DeSantis is the one that needs to go away. What Governor anywhere would work so hard to publicly be at odds with the largest employer, revenue generator and attraction in their state. Instead of a 50+ year love affair between WDW and Florida, DeSantis has destroyed that relationship and Disney will be taking their future developements to other states, all because of his ego. What right did he have to do that? It was self appointed. He is as close to a dictator as you can get in the US. Want to know how he’d be as President? Look how he’s been as a Governor.

    1. AH

You obviously do not know the whole story.

      1. K

So you think the Government should be allowed to retaliate over free speech? Wow, dictator says what?

      2. Sound off

His wife’s cancer did more for Florida then he did.

      3. Dodger

I know the whole story, and I still agree with Jo.

Meantime, back in the real world, Florida is one of the fastest growing states in the country. South Park just did a great show Kathleen kennedy’s incompetent leadership of Disney. Her ranting, histerical response to the South Park episode is disturbing.

      1. K

They only are growing so fast because of retirees, and low taxes rates. But here’s the problem, that isn’t sustainable. You can either have rapid growth, or sustained growth. You can’t have both. What happens when the Florida State Government runs out of money? They already take a lot of federal funds (fun fact:red states are the biggest taker of Fed funds, while Blue states are the biggest givers. So basically Blue States subsides Red States. Kentucky being the biggest taker.).

    3. SharonP

You have said it all. It is almost as if you are in my head…lol I too believe that DictatorSantis needs to be reined in until we can get him out! And if heaven forbid he becomes President the whole country will be in jeopardy!

    4. Mar

Totally agree, DeSantis has to go. Because of Disney’s revenue, Floridians do not pay State Taxes. What is wrong with this man. We all have benefited from Disney for 50 years in one way or another.

    5. Jerry mark

He should have left Disney alone.
      Big mistake.

  2. Bill

Thought they worked for Disney. Shocked to find out otherwise.

    1. Angalina Jackson

He needs to leave them alone. He’s gotten to big for his britches. Gov. Not dictator

  3. Matt

Disneys catering to woke ideology was not acceptable to parents. That’s the bottom line.

  4. Ingrid

The “great Ron lol” the know it all. Hoping people wake up and smell the stink of this other wanna be dictator. Disney didn’t grease his hand like all the big businesses. All the money and gifts, he has received. Why is he not being investigated???

    1. AH

      Obviously you are clueless.

    2. Mike

I agree with everything you said with one exception. Pritzer’s first name is not Ron.

  5. Robert landon

Wow don’t let the hit you in the ass on the way out

  6. Yep

I don’t think Disney world should exist anymore. Every county dump in the entire state has become a mountain.

  7. Disney Magic

Disney, in their arrogance, brought this on themselves. When a company is in the entertainment industry its best to keep its nose out of political issues but Disney has arrogantly embraced the evil work society and they are paying a price for it. I think the state of Florida has done Disney a service to try to get them to focus on what their purpose is and that is to entertain the masses with their magic and stay away from issues that offend many families. If they continue down this path their pixie dust will disappear.

    1. AH

      Very True.

    2. Bren

So they are not allowed their first amendment rights???? But evidently you are???? The actions of this governor is straight out retaliation because a company did not kiss his butt, and instead voiced their opinion which is a constitutional right. So guess we should abolish the constitution, change the rules so everyone has to think the same, may only speak the idealogy of the select few???? Reminds me of a past time in the world’s dark history, but for some reason too many people are fine letting it repeat. Until it happens to them, then they will be fuming, crying foul. Some of you really need to pick up a history book, not an educationally approved by your governor history book either, and learn the true world history. Heck, maybe even really read the constitution, and some true US history.

    3. Tom

      Agree

    4. T

When you say stuff like that you’re basically admitting that Disney is in the right with their lawsuit and that this is really about punishing Disney for their political beliefs and not actually about special districts or taxes.

  8. Wow. Not a bit unbiased, huh? So a few state employees are leaving because they don’t like the new rules. Boo hoo. 350 years of experience? Sounds like retirees. 10 employees with around 30 years experience and probably sat around doing nothing on the state’s dime and now have new administration that doesn’t kiss their butts and instead expect them to work so they quit. End of story.

    1. Sherry

DeSantis has to go, how many people have to say this until it happens. He’s a loser

  9. Ralph

To quote Will Smith from Men In Black.

“Don’t start nothing, won’t be nothing.”

Disney decided to get political, and now they don’t like the game because DeSantis plays it better.

Suck it up buttercup. Stick to movies, and theme parks, and stay out of politics. You don’t do it very well.

    1. Andrea

I think DeSantis should just govern FLORIDA and stay out of Disney . . Disney is hanging itself with the Woke bull. And not taking care of their workers properly by pay, health benefits, and better hours. They even took away the benefits that DVC members had, and their ticket prices and special holiday tickets, are outrageous! Their are no more family values as we all grew up on. So DeSantis mind your business and let Iger bury Disney and the Low life’s that visit the parks and cause problems.

