What DeSantis and his gang of political thugs in the Florida Legislature is trying to do is appalling. Weaponizing the government to trample on the free speech rights of some who disagree with them. It’s more political theater from the Ron for President campaign. Thankfully that effort is sinking like a stone.

    1. Ann

      Agree100%

    2. DeSantis was a candidate l had planned on voting for as President! But seeing his vindictiveness to Disney NO WAY WOULD I VOTE FOR HIM NOW AS MOST OF MY FRIENDS AGREE !

    3. Pete

      Too funny😂

    4. louise conklin

I know of many states that would love Disney to move to……who wants to be bullied by a want to be dictator

  2. Sue

Good give them gel Ron desantis. I hope they move out of here and do this crap in another state preferably a democratic state

    1. Shane

Disney World brings in around 19 billion dollars to Florida’s economy every year.

Imagine thinking it’s a good idea to essentially try and cripple the states economy and tourist industry.

    2. Betty

Stupid comment. Disney is happiness and joy for so many children and families. DeStan is the devil incarnate.

    3. Janice

Realize how much Disney brings to the state of Florida correct so I think any state would take Disneyland as a employer. And yes I Live in Illinois a Blue state and damn It I’ll take Disney any day

  3. Joe F

Disney should have stayed out of politics. Their politics do not align with all their fans and park goers. They need to learn what their responsibilities are and stop crossing lanes

  4. Jim

DeSantis is evil and has to go. He represents the worst of our state. Brags about surplus while holding back needy programs for his people. Plays games with immigrants while farms in the state are closing due to lack of labor. Improperly protects the environment while enriching some with the money intended to fix the environment. Appoints far right wing groups to ban books that include things like how to make dumplings, how to make frybread, and well known classics. Fines schools for protecting their children. Sends back a right wing gerrymandering plan because it did not gerrymander enough. Just an awful person and a horrible governor.

    1. XWingKC

Well stated. Thank you. I agree.

    2. Lynn

      Totally agree!!

    3. Marie A Connolly

Agree 100%… DeSantis needs to go. His run for President should tell him something, Floridians & American people agree he is a buffoon & petty person….please crawl back into your hole

    4. Lewis Winokur

Well said! DeSantis is a disgrace to our wonderful state. Hopefully he loses any further elections in Florida and moves out of here.

    5. Betty

Totally agree. DeSatan is the worst. He can’t win the presidency, thank God. But he need to be taken out of Florida politics. He is dangerous.

    6. Triny

The only way to get eid of him???….the representatives of each county that give this fool a super majority will also need to go. The small election do matter, and what’s happening in our state is proof of that.

  5. ALG

    Nope.

  6. Why is it taking so long for the court to move forward? I for one am getting exhausted reading the same old update.

    1. Cynthia Binder

Treaty yes 50 plus years ago. Government personnel void the treaty .free speech is a bill of right.

  7. Randall

I think Ron is being Childish and this is retaliation for them speaking out! Ronnie had my vote NOT NOW ! What happens if he gets to the White House and I’ll this kinda stunt with another country? Go Haley

  8. Carol

I’m at the point right now to switch my trips to Orlando to Universal and Sea World and forget Disney. There prices for EVERYTHING has gone up to the point a family of 4 can’t afford it anymore.
    Sorry Disney!

    1. I looked it up. As of today, 1 day ticket to Magic Kingdom $109 and 1 day ticket to Universal Orlando $109. Remarkable.

    2. Phil

You certainly have a right to vote with your wallet. Disney has become expensive. So has everything. Having to spend a great deal of money to litigate to protect its rights against an authoritarian governor is just one more reason Disney needs to make money. Hopefully, in time, Disney will find a way to lower prices and improve the Disney experience so it resembles what it once was. But, don’t realistically expect prices to ever return to the good old days.

    3. Triny

Disney is still cheaper than Universal. You might want to rethink that.

  9. Warner robackerw3408@gmail.com

I can’t believe that people follow that the so called governor…why is doing this to Disney?the best thing for Disney is to move out of Florida and then let’s see what the governor would do with an est.70000 people out of work because his feelings got hurt…..

  10. Ann

Get Government out of private businesses and corporations. DeSantis has no right to inflict power restrictions over a private corp. Especially one that pays Florida millions in tourism tax dollars. Disney is Joy for the world. DeSantis is bad.

    1. KMAN

Ann , read what you just wrote “ Keep Government out of Private Business “
But Disney Decided to intervene in Government Business so Disney opened that door for Government scrutiny.
You can’t have it both ways .

      1. XWingKC

So you are in favor of no free speech? Because that’s all this was. Words.

      2. Deborah

That’s not business intervening in politics. Had they let’s say, threatened their employees to vote against the bill or even voice their disapproval against the bill, that would be one thing. Instead a person at Disney spoke out against the bill and others agreed. We are all entitled to our own opinions and should not fear retaliation from the government when we do so. Many others enjoy the same benefits as Disney yet only Disney was targeted.
The governor’s act was in retaliation.

      3. Norm

Disney has every right to voice their opinion, just like every other citizen. And to the people who say that a corporation should stay out of politics, then politicians should quit hitting up corporations or Super Pac’s for campaign donations.

      4. Phil

Why does Disney have less right than you do under the First Amendment to voice its opinion on a matter affecting its guests and employees? The Supreme Court has ruled that corporations have the same rights as people to voice a political opinion. Does that rule apply only when a corporation supports the policies of a governor who would be king?

