney. That’s the icing on the cake of terrible decisions this company has made the last ten years. I hope everyone boycotts their movies and theme parks if they retire Mickey Mouse.

  70. Victoria

    Q

  71. Toni

They are crazy to retire Mickey. None of these new characters can take his place. I’m 82 and raised with Mickey. Walt will be rolling in his grave won’t like it one bit.

  72. Kayla

Disney shouldn’t retire Mickey Mouse it’s like their trademark they need him to stay

  73. I thinks they shouldn’t retire Mickey Mouse. He is a Great Leader for the Disney Company and was the First Great Character created by a Great man Mr Walt Disney. Kids of any age and adults Hear the word Disney and one of the first Characters that come into there minds is Mickey Mouse. Wen they visit any of the Disney parks throughout the world the First Character they look for is Mickey Mouse.
But if you retire him. You better retire his Friends and pals like Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Pluto, Daisy Duck, Goofy ect that have been with him throughout his life Since he was Created.
They should just make a cartoon movie of Mickey and his friends every o many years to keep him alive with his character Friends. Because if you retire Mickey then what Character do you think should be the leading Character for Disney to replace Mickey?

  74. Jenny

Mickey is Disney and it needs to stay that way.

  75. Weesyanne

I think it’s a huge mistake on the part of Disney.
I hope that they find a way to keep featuring him.

  76. Roxanne Kaplan

This is unthinkable!! Disney IS Mickey Mouse! They have already destroyed so much of why people go…this will bankrupt them. Worst…decision…EVER!!!

  77. Monroe Bange

The retirement of Mickey Mouse is a Terrible idea..
There is no need to do this..
There is no redeeming value to justify this move..
    Mickey Is Disney..
    Please reverse this decision.

  78. Alex

We need Mickey back, Mickey is a symbol of Disney, if Mickey’s retired then Disney’s retired

  79. Ed

    What about poor Minnie?

  80. Steph

Good riddance now shut pedo Disney down entirely!

  81. Dotty

They should edit out the problem projects and make Mickey Mouse a Special feature at the parks and TV shows during Holidays. Don’t totally retire Mickey Mouse. I subscribe to Disney Channel just to see him and his features. If you retire home you are guaranteed to lose a lot of money!

  82. Frank

Also, Television Cameraman Scott S. retired yesterday (7/28) from Disney/ABC’s “Good Morning America” after 45 years!
    Good luck Scott and Mickey!

  83. Of course the Company will survive without their main iconic character-Mickey Mouse-. Disney is the Company with enough talents and intelligent design people or CM to develop different ideas and more interesting and fantastic characters. Yes, I know, it’s sad and unhappy. However, it is the new reality. Disney is a powerful and smart Company, been able to resolve this situation. Good luck. God bless the Company.

  84. Terri

I hope they do for Mickey Mouse’s reputation. Considering in the direction Disneyland is going especially since this last year I hate to see them take Mickey Mouse down the gutter with them.

  85. Terri

I hope they do to protect Mickey’s reputation. Considering the direction in which Disneyland has been going this last year, I hate to see them take Mickey Mouse into the gutter with them.

    1. DreamChild

~Mickey Should NEVER Be Retired..”It All Started With A Mouse”…He And Minnie Are The 1st Ones That Pop Into Your Mind When You Hear And/Or Think About Disney…This Is Sad..On Too Many Levels…Don’t Retire Him…Create New Adventures For Him…..And Go Back To The Original Way Of Drawing Him And Minnie And Donald And The Rest…There Are Children Born Everyday Who Want And Need Mickey And Minnie….Don’t Take Away All The Magic For Them…✨️💝✨️

  86. P Thomas

Why, I have loved Mickey my whole life. My granddaughter loves Mickey Mouse. I used to watch the Mickey Mouse club with Annette Funicello. Why he is an Icon. This upsets me beyond belief! Like losing a childhood friend.

  87. Bob Bleg

Disney will perish without Mickey Mouse. They clearly no longer know how to run the business.

  88. Jk

    Wow yuge bummer

  89. Barbara

Anyone who owns Disney stock should sell it now to cut their losses.

  90. Mona

You must keep Mickey Mouse!!!! He is Disney for many generations past, present and we want him for the future generations as well.

  91. Elisabeth Anderson

Seems odd that no children will be able to see Mickey Mouse in the future

  92. Leesandro Rodriguez

This will definitely put a large dent in Disney. People specifically go to Disney to see Mickey! When you think Disney, you think Mickey! Doing this will be like a major family member dying and the family will never be the same. 🙁

  93. Elisabeth Anderson

Mickey Mouse has been a favorite of all ages.

  94. Dink

    Nooooo!

  95. Carl

Lies, just the steamboat Willie version would be entering public domain

  96. Aaron Brigham

Mickey mouse should never be retired he’s the key character for Disney. Just like Aladdin and Mario, bugs Bunny and Daffy duck. Shame on Disney world it’s the spirit of America of joy

  97. Joseph Kalwitz

Idea in my opinion is a moron and should be fired and band from Disney for life and all who agree with it He’s been an iconic character for 100 years what would be severely disappointed and he’s rolling in his grave right now people around the world kids and adults alike are going to be heartbroken over this and the fact that they think this is a good move I think would take a big hit to it and how many people in this world are not just going to be heartbroken but outraged and severely furious that this happened. Disney should have the right to Mickey and every one of their iconic characters indefinitely. Facts 100% and no one should disagree with that fact but of course it’s all about money which is absolutely sad and pathetic!!! And like I said everyone that agreed with this decision should be banned for life and all who consider it I’m heartbroken and furious wrapped in one it will never be the same without him.

  98. Maureen

    If Mickey Goes…

    Disney is no longer …
    It goes too!

  99. Edward Grable

Mickey Mouse be careful do not tread into the Bud Lite paradox

  100. Raquel

No they won’t survive without Mickey Mouse. He is the face of the dream and adventure.

  101. Deb c

In my opinion Disney as I knew it in the past is done. So sad the current powers in the company have ruined it. We will not be returning to the Parks, I canceled Disney+ over a year ago. Glad we have our memories.

  102. Terri

Disney is not Disney without their icon Mickey! Walt is turning over in his grave. Shame on you!

  103. Jaimito

Well, for over 100 yrs, Mickey made the world smile!

  104. Bonnie

Please don’t leave Mickey in the past . Woke was the first ignorant thing to do and don’t make this the second. If it wasn’t for Mickey Mouse there wouldn’t have been a Disney to begin with .So please rethink your future and keep Mickey Mouse and his whole gang

  105. Steve

Mickey Mouse IS Disney. Why don’t we just tear down the Statue of Librrty and put up condos. This is how society runs now? “Tear it down, no matter what it is!! We need ‘progres!!’^. FOOLS!!

  106. J

    This doesn’t even sound right

  107. Dom

This is tantamount to erasing Santa Claus, the Tooth Fairy and the Easter Bunny. Mickey Mouse and friends are a part of the fabric of Western Culture that spills over into many other cultures on the planet. What’s the point of Disney if there is no Mickey Mouse? The icon maybe stilted and somewhat less than modern or “politically correct,” but it’s MICKEY MOUSE!

  108. This is terrible idea. Mickey Mouse is Disney. The Magic of Disney has already been sucked out with all the changes made since Covid. Don’t take him away too.

