The majority of the 4 million subscribers lost were all in India. This is because Disney Plus lost the rights to carry the Cricket games. That is all. This has nothing to do with content, woke, etc. This is a lost of rights to broadcast sports inside India. So 4 million bailed. Losing those rights was a mistake, yes, and Disney needs to increase the monthly fee to cover that loss.

    1. Jah

Oh yeah…I’ll be canceling it before the price hike…..but I’ve been too lazy to drop espn + or cancel it since i signed up a few months ago so…🤪🤪🤪

      1. Kandyce

I will be canceling Disney plus and are things I have enjoyed watching but a price hike for a retired couple is a reason to disconnect it! I

    2. Chris B

“The majority of the 4 million subscribers lost were all in India” “This has nothing to do with content, woke, etc” Two of the most pathetic excuses ive heard so far in some brainwashed humanoid defending the Disney+ embarassment. Go look up the news about the next disaster Disney has coming up called Pauline that will be on Disney+

      1. Alex

I love it when people ignore the totality of reality to blame everything on “woke”. Bunch of politics obsessed clowns.

      2. Flag That Comment

^hey site moderators, do you let these kinds of attacks (Chris B’s comment) go by, unchecked?

    3. The Truth

      Sweetie, bless your heart.

    4. Anon

Because every poo is paying to watch cricket monthly. O.o

    5. Nunya business

Wrong. Go woke go broke.. Disney will get their Bud light moment soon enough. Make all the excuses you want. They’re movies and shows are trash. Pushing the woke ideology is going to cripple them eventually.

      1. Morgan

You’re an idiot. It’s all about corporate greed. Disney is literally one of the least “woke” companies in the entertainment industry. Netflix is far more progressive and they’re doing great. Take your “everything I don’t like is woke” BS somewhere else.

        1. Bill

That’s an interesting theory but it ignores corporate identity, which is a huge, albeit subjective, factor in this discussion. Netflix is merely a platform. They showed up as a platform and THEN moved into content creation. Disney had an established identity and following, THEN became a content creator, then began producing content that alienated a large portion of their base. Whatever political spin gets put on this, left or right, is secondary to the culture shakeup we’ve seen play out at disney for years. It started with ousting Iger for Chapek, and now that they’re hemorrhaging money they brought Iger back. At the end of the day, the only color they’re worried about is green

        2. Mike

You must be joking. Disney is on top of the list of “woke” companies nobody is even close

      2. Rocky

Amen Brother! Go woke go broke

        1. Dave

Lmao! “Go woke go broke” is just another tag line from the republikkkan party. The good news is conservatives are slowly killing off the brand.

      3. Spotlight On You

Ok then, smartie. What do you call a good movie? Please list specific examples.

      4. Tom Tangy

Of course the die hard right(wrong) wingers always throw out the (woke) comment to get there fan base excited. Ignore them they will die off soon enough.

    6. S

Corporate greed is all it is. But hey increase it more lose more subscribers seems like a better idea. Take sharing away that’s even better. So now the my family and I who splits the bill can use something they helped pay for. Awesome Thanks Disney!!

    7. Nicholas

What about other quarters? Better question- you don’t think Disney would have taken that into their predictions?

In the beginning, I was into Disney +. As time went on and their shows got worse and worse, willow was just boring, I haven’t watched.

If the package of Hulu/Disney+ goes up. It’s not worth having.

    8. Cyke

It has all to.do with woke content…they ruined star wars, they ruin Marvel…whats left…I’m their core subscriber grew up with star wars and marvel. I will never subscribe for what they did to those two universes…and everyone I know directly and directly feels the sames…I can list 200ish people that feel the same…think of that exponentially

    9. Daus

I live in Indonesia and I’ve unsubscribed to them because of their ridiculous Woke movement. Their contents are clearly poor. Look at what happens to Little Mermaid and Tangled.

    10. JR

For me personally, it has everything to do with the LACK of decent content, in addition to them having changed the “tune” of what Disney used to be about. Other people can watch what they want and live the life they want but I don’t have to agree with them not do I HAVE to pay for a streaming service that lacks DECENT content. My humble opinion though.

