I wish Disney could call DeSantis’ bluff and move out of Florida. The Governor is so full of himself and the decisions are NOT in the best interest whose tax dollars fund his ridiculous decisions. I am embarrassed to say I am a Florida resident for many reasons but this is a main one. I stand for “Don’t Say DeSantis” as our state motto.

    1. Bloop

DudBlandis has nothing other than Disney to pillory

      1. Beth Wright

Nice nickname! I call him Ron DeSatan myself. 😉

        1. Alfred

All Disney had to do was stick to entertainment. Why did they have to get political?

          1. Linda

            Exactly!!

          2. For sure. Disney evil company

          3. Timmy

Elaborate as to why you believe Disney is evil? Please sir?

          4. Disney has become another woke mess and I am in favor of Governor Desantis pushing back on their excesses. They certainly don’t

          5. Joe

One comment their now former CEO said about ‘Don’t Say Gay’ Bill is worth all of this and your very fragile feelings are so hurt that you support millions of dollars in tax dollars to fight with the state’s largest employer? Yeah, makes sense to me too.

          6. Mira

            Exactly

          7. John

            Can you define “Woke”?

          8. Maureen

Alert to and concerned about social injustice and discrimination.

          9. Sheilbe

Without Disney Florida has nothing..It will then be an only place for senior living..Remember Disney does kick back to the state…You really need to get you’re ducks in a row..Before you say you hope DeSantis wins..Your property will be worth nothing in the longrun..Revenue into the state will be nothing and the shoot em up policy will be forever strong and also 6 month abortion..Who would want to live in Florida where there are no freedoms..Education now sucks big time..

          10. Amie

They and all the associated businesses they support make up about 1/3 of the taxes paid into this state every year.

Woke? Someone please tell me how the Republican created term became such a general label for everything Democratic? It doesn’t even come close to what Dems Stand for. Just a term for the minions to use

          14. Craig

What is wrong is the anti american republican party trying to control what we think say and do that is a play out of putin’s playbook that is why Trump was a utter disgrace as is DeSantis and all Republicans in America I’m proud to be woke. If you support antiwoke policies then you sir are a dumb piece of crap who has no place in America

          15. Carol

‘Woke’ a word no one was using except to say they woke up until some idiot used it this way. Now everyone uses it, republicans and democrats. So hasn’t it lost its meaning, except as a catchphrase?

          16. Serena

Their “excesses” help support Florida’s economy. Life is difficult enough without politicians trying to dictate who people love. Compare this to racial inequality of the 60s.
DeSantis and his cronies will be on the wrong side of history.

Meanwhile, the real issues that Floridians are concerned about goes in the trash.

I guess some miserable people just want to make others as miserable as they are.

Bravo to Disney for taking a stand against oppression.

          17. Patti

Very well said. Thank you for speaking for the majority of Americans. Desantis has no possibility of winning the presidency and the people of Florida will suffer.

          18. Lester

Disney hires a lot of gay transgender people. That’s the world of entertainment. Disney got extreme pushback from employees.

          19. Nellie

Sores is involved, pushing gay lifestyle on everyone. I won’t buy or go to anything that’s pushing gay rights.
I am not against gay people. but don’t push your lifestyle on me and I won’t push my Christian faith on you. Glad my grandkids went to Christian school. Obama defunded Christian non profit and put school out of business. Prayers for our country

          20. SONDRA JOYCE

i’M NOT “SIR”, BUT I WANT TO GIVE MY ANSWER WHY DISNEY IS EVIL……….MAYBE IT TAKES PLACE MORE IN CALIF. THAN FLORIDA, BUT DISNEY BEGAN EXPOSING A LOT OF “SEX” IN MOVIES, ETC. A LONG TIME AGO…i COULDN’T BELIEVE SOME OF THE THINGS i WAS SEEING ON SCREENS. MR. WALT DISNEY WOULD TURN OVER IN HIS GRAVE. LATELY THO, DISNEY HAS BEEN SHOWING NOTHING BUT CUTE, SWEET, NICE THINGS “FOR THE CHIDREN”. i WISH NONE OF THIS HAD NEVER HAPPENED HOWEVER, BECAUSE I THINK IT IS HURTING DESANTIS!

          21. Amie

You obviously have not read much about Walt Disney. He was as evil as they come. His movies do not at all line up with his character.

          22. Farman200100@yahoo.com@gmail.com

I would gladly pay your way back to 1865, and your sharecropper life

          23. Todd Wynn

            Sondra needs to get laid.

          24. Sherry

You need to work for Disney. You’d fit right in with the other perverts.

          25. Pookie

CALM DOWN SIR!!! THERE’S NO NEED TO YELL!!! EVERYBODY CAN SEE YOU JUST FINE!!! I do agree, though. DeSantis is nothing without Disneys money. Same goes for the state of Florida. Without Disney, it’s nothing but a geriatric pit that even God tries to wipe out every hurricane season.

            “DON’T SAY DESANTIS!” 😁

          26. Phoebe

What he is doing with the reedy District has nothing to do with the movies Disney puts out. Our economy in Orlando depends on Disney. It would be a sinkhole without Disney.

          27. Alan

Hahahahaaa…. I find the mentally challenged comments hilarious. You must be nearly brain dead, huh? Disney is too sexy for ya, huh???? LOL

          28. Ann

I hope Disney shuts down, even if only temporary. The amount of taxes and huge amount of job losses( i e unemployment claims) might just bring that goof to his knees.

          29. Gu

Has DeSantis been to Disney with his family?
            Leave Disney alone

          30. Junebug

He was married at Disney he married at the Grand Floridian

          31. Junebug

They are allowed their right to FREE SPEECH just like all of us. They are allowed free speech it says so in the U.S. CONSTITUTION

          32. Robert

            Yes and the consequences thereof

          33. Timm

If I was Disney:, I would close DW & start to begin moving mow. Georgia offers 1000 for the park

          34. jp

Wait, the consequence of free speech should be government retaliation??

That is exactly how repressive governments work. Luckily it’s a blatant violation of the 1st Amendment.

          35. It’s not the “government, it’s the people. I’m sure you can’t understand that.

          36. Katherine

What DeSantis is doing to Disney currently is in direct violation of freedom of speech (which is protected from unjust persecution) and as an individual you should be as worried as businesses over how this will effect your ability to speak out freely against the government.

For the record Freedom of Speech guarantees protection against retaliation from government entities when a person (or corporation) speaks out against said government entity.

Many people mistakenly believe freedom of speech means you can run off at the mouth anywhere without consequence, however the US Constitution only protects against running off at the mouth about the government. AND in return the government can’t take retaliatory measures.

Unconstitutional retaliation may include things such as ceasing your special tax district, canceling building contracts, or going on television to slandering your name (when they are not doing these things across the board, for example there are something like 170 special tax districts in Florida and DeSantis has only shut down one, Disney’s. There for Disney has grounds for their lawsuit).

          37. ianimal

Consequences, such as boycotts by private citizens who disagree with their opinions. However, blatant government persecution that DeSantis has implicitly said is a result of their statements is a textbook violation of the 1st Amendment of the Constitution. Corporations are people, right?

          38. Dan

            I agree!

          39. Tim

            Brainwashed fool.

          40. Timm

Are you calling me a fool?

          41. Timmy

            I will ask you again!!
Are you calling me a Brainwasked fool? It is a simple Yes or No question?

          42. Ann

Agreed. I have been saying this over and over. The entertainment business should do their jobs and stay out of politics. They are here to entertain, not push their views and agendas. I am not just talking about Disney; I am taking about all entertainment.
Everyone is so upset over what they.are calling ” the Don’t say Gay” Bill. I don’t understand. The bill just ensures that PARENTS has a right to say what schools should be teaching K-4th grade students. They should be teaching kids reading, writing, arithmetic, colors, etc. They don’t need to be taught gender identity, or anything to do with how they may or may not be who they think they are. That, believe it or not, is the decision and responsibility of the kids parents. We were in 8th grade before we had sex education and that was still with parents permission. No permission; no sex ed class. The focus should be on teaching basics like Language, Spelling, Science, Social Studies, History, Math, Reading, etc. Students needs this more than anything. When students reach 18 years old and are considered adults; then they can study, make decisions, etc about who they are and what they want to do or not do with their bodies.
I am sorry, but kids under 18 are too young to understand any of this, which is why parents have to fight to have a say about what is being taught to their kids.
            Done being on a soapbox.

          43. Carolyn Allen

Kids these days know a lot more than people give them credit for. Probably could actually teach the parents something. By and large they end up witnessing adults make jackasses of themselves and stirring pots that are not as immediately important as clean water, clean air, good healthcare and affordable housing. Many times a child will have questioned their sexuality long before parents realize it, and hide it because of the hypocrisy and taboo factors in this country of freedom. Yes as parents it’s our prerogative to raise and educate our kids but we can’t pretend that the world outside of our homes doesn’t exist, unless we keep our kids in a bubble. As far as DeSantis is concerned, his Napoleanic obsession with power is dangerous, non productive for the citizens of Florida, and an abuse of authority. I lived in Florida for 6years,thought of retiring there, but the political atmosphere alone is toxic and depressing. It’s embarrassing that the elected official has a personal hard-on that a corporation bucked HIM. I wonder WHAT a microscopic examination of HIS closet would expose? My experience and observations throughout the years has eventually proven that the ones who scream the loudest and profoundly, are the ones who don’t want you to look closely at THEM. DeSantis’ beef with DIsney is a mask, that is hiding and diverting attention from his true intentions. Floridians would do well to rid themselves of him as soon as the election cycle hits, and this ENTIRE country would do well to NOT take its eyes off of a wannabe HEAD “SOLDIER” masquerading as someone for “the peoples.

          44. Patti

            Well stated, thank you.

          45. Rachel

You are incredibly ignorant. All businesses have a right to speak their mind regarding any issue they consider to be important and most businesses support diversity because they know that they draws in skilled employees who care about what their employer’s values are. As for the “Don’t say gay bill” you are also ignorant to that fact that this has already been expanded to high school and college campuses. A 14 year old is less ignorant of the real world than you are.

          46. Phoebe

You may want to read what the current sex Ed does per age group. They start on elementary school telling children their body is theirs and that no one outside their parents has a right to touch their bodies. That they should only allow anyone to touch them if their parents are present. It teaches fifth grade girls about menstruation. Our parents never taught us that, thank God the school did.in senior high school it discusses safe sex, something else most parents don’t teach their children. If someone doesn’t want any of that taught to their kids, then sign a paper saying so. Teaching little children to protect their bodies and do NOT let anyone touch them was a great step forward. It’s age appropriate. A little 10-11 year old girl starting her period, great chance it will happen in school, where they spend the majority of their time. In the old days, little girls were terrified and the.hideously ridiculed. O one was teaching kids about actual “sex” or being gay or any of that. It’s just the latest BS this governor has dragged up. All because his feelings were hurt. Disney has every right to speak up on behalf of its employees, which it did. Employees were very upset that Disney kept mum initially. There are not just plenty of gay employees, Disney is one of the most visited places for members of the LGBTQ where they are treated as equals and where everyone goes to see a magical, world. The employees threatened a massive walk, out. Disney did the right thing.

          47. Raphael St. James

Florida has problems not being tackled by Desatan. phosphogypsum is about to be approved to be used in their roadways. Not only will people be inundated by brain eating amoeba from the pesticide industry, but now they’re going to be inhaling toxic particles coming off their roadways and floating into water bodies. The governor is the last one remaining to approve it. He probably will, cause he doesn’t care about important matters.

          48. Del

I agree Disney should call his bluff and move to another state that would be more appreciative of the tourism money that would flow. I say Disney should shake the dust off their feet move and leave the rest to God. Let DeSantis and all his followers see their property value plummet and get swallowed up by sinkholes and rising sea levels. I honestly thought of moving to Florida but DeSantis’ and Trump’s blind followers have seriously turned me off. I say let them have their cake and choke on it.

          49. Ger

Because they have the RIGHT to stand for people as Christian’s are suppose to do!

          50. Don Kinsey

But Disney DIDN’T stand for people, they fell for political grandstanding that wasn’t true. I don’t condone what DeSantis is doing, but Disney should got it’s fact straight before jumping into politics.

          51. Bob

Which is then up for the market to punish or not punish… not the government. This is a clear violation of the first amendment… moreso, the GOP has awakened a sleeping giant. Do they EVER think Disney is going to be caught in this position again? The amount of money to buy candidates in Florida will happen and while Florida is light red state now, Disney will put the money into Old School Jeb Bush like GOP and Mod/Conservative Dems to make sure they’d aren’t ever messed with again.

          52. Chris

How is the state wanting to check h their systems of transportation for safety a violation of their first ammendment?

          53. Matt C

All of DeSantis’s actions have been clearly retaliatory. If this proceeds to trial, which it likely won’t, the government will lose. Because DeSantis has been all over the news leaving proof that he’s been targeting Disney because of its criticism of the “Don’t Say Gay” bill (I know it doesn’t say that in the bill text, and also the ACA doesn’t say Obamacare in the text). That is blatantly illegal. If DeSantis had done his retaliation quietly and not left evidence that all but proves his motivation, Disney would have a much tougher time proving the illegality of his retaliation. What will likely happen is Disney/DeSantis will ping pong in the courts for years until DeSantis is termed out and the next administration quietly settles with Disney.

          54. Kris

LOL! Chris, that is not the main reason why DeSantis is doing this.

Personally, I am of the opinion that Disney needs to move. No point in staying when you are not welcome.

          55. Phoebe

It’s retaliation. He;s violating their first amendment rights by retaliating them. I’ve lived here forever and have never heard of issues with the monorail system. Ever

          56. Patti

The state will now be responsible to provide services for maintaining roads, transpiration and highways. This will add a great deal to the taxes the people of Florida will now have to pay. Disney maintained far above what the state will ever do.

