As long as they embrace identity politics they will continue to lose audiences and money. Go woke go broke.

    1. Paradox

Get over yourself, boomer. LMFAO the world will keep on advancing while you stay stuck in the past. Anyone who uses ‘woke’ is instantly laughed at. Especially because it’s just parroting at this point. 😂 Keep on using words you don’t understand. You look so smart.

      1. Tim

Hey parrot. In your reality the world (at least the Human World) cannot continue as science does not work in your favor there. I see the only way that you can interact with people is through insulting them apparently to make up for your lack of intelligence. Considering that the company is losing millions of dollars over projects that have a left lean to them, I would say that the OP is correct in what they say as many other companies are doing the same thing and are losing money rapidly. AB is hemorrhaging and target is not in any better shape. It is not the Baby Boomer generation causing this it is people from Gen X, Gen Y and Gen Z. These “lack of values” you purport to believe make you a racist and sexist against women. And by doing this also a bully. I realize that this will go over your head and you will not actually look into what these portrayers of these ideas are doing and see that you are just being lied to so that the leaders can control you.

Exactly! Disney is supposed to be about happiness.

      1. Ashley

How is celebrating the diversity of others reducing happiness?

        1. VLM

Apparently, the existence of LGBT people is unhappy to 5he haters.

        2. VLM

Apparently, because it’s inherently unhappy for people who aren’t cookie cutter copies of Karen up there to exist.

      2. VLM

So what you’re saying is, it’s inherently UNHAPPY to acknowledge the existence of people who are not cis, straight white people and that we who are not cis, straight white people are not permitted to be happy? Sounds like MAJOR bigotry on your part to me. Thanks for devaluing my existence with your hate. Totally needed that.

      3. VLM

So you are saying what, that the existence of people who aren’t cis straight and white is unhappy? That we are inherently unhappy? That we don’t DESERVE to be happy because YOU are full of hate? Is that it? Because it sure sounds like that’s what you’re trying to say.

      4. VLM

Thanks for telling me that LGBT people aren’t allowed to be happy. I didn’t know.

      5. VLM

So you think that the existence of LGBT people is inherently unhappy? Sounds like bigotry to me.

    3. Daryl

And you don’t think Universal does that as well. Mario was successful because its dumb and people have become dumber. Simple as that.

  2. Candice

Disney needs to step away from the Drama of BLM and LGB plus

    1. VLM

People like you need to stop making it dramatic to acknowledge that human beings aren’t cookie cutter copies of one another. Like, seriously, there would be no drama if it we’re for YOUR hate.

  3. Jazz Cat

Disney decided to engage in divisive politics and lose viewers. This is how it will be until Disney recognizes that it is impossible to get everyone to agree on a single world view. There’s a way to weave in progressive elements without coming off as “preachy.”

    1. VLM

I love how “hey, LGBT people exist” is “politics” for you. So great. What you are saying, whether you mean it that way or not, is that people who don’t conform to a stereotype of cis, straight, and white shouldn’t be represented in art or medua and shouldn’t be allowed to speak up for themselves against hate and bigotry.

No. Sit down, shut up, and stop being the one MAKING IT political!

    2. VLM

If “a character happens to be LGBT” is somehow too “preachy” for you, the problem is distinctly YOU.

    3. VLM

The division exist because people like you can’t just let other people be themselves, you have to go around making laws outlawing the existence of other people. Nobody cares if you “all agree,” we just care that you tell us we aren’t allowed to have the exact same rights you have. If that’s too “preachy” for you, oh, well. Check the mirror for problems.

      1. Deb

Nobody can be just themselves. Haven’t you heard of socialization theory? We all learn to conform with society’s norms in some shape or fashion. Now if I didn’t want to take a shower for a week and go out to a restaurant I don’t believe that I would be treated well. With that being said, okay go out and be who you want.

      2. Ken

Think so! 🤔 why don’t you just look at the financial spreadsheet for the “woke” company’s genius!! The last thing we need are self righteous A-holes telling people how to the world or society is supposed to be. You are not the intended recipient of the future, you are the recipient of ignorance.

      3. Tim

And what rights do I have that you don’t? Answer this question and then maybe I will listen to you because as I see it you have the same rights as I do in the United States. If you don’t have rights, it must be because you live in Uganda.

  4. Ashley

Although I am not a POC or member of the LGBTQ+ community, I am happy to see them represented in all forms of media. Disney needs to continue that work while also continuing to bring on new creative people to tell new compelling stories.

    1. Marc

      WHY!!!!?????

      1. VLM

Why not? Why is it somehow okay to say that it’s wrong for people to just…exist?

    2. Steven

No one deserves representation anywhere. And there is one mantra that Disney must be run by, once was for decades, and when I take it over will again. Four words: “What would Walt do?” If that means keeping Disney frozen in time and even catering to 1950s/60s audiences and turning kids into clones of their parents and grandparents, so be it.

