Many people, including yourself, dont really seem to understand one major fact: the stories that were successful after endgame are of objectively lower quality by script writing standards. Even endgame itself sought to artificially create pay-offs that didnt make sense for characters. Not to mention the plot that fails on a fundamental level.
Its not equal across the board, but I can safely say that each film or series has had at least: one character assasinated, has broken world-building, has elements of an incoherent plot, and will sometimes not even be thematically accurate. And thats not even touching stakes or narrative cohesion between projects because the directors/showrunners dont communicate and actively despise passionate fans.
To answer your question: bringing back RDJ would only give them a chance to ruin his character. Which they already did in Falcon & Winter Soldier.
Quality is what we need more of, there is no quick ‘n easy way out.
Endgame was brilliantly written. It has the best character arcs of any MCU film. It’s some of the fans who often don’t want or accept character arcs which is why why get character erasures or reboots like the awful Peter Parker regression, or the Rhodie complete annihilation.
Give them time. They have been worn from covid19 scar tissue. The MCU needs 2 #recasttchalla with a quickness. Keep Jonathan Majors as Kang in the MCU bring back movies with a serious tone.
Sorry, but with movies like Barbie, Oppenheimer, Top Gun: Maverick and Across The Spider-Verse delighting audiences everywhere, the Covid excuse is no longer valid.
Once they obtained the rights to the Fantastic Four back they should have fast tracked that. FF is clearly the biggest draw they still have (that they haven’t used) and waiting until phase 6 to use them is a huge mistake.
I want to see the ff and the xmen done properly. With no race swaping or race changing characters. Galactus and Dr Doom done correctly. At least make Dr Doom a European male as he is in the comics
Literally EVERYTHING you said. Disney can do FF justice, finally. And bring in the X-Men. There are plenty of storylines to run with from that team. I’d also like to see villains like the Brood, Arcade, Mojo, Mr. Sinister…
We wanna see well written, coherent story that abandon the practice of sacrificing characters on the altar of appeasing people with demands that don’t make sense for those characters; watered down origin stores, race/gender swaping for no reason other than to p*ss off the real, long time fans with the money in favor of maybe, possibly, gaining a few new fickle fans that won’t stay around unless Disney is actively destroying everything Marvel has built over the years. Get rid of the not so secret agendas and get back to what made phase 1,and 2 so great.
The films and shows since Endgame have just been going on and on and on, they don’t seem to be linked well, and the conclusion is still 3-4 years away.
The MCU has forgotten Stan Lee’s most important lesson: characters matter more than SFX. Marvel keeps trying to CGI us to death with rather bland characters as heroes. Spider-Man movies work when people care about Peter Parker. Thor worked best when he was struggling about who he was as a person, not because he was telling jokes. I can’t tell you much about any of the people they have introduced lately because they bury them in a hot mess of CGI.
I don’t understand why people would even think that they’d abandon the MCU right now. Good or bad these movies are still making money. The shows are decent but they don’t land the endings. They introduce new characters and interesting concepts but it’s always that last episode that falls flat. Either way they still need time because the pandemic messed up the shooting schedules and with Chadwick passing they were in a tailspin. Hopefully this Johnathan Majors mess is cleared up and they can start to straighten their course.
I love how all of these numbnuts think race/gender-swapping is tanking the MCU. Nice waving your bigot flags high, guys. Great PR for the industry.
The MCU is tanking because of superhero fatigue – too many projects rushed out that are too similar – and from creative teams making them that have been overtaxed in the process, esp on the VFX side. This isn’t “content” – they’re movies and TV, and the minute we take our eyes off the ball of making each *individual* one a great experience, the faster people lose interest. Black Panther was stupendous on its own. Iron Man 1 was rock solid. Thor Ragnarok was a completely silly action ride. Loki S1 was wild and unhinged and unlike anything else we’d seen the character do.
Just make great work, Feige. The rest – from the interconnectivity to the lunchboxes – will follow.
Disney has destroyed marvel/starwars by trying to make marvel into comedies. Ie Thor, she-hulk etc Even starwars, why does starwars need to have jokes?
Most marvel TV shows, or all of them in my opinion, seriously lack substance. Same with most of the Star Wars shows. Disney just ruins everything they touch anymore.