          57. Deb

Good point! That is exactly what I said too, in addition to the other amusement parks stayed out of it and they don’t have the same self governing authority that Disney did. Disney needs to have oversight and also need to pay the same taxes as everyone else.

          58. Patti

Disney pays their taxes to the state. The arrangement was made to encourage the mass amount of funds that Disney would bring to Florida. Look it up. They do pay a massive amount of tax. If they leave then Florida sinks.

          59. hagnaB

DuhScrotus is just looking for publicity. Leave Disney out of your BS DumScrotis!

          60. Why isnt desatan going after the ‘Villages’ they have the same self governing system as DW///the Villages has senior citizens who are mostly republican……the offenses are disgusting…besides banning books…being anti vax instructing the legislature what laws he wants..how did we get so far into caves? If he does try to get the Republican nomination…I will love watching the debates!!!!!!!

          61. Phoebe

He doesn’t mess with the villages specifically because he wants their support in the election. He is too stupid to realize how many of the people in the Villages have stock in December and his decisions affect their pocketbooks. They care more about their money than anything. They also aren’t stupid, they know it could also happen to them and without Disney Florida would probably have to institute an income tax, one of the reasons those in the Villages live here, no tax.

          62. Patti

Well stated. Desatin has only gone after Disney and none of the other tax shelters in the state.

          63. Deb

Disney should not be receiving any special privileges, if that is the case then Universal, SeaWorld, etc. should all have the same privileges. Next freedom of speech is correct however when you use your voice to push a political agenda that you mislead the true meaning of then there is no issue in calling you out. The bill does not have anything to do with Don’t say Gay, it talks about young children and being taught basically sex education and that should be left up to the parents, not the school board and definitely not left up to the unions.

          64. Amie

They are given special privileges because they, and the industries associated with them, pay about 1/3 of our tax revenues. Guess you want to pay more taxes if they close down, right? I don’t!

          65. Ann

            Agreed.

          66. Liz

Good the pedophile grooming is over for Disney they do not run our state thank you governor DeSantis for standing up for what is right 👍

          67. YOU got it!

            Thanks!

          68. Tim

Sick, clueless and brainwashed is no way to go through life, hon.

          71. Todd Wynn

No, you cannot s*c* his d*ck, Liz.

          72. Katherine

If you are worried about pedophile’s perhaps you should be looking much closer to home than Disney. Maybe you should look at your local church or boy scout troop or any place where adults have power and access over your children. Disney in most cases is far removed from their consumers, they can participate in indoctrination should that be their perogative however grooming requires direct access of individualadults to individualchildren.

          73. RJ Mack

I don’t consider it political to stand up for human rights and oppose fascism and bigotry.

          74. Don Kinsey

Do you even know what policy Disney was supposedly opposing? DeSantis signed a bill that prevents schools from teaching sexuality to five, six, and seven year olds. If you look at polling, the overwhelming majority of parents agree with him.

Show how any of that is “Fascist or Bigotry”?

          75. Kathy Klingsten

People who hate Desantis never have the facts.

          76. Tim

            You are absolutely clueless.

          77. Matt Chambers

Basically no one has advocated for teaching sexual orientation or gender identity to K-3rd graders and I don’t recall any organized school curriculum that did so. Disney came out against the bill because they have an army of lawyers that read the bill and understood how it could be used. This overwhelming majority of parents you speak of, on the other hand, didn’t read the bill and clearly don’t understand that the bill takes rights AWAY from parents and gives it to the STATE. And the overwhelming majority does not in fact exist. The highest totals I found among groups that supported it were 58% and 57% and that was baby boomers and GenXers. Millenials who actually have kids in primary school did not majority support it (47%, a mere plurality).

The problem is not that law’s supposed focus on K-3rd grade. The problem is the law gives the state power to restrict sexual orientation and gender identity discussion in ALL grades because of its loose language:

            > 3. Classroom instruction by school personnel or third parties on sexual orientation or gender identity may not occur in kindergarten through grade 3 **or in a manner that is not age appropriate or developmentally appropriate for students in accordance with state standards.**

There is no universe in which that small paragraph equates to more parental choice! Parents have the most control over content at the local level with the PTA, principal, and school boards. For example, suppose you have a majority of parents in Tampa that want their school district to introduce discussions about sexual orientation in 8th grade. The state can shut that down by using the “Don’t Say Gay” law to mandate against that. How is that more parental choice? Sure seems like stealth bigotry to me (enabled by parents that don’t pay attention to what their legislatures are doing).

          78. Phoebe

They agree because he has fooled them into thinking schools are teaching sexuality and grooming children. Read floridas current education about sex in the classrooms. Telling five year olds their body is theirs, don’t let anyone touch them except for their parents. Teaching 10-12 yr old girls about menstruation. Teaching safe sex in high school. No one is teaching “ sex” to kids.

          79. Patti

Desantis has upped the bill to include high school and colleges. How many parents are completely incapable of providing good homes to their kids and they are now able to dictate what your kids will learn. I prefer people with education leading our education facilities.

          80. Right!

Now go out and mutilate some kids!

Seems to be your type of thing!

          81. Dash

They didn’t get political. Well no more then they have been for decades. They were just standing up for a large portion of their workers.

          82. Chris

What large portion of workers? It was about a bill to teach sex to a first grader.

          83. Todd Wynn

The Bible teaches lots about sex. Ban the Bible!

          84. Phoebe

Have you read Florida’s by laws about education and what is taught at the first grade level? Another clueless person.

          85. Patti

What proof was provided to the voters of Florida the any of the accusations were actually occurring. Did the people of Florida vote on any of Desantis’s bills?

          86. Frank

The guy did not agree with a bill. Not a big feel unless someone has an out of control
Ego and thin skin. This is not going to play well for DiSantis in or out ofcFL.

          87. Kethie

Why get political? Probably b/c Disney leaders personally know transgender people and see their pain. When I made a career change 25 years ago I had no idea it would put me into a position in which transgender people would turn to ME for support; I knew nothing about them. In recent years I’ve sat with them as they cry, and I’ve encouraged them to calm the hatred they feel towards their unwanted body parts. For politicians to attack these suffering people? It’s like attacking Bambi – they’re that vulnerable and that loveable. The political cruelty directed towards them by DeSantis & other politicians has driven up their abysmally high suicide rate. The transgender folks I’ve met do not have the emotional resources to endure the rejection and very personal-feeling attacks aimed at them for simply existing. Laws aimed against transfolks have life & death implications.

          88. JK

The law wasn’t aimed at them. As stated above, the law restricted teaching children up through third grade about sexuality in public schools. Why is protecting our children all of a sudden WRONG? It’s not. As a Floridian and a parent, I agreed with the law. Disney spoke out about it when they didn’t even know what it was for!

          89. Kathy Klingsten

Lol….you need to listen to their workers then!

          90. Dan

Why are parents up in arms about protecting their children when it comes to sex education but refuse to speak up about gun control as children are being murdered by assault weapons daily?

          91. Annie

            Excellent point

          92. Rich

So true 8 people in Texas. They are so luck a cop was there for something else at the time. The death toll would have been much highet

          93. Patti

            Perfect statement

          94. And yet 50 or more regret the decision later in life. Give the kids the time to find their own way. As a Floridian I hope Disney his the road. There I absolutely no reason corporations sould be deciding school policy! This is an extreme decision that should not be taken lightly at an age you cannot even make a legal contract. Sounds like you and quite a few others are looking for new victims!

          95. And yet 50 or more regret the decision later in life. Give the kids the time to find their own way. As a Floridian I hope Disney his the road. Sounds like you and quite a few others are looking for new victims!

          96. Should say “50 percent”

          97. Amie

You do realize that if Disney and all their associated businesses (hotels, restaurants, etc.) go away, we will have to make up the 1/3 of our tax revenue they all pay for us? You must love paying higher taxes.

          98. Jmj

            Ok
            Now
What does that have to do with Disney’s bill to not
            Have
5, 6, and 7 year olds having sexual meyters taught in school.?
The people in Burbank at Disney was getting involved in another state’s laws.
            Wait. What?!
What did you want the governor of the state to do with these corporate bullies?
            Lay down?

          99. Joe, Pettross

To use your very own words, the people that DeSantis are trying to protect or “vulnerable“. Your words not mine. It’s 2023 not 1953. Nobody cares if you’re gay, just leave the children alone.

          100. Janet

To support their staff and welcome all guests. It’s the human thing to do. Not political.

          101. Scott Anderson

Michael Eisner is a leftist and couldn’t resist risking the destruction of shareholder equity to advance his personal political agenda with company assets that are not his to jeopardize. It’s the same thing with most media executives.

          102. Miguel A Guantes

All they said was that they didn’t agree with the governor. Desantis is a pity little man and bully.

          103. Kitty

I don’t think Disney got political at all. DeSatan is the fool who is trying to become a dictator, just like his idiotic mentor named trump.

          104. Harvey

Disney opposed ” the don’t say gay law” on behalf of their 90,000 employees. They cared about the future of their diverse employees. Disney according to SCOTUS, has the same 1st amendment rights to free speech as you do.

          105. Charles Pryor

Each individual of the 90,000 have their right to free speech. They have their state representatives to also stick up for their desired wishes! Disney is going to end up like Bud Light , and AB!

          106. ElroyElroy

If you really think people are gonna stop buying bud light because of that transgender commercial you’re wrong. So what if they have a transgender person shopping at Walmart on a commercial are you all not going to shop there anymore, I don’t think so! I don’t condone gay or transgender or any of that but I’m not gonna make it my mission to personally attack them either.. everyone keeps talking about this woke idea.. bringing out and talking about things that hurt other people is not woke, it’s the right thing to do.

          107. Joe

If you were going to refer to it as the “don’t say gay bill“, at least have the decency to refer to it as the “don’t say gay to a child bill“

          108. Mike

They didn’t get political. Sorry you’re triggered because people have rights.

          109. Tom

Why can’t they comment on anything they want. 1st amendment. The Gov. Has serious issues. Not good ones

          110. Kathy Klingsten

            Agreed 💯

          111. Chelsey

That’s right! The moment any Corporation of higher rank gets political, they are bound to be cancelled. Welcome to the United States…

          112. Rob

I hope they move to SC!r

          113. Patat

DeSantis is, simply put, unfit to be Florida’s governor. He’s like a petulant child who wants everything to be what he wants, never mind what the citizens of Florida want. He won by a large margin because Democratic turnout was below 48% or near that in the 2020 election. There was no mandate, but he’s too arrogant and self-centeted to realize it. Long story short, he’s a total idiot and I hope Disney buries him!

          114. No

What sort of degenerate and followers would so self absorbed to attack Disney ? An icon of decades for billions. Time to take out the real trash. What’s next ? Christmas ?

          115. Ken

Disney paid Taxs like everyone else and have been a big contributor to Republican party for years. They have a voice like you do. I am reminded every day we are Americans and protected under Constitution of
freedom of speech. Disney Express it constitution right to speak out to something that they disagree with Ron Desantis and now are being punished. Sound very unamerican to me.

          116. Chris

Free speech never meant free of the consequences of.that speech. No one is denying their right.

          117. Matt Chambers

Free speech does mean freedom of consequences from the government for that speech. That is the entire point of the first amendment’s mention of speech and press!

It does not mean freedom of consequences from private parties.

          118. Miriam

If corporations are people that can give billions to the party/ candidate of their choice, why don’t they have the right to free speech too? Why is he so thin skinned that one criticism causes him to go scorched earth on the biggest employer in the state?

          119. Jon Van Leuven

Sure. Same to any company that donates to any campaign. Sounds realistic.

          120. Juan K

Because Disney has employees who would be harmed by the laws the governor was promoting. They have right since they bring major dollars to the state and employ many. Disney is the only thing next to retirement FL is known.

          121. Jillferg

Remember freedom of speech? Remember the constitution? Disney didn’t get political, it got AMERICAN!

          122. Scott

This is what happens when a company that was started to enrich the family goes woke and decides to get evolved in politics and stands up for pedifials and deviants instead of our children! I always loved Disney and have spent many vacations there but once they changed from what Walt Disney stood for is when my “BUBBLE” disappeared. Thank you Gov. DeSantis for sticking up for our children and doing your best to try to keep Disney in line with what Walt wanted it to be!

          123. Chs

Ron made it political. Disney has workers of all kind and if they want to STAND with a good population of people that work for them they CAN. They as an independent company have a right to their own political views just like you and me.

          124. Sarah Morgan

So you’re OK with DeSantis shutting down Disney, making thousands of people jobless (you know what happens then, right? You now have thousands of extra people vying for for the jobs you want) and forgoing all the revenue they bring to the state. All because DeSantis is having a tantrum, because Disney didnt drop to their knees for him. Do you have any idea how taxes will rise for all the people who live around Disney if he gets his way.. He will not be happy until he takes away everyone’s rights (except the one that allowes any maniac to own an assault rifle). He’s out of control
You need to do some research before jumping on the DeSantis against Disney train.

          125. Chris

Disney defended its employees who are affected by FL’s bigoted and discriminatory anti-LBGTQ+ laws, that’s why. And DeSantis singled out Disney for the special retaliatory treatment.

          126. Randy McCloud

Because this is STILL America…we STILL reside in a DEMOCRACY, and CAPITALISM, is STILL what our monetary system is based on…despite what your “governor” thinks.

          127. Hank

Because the state’s politics affect their business and employees. Why did DeSantis have to make people’s personal lives political?

          128. James Lebo

The state has the right to inspect any other transportation infrastructure in the state why not Disney?

          129. Robert

And all the stupid governor needed to do was his job. He stared a culture war on free speech and freedom in America.

          130. Pj

            Really? Seriously!

