If Sea World closed because they CHOSE to then they owe rent but since they were FORCED to close by the city or County then NO, they shouldn’t have to pay back rent…They DID NOT choose to have no income. The City or County forced that on them during the Scamdemic.

  2. Shame on San Diego. Sea World does so much for the animal environment. The city should be paying Sea World to educate the youth and foster good habits in treating sea life. I’ve been there and saw all the wonderful things they do. And during the Covid crisis, it’s the least that the city could do to help with the upkeep of all the animals and pay their caregivers , while people couldn’t travel or visit in large crowds.

As a former Sea World employee I am confident that they are not broke. While yes they were closed during the course of the pandemic Seaworld management laid off most of the staff with the exception of Animal Care , Park Operations and Security. They saved millions in employee salaries and benefits. To be fair California kept ALL theme parks closed during the pandemic no one made money but no other parks other than the zoo had to pay to feed their animals. I think the city should reduce the amount due by half and not bother to sue the park for the full amount. If they did that it would probably resolve the problem