  2. Emilio Polanco

That’s not going to happen, will it?

    1. Mike

      No

  3. Daniel

Disney+ was nice, but not anymore. I switched to the subscription with ads, it has more ads than regular TV. I will be cancelling. I am very disappointed.

    1. Misha

I really signed up for Disney+ for Marvel Content and Star Wars Content and Pixar but if they are going to be dropped I will also be dropping Disney+ and just stick with Hulu by itself.

      1. Erik

Corporate plans are to always raise the prices to raise the profit and never lower and the public will just go along as inflation requires. We have little choice. Get a
new job downsize tighten our belts – that’s corrupted capitalism.

    2. AaronJ001

It does not have more ads than tv lol

      1. Bigbotz

You can’t change the channel during the miserable streaming commercials. I will never watch a show with ads.

  4. They ended it?

      1. Captain Blackjack

Time to go back to sailing the high seas

        1. Anon

          Aye aye captain!

      2. Michael

They stopped releasing DVD and Blu-ray, now this? Are they trying to chase us away?

    1. Anon

TubiTV has more content than any paid streaming service and it’s free. The algorithms are surprisingly good, too. You don’t even have to login.

      1. Gina

They can’t ge rid of disney plus what about the little mermaid if do get rid of it i won’t be happy

        1. Dark truth

This just proves that it is all about lining Bob Igers pocket. Profit and loss is determined after all costs have been accounted for. For them to say they only had a 1.8 billion dollar profit ? They are down .5 million ? Who benefits from profit? I’ll tell you he does and he gets it in a nice big tax free bonus check

  5. Glenn

I pre paid for a year so I am stuck. I am not going to renew my disney + just as I had stopped going to Disney parks due to price gouging that has happened over the past 10.years.

    1. N

I’m in the exact same position. I’ve already set it to not renew.

    2. Cas

Poor title choice just for readers. Shame on the author! I hate when people title false things to attract attention!

      1. Anon

This same website posted a story about how WB sold Harry Potter. Not true at all.

    3. Bigbotz

I don’t see what they are talking about because I have found myself watching disney + more now than ever. I used to watch Netflix most but now I find everyone watching disney + and Amazon prime.

    4. If you think Disneyland is overcrowded now (a longtime known fact… has been every time I’ve gone since 1999) imagine how bad it would be if they lowered ticket prices to an “affordable” level (under $100).

Keep prices as they are (you can afford to go if you save up… so what if we can’t go on a whim) AND eliminate their Annual Passes permanently, make locals pay each time they go like the rest of us. This will thin the crowds.

  6. John Horton

What?! No i had Disney+ since 2020 i don’t want them to shut it down in America

  7. Corn Flake

Do you actually think an entire service will shut down all because of cricket games in India? It’s worldwide buttercup.

  8. Emmi

Has Hulu even put out any good shows in the last 6 months or so? Disney+ is good for some shows, but if I can’t lock in my current price for a year, I’ll let the service go. I already have Netflix as part of my phone plan (at a discounted rate at that), so unless Disney does something to keep me attracted, I’ll be one of the subs letting the service go.

    1. Kevin

The Bear is one of the best shows on TV.

    2. AaronJ001

I like being able to watch all the marvel movies and cartoons on demand

    3. Amy Ess

Cutting content and rising prices is certainly the way to retain users and/or attract new ones! ( sarcasm) What are they thinking? Apparently they aren’t. It doesn’t take an MBA to figure out. There is saying in baseball- never pull a winning pitcher. They have pulled the winning pitcher and still expect to win the game. Not working. Get some real people in charge, not just talking heads

      1. BluesMessiah

The problem is the pitcher they had in wasn’t winning. He was losing. Sure, “more content for less money” sounds nice to the consumer, but the service was costing them more money than they were charging for. Anyone with half a brain understands that if you charge less than your cost you’re going to fail. They jettisoned some property nobody is going to miss and will raise it $2 or so, and bring it back into the black. They’ll lose a few people (which has already been accounted for in the math), but not that many.