          131. Michael Schmidt

All DeSantis had to do was his job. Which does NOT include retribution for expressing an opinion.

          132. Deb Thorogood

De Santis just needs to do one thing
address Florida’s economic needs. Bingo, thank you Disney! Had it under control, Florida’s greatest income producer, jobs provider, and provider of family entertainment since 1967. Then comes DeSantis. The Destroyer of Women’s Rights, schools, and now family entertainment! He thinks this will get him a shortcut to the White House? We’ll think again. You have messed with kids and adults entertainment. You have destroyed
            Florida’s
Education and teachers and continuing to do this is a perfect example of why Floridians should not be one of those states that sends you to yhe White House, and certainly not allow you to stay as Governor while running your campaign for President. Wanna run, step down like everyone else…no cushions.
            HOPEFULLY
Floridians and the rest of America gets it right and
            elects another
            for the good of
            our Country!

          133. Amie

I agree that they should have remained neutral and just done what they do, but they have every right to speak out under the 1st Amendment, right?

          134. J

            You mailed it!

          135. Annie V

From what I have read Disney tried to stay out of the politics. They were pushed by Floridians to make a statement. They did and the hope soon to be out of politics governor was angered. Although he enjoyed Disney for his own wedding he flipped on them making himself look more egotistical. The damage he does in our schools is duly noted by the mental health escalation of the youth in our state. I am a mental health professional for children and a child advocate. The current governor is doing damage to the children and livelihood of those in our state by his blatant attacks that he will desert when he runs for other offices and attempts to derail our country.

          136. V Clemons

DeSantis wants his name to be famous. He’s the guy that’s trying to ruin Disney and central Florida. Plus, he’s digging a hole deeper than he can emerge. Hasn’t he ever heard “Don’t bite the hand that feeds you.” ???

          137. Joe

Maybe ask the conservative Supreme Court and Citizens United?

          138. Sil

Because desantis is a deranged man that had to pick a fight with the main source of income for our state

Jobs and tourism tax. If Disney closes. Where does he think we will make up this revenue. It will affect all the Florida residents!!!!!

          139. Sporter

Because the REPUBLICANS gave corporations the power of freedom of speech. It didn’t used to be that way. So Disney voiced an opinion, that was in the company’s best interests. DeSatan got mad and now here we are.

          140. Katherine

Because their hand was forced (something I think Republican lawmakers where hoping for). The gist of what they said was “to express our disappointment and concern that if the legislation [don’t say gay] becomes law, it could be used to unfairly target gay, lesbian, non-binary and transgender kids and families.” Which is a fairly benign statement of opposition. Some might even call it weak.

It was also said under pressure from employees who wanted them to take a stance (and as the largest employer in the state NOT having a stance on something that adversely affects employees is NOT an option).

Unfortunately in the America that we live in, one cannot be the largest anything AND be non-political, that simply defies the reality of being (a person or entity) in the United States.

(Willingness to jump in to politics is a separate issue).

          141. David

            Every corporate gets political.

          142. Exacty. And some fools here don’t understand the issue!

          143. Tom

Disney did NOT get political. They made a statement of support for their employees and visitors. That was turned into a political football by DiSantimonious! He has now repeatedly attacked the number one tax payer in the state. I hope that Disney Drops Florida. Live with the ramifications of your bullying! It’s what Supporters of DiSatan deserve!

          144. Julie

The state if Florida needs to get their governor under control. There were no problems with Disney until DeSantulis decided he didn’t like them. If Disney leaves Gloruda, it will be the taxpayers who lose.

          145. Richard

They just exercised their 1st amendment rights and Reichstag Ronnie got his BVDs in a wad & had to escalate the issue!
            Good for Disney!

          146. Bonnie

All they did was refuse to give DeSantis any more more money because they didn’t support his beliefs and the man/child got his toosh in the wringer.

          147. Billy

Dumb Desatan needs to not stick his nose in Walt Disney Worlds business. He screwed up Florida and now Walt Disney. Voters should file to empeach him. Another Donald Trump.

          148. Giuseppe

Wasn’t it DeSantis that reached out to Disney first!?

          149. Archie

They didn’t get political. Just supporting their 70,000 employees.

          150. JR

It’s called Freedom of speech! It’s in the Constitution!

          151. Christopher

So you don’t believe in the 1st Amendment? When did it become ok for the government to punish citizens for voicing their opinion? It sounds like you need to pack your crap and move to Russia where people like you belong. I can’t wait until the courts rule against the Meatball and invalidate all the legislative acts designed to penalize Disney.

          152. Kristina

Well because it was not political. Disney is a company, an equal opportunity employer. As you might remember there was the Civil Rights Movement. If they are not inclusive to everyone, then there’s Civil Rights violation, federal law enforcement investigation, and lawsuits. Not to mention that people from all over the world come to Disney World, and they really don’t share in Republicans views. As company Disney has to maintain a united front on what is deemed fundamental human rights according to the world, not just Florida. Disney operates in a lot of different countries as a theme park. Those parks internationally do much better than the American theme parks. Shutting down Disney World here in America only hurts Americans, and really hurts Florida.

          153. Mimsy

This is ridiculous! Disney employees may be the ones hurt the most, corporations have the right to voice their opinions regarding decisions made by their government! Ron needs to shut up and go sit down somewhere! I’m staying as far away from Florida as I can!

          154. Skycop

I agree. They’ve become too big for their britches. Overpriced, overcrowded and the quality has deteriorated. They got a dead that no company ever should have. Let them go. I won’t miss them.

          155. Leftists infest & destroy everything they touch. They’re quest to force their claptrap & politicos is their 1 goal. It’s a sickness

          156. Elsa

            Grammar, please.

          157. Ron

Disney seems to have established an autonomous country inside Florida; immune to local norms and control. Does anyone think this is good???

          158. Mindy

Amen to that! Fascism is alive and well in the state of Flori-duh!Somebody with a loud voice needs to put DeSatan in his place!

          159. Janie

First Amendment?and supporting communities of patrons and employees affected by that megalomaniac’s own personal “Fear Factor”, would be my guess.
Disney could shut down, seasonally causing UI payments for months…but they don’t. DeSantis thinks he’s a bad ass. He’s really just a small fish in a MUCH bigger ocean.

          160. Elsa

            Human rights are not politics.

          161. Phoebe B.

Because their employees had planned a massive walkout if Disney did not speak out against the Don’t say Gay law. It’s protecting its thousands of employees.

          162. Alan

Why did Disney exercise it’s right to free speech??? Because this is America and they have the right too. And Gov DipShyt can suck it.

          163. Nannyred

Because they stood up for what was right for their employees as well as their guests. Keeping quiet when something is wrong means agreement. Personally, I’m glad they stood for what they believed in; wish more businesses did the same.

          164. Edgar Damas

Disney did not go political instead they “expressed” their view . Under the US constitution any citizens have the right to freedom of speech which is what democracy is all about .

Not sure if you have ever experience living under communist party where anyone is subject to prosecution for exercising their right . Mr desantis actions are exactly what communist do . Please refer to the US constitution and also do research on communist countries .

          165. John

Because this is America and it’s their right
Especially to speak out against this fascist Governor

          166. Babahoho

Because they want all to feel welcome visiting their parks. The more visitors, more jobs and tax money for the state. Disney by far is the largest employer and tax generator for the state of Florida. It’s a very long shot, but if they decide to cot their losses and leave, catastrophic would be a gross understatement for the state.

          167. Jude

As citizens of Florida they have every right to express an opinion. The Gov has NO right to retaliate on an organization or person who exercises their right to freedom of speech.

        2. Cynthia Jantz

DeSantis is not satanic, Disney corporate ideologues are the satanic ones! DeSantis stands up for truth! Disney Woke corporate leaders are doing Satan’s bidding!

          1. Colleen

I am praying for you. May God open your eyes to your ignorance

          2. Elsa

            I’ll join you in prayer.

          3. Amie

You make me so sad. So many like you are being brainwashed every day because you refuse to listen to both sides of the argument.

          4. You are so right. The Left are the demons. Satan has deceived them to believe they’re the good in the world! How else could you think trans/queer is normal & good.

        3. Lollo JLL

          Sick!

        4. Keegan

I agree with the nickname. And he is a f@#king D!@k.

        5. Mike

DeSantis is destroying Florida and trying to destroy Democracy.

He is the worst governor I believe in history.

His mental state is one of a child who doesn’t get his way

Hopefully his incompetent leadership will destroy him politically.

          1. J

Have you been to California lately?

        6. Trevor

What is this a kindergarten class? Can’t you discuss issues like adults?

        7. Wanda

I too wish that Disney could relocate.. DeSantis is the evil one in sooo many ways

        8. Lgrishamousdahl@gmail.comLgrishamousdahl@gmail.comLeslie Grisham-Ousdahl

          Me too! 👹

        9. We The People

Thank you Governor DeSantis Stand your groun ! Nice to see more companies can not bully people because of who they are or the money thay have,We have enough idiots in the White House trying to destroy this country. ‘ GOD bless you ‘
Thank You for all youstand for.

        10. Mona Hurt

Exactly, because he represents a false identity, just like the magical characters that play in Disney movies.

      2. Diane

DeSantis thinks he is the greatest. Leave Disney alone. They’ve been there before you were born & helped with tourist.
        Stop, just stop.

        1. Tracie Belling

I coined that name two years ago! I can’t believe how far and fast it’s grown!

        2. Javier

U alright but he don’t care.

      3. Place

Maybe Disney should just play by rules and not try to make their iwn

        1. Mole Rodel

Maybe DeSantis should get slow stomach cancer and die screaming.

          1. Jona Denz-Hamilton

Uncalled for, regardless. Thanks for screwing the rest of us with your cruel comment.

          2. Nick

            👍🏻

          3. Leonard

Ignorance is often seen in public places. Maybe that could happen to someone you know !Careful what you wish for!

          4. Susan

That is an awful thing to say no matter what your opinion about all this is. Remember they say what goes around comes around.

          5. socialbuttafly

            Right💯

        2. Linda

          Good advice.

          1. Linda

That was to be directed to Place’s post.

          2. Eleanor

I think it’s all gone too far. Disney commented on something that was not exactly true and it blew up on them. Then DeSantis took it personal . Take a breath and negotiate.

          3. Don Kinsey

It wasn’t true at all. The bill prevent schools from teaching 5,6,7, and 8 year olds about ANY sexual activity.

However, I take your point and agree Desantis is going after them as a personal gripe. Disney should mind it’s own business and stay out of politics.

          4. Matt Chambers

No, it only prevents schools from teaching about sexual orientation and gender identity. Whether it’s possible to teach about normal heterosexual sex without discussing sexual orientation is potential point of debate, but not a very interesting one. The answer is pretty clearly yes, you can discuss heterosexual intercourse without ever going into alternative persuasions.

And it also prevents ALL schools, not just elementary schools, from teaching about sexual orientation and gender identity at the state’s whim:
            > Classroom instruction by school personnel or third parties on sexual orientation or gender identity may not occur in kindergarten through grade 3 **or in a manner that is not age appropriate or developmentally appropriate for students in accordance with state standards.**

          5. JoeJoe

Corporations are people, the Supreme Court decided.. Now all of a sudden you clowns are mad about Citizen United?

        3. Linda

          👍

          1. Linda

Just another good reason to really hate him. He keeps giving more reason to dislike him

      4. DbC

It’s real simple, Disney needs to get out of the politics and back to entertain and making money for its share holders. Ask Budweiser how the whole woke thing is working out fiscally for them and those that trusted them with their investment money. You want to be political join a nonprofit

      5. Carlos Rivera

I think Governor DeSantis needs a mind his own business.
Disney world was established way before he was born.
Doesn’t he have anything else better to do.
I’ll tell you, you give this man power and it goes right through his head.

      6. Taylor

        Florida doesn’t need Disney. W
E don’t need any woke companies.

      7. Charles Kirth

Disney is welcome in Florida as long as they keep their views of educating children in Florida to themselves. Florida has a right to determine what happens in their state and Disney thought they could transfer liberal ideas from California to Florida. The ideas are unacceptable not only in Florida but most of the United States. Disney World would do their shareholders and fans a disservice if they decided to close and leave the state. Iger is a smart man and should read the handwriting on the wall! Florida is not a liberal state and never will be. Concentrate on entertaining visitors to the park and stay out of state politics!

      8. Beej

Disney has been, and will be around, long after Desantis has come and gone.

But also think, the author of the article should be more honest with his article titles, or at least ad parentheses in his name, maybe……Andrew (clickbate) Boardwine.
Seems like a dude that would also put a sock down his pants before a date, only to let his date down at the end of the night.

      9. La Quenta

The 1st Amendment guarantees freedom of speech and that includes an organization. De Santis only like free speech if it’s something he agrees with. I will continue to standby Disney world. If De Santis attacks them then what other companies will be next?

      10. Dan

Retired people are already leaving Florida for other states. This idiocy with Disney could end up with Walt and company moving down the road as well. And the what happens to those billion dollar bonds that are now worthless?

DeSantis is playing with fire, and the entire state of Florida may wind up “Scorched”.

      11. Cheryl

He just has the whole state of Florida that supports him evil Disney can’t wait for that place to be shut down the worst thing that ever happened was Suits taking over the company and destroying it!!

    2. Paul

What absolute nonsense. Every executive at Disney should be fired. They’re going to put billions of dollars worth of investment at risk? You don’t think real people in the markets don’t watch this stupidity? You’re picking a fight with a government. Maybe they should get out of the moralizing business and back into business of making money.

