Saw it last night and it was amazing and the ending took the whole theater into a uproar but we all were screaming for beyond the spiderverse it was fun. that ending did not ruin the film at all.
Even ignoring that it doesn’t change that the movie just ends abruptly. How would you feel if infinity war just ended at the snap? Not the part where people disappeared after it, just Snap and then credits. You’d feel pretty cheated. This movie is the same way. There’s nothing inherently wrong with cliffhangers, but the cliff it chose to hang on wasn’t good enough to be a satisfying ending.
In your opinion and based on the theater full of people I watched it with AND all the reviews and comments I’ve read a very minor and unpopular opinion at that!
Honestly? That would have been amazing. The tension of “who survived?” High risk, but the marketing would have written itself. Butts would have been glued to seats.
The author has a terrible take on this. I found the cliffhanger to have the EXACT right amount of build up and tension. We got a LOT of character development for our two leads and paid off a most of the questions raised. Now we get a whole movie to bring things to a satisfying conclusion and I for one can not wait.
This movie is hands down one of the best movies I’ve seen in recent years and is amazingly beautiful. I’m actually planning on going back and swing it again in the theater!
So a non-conventional ending doesn’t necessarily mean cash grab. Not many people would want to sit through a 4 -5 hour movie. If that what it takes to tell this story.
Whoever wrote this piece obviously didn’t know anything about this movie, because it was always billed as a Part 1 and Part 2. There is no “potential next movie”… Part 2 comes out next summer. This was always the plan. It’s fine dude.
How any fan can feel “cheated” by this movie is beyond me. The crew gave us a film that was nothing short of extraordinary after a couple years of sub par super hero movies. I paid to see a movie and got an experience that I had been longing for for years. They don’t owe me anything. I’ll be there opening weekend for beyond next year. I can’t wait!
You’d have some hype sure, but hype always fades. Not only that you’d be missing the full weight of the moment because you didn’t see the aftermath. We needed to see those people disappear. We needed to see Thanos win. But let’s get back to the topic at hand. As odd and counter intuitive as it might sound, I think the cliffhanger could have worked if it happened sooner. Like imagine if instead of ending on Gwen getting the group together to save miles, what if instead it ended on him meeting his evil doppelganger? Or even earlier than that? What if it ended with miles glitching out after he’s escaped and then realizing he’s in the wrong universe? You’d still know he’s in danger and you’d be wondering how he’s gonna get out of it. That would have been satisfying end point with a solid pay off. All the extra stuff like Gwen resolving her daddy issues and getting the group back together could have been saved for the next film. it stretches out the run time and gives build up with no pay off.
I genuinely enjoyed the way it ended. No problem with it at all. In the same way Tolkien wrote the lord of the rings trilogy as “one story,” it builds up so much for the finale that I’m sure it’s going to be absolutely amazing, and it makes it feel like all three movies are one continuous thing instead of being separate, like so many sequels are these days.

Not accurate at all. Every fan I’ve talked to or been in a theater with loved the ending and is excited for what’s to come in March.

The first trailer literally said the film was the first of a two parter. Just admit like many, you forgot that going in. The cliffhanger works.
