So where the news? This is ancient history. I wasted time reading an old post from 2022. Give me a break and don’t waste my time.

    1. JamesB

No doubt, I scrolled back to the top to see when this was posted.

      1. PjPj

        I did the same.

    2. Brad

      Agreed

  2. Chris

I miss Michael Eisner…to be completely honest…a more innocent time in Disney history.

    1. Debra

They most definitely need to change something up. Just took my family to Florida and went to Disney again for the umpteenth time. This time however was an awful experience. We spent a boatload of money and when it came time for fireworks we were treated like cattle just to try to see the fireworks. People were falling, trampled, staff threatened to call Park security and have people ejected just because they don’t have their crap together. I won’t come back to Disney with my children or my grandchildren. I’d rather go to Universal. More bang for the buck anyway anymore. Disney ought to be ashamed of themselves!

      1. Mary

        Agreed!!

      2. Brian Wood

As the old adage goes. “A sucker is born every minute”!

We are DVC members and travel to Disney 4 times a year and I tell myself everytime we go that the Disney magic just is not there anymore. Disney used to go out of their way to satisfy their customers. While some cast members still go out their way to put a smile on your face, I fell the majority of them just dont have that Disney charm anymore. Prices are outrageous for rooms and food. Perks are being taken away left and right. We were just the for a 4 day weekend this week and 3 of those day they closed the MK at 6 pm for the Christmas party which is a ticketed event for well north of $100. I can see having it once a week but multiple times a week is just getting greedy. The poor people who are down there for a whole week and MK could close early possibly 4 times. At least lower ticket prices on those days of the Christmas parties. They are still charging $165 for the day and you get no fireworks and must be out at 6.. completly unethical

      1. Paul W

If you don’t prepare for your trip by checking park hours on the days you will be there, that’s only your fault. Even in Eiser days I would do that simple thing to make sure I’d know how late I should sleep and good times to eat dinner.

    4. Denise

Honestly how did we get here. Disney was always for kids. Who doesn’t like Micky Mouse. I just don’t get it. Everybody is different. Who cares?

      1. Rery Ro

Wrong. Walt Disney said many times that Disneyland was built specifically for both kids and adults. The whole purpose of it was to provide a place where parents could enjoy the park and not just be spectators while their kids had fun.

    5. Mary

      👍👍👍👍

Definitely Iger over Chapek. I’m happy Iger is back, but unfortunately he had a major mess from the “Chapek Catastrophe” to deal with. We’re behind you Bob Iger…continue to bring back the MAGIC!!

    1. AH

Most of what Chapek did (Genie, ect) was planned by Iger. Chapek did really mess up by keeping Kathleen Kennedy as ceo of Lucas film. Constantly saying that the Parent Rights in Education law is controversial does not make it so.

      1. Rery Ro

You’re arguing with that premise. That’s the very definition of controversial. Oh, the irony…

  4. James Smith

    Huh

    1. Eddy

It is also the Workers Union that demands a “high living wedge”. That is why the entrance cost is high

      1. Rery Ro

But they need that wedge to get a higher wage.

  5. Glenn h

Disney sadly has became theme park for the rich.
The average Joe can not afford a disney vacation. I am an average Joe and have not gone to a Disney park when they first started charging to park your car at a Disney hotel.

    1. Janet S.

Capitalism is what built our country! A private business isn’t obligated to give gifts or services away at any price lower than what people will pay. Demand for park experiences remains high, and profits are booming for the parks divisions.

Disney has become a luxury brand experience, and that’s simply the way things work.

      1. Ironbob

And as a result, Disney stock is crashing.

    2. Dodger

It’s time someone told you…they’re not charging to park at hotels anymore. Iger ended that earlier this year.

      1. Ed

First, Iger is the one who started charging for parking at the hotels. And Genie was his idea. So he eliminated the parking fee but raised the prices on everything else so the blind wouldn’t notice.

  6. Karen

Never got to go to any Disney theme park, but I always loved Disney movies, books, all brought to a magical life especially as a child. Stand tall and proud Walt Disney, you made a lot of families smile, laugh and no one can take the memories away. Keep making the majik and memories😁💕

    1. John C

Disney is really an amazing place especially Disney World in Orlando. I hope this woke nonsense stops and they can lower prices somewhat it definitely is expensive but worth it!

  7. Ann

    What?

  8. Alexandra Clarke

    You Misspelled Michael Eisner
    Typo Michale Eisner

    I Love Disney💟💟💟💟💟💟

    1. Judy

Lots of mistakes in this piece…who chose to publish this???

      1. Rery Ro

Yeah, I especially liked “One year ago, on November 20, 2023, The Walt Disney Company publicly…” So, was this written next year, in 2024? Should I wait until then to read it? And if I read it now, will I be changing the future? Oh how I hate time paradoxes – they’re so confusing!

  9. Terry Cole

Bob Iger’s return to the Disney Company was a disaster. How could someone who was so suited for the job suddenly become the one of the worst mistakes the company has ever made?

Yes, there has been lots of change all around, but we all thought Iger was being brought back to right the ship after Chapek’s disastrous tenure in the position.

    “Paging Mr.Eisner, Mr. Michael Eisner…”

    1. Johnno

      What mistake?

  10. Tom

    I think there’s a typo here. This is 20:23.
“One year ago, on November 20, 2023, The Walt Disney Company publicly revealed.. ”

    But

  11. Tom

    I think there’s a typo here. This is 20:23.
“One year ago, on November 20, 2023, The Walt Disney Company publicly revealed.. “

    1. Rery Ro

“20:23”??? So now it’s eight twenty-three in the evening? I thought it was bad enough that they were writing this piece in the future…

  12. Bob

How is the succession plan going?

