Given the WGA & SAG-AFTRA strikes could give Disney a chance to bring shows that are already aired on Disney+ to the network, and a greater viewership.
Marvel Mondays? Star Wars Saturdays?
ABCs upcoming fall line up, reality and game shows, (to quote Spaceballs: the Movie–BARF!)
Just think of the already aired shows, that Disney could jam pack the weeks with top players like Star Wars and Marvel. This may open up the eyes of others and realize network is where its at, always has been, always will be.
With ad based tiers, and realized doculoisly priced ad-free tiers. isn’t streaming just becoming another network TV experience amyway?
As far as little ms Marvel, goes, ddnt watch it on D+ , won’t watch it on ABC.
We never watch commercial TV. Ads destroy the emotional investment in a TV show and especially movies. I’m sure we are not alone. A major switch to commercial network television will kill streaming. We’d certainly drop Disney+ (Disney-) if there is never anything new offered. Perhaps this the the death knell of streaming, perhaps intentionally.
I doubt it’s the death nell of streaming. I don’t think streaming will end. But not every entertainment company needs a streaming service. It was just oversaturation of the streaming marketplace. And the ballooning budgets of projects on these streaming services. The bubble has burst its just a matter of how many survives.
I think the AMPTP has wandered into a desert without water, and plan on outlasting the union members who have been living in this desert for years. Writers and actors need “side hustles” year round for how sporadically they’re employed. They’re paying their rent like they always do between gigs. CEO’s are used to year-round salaries, quarterly bonuses, and consumer confidence. We’ll soon see if board members are happy to follow CEOs into the desert without food or water.
In my opinion, this is an advertising campaign for The Marvels. Looking at the facts, Captain Marvel received a lot of hate, mostly directed toward Brie Larson. She was overhyped in the events of Infinity War and Endgame, which left viewers wondering what her purpose was in the MCU. Also, not everyone streams TV due to access or just didn’t watch Ms. Marvel. She isn’t a major player in the Marvel Universe, so really people didn’t care about her. Add in the fact that the release date for The Marvels has been pushed back several times, I’m thinking the choice to air Ms. Marvel on network is Disney’s way of introducing the character to a wider audience prior to film release. Ms. Marvel is acting as The Marvels “hype-man” so to speak.
It sounds good, but the consumer will ultimately loose out! As we cut cords to get rid of services, only to have to reconnect to get certain channels back! Unless they live in a region with good antenna. Disney+ does have a slew of shows they could easily plaster on ABC for the time being, heck I just started watching Home Improvment again…. And I laugh harder now as a dad then I did as a kid watching with my dad!!!

Net-WORKING???

Sorry there won’t be any Agnes Harkness. On the bright side there won’t be no iron heart.

Streaming should be used to complement broadcast/cable not replace it. The Streaming only model is simply not sustainable.
