Seems to me that Gov Desantis like Donald Trump is wanting to be a Dictatorship. Likewise he seems to think that everyone must do things ” his way or no way”.

    1. Janet S.

He doesn’t believe in a free America, unless you sure with him and are willing to kiss his high heeled boots.

      1. Sonia Walsh

But the writing was on the wall what kind of person and so called Governor he would be, but ppl still voted him right in… TWICE!! Good grief folks. Pay attention, research the ppl you are voting for. Don’t just follow the crowd?! Think. Be smart.

        1. Janet S

YES! It’s amazing how many people voted for a socialist who believes the government should control business and restrict education so that they can control the public!

    2. Mickey Mouse

Love it. Wish they had raised it 75%. Also in order to live in this area you must be an employee of Disney or related to someone who does. You see Disney doesn’t let just anyone live there. You must have a certain privilege to live there. Oh and now the homeowners will actually have to pay property taxes to the state and local government. What a shame they be treat like the rest of us.

      1. Rroe

NOT True……Disney residential development “Golden Oaks” has people from all over the United States buying property there and building homes. Please do your reserch before posting comments like this.

      2. Dave

I have a friend who lives there and has nothing to do with Disney. He never asked their permission to buy the house and Disney was not involved in the process.

      3. Cheesy Floridian

I read in the past they were going to lower the property taxes but now they are going to raise them? And who pays the most taxes? Disney. This board is horrible. They need to go. Along with DeSantis. I really hope Disney wins.

Most of the subdivisions situated around the WDW properties, such as Celebration, were built to be employee housing, but after realization that plan was scrapped when the company and managing authorities found that most employees could not afford the homes available for sale or rent. Celebrations starting price was in the half million range and up. The homes and apartments in the subdivisions north on Disney property just outside the Magic Kingdom employees are and Disney University are similar in price to many in the Orlando area and open for sale or rent to anyone. IDK if a Disney employee gets a rate incentive but would doubt it.

I believe there is only one subdivision which is intended for the Disney execs which is close to the Four Seasons, but that would be it and it probably isn’t exclusive because an occupied home beats having to pay the taxes while it sits empty. This is not something a wise business, like Disney would do.

Small price to level the playing field

        1. Janet S

You mean punishing innocent, hardworking taxpayers because a politician holds a grudge against a company is a small price? I disagree. DeSantis should not be crushing Floridians under his high heeled boots just to become President.

    3. Bill Stewart

Seems to me that Disney wanted to dictate to Floridians that schools should teach 3rd graders about LGTBQXYZ lifestyles. Glad DeSantis stopped them.

      1. Marvin

You live in your own little Q world, don’t you?

        1. Sharon

Yup. All I want for Christmas is him to disappear from tv drop out of race😃 Casey won’t be happy if. Go away Ron. Leave Disney alone. Yes area residents are getting slammed with taxes., but we are all paying legal fees for him to have a temper tantrum. Go away Ron, PLEASE

      2. Janet S.

Nope, but this is what DeSantis wants you to believe. Disney just wants children to feel that suicide isn’t the way out of being different. But now that kids can’t understand why they’re different, the governor should be happy that they are killing themselves!

      3. Foo

Bill Stewart is lying. Another lying troll.

  2. John Rock

I don’t know how government works in this case, so I can’t comment on all the fees and taxes, but politically this is non-sensical. DeSantis appears reactionary, with no vision.

    1. Janet S.

Unfortunately the rubber stamp legislature didn’t even care that it was a poorly thought out decision. They simply capitulated to the whims of a political snowflake who got his feelings hurt by a mouse.

  3. Janet S.

YES! Where’s all the additional coverage on their shady plans and backroom deals?!

  4. Janet S.

Figures. The newly installed board only cares about its kickbacks and shady deals. Yet another example of the political elite punishing Floridian taxpayers to get back at a business that created central Florida tourism.

Our country was founded on Capitalism, not Socialism the way our governor seems to believe.

  5. Ruben Velez

You get what you voted for. I did not voted for him I saw him for what he its a crocket politician

    1. Janet S.

      You had a good eye!

  6. Richard Yood

Anytime you put a bunch of political hacks in charge of the cash register you’re going to get this kind of chicanery! IMHO that bunch of bandits couldn’t run a convenience store!

    1. Janet S.

      Apparently not!

  7. Kobina

Voting out and keeping this madness out permanently is the only way..

  8. Kobina

On the other hand GOP red either stays red or maybe purple for a change.. One thing for sure 100% RED GOP has to go permanently..

    1. Marie

Move back to NY. Not a DeSantis fan, but keep your northern politics up north.

      1. Rick

The GOP are dramatically violating the Constitution’s first amendment that they claim to worship. They are being utter hypocrites that think nothing of sticking their constituents with worse outcomes all around. And this is your knee-jerk response.

        Bless your ignorant little heart.

        1. Janet S.

The GOP supports communism when it suits them it seems ..

  9. Gfdsa@yahoo.com

    Love this! Thanks DeSantis

    1. Janet S

Yep! Thanks be to put Lord and Savior DeSantis. Thanks for crushing innocent Floridians to get ahead. Thanks for creating socialism in what was our beautiful and free state of Florida. And thanks for ignoring all of the actual needs of our people while you’re focusing on a childish grudge.

  10. Puddin Poo

Good. These morons voted for DeSantis, let them foot the bill for his actions.

  11. Rob

Lots of noise in this Disney echo chamber. Disney needs to get out of politics, sell off their corrupt media companies, and get back to what made them successful: family entertainment without sex or violence.

    1. Rroe

Definitely agree…..Politics and Religion does not belong in situations like this that Disney is running. Let’s keep both of these out of the entertainment industry….it’s ruining our country.

      1. Rick

How about that Constitution, huh? The first amendment is a really great thing, isn’t it? The best part is it’s not just for people you agree with.

      2. Das

Religeon doesn’t belong in government or public education too. If it wasn’t there, this with Disney would be a non-issue! Plus there’s an amendment Gainst it, as the ti.e the constitution was wrote the state religion dictated to the the kings and queens

      3. Lin

        HE IS RUINING OUR STATE!!
Silly me. I thought capitalism kept politics out of private corporations. Isn’t that Communism?

    2. John Husler

      Agree!!

  12. Rob

It’s wonderful how ALL of these comments are supportive of Disney and belittle DeSantis. I really enjoy knowing I can come here for the truth and won’t have to be bothered by those horrible DeSantis supporters.

    1. Janet S

Well, there has to be somewhere for people to speak the truth. Hopefully DeSantis and his Socialism won’t penetrate everywhere…

  13. Marie

Good. Maybe all these developments will end, developers will leave and Florida can focus on tourism again instead of dealing with transplants and developers destroying our state

    1. Rick

Wow have you not been paying attention.

The Florida tourist industry was created and driven by Disney.

Enjoy driving the car you just got rid of.

  14. Lee

The wind burned her a little bit in the pool.