  109. Randy Nocks

No mickey mouse means no disney! Which means its all over folks!

  110. Dennis

Disney continues to screw the pooch, albeit not Pluto nor Goofy…
The Disney destruction marches on with its WOKE decisions…good ridence!

  111. Robert L. Peterson

I’m 75 years old, as a child my brother and sisters grew up watching Disney movies with Mickey in them reading comics and going to Disneyland for the first time in 1955 or 1956 and since then I have been back many many times. Thru the years now my wife and I have taken our mothers once, our children many times and our grandchildren. By dropping Mickey as your official spokesperson is a very grave mistake.

    1. Linda Haustman

I so agree with you. Mickey MUST stay

  112. Linda Haustman

I cannot see Disney without Mickey Mouse. He and his crew are the beloved of all ages. My granddaughter’s eyes lit up when she saw him in person as did her mother and uncle when they were little. It will be a sad day in the history of Disney when there is no more Mickey Mouse. I don’t think Walt Disney himself would approve

  113. Swearingen

You have got to be kidding! We are in a country where everytime you see the news or read a paper it is negative. Mickey Mouse is the symbol of the happiest place on earth. Why would anyone want to take that away from both children and adults alike. Disney needs to establish a new marketing strategy other than how much more negative can a company be.

  114. K

No Disney can’t survive without Mickey that is what makes Disney . Very 😔 .One main reason going to Disney is to see the Mouse also we watch those silly cartoon and love them .

  115. Austin

    This is OUTRAGEOUS!
Mickey Mouse is the Face of Disney World & Disneyland! He’s also very much a part of Wonderful Memories for Entire Generations of People!
I think this is one of the Worst Idea’s I’ve Heard Of.

  116. Valerie

    NO NO

  117. It is highly unlikely that the Board of Directors or Chairman Iger would ever entertain the idea of retiring Mickey Mouse. The ramifications of such a decision would be staggering, particularly in terms of the revenue losses stemming from merchandise sales and theme park attractions. Given Mickey Mouse’s status as one of Disney’s most cherished and lucrative assets, his removal could have a profound and lasting impact on the company’s financial performance.

The potential fallout from discontinuing Mickey Mouse goes far beyond just revenue losses. Shareholders, who have a vested interest in the company’s success and profitability, would likely react strongly to such a move. A decision of this magnitude might prompt shareholders to initiate a derivative action against the corporation, the Board of Directors, and all corporate officers.

In such a derivative action, shareholders would essentially sue on behalf of the company, alleging that the decision to retire Mickey Mouse was a breach of fiduciary duty. They would contend that the board and officers failed to act in the best interest of the shareholders and that the resulting losses in stock prices and market capitalization were avoidable and damaging.

As a side note, if this hypothetical action were to lead to a further decline in the company’s stock price and a reduction in market capitalization, it could have adverse consequences for top corporate officers like Iger. Many of these executives hold significant amounts of company stock, which means their personal wealth is directly tied to the company’s performance. A decrease in the stock’s value would result in substantial financial losses for these executives, intensifying the potential backlash against the decision to retire Mickey Mouse.

Ultimately, considering the potential legal, financial, and reputational risks, it is improbable that any serious consideration would be given to retiring Mickey Mouse, given his iconic status and immense value to The Walt Disney Company.

  118. Please don’r retire Mickey Mouse! I cannot live without him!!! Please reconcider!

  119. Amy

Disney is losing all its Magic it’s going to be another boring park.

  120. Janet. Dillman

I am 83 yrs old and have loved Mickey Mouse my entire life, in my opinion there is no Disney without that beloved mouse. I planned to take my entire family to Disney World to celebrate my 80th birthday but couldn’t because of Covid. It’s a sad day to think anyone would RETIRE Mickey. He IS Disney

  121. Beth

Steamboat has always been my favorite. Mickey in general my favorite. I think releasing him will be a big mistake. That’s like taking a part of Disney away.

  122. William thompson

If they take him away me and my grandkids won’t go there anymore that’s what it’s all about might as well move to another state get out of Florida Illinois made you an offer

  123. William Yrigoyen

Disney is out of the cotton-picking mind!! All that you’re doing is destroying what makes Disneyland, Disneyland what makes Disney, Disney all you want to do is move away from traditional values, with the woke nonsense. You don’t seem to understand people do not want their traditional movies changed that’s all the flops that haven’t coming out lately. Your fan base has spoken why do you not hear the message they are screaming!

  124. Ashton

    FALSE

  125. Steven Grayson

Retirement for Mickey Mouse is unthinkable! It is a permanent part of the Disney brand. Children all over the world identify Disney with Mickey Mouse. Please rethink this decision, you won’t regret it.

  126. Jane Franks

That’s terrible! Absolutely must NOT retire Mickey Mouse! He’s the backbone of Disney, and the actual alter ego of Walt Disney himself! Please keep Mickey.

  127. Patricia

If Mickey goes, Disney will lose its heart and core foundation. It will no longer be A true Disney Land/World. It will lose its magic and become just another theme park.

  128. Kathy McManus

Disney is no longer magic. All my life I’ve wanted to go to Disney Land and see the wonderful place Walt Disney lovingly made. But its gone. Rides have disappeared, wokeness runs rampant and now their Mascot is being killed off. It makes me angry and sad.

  129. Kimberly

YOU CANNOT RETIRE MICKEY!!! He is a symbol of happiness. Don’t do it!!!

  130. No he is everything. Even when I was little and I am 73. My children and grandchildren loved him. Now my great grand children love him. Keep him going strong!!!!!!

  131. Xime

Very disappointed. I will be upset if mickey leaves. Remember “it all started with a mouse”..

  132. Rory Sears

It is hard to imagine a world without Mickey Mouse but I feel that they need to keep the disney legacy alive as possible

  133. Clovonet

    Whyyyyyyy

  134. Brooke

Mickey mouse is a great disney character. There are going to be so many little kids and some adults that have grown up with mickey mouse. It will be a very big disappointment to them. Please save mickey mouse and his wonderful friends.

  135. Danielle Hasty

Things at Disney are just getting worse and worse! How do you retire Mickey?? He is Disney! He made it what it is. Why are you listening to the ” Karen’s” of the world and making Disney crappy? Movies gave been awful besides the MCU one’s. It seems like you’re playing safe and just piggybacking off as much as you can off the old classics and just messing those up. Get new actors we don’t need to see the same actor in every movie (I’m not talking about MCU and Star Wars stuff). STOP making live action remakes they aren’t working!

  136. Jason

Absolute Worst News. A Proverbial Death Knell. An Astounding Loss Of History which is just teaching History is not important. Maybe a 5th of the planet recognizes Mickey Mouse. Mickey is as integral to Disney as WALT himself. Is Walt “NEXT”?

  137. Shawnna

I can not believe it!! U r literally erasing history ! I in times change & evolve but keep the innocence plz ! Where I don’t have to explain to my kids y he isn’t there anymore. I have so much I want to say. But it’s not appropriate for here.
The memories I have I hope I never forget.
    Very very sad day.
You keep changing “Disney” of what it was to what ever it is now .. just sad

  138. April

    NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

  139. Ernesto

“Pat Powers, he wanted the mouse and I didn’t have a bean back then. He was this big terrifying New York producer and I was just a kid from Missouri with a sketch of Mickey, but it would’ve killed me to give him up. Honest to God, killed me. That mouse, he’s family”
The new Disney has single handedly destroyed a legacy.