  9. Car

Where are all the comments? Why are none showing for me?

  10. Dame

Are they keeping the bundle packages. I get Hulu, Disney, ESPN ad free 20.00

  11. Stephen

I cancelled both my Disney+ and Hulu. Because I discovered after a year, that I had been double charged every month. Even though my accounts were supposed to merge, I was being charged for the bundle from both entities. I don’t even know what to do about it or if it’s worth my time to prove it. I’m done with Disney for good.

    1. AaronJ001

      I don’t think that’s Disney’s fault

    2. Till

      No you haven’t liar

  12. Chris

they be cutting down on password sharing lol

    1. Anon

They’ll end up logging out paying customers and losing a lot of subscribers

  13. Dan

I was paying over $165 a month on cable, watching maybe 10 or 12 channels regularly. So, no, having streaming services will not cost the same as cable. Basic cable, maybe, but you can’t compare that with all the content on the streamers.

  14. Rick

My wife and I are having the same problem. I’m ready to kick Disney to the curb. For what I’m paying, the content doesn’t match.

Don’t get me started on Espn±. The few showers shows I do like I have to watch them by Wednesday, before they get deleted. Wouldn’t it make better sense to have an archive?

  15. Randy Nocks

All but maybe 1 of those movies and tv shows purged were nothings anyway! Nothing to notice there. But the price gouing is ridiculos. You can see everyone of these on youtube anyway whenever u want.

  16. President Brandon Diaperfull

Good, the groomers need to crash and burn.

  17. David

Disney is not Ending Disney+, this is C L I C K B A I T at its finest. You ought to be ashamed of yourselves..

    1. downscale

      indeed.

  18. Aaron

Yeah I went ahead and canceled Disney+ because of the whole woke agenda. I kept it for a while because Disney had some quality content back in the day, but in the last several years they have just been pushing and pushing the work agenda and I got tired of it. The last straw was the fact that they kept “Sound of Freedom” from being released once they acquired the rites from Fox, a movie that if it had been released 5 years ago would be considered a “Qunon” film like the liberal media makes you think it is today. So while I had been on the fence of keeping Disney+ for a while, that was the thing that made the decision to drop it easy.

  19. Donald Task

Maybe they shouldn’t be spiking their content with Woke Agendas, they’d have less upset customers.

  20. downscale

Maybe it’s not a good idea for an Entertainment Company to have a political agenda that divides their customer base, in an attempt to appease 1% of the people that care about your brand.

  21. D

Nothing but constantly increasing cost but delivering less. Disney never put there entire movie line up into their on demand library. Along with their new policies that Walt Disney would have stopped. I will cancel my service and keep my DVD library

  22. Paul

Oh yes, Disney, raising your prices will bring in more customers 🤦🏻‍♂️ Why do companies do this? Then act shocked when they lose millions more subscribers/profits. Are they thinking “what? I thought your problem with our service was your were paying too little for more content, so we switched it?”

  23. Justin

Paying more for less? I am so sick of this. No thanks.

  24. Chris

It’s accurate, not pathetic. Just because it doesn’t fit your narrative doesn’t mean it isn’t fact.

  25. G

Where’s the story about Disney ending it’s service? All I see is how it’s raising its prices.

  26. Jim

So, their solution is to offer subscribers less while charging more. That seems to be a common thread across the board, at least in corporate America. My prediction action is even more red ink.

  27. Jim

So, their solution is to offer subscribers less while charging more. That seems to be a common thread across the board, at least in corporate America. My prediction is even more red ink.

  28. President Brandon Diaperfull

Good. The company is full of chomos and p e d o s, and should crash and burn. The sooner the better.

    1. Dc

      Dam right pres!!!

  29. Cedric T

I really only watched Disney+ for Marvel and they play most of their movies on TV now so I’m good. I already discontinued my subscription a couple months ago.