Secret invasion, for lack of a better word, sucked. It was literally a struggle foŕ me to watch, with the hope that “something would happen”. The only cool charecters were the 2 women in the end, the English Lady In Red and the young SuperSkrull. The show was so bad that I forgot their names, though I do remember “Nigel” because he was included in the funniest line in the series. I have but one request of Disney, leave Deadpool alone, please, even if it means keeping out of the MCU.
A new Fantastic Four movie should have been made before Secret Invasion . Deadpool will be fine as long as it’s done like Deadpool comic . One shots , put a cohesive story into one movie . Marvel comic books had same issue at times . Multi book storylines are just as hard to sale as multi movie storylines .
I disagree with this blog. No one is watching MCU stuff anymore because they went “woke”, which now made the whole thing a big joke. Everything they’ve been making has been a big slap in the face to the fans.
Agreed I’ve been entertained the whole time. To different extents to be sure but overall entertained. I just love the mcu world and the characters that inhabit it
I think they should limit content on Marvel & other franchises but they’re doing an overall good job. They say “familiarity breeds contempt” so allowing more time between projects would result in more anticipation for fans & having only serious content that is overall more family friendly would draw more people. If people love something but something new is coming out each month, that is like Taylor Swift releasing a new album & tour each month, not enough time to savor & absorb the masterpiece or take quality time to craft it…
Being older I like the characters that are somewhat obscure like I’d like to see submariner. Wanting these things for so long to be on the screen it doesn’t really matter to me if they’re bad or good just the fact that they’re there because I grew up with comics and half these fans don’t even know what they are.
Actors can’t, and understandably don’t want to, do these roles forever. They need to introduce new characters eventually. Real comic fans understand this and look forward to new heroes. Like another comment mentioned, good stories and quality production will help the public accept this
This is a fake website. They have been posting about Disney canceling everything recently and none is true. They should find something real to write about.
They need to finally do sister six… Stop toying with us. What about Spiderman vs venom where’s that teased movie???? They need to do X-Force but in a good way not in a lame Deadpool way
..they need fantastic 4 and Galactus they need to include silver surfer but as a talking character not like an ai. And Disney needs to stop.the.inclusivity, they need to make normal movies…p.s. we need a HULK MOVIE!
The problem with the current state of the MCU is ironically the same problem their competition used to fall into. They have become so obsessed with setting up a new connected universe they aren’t focusing on storytelling. It’s like a snake eating it’s own tail. They became so successful they circled back around to chasing that success without seeing what lead to it.
We’re fine with new heroes, even excited for them. But you have to build them up, make them interesting. We don’t care how they fit in with the next big bad if we don’t even know them as characters. They’re rushing to get to the next avengers movie but forgetting the Avengers didn’t fight Thanos in movie one.
Rather than building up Kang so early they should have let there be a downtime where they introduce these new heroes and let them grow for a while. Have them cut their teeth on some smaller scale challenges then have them fight the big guy.
All we want is character development, stories that flow and make sense and stakes outside of saving the entire earth to get to know these characters’ personal struggles, their hopes and dreams. Then we’ll care when they fight the big bad. So far these new characters feel paper thin so we don’t care.
And it sucks because the blip gives lots of story telling opportunities for more personal smaller scale ideas. Like miss marvel who is so young. Maybe have she lost both her parents when the blip happened and she was alone so her sunny disposition now is to hide that pain and now that they’re back she’s determined to enjoy every day for fear it will be ripped from her again. Or she-hulk, the hulk is her frickin cousin! How does that affect your Outlook on life? What about characters who were blipped? How do you back to a normal life after the world moved on without you for five years? You come back and everyone but you has aged. Think of that mind blow! They need to focus on the character not to big bad.

Maybe this will be good news in the long run for the MCU. Disney has ruined it along woth Star Wars.

While innocent till proven guilty, everyone has dropped him because of multiple cases of assault. You want him to Kang still.

I agree and get rid of all of the Disney + diluted series.

When Marvel did something similar in the comics, sales tanked – what makes them think it would be any different in the cinema?
They’re throwing all their eggs in one basket while attempting ro cater to an audience/demographic that does not exist.