  140. Jason

Wrote a comment & can’t see the others?

  141. Izzy

This would not be happening if Walt Disney was still alive. I am sure he would be so disgusted at what has been happening to his beloved company. The idea of removing Mickey Mouse forever is a sad day for all of the young children of today and tomorrow. Liberalism has infested company and I fear Mickey will be replaced with more liberal ideas infecting young people’s minds.

    1. You are totally right! Walt is spinning in his grave right now! Where is the Disney family. Did they give up everything to ABC

  142. Susan

Phasing out or retiring Mickey will be a disaster. He’s the icon of Disney. I always looked for Mickey as did my children and the list goes on. Bad move.

  143. Disney is Crazy!! Get rid of Isner and all the higher ups that are killing Disney.
Stop being politically correct and just be a damn Theme Park! Stop with sham movies and make cartoons. No more special days at park, ect!!

  144. Rlaredo

Disneyland and its derivatives are already in bankruptcy and if they retire Mickey Mouse, they will loose all their small supporters and they won’t recover plus their investors will regret it. I guess it’s true when they say, “Everything has a beginning and everything has an end” 💥

  145. Diana

If they completely do away with Mickey I won’t be going back to Disney world. I will sell my timeshare. The Disney company wouldn’t be who they are today if it wasn’t for Mickey

  146. Marcia Carter

Disney has been going down hill for several years! Walt is turning over in his grave! Why does the ceo think that Disney has to follow the insanity of the day! DISNEY WAS PURE ENTERTAINMENT AND THATS WHAT WORKED……”.if it aint broke dont fix it”. Just so you know, I have been a Disney fan for 70 years and you have succeeded in ruining an icon!

  147. Irene willoughby

I want that mouse. The company has destroyed Disney. Leave that mouse alone!

  148. Does anyone else not notice this trend? The Biden administration is trying to erase America

  149. Kay

Disney is Mickey Mouse. Seems Disney is going from bad to worse. We use to go to Disney World a lot. Many years ago it was over 20 times. Last time we went we were so disappointed in Disney that we said we won’t go again. I’m afraid this is happening to a lot more people than us. Take away the mouse you might as well rename Disney.

  150. RoJean

Once again Disney is failing! Too bad it was an iconic corporation that catered to families and happiness, now an evil corporation trying to ruin family values! So sad!

  151. Avery Barry

I don’t really understand why they are getting rid if him he is just a classic so nostalgic. To manny people including myself. It is so sad to see Mickey go but all good things must come to a end.

  152. Sallie

Another Mickey fan. Don’t do this. Just don’t do this. You’ve done enough damage to the magic Kingdom from not playing the music when you first enter the park from Pinocchio to silencing small world to making drastic changes and I’m sure Walt is turning in his grave. Whoever is doing this should be ashamed. Don’t do this.

  153. Matthew

I think this might be the end for Disney.

  154. Debi

Why? They’re replacing him with a Transgender Mickey??
Just one more Reason to HATE & DITCH Disney for good!!
    Bye Disney & Good Riddance!!

  155. I can’t believe that this is really happening! I grew up, as well as my children celebrating Mickey Mouse. This is a huge mistake that Disney has made!

  156. Sandra Watson

Why?? He is the face and heart of Disney. ❤️❤️

Leave him as his aging self, in retirement. With family, grandkids, etc.

He will be missed horribly ❤️

  157. Dawn

Lose Mickey Mouse are you serious!!??!!! Walt Disney is turning in his grave!!!
Shame !!! WDW and Disneyland is the Mouses House!
We would NEVER EVER COME BACK TO WDW IF THIS HAPPENED!!!

  158. Lou

Is there nothing our legal system won’t touch. Now the world will go with Disney having no Mickey. What’s going to take his place ? I’m sure it will be something with no gender assignment.

  159. Samantha

Please don’t retire Mickey and his friends because those personalities are beautiful, caring, Majestic, and even more! Also they are the main characters of our childhood series, Plus you will lose a LOT of money if you do this! ( Thank you for listening to my words. bye!)

  160. Doc

Disney has been in a death spiral for several years now.

Until they go back to what Walt built, I have no use for the house of the mouse.

  161. strix1

Seems like this is what happened to Winnie the Pooh. Trademark rights ended and immediately someone released an “unofficial” Pooh horror movie. I see “Mickey Mouse Gets Cheesed.”

  162. Bob

    Pathetic.

  163. Patti

    Mickey IS Disney!
    They wouldn’t DARE!

  164. ASlate

    BOO!

    Disgusting action by Disney

  165. The Red Wolf

I think Disney just killed it self

  166. You can’t do that to Mickey please don’t want to start at everything

    1. I have an idea why don’t we all make a new Mickey movie and bring them back it would be really good for the company and you guys would probably make millions I’d watch it

  167. Lillian

We will no longer supporting Disney, Disney world, Disney land, Disney anything because you’re retiring Mickey Mouse. Who IS Disney itself. There would be no Disney without Mickey Mouse.

    1. I agree with you Lillian I can’t take Mickey away from us

  168. Melissa

Disney just keeps making great choices 🙄

    1. Melissa you cannot replace Mickey he’s the one who started Disney Mickey is the heart of Disney when are you going to replace them with he cannot be replaced

  169. Michael Battis

No Mickey sad – keep the mouse.

    1. It’s okay if we stand up against Disney and we can make sure Mickey never goes anywhere

  170. Bruce Bevitz

Disney no longer is an entertainment company. They have a mission, not unlike the kamikaze in World War II.

  171. Linda

What is happening here ???? Enough is enough. Disney isn’t disney without Mickey.

  172. Debra

This is a sad day, I am 68 and grew up watching Mickey Mouse and my children and my Grandchildren. Nothing can take the place of Micky . I am broken hearted that they are doing this!!!!!

  173. Angela

    Goodbye Disney!

  174. Michael

    No he’s the main character

  175. Shanda Anderson

You cannot take away what started it all! Keep Mickey Mouse, he is the icon and all things Disney! It will not be that same without him! We lost Walt let’s not lose the only thing left of him!

  176. Tiffany Anderson

Please do not take Mickey Mouse away! He is the most important part of Disney!!! Without him there is NO DISNEY!

  177. Tiffany Anderson

Please do not take Mickey Mouse away! He is the most important part of Disney!!! Without him there is NO DISNEY! Keep Mickey!

  178. Brenda

This is a HUGE mistake on Disney’s part. So many of us have grown up with this ICON! I, for one, will boycott ANYTHING Disney from this point forward, unless they change their minds. BIG MISTAKE. All downhill from here for their company. Walt is rolling over in his grave so they can kiss is a$$!

  179. What Disney did is unforgivable 😡

  180. Michael

    Remember New Coke???
Mickey and Minnie are Disney !
Remove them and remove the magic.

  181. M scheper

Pretty sure it’s steamboat Willie being retired. There have been more than a few versions of Mickey Mouse in a hundred years period. Each one of those has a long term copyright protection based on when they were first presented and copyrighted.

  182. Douglas R Gempel

They need to leave business. This will tank them for sure… Bye bye MICKEY! Bye bye Disney..
WALT IS ROLLING IN HIS GRAVE….