      1. Kia

DeSantis started the fight with making legislation for a nonsense problem in the first place. He was called out for it. He can’t sue everyone that calls him out so he decides to go after the biggest one. Then when he gets one upped in trying to take them over it really pissed him off. So because he can’t handle his answer Disney now has to sue him & the other crew of idiots he brought over to the new board. One that thinks rain makes you gay & believes in conversion camps. Another is a school board member w no college degree of any sort and no experience to be on a board of this nature. So now not only has he got himself sued, now each of the board members are sued (love that for them.) So what does he do? He sues Disney back. Then had hats that he can be sued by Disney for copyright violation. Disney could bankrupt our state. He keeps saying this is what the voters wanted. Nope I never wanted any of this. Not one bit. This needs to stop but he’s too much of a baby or trying to be bad boy to be an adult & do the adult thing & I’m going to stop the nonsense I’ve started, let’s try to fix it. Then maybe he can focus on all the crap he needs to focus on in this awful state.

        1. Steve

I don’t believe any entity should be able to make their own laws inside of a state, and if they have transportation systems inside that state they should be fully open to inspection procedures.

          1. DR CATHERINE MIGLIANO

Blame the legislators who made this legal & profitable for FloriDUH some 60 years ago. The deal was etched in stone in the FL Constitution, something DeSatan bypassed when he started his shenanigans, but then, he always does things covertly.

          2. beerstop

Reedy Creek hasnt been improving anything but Disneys pockets for years, they cant hide behind that shield forever especially with the predatory way they dealt with kissimmee and orlando, opening their own nightclub area, then going after the campgrounds and the budget friendly motels in the area. so ya no tears for the mouse.

          3. Linda

Since when have we been allowed to practice our first amendment right – not in this climate and anyone that says any different is not paying attention – there is more to worry about – how about our country and the freedoms that the USA has always stood for – SMH🇺🇸

          4. Frob

The pack was between Disney and Florida for the benefit of both. It’s sad that the governor’s feeling were hurt for the detriment of both Disney and the FL.

          5. John Beaver

They don’t make their own laws any different than other counties. Their rules and regulations are actually more detailed than most other county governing bodies. You’ve only been given notes in the media but unless you have to deal with the Reedy Creek group day-and-day out you have no clue as to what they actually do and what type of money Disney has to pay.
For the transportation it is true that day to day is handled on property but they still have state regulated audits. They’re not as free range as the government media is leading you to be believe.

          6. Dave

Steve, apologies, but you clearly have NO idea whatsoever about the reedy creek deal. Do a little research if interested. They’re now just allowed to “make their own laws” lmao, and the monorail thing is just a small side note compared to everything.

          7. Amigona

Disney needs to stop building in FL . Dealing w/ FL govt not working Anyone ever see abandoned businesses all over, FL why?

          8. Linda

            👍

          9. Amy

Have you ever been to Disney or do you even
Know anything about Disney? They have 4 main keys to their business and the 1st is SAFETY!!! Why would the intentionally hurt anyone? They are probably more safe and have higher standards than normal businesses and probably better tan transportation than even the state. Disney’s in business to make money not spend it on frivolous lawsuits like the one DeSantis has started. If he is vindictive towards one business think about the state the world would be I’m if he was ever elected president. NO THANKS!!!

          10. Dave

They’ve been fine for 50 years. Their infrastructure runs better and safer than most states do

          11. Trish

            Truth!

          12. Elizabeth

Steve: I am sure Disney is not against their transportation systems being inspected by the state. The problem is Desantis will shut them down for a Non reason just to punish Disney. That’s where his mind lives. He is a hater. Speaking of hating what Desantis is doing to Disney not only violates their right to free speech but wreaks of a hate crime. In fact the majority of his legislation -anti gay, anti black history, anti abortion is hate legislation.

          13. Donna

DeSantis should be sued, he is violating he own state constitution. Our family has already pulled our business out of that state. So I guess it would really hurt florida is they ceased operations and moved to another state. Imagine what the city of Orlando would be like if they pulled all their billions out. Pretty sad.

          14. Rogan

            👍

          15. Natalie

Does not the governor have more important things to worry about like school and business safety and how high the cost of living is now . No he cares only for himself

          16. Mike

Little Steve, you obviously don’t understand what this is really about or you’re too ignorant.

          17. Place

            exactly

          18. Glen

The Florida DOT inspector would inspect the monorail and skyliner just like any other railroad in the state of Florida they don’t just shut railroads down and if they do its only because it’s In such bad shape it would be unsafe for people to travel on it which is a good thing.ive work on the railroad for 30 yrs and know the state inspectors the only thing they care about is public safety and most things they find would be fixed on the spot.

          19. Linda

            I agree, Steve.

          20. Richard jasso

Cool down Erik. You sound like your Leader…

          21. Kathy Klingsten

Agree. No other company gets the Disney deal. Why should they.

          22. Sarah Morgan

What so you perceive as the truth? I would love to know.

          23. Michael Schmidt

First off, they don’t and can’t make their own laws. They have development authority over the tax district which was granted when the initial agreement was made to build it in the middle of a big freaking swamp. As for transportation system inspection, that is something every other theme or amusement park ,including others in FL, is REQUIRED to do themselves. And Disney’s safety record on transport is spotless, quite unlike the FL DOT.

        2. Paul

I doubt you voted for him

          1. No one should!

          2. Marlene

Inclusivity DeSantis is such a Goliath and old 🦖 Get with the times you old fogies.

        3. Walt

Ummm – what world do you live in? DISNEY stated this argument. Get over your infatuation with a 5 foot mouse and see the truth. You think a corporation – which is NOT a person should be able to move government policy/action by flexing their muscle. Our country was built on the power of the people not corporations. Disney has gotten too arrogant, Bob Iger is a horrendous failure who has run this company into the ground – and the board is not better. All are ESG social engineering elitists who ignorant people think are geniuses in business. They are not. If they were the had the perfect opportunity to shut their mouth after they ousted Chapak (you know Igers fall guy). There is NO WAY one person should have this much control. Iger has financially raped Disney and continues to do so. No doubt he will pick another elite globalist to continue the downfall.

          1. Rose

Disney originally wasn’t going to say anything about the bill but it was the people who work for Disney from the amusement park employees to get the actors and actresses that forced Disney to speak out. So it isn’t a corporation that spoke against the government, it was their own people. Disney just represented their employees views like a union would do.

          2. Tom

So you are saying the inmates run the asylum sounds like a company is bowing at the altar of wokeness and blaming it on the flakes that they hired

          3. Frank Brown

What world do you live in. The republicans passed laws long ago making corporation s equal to people, so that they can start PACS and influence the elections. That means that in republican world the opinions and wishes of corporations count, and since they have more money, they count more than individual people. Now that they don’t agree, De Stablizer’s feelings are hurt, and he’s having a tantrum. It’s jeopardizing the entire state economy but he really doesn’t care and evidently the people that put him there don’t get that.

          4. Masha

Corporations express their political views by spending billions in political donations. If you really believe that corps should stay silent then they should be banned from expressing their views via money as well.

          5. Ned

Tell me you haven’t heard of Citizen’s United without saying you haven’t heard of Citizen’s United.

          6. Vh

The board is a joke. Desantis put a moms for liberty member on it.
And if our voter turnout want so low, florida would not be in all these messes. We’re a laughing stock!

          7. Jon Smith

Gay,gay gay, gay,. Ron Ron DaSandtoes will not be president or vice president.

          8. AJ

Actually, SCOTUS in it’s Citizen’s United ruling made corporations “people”. So, Disney DOES have the right to free speech, same as you and I.

          9. S Harmon

The Supreme Court has ruled that corporations ARE people

          10. Lynnberg

Are you sure you shouldn’t replace the name “Igor” with DeSantis. That is really what this is about.

          11. Manny

@Walt what country are you living in? Not the US which was built on menu and corporate desires.

          12. Elizabeth

Someone has a serious axe to grind with Disney.

          13. Elizabeth

The reason Desantis is fighting with Disney pure and simple is his verbalized desire to “ own the libs”. I for one am “libbin’ it up in Florida” In fact I think we should get a few million t shirts made up to that effect. Anyone interested.

          14. Kathy Klingsten

Totally agree 💯. Walt Disney must be turning over in his grave!

          15. HWarner

Walt was a antisemitic racist and never would have allowed Pride in his park.

          16. JJ

No. Walt was not an antisemite. That is a disproven lie and it’s against the law to spread false lies. Meryl Streep went to jail for it and so have thousands of others.

        4. Wendy

DeSantis already has destroyed Florida. Between his fight with Disney, banning books, and thinking everyone should own a gun. He’s cutting off his nose to spite his face.

          1. Tori

He’s banning books that shouldn’t be read by children. Besides you probably have no issue with books like Huckleberry Finn (which people have been trying to ban since it was published) or To Kill a Mockingbird. Disney has always gotten special treatment and been above the law. Same as Universal studios and the Dayton speedway. Disney isn’t going anywhere

          2. Linda

DeSantis is trying to protect our children from the lefts attempt to insure porn at young age schools are allowed be indoctrinated with it.

          3. Starr

Yeah that’s why people are moving here in droves…because he has destroyed the state. Gtfoh

          4. Kathy

We were going to move there but won’t live in a state led by Gov. DeSentence

          5. Mr B.

Thank you for staying out of Florida. Keep Florida red. We don’t need the woke or libs

          6. Yep. People are moving to Florida in droves, mostly old Republicans too lazy to work and getting their Socialist Security and Medicare while complaining about all the liberal socialists.

          7. Marie

So when will you be leaving? I’m not a DeSantis fan any longer, but if you have a problem with 5-8 year olds not being giving sex education classes (gay OR straight….if you had bothered to read the entire 5 page bill), then you have serious issues. While I think he needs to back off of Disney, I also don’t have a problem with someone other than Disney inspecting their transportation. Anyway, Disney started going downhill back in 2019. It was obvious when many rides would be shut down, cleanliness was lacking, etc. But….you’re free to go any time! I hear NY and Cali is great!

        5. Diana

Kia,if Florida is so awful,as you say, WHY don’t you leave?

        6. Jill

          Totally agree!

        7. Roger

Why don’t you leave if you think Florida is awful?

        8. Pam

My ast experience at Disney was horrible. Bought passes online, employee didn’t know how to process at entry, made me go to ticket line … Ended up taking 2 hrs to get in to only be able to ride 2 rides all day because of all the reservations made 90days in advance. Sucks for FL residents like me. Never waste my money again.

        9. Elizabeth

So what you are saying is you support an authoritarian state?

        10. Jd

I never saw any of these options on a Florida ballot, so never voted myself. Not necessarily what all Florida voters wanted. I hate when the Florida government officials say stuff like that when we never voted for an issue they dream up and pass unanimously.

        11. Charles Pryor

          Well, bless your heart!

      2. Moe

Please, Florida republicans are a clown bud and it’s governor is the head clown.

        1. Michael Holland

Desantis started this because they didn’t bow to his ridiculous made up rules! Desantis needs to go!

      3. RuthAnn Wicks

morals? Disney has been all about family for years!

        1. Victor

call a referendum “we, the people want it”: De Santi or Disney

          1. ANTIFA

You need to gooogle Citizens united..Disney is a corporation amd it has a 1st amendment right to free speech without government retaliation. YOU KNOW THE STUFF Ron Meatball DeSantimonious did to Disney..Do you hate the US Constitution?

          2. Walt

Citizens united was a legally weak decision and will or should eventually be overturned. So you mean to tell me you really believe that a corporation with billions of dollars to throw its weight around should have the same rights as individual people who our Constitution gave power to? Let me ask you – if this situation was perfectly reversed would you be arguing in favor of Disney? I doubt it. Disney is abusing its power. Desantis was elected with a huge majority. Face it – people are sick of this woke Bull$h1tt.

          3. Beth

Woke means equality. I’m all for woke.

          4. JD

            No, Disney is not.

This isn’t even debatable: the case law is clear. Government cannot retaliate against a business for exercising its right to speech.

The fact that any of you here even question that shows how little you know about our laws, and you should stop speaking until you educate yourself

          5. Pam

How many year ago did Disney deny supporting gay days when families were complaining

        2. Hush

You must not be in tone with reality.

They are pro money. Not family nor values.

        3. More accurately, back into the business of making dreams come true. Leave politics out

        4. DADesigns

DeSantis needs be taken down a peg or twenty. I hope Disney can be the one to do it. He won the governor election by a landslide so I guess Florida residence love his b.s. but I sure can’t understand why these Republicans want to keep holding our country back.

        5. Tom

Disney paid $1.146 billion in taxes last year. If they left the state how would Florida make up the difference? The company employs 75,000 people in Florida what would they do for work? What about all of the restaurants, hotels, and other businesses that are reliant on Disney tourists?

          1. Maxroy

Labor camps putting the weakest in them for free money for corporations,Desantis has sold Florida to the slave masters who own the world, he’s looking out for number one/ uno ,only thing is he enjoys it,groomed for the Position

          2. Mary

Well said. I go to Disney World every other year. I rent a house off Disney property each time. This money does not go to Disney World. I purchase food from grocery stores. And so do a lot of people.

        6. Nope

I was here before him, and I’ll be here when he’s gone.

        7. Denice

Agreed! If you don’t like Florida, there are 49 other states you can go happily live in. As for Disney magic, that’s been a joke for a long time now. I was a long time Disney lover, had annual passes for decades, and then came the pandemic and everything went to hell, including Disney’s magic. They have upped the price, lowered the quality, lowered the portions of food, increased obnoxious people. There is no magic anymore in Disney and that’s sad to say. But if Disney thinks that it’s allowed to be autonomous as a corporation within a state, then clearly Disney has something else coming to it and if it wants to go away well then bye bye Disney because for as much as Georgia or whatever other state wants to open its door to Disney all they see are dollar signs. And when Disney wants its way and doesn’t get it well. Where’s Disney going to go then?

