How can he do it?
Answer: He owns it.
If you don’t like it, go start your own company or buy one and then you get to make the rules. It is annoying to hear people who have nothing in the game bitching about things they don’t like.
Clearly, he’s trying to solve a problem. If it’s a problem that you are creating or want to participate in, then stop bitching about it and go somewhere else.
We’re “bitching” because we’re the people using the product, and we don’t like the changes he’s making. That’s supposed to be a legitimate consideration when running the site, but Elon is bad at his job so he’s going to continue not listening and running the app into the ground until no advertisers want anything to do with him anymore. It’s a childish experiment, and it’s going to end badly. The idea that you need enough money to buy a company in order to see that is ludicrous.
Also, the problem cited was data scraping, which he essentially created more of by installing a patch that makes the site constantly try to fetch information it can’t get. Even if he was trying to solve a problem, his solution was asinine and didn’t work, and one of the engineers he fired probably could have told him that. He deserves to be criticized for both things.

This guy is a nutcase. Who names their child a number? Talk about getting bullied in school. As soon as he bought Twitter I bailed.