  183. Kim Moore

BOO! He is Disney. Please don’t do this!

  184. Jillian

They can’t retire Mickey Mouse! This is an outrage! Mickey is an icon! We can’t lose him!

  185. Janet

I have to say, I feel very disheartened by anybody who thinks that Mickey Mouse should ever retired. I don’t care what the reason is but that’s another piece of history that you’re looking to throw by the wayside. I think it’s disgraceful, just for profit. You should be ashamed of yourselves.

  186. Jenifer Perez

WHY WOULD YOU RETIRE HIM BRING HIM BACK!!!!!!

  187. Steve

I think Disney’s downward spiral started when it gave into political correctness. Politics and entertainment should not mix. Takes all the fun out. People need entertainment to ESCAPE politics.

  188. Donna Sammario

This is an outrage Mickey mouse has been in every child’s vocabulary for generations we all know him and love him for Disney to give him up his heartbreaking Disney will never be the same without him and I guess we have my state Governor to blame for that

  189. Karla Lalim

We’re vacation club members. Mickey Mouse is what makes Disney so special. So many wonderful things about Disney. The recent changes have been disturbing which is causing us to rethink our membership.

  190. Jamie

Don’t retire Mickey. He is known worldwide as thr main mascot and persona of Disney.

  191. No. No Mickey. No magic.

  192. Sheila

    ¡¡¡Heck no!!!

  193. Cindy

    I CALL BULL CRAP

  194. Elizabeth

I think you will be breaking many hearts if this happens. Including my own 69 year old heart, and my daughters 41 year old heart. When you ask many people what they’re most excited about in going to Disney World, or Disneyland, it is to see Mickey Mouse. Please don’t let this happ

  195. Delilah Roush

Please stop scamming people with these false accusations of Disney.

  196. Dolly

NO NO NO JUST NO!!!! Are they nuts!!!

  197. Cayden

I can’t believe this! Why would Disney do such a thing like this? They should’ve have kept him and not get him removed off the company forever! Come on Disney!

  198. Ted

Mickey has always been Disney and will always be so. Unfortunately, the buy out of Disney years back has completely destroyed what Disney was and what we loved.

  199. Melanie Wilson

Will Mickey mouse still be at the parks?

  200. Anonymous

Bad idea. He’s essentially what started Disney on the road to major cartoon production. When most people think of Disney they think of Mickey & Minnie. To take away one means you leave a hole for the others like Donald & Goofy to be done away with too. The newer characters don’t have the passaz nor the flexibility this character has shown through the ages. Mickey represents innocence, friendship, and acceptibility of individuality. To take away Mickey is to take away the heart of Disney.

  201. Gman

I’ve got plans for that little guy!

  202. A berger

I will never take children and grandchildren to Disney again

  203. Yvonne

My heart dropped after hearing about Mickey being retired by Disney. I just cant believe it . I’ve been to Disney Land & Disney Workd in Florida over 20 times. Took my daughter when she was 3. Now she’s 40 and we’re taking the grandkids Of course, Mickey is the Star character. But now there’s so many fan favorites. So, Disney will survive and keep going strong without Mickey. But what happens to Minnie, Donald Duck, & the other characters?

  204. Ronald Hanson

Is Disney out of their mind, I associate Mickey Mouse as Disney. It’s their major brand!

  205. Donna

I hope not. He’s still the mascot and anchor that enthralls young children and gets them interested in Disney at an early age. This carries into teen years.

  206. Mickey for governor in Florida

  207. Rebecca Strong

So wrong. You cannot retire an icon. Period. No argument.

  208. Deena

Mickey mouse is Disney.!!!!! 😭😡 I don’t understand why. I’m not happy at all and I know I’m not the only one .

  209. Elaine McCoy

No more Mickey Mouse???????? Unthinkable!! Even Santa Claus lives- Virginia O’Hanlon’s letter to the newspaper, many years ago.
If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!!!
    Leave Mickey alone!!!!!!!

  210. Gard

Walt Disney would clean house of Disney executives, if able!!!!!

  211. Regina

Disney can’t retire Mickey Mouse! Mackey is Disney!! EVERYONE that thinks of Disney, Thinks MICKEY MOUSE!!! I love Disney World, please do not shoot yourself in the foot by “retiring ” the very symbol of Disney!!!!!

  212. Travis

Finally, this bullcrap has come to an end. Rip Mickey Mouse (the original, untainted on that is)

  213. Jerry

Disney is going down hill past few years. Used to go to Disney world every year for the past ten years. Now with the way Disney is handling there company me and my family will not go anymore.

  214. Doris mckinnon

Ive been coming to disney world and disneyland since 1967. If my favorite charactir isnt gonna be there than neither will i!!!!

  215. Charles Ricedorf

    Retire Mickey Mouse….what!
Mickey is to Disney, like Chocolate is to Hershey.

  216. S.J

WHY??? Mickey Mouse Is Disney!!!! Come on People!!!
Disney has all Priced Out Most Middle Class People. Getting Rid of Disney Plays into “Evil” DeSantis Plan to Destory Disney

  217. Tante

I cannot believe that the powers that be think this is a good move. Even though Mickey hasn’t appeared in a movie since 2004, look how popular he is.. The powers are ruining Disney. I wouldn’t pay their exorbitant prices to go to the parks. I believe Walt would be very disappointed in what has become of what he started.

  218. Virginia ellison

Mickey mouse is disney ! It’s because of mickey mouse that there’s Disneyland, epcot center and disney magic kingdom’s all over the globe. So to retire Mickey Mouse is to close down all of the disney park’s the world over.

  219. Connie

Mickey Mouse is the best character ever! I have him in so many rooms of my home. Walt would never agree to retire him! Whoever is running Disney World should be fired & ashamed of suggesting this! Won’t be going there anymore!!!!!

  220. Nicole

No way can they do that without Mickey Mouse Disney is not Disney!!

  221. It will be UnAmerican with out Mickey Mouse even if he had not been on the silver screen but Mickey is an American staple! I am from the generation that used to watch the Mickey Mouse Club! Please do not retire Mickey Mouse!

  222. Daniel Frank

Mickey is as American as apple pie & mom and has been Disney’s longest standing ambassador and should continue to represent the best the company has to offer. Don’t allow Mickey to fade into the closet of history. He is cherished by millions around the world and should be kept alive in his traditional presence .

  223. Deb D

No. No No. Please do not do this. Is this how you thank Walt Disney and family for
All the Billions you have made off of the Mouse !!!
Shame on all of you deciding this.

  224. Geta clue

Wow, you are clueless and the conclusion you have drawn is rather absurd.

  225. I love Mickey Mouse. I grew up with him and the theme park in Anaheim, CA.
It will not be the same with him gone. I say re-copyright him. Walt Disney would roll over in his grave if the mouse who started it all was gone. Shane on you people for even considering such a thing.

  226. Carolyn ross

I think it stinks, because it erases the magic of Disney

  227. John

So goes Mickey Mouse, so goes Disney.

  228. Matthew

The beginning of the end of Walt’s dream has begun. Dreams have officially become Nightmares. So sad

  229. Glenda

Won’t be the same without Mickey Mouse. I feel they will lose a lot of money without Mickey Mouse. There is going to be a lot of upset kids. Heck parents and grandparents too. Makes me sad

  230. Vicki belangee

NO NO NO. MUST KEEP MICKEY MOUSE!!!!!

