Not only is alot of it gaudy. But the prices are out of hand. I refuse to pay $80 fir a long sleeve TShirt .
Disney is nothing but money hungry anymore.

Disney really care about repeat visitors! They want to sock it to 1st and 2nd time buyers . They know they can’t sell those 80/90 dollar T’s to seasoned Disney visitors. So relax it WILL NEVER HAPPEN ! Lately at Disney it’s all about the greenbacks .

We used to spend so much money on merch now we hardly buy anything. Every store in every park and hotel sell the same stuff. Sick of the cross merch in all stores. Don’t like seeing Haunted Mansion stuff in Animal Kingdom etc. It’s all junk now.

    Don’t go

I am 58 years old and love wearing my Disney merchandise at home. I am always in a Disney shirt. I probably own over 100 tee shirts. I am not loving the newer designs and a lot of times my daughter and I love the kids designs, but they don’t make them for adults and we wish they would. We do think the prices are out of control so we don’t buy as much as we used to.

    Couldn’t agree more with this.

I’ve always thought Disney merch is just slightly off with what people want. Be it colors, styles, whatever. We stopped buying when the t-shirts became toilet paper thin and cost way too much. The rest of the merch, mostly from china, is cheap junk that breaks before the vacation has ended. Sorry, but we’ll pass on the overpriced garbage Disney calls souvenirs.

Ever notice when your at the parks and you see something you like it’s selling for at least 25% more than your willing to pay? I see a great polo shirt and it’s $80-$100. And this goes for food too. That’s a hard no for me. Consistently.

We do my own Disney stuff. My embroidery machine is a Brother’s Disney machine. I love it. I cannot sell the merchandise I do, but can wear the heck out of it and it is quality merchandise we do. I love to wear every day.

What Disney is missing is family values. You know, families, where the children come from? Like when a man and a woman get together and have a child?

  10. Phil

Keep it simple…please. Stop pandering to every special group.

Wether at Disney Springs, stores in the Parks, or shop.Disney most of the items are something I would never want in my home. I don’t mind buying souvenirs for the kids but a lot of it is dumb. And I agree the prices for just a sweatshirt is far to high.

What I miss the merch that matched the area. You go to Frontierland and would be able to get cowboy hats and gear that was disney but matched the area. Now it’s all the same in every store. So boring.

I totally agree with the article. most items I would t wear out and home. Plus I don’t care for the feel of the fabric when it has the a huge design .
    Have a few simple pieces.

I think most of the merchandise in the park is useless crap now.

  16. As a recent Disney vacationer I was extremely disappointed with Disneyland in general from the rudeness and line cutting of other guests, too many broke down rides to the overpriced gaudy merchandise that you could pick up at a general store. Disney is completely out of touch with regular customers. I was truly was disappointed with the whole experience this time.

  17. Rob

Disney is woke and doesn’t care about what the public think, wake everyone and don’t go to Disney or its films

  18. Gabrielle

Used to love the merch now its hit or miss. But even if I want to buy something it’s waaaayyyyy too expensive

Because young hip marketing worked so well for Bud Lite….

I’ll be honest here, I really wish they had more of a minimalist appeal. Some of their pride stuff was fantastic this year; but in general, I find many of the options too busy.

This is my solution to the whole problem that some of you are having, just don’t go to the parks, and if you do go don’t buy any merchandise okay? Instead of complaining and whining about what they have there, nobody is forcing you to buy it but a lot of us like the merchandise and some of us do actually wear what we buy when we’re not at the parks okay? I think a lot of you just want to have a reason to complain about Disney and any little thing that you don’t like you try to force that negative opinion on everybody else so do us a favor and just stay home okay! Go to your local county Fair or your local state fair and do your shopping there! I’m so tired of people finding some reason to nitpick about Disney or universal, it’s getting really tired now! Go be mad about something that really counts!

The prices have always been out of hand. This isn’t new. However, I’m laughing my butt off at the people who want cool clean crisp fashion. This is Disney. They’re not known for their restraint and muted tones.

I agree. Keep it simple! Stop with all the crazy designs. Also why is almost every sweatshirt a hoody? Hoodys are fine, but for the many of us who don’t like or wear them, have a nice simple tasteful sweatshirt available to purchase. One last thing….the “new” Mickey Mouse and friends like the ones portrayed in Mickey and Minnie’s runaway train and the newer cartoons is horrible! Keep Mickey et al drawn like he should be…..the classic one!!

Agree 100%!!! Overdone and overpriced. Especially since the quality on some it has gone down over the years. Simple would be a welcome change to some of the over the top designs.

  25. Exit63NJ

Perhaps the answer is as simple as a little bit of both. Satisfies anyone who enjoys Disney. If you’re paying to go there, why not have the option to buy what makes you comfortable. We Disney fans want to show our love just some of us not as “loud” as others.

They use to have 2 locations, one was at the marketplace and I forget where the other one was but you could design your shirt yourself. Pick out the size, the color, character or not, wording. Simple enough!!I believe the location at downtown Disney was to the right of the Christmas store. Disney’s wonderful world of memories I think.
