Man Jumps to His Death in Apparent Suicide at Disneyland

On November 15, inside the Pixar Pals parking garage at Disneyland Resort in California, a man leaped to his death in what the media is calling an apparent suicide. The report of the guest’ death confirms the earlier reports of various sections of Disneyland closing down for law enforcement to assess the situation.

Unfortunately, this is one of three tragic suicides that have occurred so far inside or around the exact location mentioned above. Since 2010, six people have died by suicide after jumping from the roof of the Disneyland parking garage. Three of these deaths have occurred since December 2022.

Here are some of the recent tragic deaths:
  • November 16, 2023: A man jumped to his death from the Pixar Pals parking structure.
  • February 2023: Marney Schoenfeld, 46, an Arizona woman, jumped from the Mickey and Friends structure.
  • December 2022: Christopher Christensen, an elementary school principal from Huntington Beach, jumped from the Mickey and Friends parking garage.

The Disneyland parking garage complex is where thousands of visitors enter and exit the Anaheim theme park resort daily.

In the post above, a Reddit user by the name of u/Cstr9nge posted a news article about the man who leaped to his death just a few days ago. What follows are comments by other guests mourning the news and engaging in a healthy discussion of the subject matter.

“That’s terrible. Hard to believe it’s the third time something like this happens within a year,’ said one guest named u/RockNRoll85. “That’s how these things go. Once people see that it can be done. They’ll keep doing. Same thing on the Lala land/suicide bridge in Pasadena. I wouldn’t doubt if they put some security features in the parking lot. This will definitely happen again if they don’t,” said u/cybernetvaultman.

One guest had asked if anyone was in the area when the incident occurred. Another guest responded with the following:

I was there! I had no idea it happened until I saw this post. I went to downtown Disney around 10:30pm and they had the walkway to the parking garage closed off with about 5-6 employees guarding the entrances. I was wondering what was going on. How sad :-/

Another guest who was heading back to their vehicle after a day inside the parks mentioned the following:

I just happened to walk by on the pedestrian bridge going back to the Pixar structure shortly after it happened. Had no idea what had occurred, just saw multiple police cars moving quickly down at the Magic Way entrance/exit as well as an SUV stopped with its hazard lights on. Had my husband not stopped to use the bathroom, we probably would have seen it happen…We are lucky and grateful to have not seen anything.