  231. Bob Diamond

I’m going to be 77 in September…I lost my wife in January..We both loved Disney since childhood…It breaks my heart to see what’s happening to this once great company….I live in NJ,,and even though WDW is closer to me..I’ll be at Disneyland for 10 days in the early part of December..It’s the only park that Walt supervised,,and I still feel the magic…Maybe the trip will lift my spirits..

  232. Javier

Disney without Mickey Mouse is an outrage. What petition do I have to sign in order for Mickey Mouse to be still affiliated with Disney. I will sign my name.

    1. I will happily sign my na.e too!! Long live Mickey!!

  233. I think this is horrible!! Mickey Mouse is Disney!! They need to save him at all costs!! Walt would be turning over in his grave!! Shame on you, Disney!! First Johnny, now Mickey!! I am heartbroken 💔

  234. Should not be done!

  235. Roger Marris

Disney will replace Mickey with Hakeem the Ghetto Rat, to be Diverse and Inclusive.

  236. Sam Smith

Walt is the one I feel sorry for, it is his legacy the Woke management destroyed.

  237. Diana Fette

There is no Disney without Mickey Mouse

  238. Lisa

    DONT RETIRE MICKEY!!!! Super upset!

  239. Jackie P

    This is not okay!

  240. Angela

Disney is already facing financial issues. They are going to continue to hemorrhage money without Mickey Mouse!!

  241. Laurie

    Disneyland without Mickey Mouse—WHY GO!?!

If they pull Mickey’s Clubhouse and all old cartons with Mickey in them it’ll be much easier to skip Disney +

  242. Judi

I’m shocked how can Disney be without Mickey. Are they getting rid of the Mickey Mouse Club too? I just don’t like it

  243. Denise

I literally can’t count how many times I’ve been to Disneyworld. Our first thing on the agenda is seeing Mickey&Minnie . I own all the classic Mickeys& it’s been passed onto my kids who are just starting to have their own now. Mickey is the ❤️ of Disney! I’m concerned about the happiest place on earth. I’m a Johnny Depp /Jack Sparrow lover too. Don’t change what isn’t broke

  244. C. Anderson

So sorry that this is even a topic of discussion!!
What is the matter with so called “people in charge”??
    This should never happen!!

  245. JPK

    Welp… happy 100th, Disney.

  246. Pamela

No!!!! Say it isn’t so! It’s almost as though the current Disney needs an exorcism!!!!!

    What is happening at Disney????

  247. Melinda

Not mickey mouse he is the best..I have loved him 47 years and my kids do to..it want be the same

  248. Larry

    Shame on you 😔🥲

  249. Juan

    ABOUT DAMN TIME!

    1. Melissa Philebaum

Are you sick in the head Juan Mickey Mouse makes Walt Disney World

  250. E

    Why, Mickey, Why????

  251. Phill

I’m unsure what makes it so challenging for Disney to have Mickey enter public domain. Prior to Bob Iger’s spending spree during his first term as CEO, the bulk of Disney’s IP consisted of derivative works based on public domain literature.

  252. Sad day for sure if this is true… Walter Disney created a gem when he came up with Mickey..anyone standing by the decision to do away with him is just downright un American 😞

  253. Kris King

I am an avid Mickey collector, and doing this on my life. I have a lot of interesting things that are Mickey and hopefully someday I can send you a picture. I hate that you guys are taking him away why are you doing this? He is a part of this world, please don’t take him out of my life

  254. Guido

Just make Mickey black, an illegal immigrant or gay and the whole world will rush to kiss its ass and protect it! 🙄

  255. Daphaq

It took 100 years of Disney to finally get a Mickey Mouse attraction. For Christ six, I’m OK with Mickey Lee and retire. Let’s phase out disneyland henry built a whole new land in all the areas in the next ten to twenty years

  256. Maureen Smithers

Very sad to hear that Mickey mouse is retiring. Definitely a sad sad day.

  257. Bruce Holroyd

The way that Disney is conducting certain activities, particularly in their latest foray of live-action replacing established animated characters, I don’t care if they phase out the mouse and everything else they own with the Disney moniker attached! The company has definitely changed its tactical position within the world of entertainment over the last two decades, embracing controversial issues and monopolizing other franchises by using the wealth and power they weild to acquire said franchises under their dominant control! ABC, Marvel Universe, the Star Wars empire…. all controlled by the Disney Corporation!
So, yes! Go ahead and retire the mouse and every other property that falls under the crushing, manipulative control of Disney! I won’t miss any of it!

  258. Jordie

    This is a joke, right?

  259. Cynthia

No I don’t think it can

  260. Ryan

Welp, they just hit the final nail on the coffin for themselves.

  261. Kristy

This is bull and it’s an insult to Disney Mickey is the reason for Disney . If you take Mickey away then you just lost a Disney supporter for anything new

  262. JP

It is sad that “the Disney company” has totally denigrated the legacy of Walt and Roy. Abandoning Mickey is a sad final act by the current organization.

  263. Lisa Backes

Absolutely NO WAY Should They Do Away With Mickey Mouse!! He IS The Disney Company!! WHOEVER Is Responsible For This Must Be INSANE!!KEEP Mickey FOREVER!!

  264. Jimmy V

    Is nothing sacred?

  265. Doris Santiago

This all about politics and greed! It’s about corruption. Eliminating Mickey represents the death of childhood dreams.
This “governor” is crazy; and everyone else who agrees with him. They have children, don’t they?
    STOP THE INSANITY!

  266. Doris Santiago

Who’s next, Kermit the frog, Elmo and everyone else on Sesame Street?

  267. Dana

Mickey Mouse is an institution and retiring should never be a thought! I think it’s Horrible

  268. Rebecca Gambrell

He can’t be retired he is the childhood of many generations and government officials need to stay out of things like this it isn’t their job to decide the fate of this legacy of Micky Mouse

  269. Okief williams

    NO all my memories 💔😢

  270. Why are you doing this? Retiring Mickey mouse!?!! Roy Disney is ruining Walt Disney’s tradition. Everyone loves mickey mouse!!!! Everyone!!!! Please don’t let him destroy the statue of Walt disney and mickey mouse at Walt disney world. Even kids love Mickey mouse. Bring Mickey mouse back. Mickey mouse brings smiles and laughter to everyone!!!! Please keep the Mickey mouse mascot at Walt disney world. Don’t let Walt disney world have Figment the dragon for a mascot.

  271. Anna

Have you y’all lost your minds retiring Mickey Mouse ?? That will be a huge mistake…

  272. Nik

Retire DeSantis & Keep Mickey Mouse

  273. Christopher Greathouse

Mickey Mouse has been a staple for the Walt Disney Company for years since 1928 and now y’all are just letting him retire? Terrible idea😭

    1. Christopher Greathouse

      Please keep Mickey Mouse 🐭🙏

  274. Yeah, they plan to take the statue of Mickey mouse and Walt disney at Walt disney world. Isn’t that a shame? What do you think of a Walt Disney and figment the dragon statue? Do you want a Mickey mouse mascot or a Figment the dragon mascot at Walt disney world? Everything is changing. Kids love Mickey mouse. Roy Disney is ruining Walt Disney’s tradition.