  30. Dee hall

I’ll only keep Disney if they continue Marvel Comics Star Wars and the cartoons I like Moana and Frozen otherwise I’ll look for other outlets

    1. RickTR

Have you ever heard of DVDs?

  31. RickTR

Disney needs to keep deleting their shows especially the woke and pride crap.

  32. Rick

Lose ESPN, get rid of more of the trash and Marvel content and get back to good old Disney that so many grew up on. Stop trying to be Woke and Politically correct.

  33. Catdad

It’s blatant greed from these companies. They keep increasing packages almost every year now. We might as well all go back to cable and cancel all these streaming platforms. These companies are multi billion dollar organizations. It’s disgusting. I hope they continue to lose revenue and subscribers. It’s what they deserve for their greed.

  34. Jay

Ours was set to renew at the end of October, but I just cancelled ahead of time (it’ll still be active until the October date). I was still on a $79.99 annual plan, but the new price means a $60 increase. We hardly watched Disney+, so now we’ll just subscribe whenever there are a few shows that we want to watch. Binge for a month and unsubscribe again. In the end, we come out ahead

  35. DC

You will make more money if you cut the woke content , not password sharing im one more Disney woke virtue signal from canceling mine.

  36. John Lebzelter

I no longer support Disney+ as a streaming Service and no more Disney in my house

  37. Nunya business

Wrong. Go woke go broke.. Disney will get their Bud light moment soon enough. Make all the excuses you want. They’re movies and shows are trash. Pushing the woke ideology is going to cripple them eventually.

  38. Asil

Disney+ will survive off of Bluey alone.

    Signed, a toddler parent

  39. Mellisa

The only reason I’ll keep it is because of the discount I get through my Verizon wireless plan. Overall, I’m not impressed with their library or their interface.

  40. Lucifer

I’ll be cancelling soon especially since I’m already paying for max & Netflix the only good thing Disney+ has is star wars I’m not a big MCU fan l like DC but I’ve already saw literally everything MCU related & the only movies I liked on Disney+ was maleficent & cruella.

  41. Steve

Disney+ will not exist in less than 15 years and streaming as a medium will be banned entirely. Theaters, physical media, and other traditional forms of media will be the law both nationally and at Disney after I take it over and bring back the “What would Walt do?” mantra. No one will miss streaming. Back to Blockbuster and Hollywood Video you will go for renting movies. No one is going to choose to stop being entertained without streaming. And it’s not like movies and tv would go away without streaming because people will refuse to go back to theaters.

  42. Sean

It’s also a seasonal thing. Do any of the steaming services realize that tons of people also cancel their services in the late spring/summer/fall because they are not stuck inside and go enjoy the outdoors. This happened when the main effects of Covid ended, people started enjoying life again and didn’t want Netflix ad much.

  43. July

They better bring back “Disney Channel” to the places they robbed it from then! I’m autistic and need my Disney+. I’m not sure what itll mean for me being in the UK but I love the content, do not have the space to buy every Disney film on DVD.

  44. Richard Solo

I miss you so much and I wit guard now ok

  45. Sam

I just wish all haters would take all your evil hate and shut up.about the woke bs. Ok we know you hate people of color and LGBT people but grow up
    You racist people
We are here to talk about disney not your bigotry and hate ok.

  46. Egi

So, Netflix still costs $10 per month in my country, 4k

Disney plus same price everywhere, I can’t justify that.

  47. Renee

The only politics I’m concerned with is the constant price increase, that’s what im woke to. I have 4 grandchildren that their little hearts are broken when I try to be stern and not pay the subscription. Now its increasing again. Thats Disney +, plus my other subscriptions. Its highway robbery. I’ve already cut off Netflix. Paying for just internet plus subscriptions, subscriptions that now have adds whats the purpose in cutting the cord? Imjs

  48. Dan Ara

And these greedy kornholes wonder why people illegally stream shit. They keep increasing prices (even before people were pirating shows) and wonder why people drop them. Nothing but greedy people period.
