Starting in 1974, my family and I have been long time fans of WDW, having visited from NYS 20+ times. We felt over the years that the added attractions and bigger venues made the price increases justified as we returned again and again. Our last visit was 2018, and since then the price jumps and multiple new pre-visit regulations and restrictions have turned it into a planning nightmare! I’m really not sure now if we’ll ever go back, as the magical sparkle has been quickly eliminated, one speck of pixie dust at a time.
I bring my own water bottle, i dont drink beer or any other hard stuff, i dont want to be a stumbling fool, im there to have a good time with my family
We agree the personal touch from Disney is gone I have been going yearly since it was open put stopped the past few years it is not the same they have ruined it for me ! I had so many good memories! And it is not the same bring back the old Disney which makes it guests feel special again !!
We too have been long time visitors since our honeymoon back in 1979 with over 50 visits over time. We have see a lot of change over the years and our last visit was back when the parks closed due to COVID ( we were the last people off property at Saratoga springs) and have not been back due to the crazy prices. And now with having to pay additional to ride some ride they have turn back time when you would get in cheaper at the gate and buy a book of tickets . .except they keep the gate price high AND charge for an E ticket ride. Just sad.
Yep. We have been going to WDW literally from the day they opened, had resident passes from the time they had resident passes and I remember going multiple times a year as a child and then as an adult. Until a couple years ago. I’ve gone from a Disney kid who seemed to be at Disney all the time, to a Disney adult who went all the time to a Disney adult that got tired of all the new BS and now doesn’t go at all. Whether I went with my family or visiting friends, we always dropped a ton of money at the parks and the resort, because even though we always lived only a couple hours south of Disney, we’d usually stay for a week at a time, at one of the onsite resorts and eat all our meals there either at the resorts or the parks. Spending $2500 h $3000 for a week was nothing. No more.
We saw everything starting to go downhill in 2019, then the plandemic crap, now all of the new regulations and outlandish prices………it’s pretty much killed our wanting to go to Disney any more.
It won’t be long before only the privileged 1% will be able to afford Disney. Corporate greed will inevitably (and eventually) be the end of Disney. It’s a shame. I wonder what Walt would say?
Have not been back to Disney since it went too far to left, which has been 2 years now. Am retired and cannot afford any more anyway. They went left. So I left them. Good bye forever you Pinko-Commie Socialist Morons. I am sure Walt has turned over in his grave.
LOL…..You sound like the snowflake. I’m not a DeSantis fan, but the guy is not a socialist. Disney…however…. Walt must be spinning in his grave. Nice try through…snowflake….
Disney has become a luxury brand. And that’s fine. This country was founded on capitalism, not making sure that everyone can afford luxury. If anyone has a problem with that, better compassion to the founding fathers.
Unfortunately the prices are the prices. The thing that has really wrecked the most magical place on earth is up charging. I grew up as a lower class family ,my parents saved and saved to being the family their and it was wonderful. We didn’t stay in the park because of the cost ,but that was fine. When it came to going to the parks I felt equal with the other people their .Once Inside the park everyone got two fast lane passes, their was no special passes for the rich people. This price changing per day when u have to book months and month early is sad to do to people ! Disney needs to honor price blocks at time of booking.and no additional fees to buy additional rides or fast passes . Make Disney Magical again let people scrap and save for their trips but make it fair for all .
I quit going to the park when the Rich could buy a ticket that took them up a much faster line. My granddaughter wondered why the other kids could get on before her and we had been in line 1st. Not fair and I don’t think Walt would have approved.
Honestly it’s a pretty good life lesson. Rich people can get things faster and easier. That’s just how our world works. Our country is founded on people who can’t afford healthcare because of so-called “Christian” politicians. So not being able to afford a luxury product is just another fact of life.
Walt would be ashamed at how much the prices are now. He wished everyone who wanted to go to be able to afford it. We were looking at a family trip there for 7, but no way can we afford it.
I have gone to Disney at least once (but many times more) annually for the past 30 years. We have always stayed on property and ate at park restaurants. My daughter was raised in it, and is a season pass holder now with her husband. But last year I had to back off due to expenses. So this year I went back but was shocked when I went for only one night Holiday Party, at the unreasonable prices at the hotel, transportation, and money grabbing park extras. Instead of a relaxing week, only went to a 4-hour Christmas Party for $175. The next day, I got free transportation (plus tip) for pickup that took me the competition. Spent the rest of the week there in a “park” hotel, admission into their two parks, and had a great time. Saved over $1000 in just four days. Disney has to be careful. When you lose a 30-year park goer you aren’t keeping your base.