  275. Wanda MacMurray

Wrong you must be crazy. What else is new with Disney. Mickey is the first and last Symbol. I love him at 70 years old along with my son at 49 and gr. Grandson at 4 .

  276. Disney is retiring an American icon !! Mickey Mouse is as American as apple pie !! Bad decision…..☹️

  277. Kenn

No more Mickey, no more Disney!!!!! All other characters will follow…. In which Disney will be even less “Disney”… I guess maybe you can just call it Marvel???

  278. Dwain uyeda

If mickey is retired I vow to never go to a Disney park again. There is no Disney without mickey.

  279. You can’t retire Mickey mouse. Mickey mouse brings joy, laughter, and smiles to everyone everywhere. Keep Walt Disney’s tradition and make everyone happy. Walt Disney built Walt Disney world and Disneyland. He made everyone happy. Keep the tradition alive.

  280. Melissa Philebaum

Why are you retiring Mickey Mouse when he is the main character at Walt Disney World, all of your Disney Characters needs to remain, instead retire some of your employees instead.

  281. Kat Myers

Mickey mouse should never retire so many kids and even adults love him so much. He is to important to loose he is loved by so many people it breaks my heart and I’m sure many other people as well. 😭😭😭😭😭😭

  282. Melissa Philebaum

Are you sick in the head Juan Mickey Mouse makes Walt Disney World

  283. Regina Briskey

Goodbye Mickey, Have known you all my life.

  284. AJ Bennett

Can now truly shut their doors as far as I’m concerned. Noone at Disney has had an original thought since I can remember. They are so busy remaking all the old classics they can’t do originality. Walt has to be spinning in his grave over this travesty.

  285. Carol Lewis

To me that is the unthinkable-to retire Mickey Mouse.

  286. Daniel McFadden

No we will always need Mickey Mouse never ever retire him

  287. Jeanine Nofi

I don’t think so because people will not come if there is no mickey and Minnie mouse. My mother was born on Mickey Mouse Birthday she will be 84 and I was going to take her for her birthday I guess I will not do that if there is not going to be mickey mouse there.

  288. Call Mickey what happened I love you, Mickey don’t do this to Mickey

  289. William

    E

  290. But I still wanna see him when we get to Disney

  291. But I still wanna see him when we get to Disney in September or October

  293. Sandee Hay

Mickey mouse needs to stay a symbol of Walt Disney. Politics should have nothing to do with the icon that’s been there as long as I can remember. Congress needs to step up if that’s what it takes and keep Mickey mouse with Disney

  294. Shamus

You can kiss Disney goodbye unless the do an incredibly fast turnaround. They’ve lost billions at the box office, Disney+ is losing money, the next 2 films that I’ve seen coming out, snow white and Wonka, will be even bigger lists than they’ve had so far and now they are retiring Mickey. I feel bad for the workers but not the executives. Maybe they can spend some of their millions they’ve received in salaries on surgery to remove their heads from their assess.

  295. I don’t want other Mickey Mouse Mascots retire I still want to see some of them please.

  296. I don’t want other Mickey Mouse Mascots retire I still want to see some of them please don’t let them do that.

It would be a shame not to see Mickey Mouse. It’s well loved and only can be done by Walt Disney. If someone in the public forum tries to use him it only reminds us of Walt Disney. Mickey Mouse’s truly timeless.

  299. Kristy

Pathetic that you even write this crap

  300. Donna

I really believe that taking away Mickey Mouse, then has been THE Disney icon could possibly be detrimental to Disney itself. Children and adults alike have enjoyed Mickey for years. It’s most likely going to anger a lot of Mickey Mouse fans. Not a good idea

  301. Leo

Mickey will never retire! He’s the best, and this news is a fake! Never do anything fake

  302. Lorraine

You can’t retire Mickey, he is Disney. Without Mickey, there is no Disney, as far as I’m concerned.

  303. Tara

Can’t leave anything alone can you?

  304. James Gibson

That kinda looks like something that’s considered satire.

  305. Jan

What are you thinking? Retiring Mickey Mouse the mascot of the Happiest Place on Earth. I was so lucky to attend Disneyland on the opening day & Mickey Mouse still brings a smile to my face & im sure many other kids of all ages.

  306. Lance

    I hate he’s being retired..

  307. Bruce Buccolo

Another “Genius” mistake by the current Disney Management to kill the Brand and eventually destroy the company that Walt Disney created.

  308. You are Crazy if You Consider Retiring Micky, But you already proved that Disney, this Family has Been with for Years Now !

  309. Marc A. Guthrie

Are they out of their minds! Mickey Mouse, as well as, Donald Duck are the iconic reps of the Walt Disney Company. To retire either one would be a catastrophic mistake as far as I’m concerned.
Retiring the Mouse would be like retiring “Uncle Sam” or the bald eagle.

  310. GeekyGrandma

    NO!!!!

  311. Linda

I love Mickey Mouse! I would rather see Mickey and Donald and friends than all of the rest of the new woke crap. Please restore Disney to family friendly and kid Friendly shows and cartoons. Stop pushing all the immoral crap on us. I went to Disney World for 33 years in a row. Have not been in in 7 years because of all the sick stuff.

  312. Buddy Tweed

Disney is no longer a wholesome place for children. When my 5 kids were growing up we went there at least 3 times a year. They are grown now with their own kids and refuse to go there. I don’t blame them at all. Look at what te park has become. A platform for gay expression. It’s a shame that a former family friendly park has become filled with hatred and intolerance of families.

  313. Retiring? Hmm not sure I’d call it that per say, but like it or lump it Mickey Mouse is entering the public domain on 1/12024 which means anyone can use his image anyway they choose and can even make derivatives out of him as well. I, speak of original steamboat Mickey mouse that is, for mickey as we know him we will have to wait an additional 15 years before he goes into the public domain. But some folks may call it retirement but I, have a hunch Ol Mickeys not going away anytime soon 😊.

  314. Cindy

Disney IS Mickey Mouse! Best to create a new version of Him to take the retired ones place. Maybe a grown up Jr.

  315. I’m sorry folks but all of talk about Mickey Mouse being cancelled, yet in 5 months Disney’s Copyright ©️ protection expires and Mickey will go into the Public Domain isn’t a coincidence. But now Mickey is accessible to everyone so he isn’t going away, he is going ” GLOBAL ” !

  316. Chris Lewis

Walt Disney has got to be rolling over in his grave right about now. Mickey mouse is Disney and vice versa. Mickey mouse made Disney what it is today, without him they may have never gone anywhere.

  317. Laurcien

Walt Disney would be outraged at what they are doing to his magical Disneyland and Disney world! They’ll probably introduce a new transgender or drag queen character!!!

  318. Debrs

I am sadden to see Mickey go. I have grown up with him and Minnie. I think they are making a huge mistake. Please don’t take Mickey away.

  319. Gretchen pemberton

That is AWFUL!! I just dont know what to say. How very sad. Mickey is such a big part of our lives, our kids lives. I feel like it needs to be fixed IMMEDIATELY!

  320. Sadie

HOW ON EARTH CAN THEY RETIRE MICKEY MOUSE???!!!

  321. Laura

Disney has been showing un family friendly content for years. Most of my friends and family have already left Disney. Now getting rid of the main character is too much. I will be done with Disney after this.

  322. Donna

Please do not remove Mickey. I have been waiting for years for more Mickey but it has not happened. MICKEY IS DISNEY.