          1. Lily

I left before DeSatancame out in full self-righteousness and self-glory releasing his followers in a full march into nonsense.
            So sad 😭

        8. Beth

Tourism is what keeps this backwards state afloat! I have a better idea, why don’t you pro life anti everything human go find a hole to live in. That governor needs to go and take all you hateful with him!

          1. Diana

Beth,if Florida is so backwards,as you say, then WHY don’t you leave?

        9. Roger

Morals, did you say morals? There is a lot of child p*** Incorporated in many Disney cartoons. Truth!

      4. Tom

Disney didn’t pick the fight Desantis did. Pay attention. Do you realize how much taxpayer money he is spending to get his way ?

      5. Tuj

        Fu

      6. Carl

Wrong. De Santis is acting as a kid. If Disney decides to move from Florida, you’ll thousands of unemployed people, Orlando and Kissimmee will become phantom cities in no time.
Where is the tolerance and freedom of speech? It’s unacceptable that having a different opinion than the governor, you get punished.
I’m a proud republican, but I just can’t stand RDS

        1. Jean

I could say the same for DeSantis, who is imposing his personal ideology on a state full of diverse people. He should focus on helping Floridians with affordable housing and homeowners insurance, rather than picking fights with the largest tax paying employer in the state. He needs to listen to ALL Florida residents, not just his wealthy mega-donors.

          1. Mary

            I agree with you Jean.

      7. More accurately, back into the business of making dreams come true. Leave politics out

      8. Donald Schwartz

Desantis is a little miscellaneous, and will scare any new corporations from moving down to Florida and scare others to leave!

        1. peterparker22

Other corps will buy the parks if Disney leaves. There will still be tourist revs.

Disney did not make FL great for tourists, *FL made FL great for tourists!* By giving great freedom to business across the state to cause visit-inducing customer experiences, the FL statehouse is the one that has made FL so great for visitors.

          DISNEY IS REPLACEABLE.

      9. Heather

This is nothing but BS. DW isn’t going anywhere. Smh

      10. ANTIFA

You need to gooogle Citizens united..Disney is a corporation amd it has a 1st amendment right to free speech without government retaliation. YOU KNOW THE STUFF Ron Meatball DeSantimonious did to Disney..Do you hate the US Constitution?

      11. Mad Hatter

Steve, accept facts please. Disney is not the state’s largest tourism draw. The beaches and weather are. 120+ million tourists visit Florida each year, while around 20+ million visit Disney World.

      12. Bear

Maybe we should have a smaller Florida government- Maybe start by impeachment the most and entitled corrupt governor in the history of the country.

      13. Ivan

        It’s not a war against government. It’s a war against right-wing nutjobs.

      14. Blanca

        Very well said

      15. Hey Paul. Stick to the house work ok. Thanks The mouse

      16. Mark

        Disney vs China =silent obedience.

      17. Jennifer

They were attacked by the government. I don’t want to live in a country where elected officials can pass legislation to specifically to attack an individual business.

      18. Michelle

Disney didn’t start the fight the Governor did. He is using this as a platform and he needs to let it go. Why wage war on one of your states biggest money makers because you don’t like what they say? That sos needs to leave Disney alone and do something productive for his state instead of using Disney, Universal, SeaWorld, and the Miami tourism’s money to fight a battle that even if he wins he will lose?

      19. Flman594

        I agree

      20. She

        Agree!

      21. John

Disney just SHUT DOWN, & package moved other state
After that the pathetic governor can crawler bagging to stay, but to late No more JOB for floride people’s under the pathetic Ron DeSantis

      22. M

And maybe the Desantis should realize that the 1st amendment cannot be nullified every time someone disagrees with him.

      23. Teresa

        I agree!

      24. Matheus

DeSantis picked the fight. It’s what bullies do.

      25. Charlie

You really don’t seem to know what’s actually going on. DeSantis is like a child , he gets even when someone disagrees with him. Florida is his Kingdom not part of the USA.

      26. Keith

        Agreed
This is what happens when corporations get political and stick their nose where it doesn’t belong.

      27. Jill

        Wake up!

      28. Dr. Manny

@Paul I guess you never took a class in organizational behavior. If you did you would know companies have constantly lobbied the government for their needs.

Furthermore, Citizens United ushered in the corporations are people movement which codified money is speech. So you can thank the conservative bench for that one.

Disney is well within its rights to lobby against laws it thinks are not in alignment with its principles especially laws it’s employees as a whole spoke out against.

      29. Elizabeth

So your okay with Flirida being an author Ian state?

      30. Brenda

And this nut wants to be President give it a break DeSantis stop being a bully. Do he know that the is playing with people livelihood 70,000 employee is nothing to play with .

      31. Steve

You’d be right if you weren’t so wrong about everything you wrote. DeSantis picked this fight. They offered an opinion on a bill in the same manner that hundreds of other corporations did, yet DeSantis decided to make an example out of them….and has obviously bitten off more than he can chew. Speaking of money, no concern about DeSantis dragging Florida taxpayers into a legal battle they aren’t interested in fighting? Also, what about the 1400 other special districts in Florida? The Villages has more people than Disney, yet has all kinds of special rules that only apply to it…

      32. Leave the Disney complex alone!THE governor of Florida has gone too far again! He has jeopardized the future of Florida’s tourism industry!

      33. I think the government is out of line here, not Disney and since is the government always right?

      34. Linda

        👍

    3. Rich

Apparently you do not have a clue Disney has always been about themselves and do not care about Florida or the people that live here. When the tickets sales and gate counts are down they try to give deals to get the Florida residence to make up the difference. So if you think Disney care about Florida residences you don’t have a clue

      1. Well I suppose the millions in taxes, 72,000 employees and countless numbers they cause to be employed. So what does the village bring to Florida that it deserves tax-free status. They don’t employ, nor created any economics to Florida. Plus the fact that what DeSantis did is illegal.

        1. Mikey

Most people can’t afford Disney to begin with.if not for the tax breaks, it would be twice the price for admission. Poor Disney, boo hoo

          1. You couldn’t walk out side your house let alone around it without seeing a Tax Break in Florida. Goid luck with your last few years.

            The main Cheese.

        2. B.

I think it would serve DeSantis right if WDW pulled out & took all tge jobs & tourism dollars wirh them! The people will follow the mouse to wherever Dreams are being made! Hopefully Disney will pick a drier/cooler place. Do it Disney! Florida doesn’t deserve you if their politics support hate & disinformation! Take your jobs & tourism dollars elsewhere!!

      2. Ig

You are so right. I might ad we are witnessing a dictator in the making.
Would the dis antis employed all the people that Disney has if Disney were to leave Florida?

        1. Don

          RON Desantis
          Needs to back off
I hope his kids turn out gay

          1. Jim

I would never wish that on his kids. That would be awful.

          2. RuthAnn Wicks

Nothing wrong with being gay. Only in Florida.

          3. Steve

I’m gay and have a phenomenal life! Happily married for. 27yrs. When not being targeted by bigots and hateful ignorance my life is better than the majority.

          4. And there lies the real problem. You’re gay? Great. Kudos to you. STOP TRYING TO CONVERT OUR CHILDREN TO YOUR MINDSET. LET THEM BE KIDS! I’M ALL FOR WHAT DESANTIS IS DOING. WALT DISNEY IS PROBABLY TURNING OVER IN HIS GRAVE OVER WHAT DISNEY HAS BECOME ALL ABOUT!

          5. Rob

That’s such an ignorant comment. One you got from extreme right talking points, not reality. Gays don’t indoctrinate. Religion does. DeSantis does. Right wing media does. Look how easy it was to get weak minded imbeciles to throw the word WOKE around for anything they don’t agree with, but can’t define the actual word. That’s like being a lemming. Florida has become one of the laughingstock states thanks to petty Ron, who has done NOTHING of substance for the people.

          6. Ricky

            Cry harder

          7. Steve

Oh my gosh you better run to your feinting couch right away! you definitely have a case of the vapors there, grandma. You’re seeing boogeymen where there aren’t any, and it’s all to distract you from the real groomers–the church. One google search will tell you where all the sex offenders that groom children really work, and it’s not schools or Disney. If Ron really wanted to protect children instead of scaring old people he’d be going after churches.

          8. B

You beat me to it ! Good one !

        2. faackanders2

Desantis shot himself in the foot and won’t win the candency nor the presidency.

          1. Adam t

He is done. Agree. True conservatives and libertarians wont even vote for him. The ones who have principles anyway.

        3. George Philpot

This governor is an utter Disgrace to the state of Florida. He embarasses me. He thinks the state belongs to him and his Sick ideologies. What a waste of a vote to a Wanna be Dictatator.

        4. Adam t

Disney has been im FL probably longer than you. Do you realize how childish you sound? You are pointing fingers rather than realizing you are not conservative. No true conservative would support what is happening here. Big big government. Anti business. Anti freedom. So easy to point fingers these days while not realizing you stand for nothing legitimate. Make america legitimate again!

        5. Lang

That type of stuff has been happening. But it is done by liberal backed companies such as Google. Check it out for yourself don’t just believe my word look that up

        6. countesspetofi

          “It’s just not tangible.”

The word “tangible” does not mean what you seem to think it means.

        7. Bill

Rofl….typical ignorance, of course you’re republican

        8. Robin

Rob, I couldn’t have said it better. I just moved to Florida a year ago, I just can’t believe it as I watch people’s freedoms and rights being taken away from them. Foundations of America.

          1. Name one Robin?

Did Batman take away your fun?

        9. Rob

Every accusation is an admission on the right. You made sure to throw in all the buzzwords, didn’t ya? Funny how these “red” states are the most government dependent, yet they hate DC, despite having to be bailed out constantly. Come out of your bubble and use words you thought of on your own.

      3. Atomic Kommie Comics

What Florida business isn’t “out for itself”, girl?
Please be specific and cite an unbiased source validating the claim!

        1. J

Desantis has been a great governor. I can tell the majority of you posting are butt hurt commies.

          1. J Feeney

He’s been so great… let me ask you, how is the price of your home insurance going these days? Did your company even stay in Florida? How about your rent or your friends’ rents? He’s made a total mess out of this state by focusing on his fairy tale issues and not taking care of the every day problems that affect the average Floridian.

          2. Charles Pryor

How did he cause your insurance rates to change? Bad storm damage causes Insurnace premiums to go up! Rents all over the country have skyrocketed. The governor has no control over the two issues you mention!

          3. Lookinginfromoutside

Hang on, the ultra right wing party of personal freedoms can be in the moralizing business, but any entity, even in free market capitalism, that professes anything different should be persecuted. Government telling business what they can and can’t do, telling people what they can and can’t read isn’t right wing. In that case your ultra right wing party is actually an ultra left wing party….in other words you are a communist.

          4. Oldman

The guv is shaking down Disney while cutting deals for paving roads with radioactive phosphate. Or the deal he cut with property insurers. He is all about himself and his power. Guv don’t care about 20 million constituents.

        2. Mad Hatter

What Florida business isn’t out for itself? Every one of the thousands of 501(c)3’s would be a good start.

          1. Hunter

I agree Gov. DeSantis has lost his mind. We currently don’t pay taxes in the State of Florida due to Dismey and other amusement parks. If Disney leaves we will eventually have to pay taxes and hotels, restaurants, and business will go out of business. Gov DeSantis is playing a dangerous game with the people of Florida.

            Dr. Hunter Sr. J. D.

          2. Like Goodwill? Hehe

      4. You sound clueless. Disney pays a hugh tax base and employs thousands not including the businesses and jobs surrounding the Disney area

        1. CheeseInFL

You are the one that is clueless. Obviously you missed Econ 101. Disney has literally shut down businesses all around LBV, not to mention they have influenced the politicians in the area to stop certain businesses that would have provided thousands of jobs and millions in tax revenue. So just stop drinking the Disney CULT Kool Aid. You are too old to be that ignorant.

          1. LB

That statement about Disney being a cult makes you sound NUTS.

      5. Richard

What a ridiculous uneducated statement.. what Disney brings in economically cant be replaced.. economics 101 .. have they banned that book too?

        1. CheeseInFL

Actually, it can easily be replaced overnight. Econ 101, which you must have skipped. See Disney can’t afford to close, it would take them 25+ years and TRILLIONS of dollars to replace somewhere else, while another company would just swoop in and take over the area. Then more businesses would also be built in the area contributing even more jobs, revenue, and taxes. But hey, I don’t expect you leftist moochers to understand anything relating to business.

          1. J

Other businesses aren’t Disney. Disney world is the number 1 reason people go to Florida. Every single other tourist operation would feel a GIGANTIC loss were Disney to pull out.

You have to be a troll right? I mean people can’t actually believe all this hate and fear propaganda, right?

          2. L B

            J, you’re absolutely right.

          3. Peggy

Agreed I would have no reason to go to Florida. There are beaches along the whole east coast to visit. And Texas and California. I am at the point I won’t spend another dime in Florida after my next vacation. And it’s to Disney. Why my special needs kids are treated better than any other theme park there. ( except Hershey park).

          4. NirthByNorthwest

Any business not already in the state would think twice about setting up in a state where the governor and legislature unilaterally redraw long term agreements that were key to large investment decisions. More importantly though, what happened to all those malls where large magnet retailers like Macy’s and Nordstrom shut down their stores? That’s probably what you’re looking at if DW leaves Florida.

      6. Adam t

Irrelevant. They are a private company clearly being attacked by the GOVT for petty reasons! Its an embarrasment to our state and to our freedoms as Americans. Boycott disney like they did with Bud Light, but using govt like this is disgusting. And it will accomplish nothing other than to waste money and scare business from FL. Literally you cant govern worse than that.

      7. D E Jones

Sounds like someone running a business. Gov and his henchmen need to go.