  11. Debbie

Disney, please don’t back down! You had the right to speak. Not all of us Floridians voted for Desantis and not all of us want or like what he wants!!! Please, keep the fight! We want Reedy Creek back. We want ALL to feel welcome in Florida.

    1. XWingKC

      YES!! I am with Debbie!!!

    2. Janice

Disney has been solely responsible for the creation of Orlando. What Disney had the insight to recognize that in order to fulfill the dreams he hadd to create Disney world he needed to make sure that everything was perfect. Included the streets the source systems the way that Trash is handled Within Disney world it’s incredible. The problem with governments is that it leads to corruption and it shouldn’t but it does.

  12. Alexis Van Cort

DeSantis is governing by his personal beliefs. What happened to freedom of speech for Disney. All the tax payer’s money is wasted on the litigation especially in today’s economy. DeSantis needs to grow up & back down.

  13. KMAN

My first visit to Disneyland was in 1963 , I grew up 4 blocks from Disneyland . Both my daughters also grew up with a strong Disney presence . I have over 2000 visits to Disney, so I consider myself as part of the Disney family in fact both my daughters went through the Disney College Program and both are full time employees at Walt Disney World for the past 7 years.
Business is business and Disney has overstepped and prematurely exposed themselves by getting involved in other then Disney business.
As anyone in business or has a business degree knows contracts are always subject to change , where Disney at one point help establish Florida , fast forward 40-50 yrs Florida is well established with several big major companies alone with other major theme parks that were not on equal opportunities that Disney had , so these contracts would have been renegotiated anyway.
Disney getting involved in areas they had not business getting involved in just put a huge target on them selfs and on the business side they have hurt themselves by overestimating there power and are now in the position that is mort equitable for the industry and far to other similar companies.
People want to think why doesn’t Disney just pack up and leave Flordia, the simple answer is they can’t . Disney is Disney in name but realistically they are just a part , third parties have a major stake what people perceive as Disney is often third parties.

    1. There are over 1,700 contract such as Disney’s in Florida and none are renegotiated or threatened including the one Universal just received.

    2. Phil

Have you never heard of the Contracts Clause of the U.S. Constitution? “No State shall pass a law impairing the obligations of contract.” Simply put, no State shall pass a law revoking, invalidating, or altering a contract. That is exactly what DeSantis’ legislature puppets did to Disney. As for it’s Reedy Creek special district, there are hundreds of such arrangements all through Florida. One example is the Daytona Raceway. Tell you what, I’m willing to trade you DeSantis for Newsome. You like what DeSantis did; you live under his autocratic rule.

    3. Rudy

Unfortunately you haven’t attended the Disney school of grammar as you still use the wrong form of “their, and there,” misspelled “themselves,” and a multitude of additional grammatical errors. Thank you for solidifying that everything that’s posted on the internet is a bunch of random uneducated nonsense and opinion that doesn’t matter whatsoever. Even spellcheck won’t help you and although your topic is factual and I agree with you, your grammatical errors make me feel like you’re uneducated and spewing nonsense. I do however agree with your overall message

    4. Triny

Hiw did Disney overstep?? By denouncing a policy that DeSantis is foecing down their throat??? Sorry, I fundamentally disagree with you. Disney has been the draw in my state for decades. Its that park that pays hefty taxes to the state of Florida, which in tuen keeps us from paying them. DeSantis’ race crucade is going to screw us all over. This fighr is one-sided, and a joke!

  14. CJ

All good things must come to an end… Hopefully Disney learned a good lesson.

    1. The stock shareholders sure have !!!

  15. CJ

All good things must come to an end…Hopefully Disney learned a good lesson.

  16. John Gregory Navea

Why fight the biggest employer in FL? They will be in FL way after DeSantis.

  17. Tk

    What final warning

  18. Biggs

DeSantis wants to destroy the company that turned Kissimmee into a thriving area. If he does destroy Disney is he ready to handle the thousands of jobs that will be lost. Disney, area hotels and restaurants to name a few.

    1. Dennis Bell

DeSantis is making this personal and using the people of Florida money to think he can run this Nation like he’s hurting Florida. From his handling of the pandemic with his no mask mandate and in turn allowing thousands choosing not to mask up and thousands to die. If not number one number two in the nation. He’s Akin to Jim Jones drink the poison and die. Needless to say he got VACCINATED and his family. Two merchants of death, DeSantis and his Surgeon General. They need to be gone ASAP……

      1. Triny

It starts with the minions. Those representing each county that gives him the super majority also need to go. Every single election in the state of Florida matters, including the small ones.

  19. Jacqueline Berrios

Desantis will never be able to do what Disney does for Florida. He can suck it. Hopefully soon he’ll be voted out as he deserves and we’ll all be better off for it.

  20. Just gotta love DeSantis for trying to protect our children from woke school systems. Woke Disney needs to pick up their junk and move to place that will tolerate their woke politics. Florida certainly doesn’t need them selling their brand of education.

    1. Triny

Y’all always want to talk about “woke politics,” but do you even know what “woke” means?

  21. Dee

I love Disney and entry they stand for! I also believe if this crap continues or would be great as one conservative stated that they move to a different state and take all the jobs, tax money and tourists with them. Deathsantis and his followers don’t deserve all the perks Disney brings to that state.
I was born there and will not spend my vacation money there unless at Disney. Florida will cut off their nose to spite their face if Disney decides to pick up and move to a more welcoming state!!

  22. Carlos Rangel

Desantis is a pariah and the worst kind of fascist bully. He tramples all over the first amendment. If elected he is a threat to democracy and freedom.
