I am a Florida resident and a Disney annual paasholder. I am beyond angry that this is even being considered. I pay my hard earned money for mine and my daughters passes over $200 a month after a hefty down-payment. Now because Disney and DeSantis have it out for each other you’re going to cut my annual passes and benefits?! This pissing contest has gone on long enough! I get it started out as two sides taking a stand for their beliefs but that is no longer what any of this is about. Now it is which side can hurt whom the most. Guess what, you’re not really hurting each other, you’re hurting us the Florida residents. We are your VOTERS and your CONSUMERS!! Go ahead keep doing what you are doing because we are fed up with ALL of the shenanigans from both sides and if we are going to be losing either way then we’ll just take you both down! At least it will be on our terms!

I think you may have misread the information. The way i read it, it applies to Reedy Creek employees only. They will still get the benefit, except now they get 1K to spend on whichever park they choose (I think).

      Amen to that.

It’s not about reg ppls passes like ours but for the employees that works at Disney they are losing their benefits. Try reading next time.

I read it to be all annual passes.

      DeSantis is a moron!
( and I do live in Florida)

      1. Paula

        Amen. He lost my vote.

No. DeSantis is not a moron. After decades of the shady relationship between Reedy Creek and Disney, DeSantis is making damn well sure that Disney and the new GOVERNMENT managed district no longer maintain that cozy relationship. This is appropriate. District employees will no longer get discounts on annual passes. This is a good thing. Take away that temptation to buy influence.

There’s no “both sides” with this. DeSantis is punishing Disney for having the gall to say that they didn’t agree with one of the governor’s policies.

      1. Paula

        Amen. He lost my vote.

This is a change to WDW employee benefits, not the annual passholder program. Instead of offering employees a pass, they will now receive $1000 a year to spend on whatever they want. As noted in the article, only 50% of employees were taking advantage of their pass benefit. Now everyone will have $1000 to spend however they want to.

I’m pretty sure they are talking about employees annual passes and I’m also pretty sure they are talking about the ready creek district so the waste management cast members but I agree it should be left up to the cast members themselves.

I think they are talking about government officials not regularl guest.
The subject line is a trap to get readers to read

This is about annual passes and benefits that were given to employees of the former Reedy Creek District, not to normal passholders. Disney used to give these passes and perks as a gift to the people (firefighters, Emts, etc) who work for the District and now the new board is going to take those away

From what I read passes they are targeting are for cast members.

He obviously wanted something for free and Disney is treating him like ALL guests. Pathetic. He needs to worry about our people still living under homes that we’re degutted from hurricane Ian. Let’s focus on that and the state. Insurance companies are not helping and neither is our state of Florida Governor!!! Stop picking on things that are not a problem.

There is absolutely no way that the governor is acting in the best interest of the people of Florida.

    1. Bill

      Yes. Yes he is.

DeSantis is trying to maintain a strict line between the oversight district and the companies that are managed by that district. As it should be. With a compromised Reedy Creek, Disney was essentially acting as its own government. That needed to be stopped. Thank god we have a governor with enough backbone to get it done.

What about all the other special districts such as The Villages? This is absolutely about DeSantis’ being mad at Disney for disagreeing with him publicly. What a small little tyrant.

  5. Sue

Is this just for workers who get to go to the parks for free bc I didn’t read anything about Florida residents