  323. Kathy

I’m so sad to hear of Micky’s retirement . He an icon in many childhood lives.
    Please DON’T let Desantis ruin
Disney. (He’s probably mad cause he’s mommy never took him .

  324. JM

Stick a fork in it Disney is done as far as family entertainment. Wouldn’t be surprised if they start producing “Adult” flimsy that used to show in theaters with sticky floors.

  325. Amanda

This is ludicrous!! This is worst move they could ever possibly make. Without him there is no Disney.

  326. Julie

That’s bad Ikie Mackey a lot. All the kids love hi.m. keep him.

  327. Carol

The recent animation of Mickey and his friends with teeth and talking out of the sides of their faces was wired and creepy! Please retire that cartoon!

  328. Gloria Trainor

It saddens and sickens me to think of how far the Disney corporation has fallen from the beautiful, child-centered, innocence that Walt Disney created for children and families. They’ve politicized and sexualized the brand to such a level that it’s unrecognizable I wouldn’t patronize anything Disney at this point if you paid me. Maybe Mickey just wants out of his contract, and who could blame him!

  329. Sherry

I’m 77 yrs and I still love Mickey Mouse! Even my little grandchildren and great are into Mickey. It would be a-shame to end him after all these years, he’s a legacy to us all. He’s been the number one Cartoon Character for Disney for all the year. What would Walt Disney say to this!

  330. Kathy

Good bye Disney and good riddance. The assault on our children and Disneys Pedofilia will never be forgotten.

  331. Rich

How sad to retire this iconic figure of the Wonderful World of Disney. Mickey has been the face of happiness for many decades. Truly a loss that the Disney Corporation will regret!!

  332. Robin

Mickey is the disney icon. You’re forgetting who created mickey You’re forgetting Mr. Walt Dosney ….retire mickey then there will be no disney. It’s great to have new characters but there is only 1 mickey.

  333. Mackenzy

Isn’t it just the steamboat Willie incarnation going into public domain? I thought this was similar to Winnie the Pooh where Disney’s version is still copyrighted but the original book version is now public domain.

  334. Sandra

So sad! Mickey is the protagonist of the dream and all of our childhood fantasy. However, I totally understand the need of protection for that fantasy. Under public domain, the character could be used by anyone to do anything, even negative images and messages, and that would totally ruin the fantasy, and the image of the whole Disney empire.

  335. Johnny Rokett

When it is a continously active logo/trademark it should be renewable for however long it is viable. Having said that, yes if a trademark/logo from a company long out of business or not used in decades that is an entirely different story and should be retired and able to be purchased or up for public domain depending on the circumstances. Mickey Mouse, all the Disney characters, Ronald McDonald, Colonal Sanders, Snap,Crackhead, and Pop are all characters that are too widely known and used to be forced to be discarded just because of age. That’s like saying you have lived on your property for too long were taking your house and giving it to a younger couple to build what they want on your property because you have aged out for no reason than time.

  336. Sandra

They need to solve this soon. There’s exceptions to rules and laws. They’ve pardoned criminal presidents, but no one legislates for good causes.

  337. He’s not going anywhere. Idk why people insist on spreading rumors day after day, but don’t believe this.

  338. Cindy Shrader

Disney won’t make it without. Mickey Mouse. Their “wokeness” is RUINING everything that was good about Disney. The woke people running Disney now are going to put an end to all that’s good and pure. Sorry Walt. Your company will soon belong to the devil. 😭 Goodbye Disney.

  339. Daejour

Please don’t make Micky Retirement WITHOUT MICKY MOUSE THE WORLDS WALT DISNEY WORLD WOULD NOT BE THE SAME

  340. Cody

Mickey Mouse will never ‘really’ be retired. He is the face of Disney. The mouse will live on!

  341. Please keep Mickey Mouse “ALIVE “ .I am 70 years old and I have watching him since I was a kid and now I’m am watching it with my youngest grandson who is 14 months old and he loves it. We watch it every day.

  342. Are you out of your mind. Mickey Mouse is Disney.

  343. Beth

I will not visit Disney again without Mickey. Without Mickey No Disney shame on you ..

  344. I agree with alot of you this needs to end now I do not want Mickey mouse to retire he has been an icon of Disney for years from his creation from Walt Elias Disney now to this bullshit of a a corporation to derail Disney’s beloved Mickey mouse whose with me to deliver an ass whooping to Disney and finally demand to refix the park and get justice for Walt Disney’s good name back where it belongs I won’t stand for this injustice let’s fight them back in a court of law and win back the rights for the park for we bleed Disney’s colors they do not bleed his colors but we do we make up Disney by our ethnicities and where we are from for we are Disney!!!!!!!!

  345. Millie Rodriguez

It all started with a mouse!
How dare they even consider retiring Mickey Mouse!
Before retiring Mickey, they should consider retiring some of those upper management, that are not worth their salary!

  346. Jackmeyhoffer

So will the new mascot be done kind of a gay, transgender, half human, half animal?

  347. No they won’t

  348. William Maceri

To even think about retiring Mickey is as wrong as actually letting it happen! And I know there are enough of us Boomers and our parents out there in the world that can’t allow that to happen. What’s next? Retiring the US flag? There are millions of us out there that grew up with icons like Mickey, Bugs Bunny, the Flintstones, the Road Runner and even George Burns and Gracie Allen. The ones
that we all turned to all of our lives for comfort, security. And yes everything that’s iconic of our lives, that can not and should not ever change. I have an actual true story that supports these facts and our feelings. In 1984, my oldest brother’s first child was born, and yes that makes her the first grandchild for mom and dad. Our parents were born in the early 1920s. Mickey and Minni Mouse soon became an expression of love, and an icon of being an American and living the great “American Dream” which my parents did to the fullest. They were truly models of the dream we all used in our lives. It was all perfect. Now back to 1984, as grandparents do, they lived to make their granddaughter’s life as iconic for her, and every bit for themselves. I had never seen them exhibit so much pride and purpose as they did from 1984, to the ends of their lives. Soon their house was filled with posters of Mickey and Minni, and all the memorabilia they could find. I was in my early 30s and up until then I never really understood how much those two mice meant to them, especially my dad. They used Mickey and Minni to express how happy they were, Mickey and Minni represented a time that was happy and saw the entire world ahead of them. My dad had a great career in the aerospace industry and my mom had it all, a beautiful family great friends a beautiful house in the San Fernando Valley and a huge Lincoln Town Car in the garage. Their fondness for Mickey and Minni was as cute as it could be and to think it was Mickey and Minni they used to express their happiness. From then on Mickey and Minni became much more important to me. And now, that he may be retired, I say that should never happen, and in my mind, it never will. Isn’t that the most adorable story you ever heard? It is to me, I could feel myself welling up just telling it to you all. They won’t take the Mouse away from me, that will never happen. But if it does, I will hold who ever is responsible as I do as the suits that are responsible for the 1973 oil crisis, and in my view, that was one of the worst things that ever happened to America. I’m not kidding!

  349. One of The Many Good Things About Toons, Is That They Never Age, and They Are Forever In Style, and In Our Hearts. Each New Generation Will Find Their Own Reasons to Love These Characters, and They Will Live Forever.

  350. Terry

Really? I think it is a bunch of BS. Mickey ain’t going anywhere and the Disney Channel ain’t either. And you all have been su kex into a rabbit hole.