  5. I can’t wait see elsa anna movie frozen im big fan there keep them alive can’t wait see frozen 3

    1. RickTR

Can you repeat that in English?

      1. faackanders2

She can’t wait to see Anna and Elsa again in Frozen 3.
P.S. She is a big fan and may be young. Note she uses them as her call sign. Be kind!

  6. Yeppers

Go woke go broke. Read the room. Trying to cater to a small percentile subset who insist that people accept who they are when they couldn’t accept who they are. Interesting.

    1. Marc

AMEN!!!! WELL SAID. IF YOU DON’T KNOW WHO OR WHAT YOU ARE, HOW CAN YOU FORCE OTHERS TO BE PART OF YOUR MENTAL AND EMOTIONAL INDECISIVENESS AND CONFUSION, BATTLE WITHIN YOURSELF. THOSE WHO KNOW GOD, KNOW WHO AND WHAT WE ARE SHOULD NOT BE FORCED TO ACCEPT THE UNACCEPTABLE. THANK YOU FOR YOUR CLARIFYING THOUGHT.

      1. VLM

Honey, trans people DO know who and what they are. The problem is, people like YOU are completely, pathologically capable of accepting that YOU don’t get to DECIDE that for anyone but yourself. If you consider our existence to be “unacceptable,” the problem isn’t US.

    2. VLM

And yet, you think they should be catering to the small percentile who insists that they have the right to outlaw the existence of other people because THEY just can’t accept that they don’t have the right to determine anyone else’s identity.

How do you sleep at night?

  7. Go woke go
    Broke. Trying to
    Appeal to a small
Subset while ticking off majority of their customers. Trying to appease people by accepting who they are who from the start could t accept who they are. Interesting.

    1. VLM

Oh, HONEY. I hate to tell you this, but your kind of people are NOT “the majority of their customers.” The majority of Americans SUPPORT the rights of LGBT people to exist and live their lives.

    2. VLM

Oh, HONEY. I hate to tell you, sweetie, but “the majority of their customers” actually are JUST FINE with the existence of people who aren’t cookie cutter clones of your kind of stereotype. So why ARE we expected to cater to YOUR whims?

  8. Ernest Blanchard

This is about competition not politics. For decades all things animation went through Disney. Now with the technology available to all Disney needs to learn how to design and market winning films. Only time will tell if they will succeed.

    1. VLM

      HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAA!

….oh, you seriously do think there were never any other animation studios besides Disney? Oh, HONEY. Sweetie. Darling.

Let me explain to you that Popeye and Looney Tunes and Scooby Doo have NEVER been Disney properties, just as a FEW very FAMOUS examples. There has ALWAYS been competition for Disney. The problem has NEVER been that they “don’t know how to design and market films.” The PROBLEM currently is that they haven’t bothered to DO it, preferring to spend their time and money on theme parks and merchandising and putting in the bare minimum effort to make films.

  9. Untitled Steve Martin animated film

“Mr. President, Frozen has been taken down by the Super Mario Bros movie”

  10. Dlh

For me the issue is that Disney has not made a compelling animated feature for a very long time. Wreck It Ralph being the last one for me. Though I cannot stand Tangled or Frozen think Zootopia is overrated and thinks Toy Story should have stopped after 2.

    1. VLM

Tangled and Frozen are technically very good films and did the job of capturing the demographic audience they were aimed at, ie, children. Your not liking them is not an objective measure of their quality. I will agree with you about the Toy Story franchise; that franchise is beating a dead horse just as much as the Pirates of the Carribean and the Harry Potter franchises are. Zootopia I can’t judge, since I’ve never seen the whole thing all the way through.

I think the real problem is that Disney is trying to go with “safe” films currently, and putting as little as they can into anything that isn’t, and they are not getting the message that “safe” is really “boring.”

So your saying it’s okay for the next generation to date the same. Me personally grew up around it and got away because that wasn’t the life for me. Don’t get me wrong it’s out there but 2yrs -and up shouldn’t think it’s the right way to go….ijs

    1. VLM

See, here’s the thing–just because it’s “not for you” doesn’t mean that it’s somehow “not okay” at all. Yes, absolutely “2 years and up” should be taught that it’s a perfectly acceptable way to go, because IT IS. Furthermore, they ABSOLUTELY should be taught that it’s utterly unacceptable to treat other people like they are less than human just because they don’t agree with them. If you went that route because “it wasn’t for you,” I highly suggest you seek counseling.

My grandson liked Mario Brothers, but I expected it to be better and had trouble staying awake.
My wife and I liked Live Little Mermaid better than the original (especially the singing/songs), but couldn’t convince our grandkids to go. My daughter original like annimated metter than new live one.

When you add inflation into the equation. Frozen is still above the rest. Considering prices have skyrocketed and the dollar has weekend since Covid. It’s an unfair comparison to just account $1 for $1. However, Lion King stands strong. Still leading the pack for over nearly 30 years. Now that’s impressive. If you accounted for inflation… I wonder what it’d really take, to take the King if the Throne.