      1. Yes they were both wrong. Disney needs to focus on Walt’s original vision. They have lost their imaginations to create new movies. Need to stay out of politics. Governor needs to keep his promise to Florida and stay in his job as Governor not trying to move to President.

    2. Cheesy Floridian

The whole point of our constitution is and especially our First Amendment Right is to be able to have conversations and discussions about the laws and the people who are elected into office. Disney and everyone else on this thread and in the USA has a right to disagree or approve of the laws in this country. All Disney did was make a statement and you know what, the law still passed. But DeSantis took it to far and attacked Disney. That is unamerican and so is your comment.

  10. Ohhdear

Obviously the author knows next to nothing about the so-called “Don’t say gay” legislation and its protections of children. Disney’s increasingly woke and pro-gay ideology should be seriously rethought in light of its future financial success. Business should be neutral. DeSantis was right in defanging Disney.

    1. Cheesy Floridian

Obviously you are very one side in your thinking and comment and if your freedom of speech was stomped on and things were taken away from you I highly doubt you would feel the same.

    2. Mark OdeBeast

Poor little guy, Ronnie wants to be president so badly and no one will take him seriously.

    3. Dodger

“Business should be neutral.” Okay, got it. Let’s remove all references to Christmas from Disney parks. There’s nothing neutral about being pro-Christian. Also, remove any heterosexual imagery that shows Disney characters kissing. That goes for Mickey and Minnie, and all Disney princesses. Parents should get to decide if their children see kissing between fictional characters, especially animals, but instead Disney is shoving it in their faces without consent. If you’re gonna be neutral, don’t be half-ass about it.

    4. Rob

And it’s really disturbing that by protecting children, out of the blue Disney chose to label it “don’t say gay”. The bill had nothing to do with the gay folks and yet here we are.

Disney has had shelter too long from “paying their fair share.”

      No longer family friendly.

Once a company enters into politics and choose sides they loose at least 1/2 of their patrons.

Regular folks are tired of fringe elements shoving agendas at us.

Plenty to take your family to other than Disney – they lost their innocence.

  12. marie

Desantis needs to take a extended vacation in Gaza, Iran or somewhere like that and never some back. When I lived in Florida, I was at Disney at least 1 weekend a month and never had any problems. Now you have to reserve days if you want to visit. I loved Disney and have so many wonderful memories of being there with my son and grand-daughter.

    1. Tom

You are out of you mind.

The whole point of Democracy is for people to have discussions and be involved in politics. Wasn’t Disney donating and even donated to DeSantis? Isn’t that getting involved in politics? But because they used their right to speak their mind they get punished? When did Florida become apart of Russia?

    2. Dodger

I’d ask you to define what you mean by “regular folks” and “fringe elements,” but I have a pretty good hunch I already know. Have a seat, Fox breath. Book readers are trying to have a mature discussion. Take your own advice and visit as many non-Disney parks as you like. We truly won’t mind.

  14. Cheesy Floridian

I think its telling that people that have work there for years are leaving because of the changes the state and DeSantis has made. It’s telling what they said in their exit interviews and why they were leaving.

  15. Deb

What private company has the right to not comply with the rules, zoing , and compliance every other citizen must follow. It’s why we have a corportocity imploding within our country.

    1. Dodger

Since you asked, here’s the answer: A private company that arranges with the state to have its own self-governing district in order to take the burden off taxpayers. Feel free to make Google your friend and learn more about it. Now riddle me THIS: Why does a private company in this country have no right to free speech without the risk of being penalized by government? It’s why we have democracy imploding within our country.

  16. KMAN

Disney has far more Problems than having to PAY THEIR FAIR SHARE and losing there Self Governance. Although Disney and all its supporters should be ecstatic about this as they’re more online with Equality in Business.
Disney Biggest issue is a Hostile Takeover for the man they Fired as CEO of MCO as he was to conservative and did not align with their new Business Ideology . Disney gave him 600 million shares of Disney to leave now that Disney Stocks are at a all time low
    Isaac “Ike” Perlmutter
Now controls 2.5 billion shares enough to shake up DISNEY and the SHAREHOLDERS .
As for the State employees that quit , that actually did the state a favour the term is called
    “ Trimming the Fat “
Several redundant positions along with worker that don’t pull their own weight. As for the rest of the position there are a 10 people per open position to fill them . No matter how valuable people think they are anyone can be replaced quickly. Not kid yourself.

  17. Rob

Parents don’t want freaks around their children. Disney should have the same mindset. As with the governor, Disney should not want sexual predators in schools. So disappointed Disney don’t agree with this. Disney caters to families with children. Keeping sexual predators away from children should be of utmost importance to Disney.

    1. Dodger

How does this even remotely relate to the legislation in question? It sounds like you didn’t actually read the bill. Please show proof that Disney wants sexual predators in schools. Step away from social media, turn off Fox News and try some critical thinking for a change.