  351. Royce Edwards

I think Disney could survive the loss of Mickey Mouse, what they can’t survive is all the movies they’ve been churning out that barely break even. You know things are getting bad when the company’s CEO talks about selling the entire company to Apple and Apple basically shrugs its shoulders.

  352. Chad

So it seems that disney has really shot their selves in the foot trying to throw their weight around in politics and sticking their nose where it didn’t belong. They should have just kept their mouth shut and continued making cartoons. Serves them right in my opinion.

  353. Disney has gone woke, that’s the problem, that’s why they’ve lost so much money, if they lose the mouse it won’t matter. The further woke they go the more money they’ll lose.

  354. BoneyBob

Don’t worry leftards. Disney is bringing Mickey back next month all spruced up and WOKE. He is going to be a violent black drug dealing rapper, non-binary, transgender lesbian. Now Mickey will really be a liberals wet dream. Congratulations leftards.

  355. Alan

For the past 50 years, Disney has been my passion. To think that the company would deep-six the very icon Walt built the company around is a slap in the face to Walt himself. I’m shocked and heart-broken. I’m sure that Walt is turning over in his grave. All I can say to the company’s board and CEO is I am totally ashamed of you….

  356. Mary March

NO PLEASE NO!!! I am obsessed with the character and have a collection just need a steam boat Willie

  357. I understand the copyright issue & the older versions of Mickey Mouse, but the current Mickey or Minnie is what connects kids to Disney. They would be crazy to totally get rid of Mickey or Minnie & alot of fans would get upset.

  358. Edward Deleon

This is because Disney has loss it’s values over the years. The company should focus more on the characters that shaped Disney from early beginnings. Keeping the Mouse and all his friends together. Placing some effort on keeping Mickey on the screen for every generation enjoy! Stop making movies that don’t make sense! Lack of movies with Mickey is Disneys fault. The executives need to revisit the company’s core and why Disney exist. Shame on Disney!

  359. Dora

DeSantis kills Mickey Mouse! That’s his legacy!

  360. Mike McConnell

The Cancel Culture claims another victim.
    Mickey Mouse.
    What’s next?
    Walt Disney?

  361. Lionel

However the Boneheads are that think
Retiring Mickey is gonna help the Disney Company has Turds for brains. Disney started having problems when they started supporting gays like they they are somebody special. The Big Majority of our Great County is Not gonna support such a abomination before God! That Stupid is why your seeing much shorter lines at the Disney parks. Go Ahead and do away with Mickey but get ready to put padlocks on the gates because that’s will stop what few are still coming.

  362. Ian

Disney is a grossly over-rated and over-priced corporate monopoly. I wouldn’t care one way or the other if the company collapsed and disappeared.

  363. Greg Jones

No, I believe Mickey Mouse should be, and is ageless. As they say, if it’s not broken, do not attempt to fix it. If I was Walt Disney, I would not do this.

  364. Mark

Disney has gone downhill for a couple decades now. Eliminating the spokesman Mickey is just another nail in their coffin.

  365. Melissa

Mickey mouse is timeless. We have a grandson who is close to 5 mos. Old and he is starting to pay attention to Mickey and his friends on Disney. Would be a shame to take it down.Any of them.

  366. Grandma

I think that Disney’s plan to retire MICKEY is disgraceful. He has brought and still does bring so much joy and happiness to children. I remember and I have a photo of my son, who is in his 40’s, with Mickey. The wonder, love, and happiness on his face is priceless. I am fortunate to have taken my grandchildren to Disney. I was blessed with the same response.Don’t take this away from them like you have taken away and changed so many things for the worse. Please don’t take away the innocence and pleasure from our children. They grow up fast enough as it is. Mickey and his friends are the foundation of America’s Childhood
    thank you

  367. Not to Worry,Guys I get to the bottom of this. I’m Tyler Bradley from the new Disney channel hit sitcom Sidekick Ryan and I hope it’s tough for you guys to see Mickey mouse But Not to Worry Will Help you guys get Him Back.

  368. Dottie Dernbach

Sad to say that we are not interested in all the Woke, Pride Month and transgender stuff being pushed in Disney World. Therefore, we have not renewed our passes.
Walt would be turning over in his grave with all this above-mentioned stuff. Disney used to be wholesome American Park. We miss that.

I think this whole thing really stinks. Take your wholeness Disney and shove it. Your main responsibilities that were left by Walt have gone to the wayside. Is er you suck and your whole admin. Just like the Biden Family. You need to ruin it for every child in the world. I hate hate hate the wholeness movement. Try it on Mars.

They will do a reimaginating of Mickey Mouse for the current generation and make him a they them and give bottom surgery for a curly tail! Of course the colors will have to change to brown and white. The voice will change too. Tradition must go!

  371. ArWood

I don’t know what is happening with Disney but if Mickey goes my family and I go too!

  372. H

It is so woefully obvious that almost no one actually reads the articles before commenting… “Disney has announced that the final episode of The Wonderful World of Mickey Mouse will air today”

This is about ONE version of Mickey in ONE show… calm down!

  373. Ark Bien

Disney lostthe copywriter to the first version of Mickey-AKA Steam Boat Willy. Disney still has the rights to the newer versions of him and isn’t retiring the character completely.

  374. Nico Darian

Goes to show the true face of the new disney, they mimic the past horribly, while destroying all that was good about it..deleting the pure experienced creative talent, and filling up with unexperienced talentless activists.. see how that going! Disney might aswell retire..

I believe mickey mouse should stay as long as kids are alive…
My mother, me, my daughter, son, and all their kids… we all love mickey.. we even still sing his tune. M I C K E Y mouse, mickey mouse. DISNEY will not be the same without him.

  376. Mary Ann

If there is no Mickey Mouse then there no magic and all that Walt Disney worked will be gone to waste…watched Mickey since in the 50’s and just was there in November..

  377. Jim Thompson

Disney would be dumb to get rid of Mickey Mouse. I’m pretty sure Walt Disney would roll over in his grave. Disney without Mickey would go down. Every little kid wants to meet Mickey Mouse or Minnie Mouse.

  378. MICKEY MOUSE IS DISNEY AND RETIRE HIM, I WILL NEVER GO TO ANY DISNEY PARK AGAIN OR BUY ANY DISNEY MERCHANDISE, I’M A BIG MICKEY MOUSE COLLECTOR AND MY COLLECTION WILL STOP NOW, MICKEY MOUSE IS THE MAIN MASCOT OF DISNEY, I DON’T KNOW WHAT YOU ARE THINKING, BUT YOU DO THAT, YOU WILL LOOSE A LOT OF MONEY FROM ALL THE MICKEY MOUSE FANS

  379. M. S.

Well, if he is retired, then so am I !! I am officially retired, and will no long support, watch, or purchase anything Disney, effective immediately!!

  380. Roy Miyaji

What’s going to happen at Disney Parks? The statues of Walt and Mickey, Mickey runaway railroad, Mickey ears and merchandise. It’s sad if all is removed. After all Disney was all started by a mouse.

  381. I am kind of disappointed and surprised that Mickey Mouse is quitting Disney because he was one of my favorite characters; especially since I went to Disneyland and Walt Disney World. I hope and pray that someone please let Mickey Mouse stay in the Disney industry.
