No, Disney is allowed to enforce or waive those requirements, either proactively or retroactively, with or without justification, as they wish. Not enforcing a copyright does not weaken it in the future.

What is problematic for me is it is a Disney movie. In the past Disney has stayed clear of politics and movies contained traditional family values where whatever your belief system was, you were not offended. Who would have thought that Disney’s mission statement in movies from one of the heads of Disney films, would be including as “I was adding queerness wherever I could”, clearly trying to influence, and not stay neutral. A Disney movie… They have the right to do it. And there is nothing wrong with it… I have no issues, but they knew some people would be offended and they did it anyway.
