Why do you keep saying J.K. Rowling is divisive? She is not divisive unless you are in the extreme left.

      I’d like to see Emma play as a [ genie ] 24/7
      in a Harem Costume

and she calls her husband Master Darling

      🥰 🥰

      What’s not to like

No! There is a reason some movies do not have a “reboot”. The “Harry Potter” series should be one of them. “Back to the Future”, “The Godfather” and “Casablanca” just to name a few, these movies are so perfect, any attempt to try and reproduce that “magic” is doomed to fail. MAYBE if the original cast was majorly involved, then MAYBE. Even then, I have my doubts. This is a bad idea, and it will fail.

HBO isn’t doing a reboot so much as going by the books a lot more than the movies did.

      I agree with you Mezzum – 100%

While I don’t care who plays the characters in a play, it’s impossible to make a character be a different color if you actually follow the timeline and previous cast.

No it’s not …JK herself had approved this and, moreover, confirmed that Hermione’s race/colour was NEVER mentioned in the books. This, the upset is wholly at your end.

  4. Lynnn

There is no reason to cast these characters in anyway different than how they were written.

Think it’s a fab idea, but not unless it’s the original cast, for theatre it’s fine to have a person of any colour colour and race but we grew up with those characters so if it’s not sxme cast then no.

  6. Ash

    nope. I wont be watching.

Cursed Child came out in London in 2016. I was there. Hermione was a Black woman. This is not new news. Why would it be a big deal if a Cast of Color was replaced by more POC?

  8. Alice

Don’t think the film should change anything about Hermione as that’s what we have all grown up with. Sure the play can do whatever. But the film series should be kept the same.

    1. William Hudgins

      I agree Alice

Would love to see the cursed child as a movie. I can’t afford to go to New York to watch it on stage so I definitely would love to see it and the only way I can is if they make it into a movie.

  10. Joe

Oh sure, here we go again.

  11. Cathryn

No. Nothing more could ever compare. It would only be a disappointment.

  12. William Hudgins

Yes I would like to see this 9th film as long as all the original Harry Potter characters are coming back to reprise their roles from the original Harry Potter movies. Daniel Radcliffe as Harry Potter. Rupert Grint as Ron Weasley. Emma Watson as Hermione Granger. So on and so forth. Would also like to see Maggie Smith back as Professor Miganigal and Neville as Professor Longbottom for the Herbology classes.

  13. Linda

I agree it would not be the same if you change character’s. If you do I won’t watch it

The Cursed Child was not written by Rowling, but by a guy named Jack Thorne. So why should it even be considered canon?

  15. Diagon Alley

Yes, I’d like a return to the wizarding world with the original or new staff if they do it right.

    Count me OUT……
