If Gunn does this he’s also going to screw himself for later movies if he’s going to continue to use actual comic book stories as a source because he will have to re-arrange a lot of it because he started out with a Batman in his later years who finds out about Damian while Supes is young.

He has already messed up with firing Henry Cavill and keeping the perv

He didn’t fire him you ignorant. If you want someone to blame for that, blame The Rock and WB, the man wasn’t even under any contract, they just tricked him for cameo in order to save their movie (which didn’t work, not even your dear Henry Cavill changed a damn thing) so you can whine like a baby all you want and be miserable for the rest of your life or you could just let it go and move forward. We barely know anything about James Gunn’s new DC but people just love to hate on him for every tiny thing when it’s not exactly how they want it.

People are showing concern because they aren’t able to imagine how it’ll work out if they made the decision.

Frankly, it’s fine since the Teen Titans & Young Justice teams are very popular, it’s a good plan to have a Batman that’s already established a Bat Family.

Otherwise, you have to hit the same familiar beats that everyone’s already seen in live action or animation to get to a Bat Family beyond Batman & Dick Grayson, and that’s kind of “the road already taken.” If you start with Damien, you can easily drop in Spoiler, Orphan, etc & fans of live action & even fans of animation haven’t or have barely seen that part of the Batman mythos

Starting with Damian means we are looking at and older Batman who has already lived through 3 other Robins. But at the same time he wad looking for a younger actor to be Batman. That’s inconsistent. To be honest, the movie suggested above would be the perfect vehicle for Batfleck – he’s the right age for it and it would be a great way to end his run ad the Caped Crusader.

I like your thoughts including a way to end Afleck’s cowled career. And to think, how many of us had reservations ( to outright opposition) when it was “leaked” that he might be the next “Bats”. Now, a goodly amount of us had become accepting of to the extent, that if he can’t remain (for whatever the reason) let’s hope for an great exit (story). As for the Damian character, finding some young boy, to fill the role and trying to tell his story. Bruce/Batman, as a “new father” , is dealing with nuclear power when it comes to his son. It’s not about him controlling him, it’s more to guide and mentor Damian in how to wisely and effectively adapt that “energy” and anger issues, from his assassin training, to his new circumstances moving forward. I’m a great grandpa, almost 7 decades a comic reader and Batman/Dark Knight fan . I guess we can onky wait to see what happens, huh?

It’s not THAT important. Just sit back and enjoy what comes out. Why do you people have to whine like little babies, every time someone makes a movie and it’s not how YOU want it. Just quit crying and look forward to a new story.

This new franchise is for the fans born in the 21st century and growing up with DCAMU. Dads and uncles should really spend their time better looking after their family.

We’ve had Richard Grayson in the 1940s and 1960s series (AD). In the 90s Batman movies AND Titans.
We’ve also had Jason Todd and Tim Drake in Titans (the latter possibly in The Batman as well).

Batgirl in the 60s series, 90s Films, Birds of Prey series and even in Titans. Batwoman and Batwing received decent screen time in Batwoman series.

Carrie Kelly, Stephanie Brown and Harper Row are In Gotham Knights.

All we need is Live Action Damian Wayne, Terry McGinnis and Duke Thomas to complete the set.

To be honest I think James Gunn is single handedly trying to ruin the DC universe.

    1. No_to_race_swapping

He will definitely ruin it if he tries to race swap the characters like all the other failed movies did.

Well now that we have the multiverse, we have many Batmans, Supermans and we have to speculate many Robins as well. Maybe this is a multiverse where Damian is the first Robin.

I believe you can later do origin movies later on! It has been done before with other franchises. So this has no bearing. It will bring new Bat stories that would token too to come to light.

This always trying to reboot is old. Not going to any of these movies anymore. Tired of “here is our hero, here is how he became the hero. Here is our badguy, here’s why he turned bad. They fight some people are lost and hero wins. Yawn 🥱.

  12. J RE

    Wow.
I’m happily surprised to read Inside the Magic covering comic books, even DC.
    Didn’t expect that.
    Kudos!

    Just Nooooo!!

  14. Jeremiah

    Another reboot. Yawn.

I think these companies are missing the mainstream audience who are getting confused with all of these actors running around. Within a few years we’ve had Bale, Batfleck, Pattinson, the Joker universe, the Gotham universe, and the Teen Titans, not to mention Infinite Earths on telly. And now what happens in The Flash, which I’m not going to spoil. That’s about 9 or 10 Batman within a few years and they want to add *more*?

The reason DC is helping kill off the superhero genre is that the multiverse thing confuses mainstream viewers and leads to a feeling of ‘what are the consequences if we can just make a new reality’. I know some people gave up on Marvel because of it and look at how tired that’s getting.
