    Leadership needs an overhaul.

When the cost to make and promote, the vast majority of movies need to gross in the 800 million to 1 billion range to break even due to the theater chains take. By some calculations Disney has lost well over 1 billion on the bombs it has released. A lot of things need to change in the company.

  3. Disney needs to focus on its self. Iger should sell ESPN and make up the default with that sale. Then rehire those who got laid off. Disney should just be itself. I grew up next to Disneyland. Both of us were born in 1955. Keep it simple all Disney

I think the long strikes this year played a huge role in industry wide slower box office. When so much of your audience barely sees your ads, not having the stars hyping up their latest projects and not having ET, TMZ, and hundreds of talk shows generating buzz is a huge loss. Since the art of movie trailers had been most and now you risk seeing the entire plot of the movie, I tend to catch the initial teaser and that’s it. A year or so later when the film is hitting theaters there would be clips from Tonight Show interviews to remind me. With so many movies hitting theaters, you pretty much have 1 maybe 2 weeks to see it on the biggest screens before something newer bumps any film to the smaller screens. At that point, I’d rather just wait a month or few and just watch it at home, where nobody is on their phone or talking to the screen.

Totally agree on the short time you actually have to get to the theater to see a movie before it’s gone. I remember when you had at least two months to get to the theater. Now, you only have about three weeks before they theaters are on to the next shiny, new object.

I wanted Wish to do well. I saw it and enjoyed it, but the critics online, especially YouTube, are killing it. I disagree with them. I guess people just can’t enjoy simple stories anymore.