      8. Gush

Disney is its own taxing DISTRICT! They pay taxes only to themselves. They pay property taxes to themselves, why would you say they pay taxes? Disney OWNS THEIR TAXING DISTRICT. FLORIDA GOT SCREWED BY DISNEY AND THE CORRUPT GOVERNMENT FIFTY YEARS AGO. I SAW IT HAPPEN!

      9. Pop

Statistics show that more people outside of Florida and the U. S. visits Disney. Desantis should know that Disney is the glue that holds Florida together.

        1. Mad Hatter

Florida was thriving as a tourist destination BEFORE Disney was there. And still is. The beaches and weather, along with the number of tourists visiting is THE reason why it was built there and not anywhere else. Florida receives 120+million tourists a year. Disney world 20+million. Disney is a huge draw, but not the glue. Disney needs Florida more than Florida needs Disney.

      10. BigDaddy

Yes, Disney is a business, and cares about profit. Let DeSatan drive out the single biggest revenue stream in Florida. That’ll show those horrible Disney executives.

      11. Carl

Really? Billions in investment, thousands of jobs, billions for the tourism industry. If Disney leaves, FL will lose a lot. A whole city and a many businesses rely on Disney.
I hope Disney closes for a couple in months and you’ll how the areas dies in no time!!!

      12. B

Absolutely True ! See ya Disney ! Don’t let the oranges hit ya on the way out. The “Villages” will make better use of the land.

      13. Blanca

So true: Disney is looking for their pockets not Florida and families.

      14. ffaackanders2

Florida and Southern California get the annual pass deals the rest of us can not

      15. Teresa

I used to live in FL and completely agree. Disney don’t give a damn about FL residents, nor the FAMILY THEME Walt Disney envisioned & created for his parks and for children of all ages to enjoy. Walt is rolling in his grave knowing WD is in support of CRT, transgenders competing in girls/women sports & transgenderism of children.
Shut DW down! It’s not entertaining to go anymore. Too damn crowded!!

    4. Margi

      Lol

      1. Gabe

Florida was always the laughing stock of the country. The governor made it a world wide laughing stock.

        1. Gush

Woke people should move! Maybe you are woke?

          1. Tschadd

Just curious. What exactly does woke mean? Let’s have an intelligent definition.

        2. Greg B

          Very true!

    5. Ken

I am with you 100%. Florida will be better off without him when he leaves office. Let him battle with Trump. By the way I say this as a registered Republican.

      1. George Philpot

Yes indeed, Florida would be much better off minus a Wanna Be Dictator at age 44. He hasn’t lived thru anything strenuous yet but he can try and dictate people ‘s lives

    6. Chris

I am completely embarrassed by the vicious acts of the governor, for political gain. Making the state of Florida the laughing stock of this country.

      1. Belinda

This is beyond ridiculous… The governor has lost his minds… where do all of those people go when they are all out of a job? He can’t think past his narcissism.

      2. Don’t Say Desantis. Desantis will never be President… This country doesn’t like Fascists wannabes !

      3. Gabe

Florida was always the laughing stock of the country. The governor made it a world wide laughing stock.

      4. Shirley

Are they still using Samuelson in eco 1?

    7. K

With the sickness of Trans and gays running wild in society . Disney is a sick place for kids now. God will not have a gays or Trans in heaven . They will rot in hell .

      1. Andy

Why are Christians so hateful. It’s so culty. yuck!

        1. Doesn’t the Bible say a women’s purpose is to shut up, take care of kids and service her husband? Pretty sure Christians are #1 in grooming kids preforming rituals on them without consent (baptism). Dragging kids to Sunday school each week. Making them recite incantations(praying) before eating, and sleeping .

          Titus 2:3-5 ESV
Older women likewise are to be reverent in behavior, not slanderers or slaves to much wine. They are to teach what is good, and so train the young women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled, pure, working at home, kind, and submissive to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be reviled.

          1 Corinthians 11:6 ESV
For if a wife will not cover her head, then she should cut her hair short. But since it is disgraceful for a wife to cut off her hair or shave her head, let her cover her head.

          1 Timothy 2:9-10 ESV
Likewise also that women should adorn themselves in respectable apparel, with modesty and self-control, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly attire, but with what is proper for women who profess godliness—with good works.

          Timothy 2:12
I do not permit a woman to teach or to assume authority over a man; she must be quiet.

          1 Corinthians 14:34
Women should remain silent in the churches. They are not allowed to speak, but must be in submission, as the law says.

        2. L B

Andy, these are not Christians. God was never hateful. These are confused and scared people hiding behind Gods name.

      2. Belinda

That is an lgnorant, judgemental comment…. More ridiculousness

        1. John

Keep in mind, if you’re a Bible believing Christian…
Your God impregnated a child against her will.
According to your scripture, Mary was 14 or 15 years old and was knocked up by God without her permission.
          FACT!

      3. Tati

You’re the one who’s sick, using God’s name on such a disgusting statement. You’re the one that will rot.

      4. S Harmon

        Go away.

    8. K

DeSantis believes in God and will always be the best for florida and the USA. Get rid of all gays , Trans and idiots. God destroyed Sodom and gamora when it became normal activity. It’s a sickness. Get help..

    9. Peter Lawer

It seems you maybe the same as he, but you are a liberal nut…

    10. Ted

      Amen

    11. Joe blow

      LMAO then move clown

    12. Jason

Than leave our great state of Florida …Desantis is a great governor. Why should Disney not pay taxes as we all do.

    13. faackanders2

Disney should just treat WDW as a cash cow till Desantis is out of office. Expand in CA and other states that want them.

    14. M Simci

Comments from the peanut galley on this web site are way off the mark here. Disney has caused their own problems. I for one hope Disney learns a lesson from all this. Unfortunately a lot of good people and their own employees have been hurt and will be hurt by Disney’s decisions and real actions in all of these trends over a long period of time.

      1. Bob

        How so?

    15. Marty

Imagine as president, any group, company, state or country that dares to disagree with DeSantis.. They will be punished!

      1. Mickey

What a joke! He will never be the president. He’s insecure thin skinned blowhard who denies freedom except for religious cults and sociopaths. He’s a laughing stock throughout America and the world. Strutting around the country making a fool of himself. Travel is top secret? He’s a paranoid narcissist who will never earn my respect.

    16. Stingrey

Perhaps it’s time for you to put action to your words and move out of Florida. There’s no reason why you should live a life of embarrassment.

    17. Susan

This egomaniac will end up killing his state by alienating it’s largest tourism driver.

    18. Eddie

I happen to agree with the poster. I know it’s economically infeasible for Disney to move the parks out of Orlando but I wish Disney would do everything possible to reduce spending with Florida based companies. Desantis has no business picking on Disney over gay rights. He needs to focus on things really important to us Florida residents like health care, home and care insurance, beach and waterway pollution, tourism etc

    19. George

Say no to trolls…IF you lived in FL you’d never say what you said…true FL.know the many breaks we get via tourism

    20. Datman

      I agree

    21. Linda

      Yes!

    22. Greg B

I think it’s terrible for the Governor to attack Disney he is making a fool out of himself not sure what or why he is doing this but it’s clear he is not fit for Governor or president I will definitely remember his actions at the polls I hope everyone will

    23. Steve

Too bad you see the logic behind what DeSantis us doing. Any Transportation system should fall under state supervision. We are talking about the safety of those who ride. Disney deserves no more rights than any other business in the state. It is after all just a business.

    24. Wendy

DeSantis is just hurting the tourism in Florida. I know that I won’t step into the state. Him and most Republicans only care about themselves and not the good of the people.

    25. Tori

Disney isn’t going anywhere. They’ve had special treatment since day 1 and been above the law
Now people are apparently “triggered” by safety inspections from people who don’t work for Disney (basically unbiased)

    26. Liz

The Governor is just so power hungry that he is willing to risk everything. He is willing to ruin everything for people everywhere. He is not only fighting with Disney World, but, everyone else. He is selfish. A horrible human being and doesn’t deserve to run for President. Imagine what that would be like.

      1. Bob

        I agree!

    27. Ok

Go woke, you go broke. I don’t want teachers with an agenda instructing kids on their sexual orientation and gender issues. Disney made the huge mistake of going political and try to bully Desantis. How did that go! So well they fired their pres.

    28. Darrell Nelson

Disney please do 2 things… Stay in Florida but don’t ever again give a penny to RNC.
      2. Move

    29. Bob

Great honest comments. I am with you!

    30. Bob

      I agree!

    31. John

      Then you move out
      What’s stopping you
Call him what you want but it’s better then the worthless sleepy head in Washington

    32. David Holley

Disney should just wait out the governor. His childish act will put him on the street very soon.

    33. Molly

Disney should pack up and leave Florida!

    34. Sharon Ulstad

Hear hear! I’m a Californian and sympathize with you.

    35. Michael

I live in Florida and I’m absolutely disgusted with DeSantis and his moves against Disney. He’s a tyrant and a bigot he has been blocking free-speech. He’s blocking teachers from teaching things that they should be teaching the kids and going against Disney simply because they stood up against his don’t say gay policy. And now he is pushing a “don’t say period”, policy for all grades. He needs to be stopped.

    36. ML

Here we are, getting ready for war with China and Russia, Warren Buffett says the best days are over, Inflation is going higher, food is expensive, now the only place where families can get away from all the nonsense is shutting down. Next thing you know, they’ll ban ice cream. This government can’t last much longer, my Dad died last year from Medical Malpractice surgery & not one lawyer will take the case cause he was over 62. Life as we know it is becoming unbearable for us all, may God help us to survive, and may we draw to him and seek his will..

    37. Aj Carter

I totally agree. DeSantis is the one who needs to leave the state!

    38. Roger

Here’s an idea, move with them!

    39. Cheryl

      Agreed

    40. Kathy

      I love this!!

    41. Bob

So where do you live Mr. Shum?
      Do you live in Florida?
You may want to pay closer attention to what is going on in our Country.
Disney has already purchased Land to build a new Park in Orlando. Oh by the way, Disney Films is moving from Hollywood to
Orlando. Their Executives have already moved from Hollywood to Orlando. Universal is doing the same.
They already sklhoot most Films in Georgia and Tennessee. Now, Production and Post Production will be done in Orlando.

    42. M Heins

DeSantis is the ultimate bully. Trying to destroy the magical dreams of the young and the old that Disney has provided so many and has put so many smiles on the faces of people for over 50 years. He should be ashamed of himself. Disney made Florida over 50 some years ago and brought the tourism and jobs to the state. Shame on him for making all of this political stunt and trying to be the big bully destroyer in the state!

    43. Tom Servo

So leave, no one is keeping you here

    44. Stan

They should move whatever they can out of Florida.

    45. Kat

      @J Shum I so agree 100%

    46. Sam

I agree , a great state but he’s just a terrible leader and human

    47. Susan G Northcutt

Disney sucks now. Over charging, human trafficking, fist fights all over the place. Bye

    48. Desantis will never be bigger than Disney !!! That’s my opinion. Without Disney there is nothing much too do. Yeah water parks etc. But they are all there because of Disney. I had family down down in that area for years so l know the area.

    49. Tom

Maybe if you idiots understood what the controversy was about, you would understand. First of all, the law never had to do with DONT SAY GAY. That was something you woke idiots came up with. Secondly, did any of you morons read the bill? Because it had nothing against being gay. All the bill was against was the teaching of perversions towards children under 3rd grade having to do with sex and masturbation. If you idiots had any kind of opened minds, you would read the bill and then understand that’s what DeSantis is against. I am a parent myself and I am against my child being taught about masturbating and see talk when they hardly know what a belly button is. You people aught to be ashamed of yourselves demanding that children should be taught how to masturbate and how to have sex at such an early age! Then meanwhile, you want to hold it against adults that want to touch your children in an inappropriate manor right? Wake up you idiots! That’s all the bill was about. It had nothing to do with being against being gay or lesbian.

    50. Disney stay out of politics

    51. Agree, Florida needs to be DeSantisized.

    52. Hector

It’s not the same Disney Walt Disney would not approve!

    53. Adolph H.

      DeSantis ist unser Anführer

    54. Gv

Totally agree. This man wants to run for President? Who is he kidding. What would h do with a leader of another country. Start pouting.

    55. Bob

Then move back to whatever state you came from. As a FL native, I personally hate the logistical hell Disney area traffic and 24|7 congestion it has increasingly brought.

    56. Doug

Disney is not above law. They. Have been doing whatever they feel like forever. Leave florida.

    57. sheri

Good! Disney is too powerful and needs to clean up its act! They are grooming children and need to get back to making family entertainment clean. As a stockholder, I demand it.

    58. Simple. Just let Disney move as planned. The governor is the one that will get hurt if Disney moves. No money coming in but, he will be going out to loose an Election. In the end Florida will be the looser.

    59. Todd johnson

And he wants to be president 😄😄😄

    60. Thomas Stuart

As I read this article, it seems that Disney must not want inter-county transportation systems, [e.g.,Monorail ( etc)] to be inspected as to safety for passengers… therefore it is not safe or Disney is just being obtuse, or both.

    61. TP

All you have to do J Shum is vote against DeSantis. That’s it! Simple.

    62. Linda

Do you have any idea how many tax breaks Disney is given just cor being in Florida. It’s time they pay thier fair share and take some of the burden off the tax payers. Never heard of the don’t say DeSantis movement, seems to me he is the one trying to protect the taxpayers of Florida.

    63. EE

Disney too big for the bridges for a long time, it’s about time somebody put them in their place.

      1. Fart

To big for the BRIDGES? You sure about that? 🤣🤣🤣

    64. Mark

I think it is about time that the state benefits from Disney, and DeSantis is on the right track..More tax money for Florida and less profits for Disney.

    65. Mary

Disney is no different than others that have to follow rules I say Good for DeSantis!!!!