The quality and upkeep of the parks and many attractions is no longer a priority. I am wondering if this is all part of their plan. Let’s face it, there are some people where money is of little concern at Disney. Likewise, they would be willing to look past many of the things that others would not. I always felt Disney was expensive but also felt a degree of value I was willing to pay for. I no longer feel that way. I really don’t want to give Disney any more of my money at this point because I feel they are financially raping most of us.
Disney is making it harder and harder for families to choose me to the parks. We can no longer afford it. There’s more important things to do for the amout it costs for Disney. Sorry Disney.
I live in Florida about an hour from Disney….I would love to take my granddaughter but…….it is way overpriced, and you can’t bring food or drink with you…..so no way would I spend my hard-earned money there….I work too hard just to pay rent….geez, give residents a much better rate…
Of course our governor has made everything overpriced, unreachable & very difficult…
I’m an annual pass holder. You can bring your own food and drinks into the parks. And the governor of Florida doesn’t have any control over Disney pricing. It’s Disney doing that. It’s a privately owned company doing business. They inflate their own prices as they see fit.
we take in pop or water bottles frozen every day we go to the parks, we also take food most of the time , its allowed……Things are over priced, maybe some people should look to washington instead of our govenor. Rent is horrid all over the country, houses are more expensive all over the country, gas is more expensive in most states, YES it is very expensive to live here, but better here than other states
Yes, you absolutely can bring food and drink with you. I personally don’t, but I know plenty of people who bring sandwiches and snacks, and refillable water bottles. If you don’t want to haul it around with you, rent a locker and go back for it when you’re ready to eat.
I just got back from a 2 week trip to Europe…stopped into Disneyland Paris…1 day parkhopper was $81…How can they charge that in France but more than double for a single park in the states?
I took my family to DW for the first time last December. It was the most expensive trip I’ve ever paid for. I’m still paying it off. I justify it in my head that it gave my kids an opportunity to experience something very special. However, because of the steep costs of literally everything on DW property, my kids will only be able to experience Disney magic that one time. There is no way I can ever afford to do that trip again. I think it’s a sad state of affairs when Disney, who has built themselves up as an institution of Americana, is more concerned about earning what feels like excessive profits rather than reasonable profits. It would be thousands of dollars cheaper to take my kids to Hawaii than it would be to take them back to DW. Feels illogical.
Just returned Nov 15 and it was our last visit. $5.95 for a soft drink, virtual que to get on some rides, genie plus for daily rides fast lane, have to order food from phone for grab and go, use phone to navigate park, and everyone walking around like zombies using phone for next adventure. No longer any fun for the money.
I think it’s amusing that so many people say they won’t go to Disney. I was at EPCOT a couple of weeks ago and it was packed. Lines everywhere. So, if you don’t want to go to Disney – don’t. Disney seems to be doing well without you.

It is truly a travesty that the heart of Walt Disney is now so far removed from the concept he began…a place, a respite, an experience that allowed visitors to escape reality for a few hours and embrace a fantasy, an adventure, a thrill, that brought simple joy! If you watch early clips of Disneyland’s admission lines, there were droves of children! That was Mr. Disney’s joy! As a single mom, we only ate one meal at the park. Part of the fun was making sandwiches and packing snacks for the day (They still let yiu bring in food). When my children were young, I couldn’t afford souvenirs and they knew not to ask!! Being there was the treat!! I live on the east coast now, and look forward to taking my grands to Disneyland, however will have to create a huge savings account! And we will pack sandwiches and drinks!
We love Disney, we visited Orlando in September and had to make the sad choice to forgo our expected trip to “ The Magic Kingdom “. It is sad that prices have become unaffordable. The very magical experience that Walt Disney sought to create for children and adults alike is out of reach for many. Our family of 5 purchased two-day tickets to Magic Kingdom. After converting the amount to CAD, it was just over $2k. We hadn’t been to WDW since before covid and the kids were beyond excited. We got our daughter a reservation for Tron first thing in the morning but received a message at 9pm saying that her reservation number would not come up by the time the park closed. This experience was so very different from our last visit precovid. Our oldest daughter was disappointed as our visit wasnt as magical as she remembered. The entire day seemed like a huge waste of time and money. While our 2nd day was somewhat better, the entire experience felt as though we paid all that money and got nothing for it. I am a huge fan of Disney and have visited Disneyland, CA adventure, WDW, Disney cruise, etc. However, with their continued price increases and ridiculous limitations on reserving visits or ride virtual line placement, I would LOVE to see us all protest and strike against them by NOT visiting any park or cruise for 1 year. If we could all do this for 1 year, they’ll see how valuable their customers are and reconsider prices and continued inflation.
Just had to laugh. People feel VIOLATED? Grow up already. Those who shun the place simply because of politics also worth a laugh. And keep out these so called Disney Adults who clog the place up.
