That’s what you get on a Disney vacation now a days. Stress on your phone constantly. The good old days of actually being stress free no phone no issues and enjoying a wonderful vacation. I feel bad for all the older people who are not tech savvy. They are the ones pushed aside. One day hopefully Disney will figure it out.
100 percent agree. We moved to FL a year ago for a job transfer so obviously we got a pass to Disney. Vacation vs really getting to enjoy the park is an extremely different experience. Because we can go so often, our heads aren’t buried in our phones anymore and we can actually take in what’s in front of us without rushing or worrying. Vacation was always stressful with the whole “are we going to have time” and trying to jam pack everything into the days we were there.
Our son is special needs so he does qualify for the DAS pass. We’ve overheard people say “just say you can’t stand in lines because your kid has to use the bathroom a lot, then you will get the similar advantages as Genie+ for free” and guest services buys it. It causes a lot of people to be dishonest. This happens frequently but that was the most recent crap we overheard. Our son also is provided with a stroller pass because of his disability. We had people ask us “how much was the red tag to be able to bring a stroller in line”. Completely nonsense. Everything is about money.
And you’re right. The honest, elderly people get screwed over because they aren’t tech savvy and because they have actual morals and lying about why they can’t “stand in line”.
Is Lightening Lane gone for good? It would be nice to go back to the way it was. No up charges, no spending 7 am wakes just to book genie+. I’d be happy with paper fast passes. Worked just fine. No phones required!
I used to love going to Disneyland. The last time I went was 2008. No genie + or phones needed. There’s no way I would pay that much more per day for the app, especially when you can’t depend upon it to even work. Not to mention having to pay more for the lightning lanes. I sure miss the fast passes which were free, just first come first served.
All we had to do was Uninstall the app then re-install and sign back in. Worked perfectly. No need to panic, just try this first next time. Works everytime.
Stop using this over priced system!! Refuse to pay for something when you’ve already paid an exorbitant price to begin with!! Until people get off their damn phones and refuse this idiosy, they will never stop!!! Higher and higher prices!! Get off your phones and look around you!! You’ll be surprised who and what you’ll see!!!
You aren’t wrong but just hope that no other park goes the way of Disneyland Paris. There are no physical maps, the only maps of the park you get are in the app. I wish
I’d known before we went so I could have printed out an older version from the internet. It’s no fun trying to find a particular ride in a park you’ve never been in before on a tiny little map without ride names just icons that you have to click to find out what it is and then readjust the map and try again when you get the wrong ride. Paper maps are important!!!