    66. Eduardo Mellanino

Either you don’t have kids or you’re part of the problem. Disney is the biggest rip-off in the state! Takes in billions of dollars wants to dictate how the state makes decisions! That’s what’s wong with the country these woke corporations think they are more important than the people who purchase or use their products. Stick to what you do and keep your wokeness out! People are tired of being controlled by the media, corporations and the government! You’re woke, but not awaken to the fall of America!

    67. JayK

Opinions differ. I personally think he’s a pretty awesome governor.

    68. Linda

      You are so right.

    69. Kristen

Don’t say DeSantis, I’m on board!

    70. Ingrid Derby

I’m wondering if the people who voted for him still support him?

    71. Amie

All they have to do is shut down for one winter and when DeSatanist realizes how much money the state is losing, he’ll be begging them to come back. The man is a malignant narcissist at the very least. He needs to be voted out. Let’s just hope that the young people get together to vote him out in 2024. He is the worst thing that ever happened to this state. Prices are so high now that even the snowbirds are leaving and settling in other states. He’ll burn this state to the ground just to get his way.

    72. Lj

He is willing to let that money go out of florida

    73. Then it would be GOOD RIDDANCE!🤣. I hate companies playing politics and Disney is trying to make the rules in Florida. Bob Iger’s head has grown big and time to chop it to size. Disney has lost its mission which is to entertain and has gone woke and berserk with its (G)reedy Cteek Development. Sad to let the mouse go but it has to go. To the mouse: THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES! And wherever you go, stop being a pain in the ass!

    74. SK

DeSantis is the biggest jerkoff since Scott was in office. He’s a wannabe Trump that’s running the state. Everyone should leave and DeSantis can have the whole place to himself.

    75. Am so glad not to live in the state anymore. Born and raised in Florida 35 years. Now Tennessee is home for 31 years. Too bad Tn. hasn’t put it’s hat in the mix taxes favor businesses here. Disney has out priced itself for the average American and the whole place needs a facelift. Stinky water on rides. Out of service rides. Move and offer employees move incentives. De Santis is fascist ruler material. We don’t need another Florida reject in the Whitehouse. His handling of immigrants and COVID show he is not fit to lead. Trump will discredit him anyway. Disney should pull up stakes the Timeshare Capitol of the world would not survive. Owned a timeshare for years there. Without Disney the place is a swamp.

    76. Susan Bakke

I am very disturbed at the way DeSantis handles all who don’t agree with him. It’s shameful, egregious & harmful. Im a Floridian & ashamed to say I live here with a dictator, autocrat in office. He has the legislators in his pocket!

    77. Stan Halcomb

I’m sure most Floridians would love to see all you bleeding heart libs go with them if they leave.

    78. Jill

      I Agree!!!

    79. Bonnie

      Good idea!

    80. Rich smith

You sound like a typical Liberal that likes to molest kid, which is exactly what Disney employs.

    81. Patrick

POLITICS and the Public’s Best Interest “do not Blend”💯

    82. Mickey

I go to Disney every other year lately it’s been every year contemplating moving to Florida but I’m not so sure I want to with him as governor. And if he runs for president or vice president, we are all in trouble.

    83. Sandra

Well you have your opinion, a lot of people here wish they would move and that there rainbow Finatticz with them!

    84. Deane rudofker

I wonder who is going to makeup the salaries of those employees who will be out of a job because of DeSantis desire to use this as a political move. Also, how will the people of Florida feel when their taxes go up because they will have to pay more in taxes because of the governors desire to control . Any one who voted for him again is nuts. He wants to be in control of everything. Just like a dictator

    85. Richard

      Amen

    86. The governor is the problem! He is evil and will do anything to destroy Disney. He’s the one who needs to move out of Florida. Although, I can’t think of where he would go unless he moves to another country.

    87. Yes..move to 3 states, North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia or a state that cares about diversity! The park can always be moved to 2 or 3 different states, all central on the borders, offer transportation and offer some kind of package deal between the states.
Split up Epcot from the main Park! A lot of the exhibits are indoors. The infrastructure is old you might be able to build a solar more efficient water park, there are so many possibilities with t new technology and the way buildings are being created today. you could build a new Disney World, just get it started and then move! Just think about all the jobs it would create in that town…Georgia would be great for the water park…pay attention to the way the weather is changing! Thanks for the opportunity I’m from Cleveland!

    88. Tony

Yeah, Disney will never leave Florida. The Board of Directors and shareholders will fire the current Disney leadership instead and get back to the buisness of making family entertainment void of political ideology of a small number of Disney executives who never knew Walt’s visions for family entertainment and values.

    89. Nellie

Disney is nothing but satanic. They are pushing Satanism in schools. Anyone who goes there is supporting their agenda.

    90. Me

What if your family was on one of their modes and something happpened and killed a bunch of people because it did NOT meet frd transportation safety? That is ehat its about

    91. Dwight owens

Governor De Santis has turned the state of Florida into a Facist state.

    92. B. Jarrett

Gov. De Santos, I am a former Floridian and you in all your glory makes me know that I made the right decision. You are an awful governor and a horrible human being.

    93. Robert Reed

If Disney shuts down that entire region shuts down all those jobs gone all those people unemployed and it’s not like they’re going to get a job as a character in another theme park we’re talking thousands upon thousands of jobs there’s a largest employing company in the state possibly the country in the DeSantis wants to blow that the State of Florida would never recover he’s got this pet peeve and it’s going to cost us everything our unemployment wouldn’t be able to handle that load where is it going to go to get jobs how are they going to pay their mortgages on the homestay purchased thinking they would work for Disney for 30 years

    94. Steve

Funny that all the “pay your fair share” democrats are on here pushing for Disney to retain its tax free status. Maybe they would have been fine had they stayed out of politics, more specifically against bills the governor wrote to protect elementary school kids from being taught sexual content. The magic is already gone with all the pro gay and trans bs and race swapping every character they have ever created. The company is a joke and deserves to go under.

    95. Cheryl

How are they not made in the best interest he’s just trying to keep people safe and Disney doesn’t want to

    96. Disney turned political the minute the Leftists infested it. Like Trump claimed “ Everything the Left touches turns to chit”! What’s wrong w/inspecting monorail workings? Families can’t afford the prices & do not want to pay for Trans/queer/leftist claptrap while visiting. Remember it is Disney that forgot their mission & think they’re a city ruled by its board of directors. Disney can fail just like Anhauser/Busch has.

    97. Cheryl Crowley

Thank you for your comment. I’m so glad there are other normal Floridians. I, too, am embarrassed by the state I grew up in. DeSantis is a petty, little boy and not what a governor should be.

    98. Bill ho

Disney leaving opens a big door for Universal which is a much better theme park than Disney. Also, disneys departure allows others in that industry to get a foot hold in orlando

    99. Mindy

Amen to that! Fascism is alive and well in the state of Flori-duh!

    100. msbav8r

So, you agree with Disney’s support of the left’s obsession with grooming and hyper sexualizing, as well as the chemical castration and mutilation of children. Noted.

    101. Joseph Cotler

Time for Disney to die they have had it too good for too long. They have swayed from Walt Disney’s vision decades ago.

    102. Kathleen Arnwine

I also hope they just leave. Our fascist governor doesn’t even belong in office. And certainly does not deserve to have disney in our state

    103. Ruben

What happened to free speech? The problem is Desantis is an Autocrat and wants to rule the lives of others. Imagine what this country would be with him as president. Probably worse than Trump.

    104. Donna

If I were Disney, I would not satisfy that POS and leave
It would cost them more money to.pick up and leave and rebuild.
I understand that he wants to inspect the monorail and the sky ride, but why all of a sudden is he going after Disney?

    105. Elizabeth A Newton

      agree

    107. Paul

Do don’t agree Disney has behaved like a bad player and engaged in a political debate that it has no business in. I hope the learn, but maybe Disney was about to die anyway.

    108. Susan Hoffa

Say no to desatan does he think he in the military ready to go to war. Evidently he goes to war with everyone, everything, he preaches freedom, then takes it away. There is a list. Fascism, authoritarianism, dictator, not needed or wanted in our country he has ruined FL. Imagine what he would do to your country?????

  2. Glenn

Our government needs to stay away from good people and safe places. He needs to run and loose the election his doners are leaving him, he is ignorant, should be best friends with Trump

    1. Susan G Northcutt

Another 10 year old with no brains

      1. Exactly!🤣

    2. Todd johnson

      Never my vote for anything

    3. Mary

Disney was great when Walt was alive not so much anymore guess I know where your allegiance lays😂😂

      1. Tony

        👆👆👆👆

  3. Mary K

Disney should just stop all Florida investment and just use it as a piggy bank to expand Disneyland. Buy more land in SoCal and build a third and fourth gate, buy out Knotts Berry Farm and not have it be a piece of crap.

    1. Zoe

THIS, stop all Florida money and use all Florida profits for California

  4. Mary K

Disney should just stop all Florida investment and just use it as a piggy bank to expand Disneyland. Buy more land in SoCal and build a third and fourth gate, buy out Knotts Berry Farm to make it a fifth gate.

    1. Pam

DeSantis is a moron. He is going to put so many people out of work, not only in the Orlando area but across the state. He needs to be removed from office before he destroys Florida.

      1. Chris

Disney needs to pack their crap and be gone. Nobody needs Disney here, move away and good riddance!

        1. Atomic Kommie Comics

          Unemployable girl Chris whines what?

          1. LZ

Disney should pay there taxes like everybod else. The cost of Disney is ridiculous. Disney is woke! There are even more serious issues that DeSantis should also be going after also. This website is also woke

        2. anonymous

Disney, with pocket change, could buy enough state elections, to end this crap

        3. Frank Smith

Yeah until you have thousands out of work, not Disney but a number of the hotels will close, restaurants, other attractions will suffer. Orlando would be a seldom visited town if Disney had not come so you fool yourself if you think Florida doesn’t need them desperately. Also DeSantis’s folly will cost the state millions in legal fees and he will lose in the end.

        4. Lee

Goodness, Chris, get your head out of the sand and take a look around. Sheesh!!

        5. John barnes

How about all those people who work there, they want them here, not to mention all the others jobs out side of Dw

        6. Cheryl

Your reply just shows you don’t care about all the families the their job is the support and it comes from working there

        7. Patrick

          🤨🤔🤷Spoken like a TRUE Southerner…🤣

      2. faackanders2

Impeach Desantis before he destroys central florida.

      3. EE

Only I woke liberal mind would think that. Look at the facts.

    2. Zoe Milan

That’s a great idea, don’t close WDW, just don’t hire more employees, don’t built new attractions. Just do very basic maintenance and use all the profits to fund California parks expansion.

      1. faackanders2

Disney should just treat WDW as cash cow until Desantis is out of office. Expand in CA and other states that wants them.

  5. Matthew

    DW is to expensive
The land could go to good uses & tax revenues

    1. Edward John Tobiasen

You crazy you heart Disney you heart all off Central Florida. Disney is Florida’s biggest employer

    2. Donna

Do you have a business capable of hiring all of the employees that will lose their jobs if
Disney pulled out of Florida? Right now our country try has the lowest unemployment rate in decades, and you want our state’s second largest employer to move out of our state. All because they don’t agree with someone else’s opinion? What has happened to us all having a right to our own opinions? Mine and yours are different, but I’m not going to try and force you to believe what I believe or make your life miserable over it. I hope Desantis wakes up and realizes the mistakes he is making and won’t have our state suffer for it.

      1. Truth Seeker

What about the woke expecting everyone to think like them and not have their own opinions. They are very quick to cancel anyone that doesn’t agree.

        1. Jim

DeSantis is the one trying to “cancel” a company because of a disagreement. DeSantis signed an awful bill. Disney voiced its disagreement and is now being punished. If Disney ends up leaving Florida it’s not going to be good for Florida. Florida will lose a lot of tax revenue and 10s of thousands of Florida residents will lose their jobs. It will also impact other nearby businesses causing even more people to lose their jobs. All because of the ego of Ron DeSantis because someone called him out because of that awful bill he signed.

        2. Todd

          What does woke mean again?

          1. K

Love your question! Let’s wait for the answer….. if we have a decade or two….

          2. msbav8r

            Woke means-Anti-white, pro-criminal, pro-illegal, and pro-pedophile.

          3. Elizabeth A Newton

Woke means awakened to the needs of others. To be informed, thoughtful, compassionate, humble and kind. Eager to make the world a better place for all people.

Woke (to me) connects to “awake” “awakened” “enlightened” “open minded.”

    3. Ted

      What are you talking about?

      1. Rita

        I second that! Thank you.

      2. Ken

Well there are many people moving to Florida who are not embarrassed to be here apparently. So for those that are you should move to California. And maybe they’re right that Disney should invest more in California. Land will be cheap there with everything boarded up!!

    4. It did go to good use and generates millions more than anything else would have. It will probably still be swampland.

    5. Atomic Kommie Comics

      What “uses”, specifically, girl?
Please delineate and cite unbiased sources to validate that empty rhetoric!

      1. Bob

Is there something wrong with your brain?

  6. John

I think instead of going after disney they should get rid of the governor and let guest injoy the most magical place on earth.

    1. faackanders2

      Impeach desantis

  7. Bloop

    It’s “Much ado about nothing”…Shakespeare 😉

  8. Cdawg

God Disney sure does suck now. Glad desantis is really bringing them to light and beating them at their own game. What a tota badass we have for governor.

    1. joe

So who thinks Disney is going to back up the trucks and move? How about Florida friendly entertainment company buy it for pennies on a dollar and call it “Florida World”? Maybe Universal?