  13. Carlos Caceres

Iger is the worst CEO ever and is steadily destroying Disney

  14. Norm Hoag

Bob Iger should have been fired the second he said that they shouldn’t negotiate until the actors started losing their houses .

    1. Johnno

Why would a corporate Board fire a CEO for taking a hardline corporate stance??

  15. Mq

I think they would be a lot more successful if they didn’t out a price tag on everything. So many people would love to give their children that experience and can’t because of how expensive it is. Shame on them.

  16. Roberto (Robbie) Guerrero III

I TOSS MY BID FOR CEO. ROBBIE GUERRERO: DISNEY CEO.

  17. Rhonda Frost

It’s a good thing. Walt Disney would roll over in his grave the way they are changing the fiber of his characters!

  18. Stephen

This is the first trip we’ve not done Disney. Simply put I cannot tolerate the sheer greed of the company. We have so many happy memories of our kids growing up at the parks. Now with grandkids we fully expected to do the same with them. Out of principle I cannot go back until they stop treating people like sheep and bring back the magic that is now sadly lacking

  19. N

    Typos!!!!

  20. Mark

As the story was told but business forget. You run a business for business. Stay out of politics and social issues and religion and just do what you’re there for. That’s it.

  21. Martin

I started reading this thinking they fired Iger and they were giving a back story of another time this happened.

  22. Steve

Out with the WOKE. In with the new…hopefully

  23. Raffy

“One year ago, on November 20, 2023”

that seems like it was just 2 days ago, times sure does fly by

    1. Anon

      And 3 years ago was 2022. 😉

  24. richard

    DISNEY IS NOTHING BUT
    MONEY GRUBBING
    PRICE GOUGING
    EXTORTING
    CORPORATION
when Walt Disney himself ran the show everyone was happy
    since then……nothing …
DISNEY NEEDS TO FADE AWAY AND NEVER RETURN

  25. Glenda Gospodarek

Both Bob’s can go. Stop the woke! I have been to Disney mega times and use love it. But so much has been taken way plus rides breaking down, deluxe hotels looking worn….magic not there. Overall it’s not top notch anymore. Disney standards are poor. And prices outrageous. We will be looking for a new vacation spot next year. It’s so sad, Walt would not like what is happening.

  26. ETE

Disney Parks are now just to expensive. Period…
Only the rich can have a really good time… because they’ve priced out their biggest customer…The Middle Class… what’s left of it.

  27. Parzival

Hire me! Simpleton with dyxlexia, can explain what your missing and how to correct it instantaneously! It’s so simple.

Florida’s incredibly controversial Parental Rights in Education Act? Have you actually read the act or just parroting what the mainstream media keeps saying? So it is controversial to not allow gender conversations in the class rooms for kindergarten to third grade students?? Disney way over stepped and is now paying the price.

  30. Rob

They didn’t even mention how much people resent Disney politics pushing sex and Wokism on the children.

  31. Td

My daughter worked at Disney from January to May and it was a great experience for her. It is sad that leadership feels the need to insert themselves into politics that they have no business involving themselves in. It will ultimately be their downfall. Next CEO should make it clear that they are a park for everyone.

  32. Tom Mariner

We are tired of our private corporations preaching the current Democrat campaign slogans. Leave the DEI and “Teaching Equity” to our military where all it will do is cause disasters like Afghanistan and Ukraine, not something important like the essential Walt Disney World.

  33. Ben

Doesn’t matter…Disney still sucks with paying more for a less than Magical time! Making reservations for rides and then you are put on a 4pm reservation…only to be told that you cannot make another reservation until the first reservation is complete! No sir, BRING BACK A LESS COMPLICATED FASTPASS!!! Disney employees had to take a two day class just to understand the Genie+ that Doesn’t benefit the consumer but surely benefits the pockets of Disney!

  34. OSCAR

Bob chapek and Iger were there to destroy the company including share holders, employees and families and take billions of dollars pension is the fact. Is very sad.
    Missing Michael Eisner

    We Missed Michael Eisner.

  36. Jacob Allen

The company needs a good CEO who will make everybody happy, and keep the Disney magic up and flowing, and get us box office successes, even in re-releases and such.

  37. Rery Ro

It’s a con to get more advertiser money with the same old rehashed content.

  38. Boris

    This is news?

  39. Steven

I never cared for Chapek. But I was always under the impression that Iger knew what was coming with Covid and such placing Chapek there as a scapegoat. Iger has invested to much to let it all fall apart on his watch. But I will say this; I’ve worked here for 35 years, this is not the company I hired into anymore.

  40. Kristina

I think both of them should go Disney has lost there way They need to find someone that’s is family oriented and loves Disney and bring that feeling back prices are to high and food is to much they have taken a lot away and we are paying more for less it isn’t about how much money you can make Walt also said if was for everyone Well it isn’t anymore He would be very upset the way things are now please bring back some that cares like Walt did

  41. Christine

I think whoever fired Jonny Depp should be out. And the new CEO should have apologized to John Depp and rehired him for the pirates of Caribbean movie and fixed all the issues with nasty governor

“One year ago, on November 20, 2023”

11/20/2023 was not one year ago. It either happened in 2022, (which isn’t news), or last week (which means you can’t write).