    2. Greg

What a RINO. DeSantis hates capitalism just because a man in California spoke out against his Florida law. What a petty, whiny drama queen.
Yes, it isn’t feasible to move WDW overnight. But, in 10 years time? Totally feasible. All that really needs to be moved is EPCOT and Animal Kingdom to areas in California. Everything constructed can be deconstructed and moved. Let taxes be raised to try to make up for Disney tourism dollars. DeSantis will have a dagger through his political heart. Heck, he couldn’t beat Trump for the nomination now, even if Trump was in prison. He’d beat him from behind bars. DeSantis is weak, and everyone knows is.
Mess with the Mouse, and you’ll never take the White House.

    3. Jenny

Um. Are you kidding me? A badass? He’s a whiny baby. I don’t understand why he’s going after the place that built Florida as a vacation destination. Without Disney, the state would be a huge swamp. I agree that Disney should stop putting money into WDW. Build in the mid-West. That’s where most of the Florida tourists come from. And then DeSantos can kiss Disney’s ass as they leave Florida behind.

    4. Atomic Kommie Comics

      “DeSatan Uber Alles!”, con girl?

  9. JustAsked

If the transportation is safe, why not welcome the inspections?

    1. Leslie Opyd

Desantis needs to stop his culture war because somebody disagrees with him ( it is Disney’s right ) the governor is being Pette .how about doing something about are home insurance ,were at the bottom of the list in Florida in education ,etc. They do there own inspections ,just a waist of Florida money ,agsin

      1. Douglas Moss

What, exactly, is “Disney’s right”? Legally they can say what they want. But then legally Florida can do what it is doing. Why does Disney have rights but the people of Florida don’t? And last I checked companies don’t have “rights” to special treatment by the government in exchange for money. You should be against that.

    2. Stan

Because it won’t be an inspection, more like a witch hunt.

    3. Atomic Kommie Comics

Isn’t it odd, girl, that other sites don’t have to submit to such inspections?

    4. Sandy

They aren’t fighting the inspections. Ron is just trying to be a thorn in their side. Ron’s feelings were hurt now he’s using the legislature and our money to bully Disney.

  10. Roger A Goppelt

Desanda Istanbul or Disney? Who does America love. They love Disney and hate Dsandanista.

  11. David M

DeSantis has turned the State of Florida into a cesspool, and embarrassment.

  12. Rhea

Disney should keep counter suing and ride it out til DuhSantis is gone. What he us doing is not the will of the people.

  13. Ja

Disney needs to hire the mob and take Desantis out. Then all problems solved!

  14. Ted

Desantris will be long gone. soon i hope

  15. Chris

Disney doesn’t have to move. They could just close the park like they did with COVID and wait for a more favorable political environment.

    1. faackanders2

WDW and DL lost alot of money when they closed for COVID, and hopefully it doesn;t come back again where america is forced to shut down.

  16. Artie

Why shouldn’t Disney pay their fair share of taxes

    1. scottie

I am not sure if you understand the issue.
Disney pays the same taxes to Orange and Osceola Counties as every other resident. Then they pay taxes to Reedy Creek to pay for all the services that Reedy Creek provides (the same things that the counties would provide but Reedy Creek provides).
That means that Disney pays overall more taxes on their property than anyone else pays to the county. Do Not Fall for the Fake Talking points from Republicans

    2. Lee

I DO hear you there… that place makes a fortune how about giving it a tad back, huh?

    3. Mike

Disney pays their fair share and then some. Now the gov can run for president and still keep his job. If it doesn’t benefit DeSantis, he is not for it. Imagine him being president and getting butt hurt by a super power. Sanctions don’t do anything, guess we’ll drop some nukes. This jabroni will ruin everyone and everything.

    4. Lisa

Disney does pay their fair share of taxes – over $1.4 billion to Florida alone last year – and if you live in Orange or Osceola counties, they’re paying part of yours too. If they left, they would make a fortune selling the land, your taxes would increase by 20% and Florida would probably collapse. They’re the ones who put in and maintain a lot of roads in that area and set up the infrastructure for a lot of the water, sewage and electrical lines in those counties too. I think you should read the news more.

  17. Leslie Opyd

Desantis needs to stop his culture war because somebody disagrees with him ( it is Disney’s right ) the governor is being Pette .how about doing something about are home insurance ,were at the bottom of the list in Florida in education ,etc.

  18. Maria

Is this DeSantis World or Disney world? Florida’s governor is a jerk and has nothing better to do!

  19. Tom

Funny. I feel safer in every mode of transportation in Disney world than anywhere else in Florida. It’s laughable to think that the government can make things “safer”. Maybe the governor should be putting his focus into floridas condos, making sure another one doesn’t collapse and kill 100 people.

    1. faackanders2

I believe WDW and Universal are safest amusement parks in FL.

  20. John

It’s time Disney shut down for 6-8 weeks
80,000 people and Florida ‘s largest employer on unemployment during an election cycle
It would be disastrous for any party

    1. JR

Totally agree with that. Wonder how DeSantis will fare after Disney makes that move.

  21. Gus

Pl or plz or p just stay

    1. Chris

Go woke, go bye bye! F Disney. They’ve been ripping people off and not paying taxes while lying for years. Shut it down, open it wherever, take the employees with them. Clear the state out of the remaining liberal trash

      1. Lisa

To Chris, please read my reply to Artie above. You definitely need to wake up.

      2. Tom

Shut it down , Disney World has become pedo , child grooming land .

  22. MP

Amen! DeSantis is another follow the money trail and/or party The entire GOP in this country are being controlled by corrupt big money. They have become shameless in the pursuit of money. Shut down the doner money to keep this country free. Stoping abortion to have children slaughtered with guns is horrible on their part.
Unfortunately, Disney is just another company that has come under fire of a dictator. Hial DiSantis!

  23. One thing that’s true without any question. If that governor down in Florida keeps acting up, Georgia will welcome Disney with open arms. We’ll be glad to have the extra tax money that Disney will generate. That, and the overall revenue impact that it will have here.

  24. M

The Governor is in his own Fantasy land and needs to be voted out of all politics!!
Hope the real Government makes the right rescissions in this case

  25. Lee

The act of Florida inspecting these attractions instead of Disney is absolutely preposterous. I mean how long has Disney been doing this? I’ve been here since the day they opened and I don’t believe there’s been one serious mishap and most certainly not any of their doing.

    1. Dan

There was a monorail accident some years back that killed a cast member.

    2. ffaackanders2

A castmember was cut in half in carousel of progress, before it was redesigned with break away walls.
Someone trying to sneak in on top of monorail tracks was run in by monorails (and security guard was attempting to get him to jump down).
A boy wading in lake was eaten by aligator, now they have beach roped off and warning signs.
But overall Disney’s safety records are pretty goo over 60 years.

  26. Zorro

People will come to Florida with or without Disney. They have been getting away with all kinds of taxes and laws and regulations because they misled the state by promising a planned community that never happened. EPCOT was supposed to be a planned community with permanent residents and Disney was given all kinds of tax breaks because of that unmet promise. Ticket prices are through the roof. VIP’s can cut lines. Guests are bombarded with all kinds of emails, etc., prior to their visits. Etc.. The Magic Kingdom has lost its magic!

    1. Rick

Zorro, you’re not very foxy. Although true that a fraction of people would probably come to Florida with or without Disney there will not be as many and they will not spend nearly as much money as now. The State of Florida’s unemployment rate without Disney will increase tremendously and the State revenue would drop to the point taxes would have to partially fill the gap. How can such outcome be justified?

  27. Mouse lover

Desantis is a control freak! All he wants to do is to turn Florida into a totalitarian state, where the people have no say. The voice of the people my rear.

Not too long ago, Disney had at least one fatality when two monorails collided. Maybe their transportation NEEDS closer inspection. If Disney is getting huge tax breaks, why are they so upset about a little additional inspection of their operations? Do they have something to hide or is it just their huge God complex?

    1. Meetbhall

Imagine if you offended your doctor and his revenge was to schedule you for colonoscopy and prostate examines every weekend for a year.

Is he looking out for your health and safety or being spiteful because you offended him?

      1. ffaackanders2

        LOLARO!

  29. Tiger

This is pretty funny and ironic as a Californian and Disney fan because I remember back during tge pandemic people were calling for Disney to close up Disneyland and focus on Florida after the Govenor Gavin Newson closed tge park for a year.

The argument was Florida government has a better relationship with them who knows how business works.

Yeah it’s working wonders these days, especially when dealing with someone who is now coming off petty because they dare disagreed with him.

  30. matt weaver

Desantis needs to worry about bigger things than Disney!! Permitless carry!! Really!! Why is this guy still in office!!!! This tyrant needs to go!!!! If Disney goes so does tourism dollars and Florida is in deep trouble!!!

  31. Ron D

If every large corporation here were self governed.. With no oversight.. You wouldn’t have a state. Many examples of this across the world. We call it the united states. But it is actually fifty countries By just about any standard you measure it by.

  32. Free State

Sounds to me like a bunch of wokesters are upset. Too bad and go back hanging out with Elizabeth Warren and gang.

  33. Michael

Well according to meatballs deathsantis we are all free in florida except if you are critical of ron! Oh, and its the taxpayers paying for Ron’s culture wars! Want to read a book in florida better ask the secret police if it’s an approved book!

  34. Juanita

Tired of Disney and outrageous prices that common people cannot afford.

  35. Patty

He sucks he needs to get out he’s a bad governor I never vote for him leave Disney go creep don’t you have children how could you even be like that your heartless even with the gay community you are heartless oh you know how your kids is going to be when they grow up

  36. DH

    This website is trash

    1. Mickey

Go back to your rabbit hole, troll!

  38. I think DeSantis wants Florida to be like Mississippi and Alabama. Not bad places but not a thriving economy. I guess it is more important for him to punish Disney for disagreeing with him and asserting their 1’st amendment rights.

  39. K

Send all the pink and green hair morons to Aferica and start there own society away from God fearing people. Along with Joe Biden and kamala Harris. The worst leaders we have ever had. Also shut the border down.. and please tell everyone this is America speak English.

    1. Rob

America has no official language. And you have no spine. It’s easy to spew hateful crap with a blank profile, isn’t it? Everything you said is a vivid showcase for your vapid ignorance. You can look those words up, unless DeSantis has banned the dictionary too.

  40. Steve

    Go see ya

  41. I hope that Disney wins the court case and gets back all it’s power and eventually recovers

  42. Me

Disney’s land development completely changed the ecosystem and probably caused more harm to the everglades than anything else. Usually liberals fight against developments that destroy such vast and important areas.

  43. Kenny

I just left Disney World. 338.00 for two to tickets to Epcot. Zero discount for Florida residents. Sorry I’d pay more taxes and put Disney in somebody else’s back yard. I get zero benefits from this other than too many people in all the malls, roads and stores around me. Jobs go to mostly international students and locals have a hard time getting hired on.

    1. Kenny

Not to mention the crime…. If you are not from Florida you wouldn’t understand and shouldn’t post. We would love to put Disney and all that, that comes with it….

  44. Rolls Knardly

Wrong Desandwich is going to lose one way or the other. He’ll either lose in court, lose voters for attacking Disney at all or Disney will schedule ‘five years of maintainence’ and close it up until he’s gone, costing thousands of jobs and millions of dollars to the state.
There’s no benefit for the state of Florida to do this, it’s just Rhonda Sandwich and his hard on. Theres’ 180 “special districts” in Florida, none of the others are being punished, so it’s not about that.

    1. faackanders2

I was think whenif and when the monorail inspection bill passes, it would be a good time to pull ahead the major monorail maintenance or upgrade.

  45. Jon McDonald

It’s time to take DeSh!tstain down. Getting him out of Florida is much easier then moving Disney

  46. K

I’m just chilling with my big bag of popcorn…. watching DeSantis obliviously implode his image and career aspirations. His all-consuming insecurities make Trump look laid back and forgiving.

  47. Esther

DeSantis is the scariest politician in this country. First he’ll take Disney away and all other rights. We will all stop breathing in his world. What an ass he is.

    1. ffaackanders2

Both Trump and DeSantis are scary

  48. Deuce McGoose

Do the nuclear option for the length of summer, and see what becomes of desanctimonious.
Disney team up with universal, and seaworld, and shout down for the summer season. You would basically shut down the largest employer in the state (orlando area) hotels, restaurants, mom & pops, airports, not to mention the resort employees. There would be huge unemployment and all that unemployment payments the state would have to pay out for all those out of work, workers. Good news is…, they would have more time on their hands to do a recall election of desanctimoniousand his bunch. Yes, it’s cruel for all those out of work people, but maybe something might come out of it

    1. ffaackanders2

Universal Seaworld/Busch would love for their competiton to go away.

  49. Dan

So Disney is going to hold the state hostage? If the state doesn’t allow them to keep their own government, they will leave? Bye!

  50. Vv

Gov Ron desantis should leave Disney world alone worry about other stuff then Disney world for me governor sucks messed up rules hop he never make it to president he should worry about criminals and people that are in the streets don’t worry about Disney world

  51. PW

If the modes of transportation are safe then Disney has nothing to fear. Safety is of the upmost importance. Disney needs to show that they have nothing to hide….. or do they?

    1. faackanders2

govt could tag along on current inspections to learn their process as a spot check.

  52. Ken

Disney should be ashamed of their actions. It used to be a safe place for kids to be kids without being subjected to sexual subject matter. I can’t see anyone being against a law that stops exposing children under 8 to this or limiting access to books with such subjects! That is NOT banning books! Walt must be spinning in his frozen grave!

    1. Mickey

Removing books from school libraries is the thing to keep us safe from being welll educated. Instruction in history must be purged of any truth inconvenient to the dictator. Threatening journalists is required to provide an alternative reality.

    2. Rob

What sexual subject matter are you referring to? And by the rules of what DeFatAss laid out, the Bible has to go too because of the su jext matter.
But you go ahead and stay uneducated and let the far right “tell” you what’s true in this world.

      1. faackanders2

Bible should be banned from Libraries and Hotel rooms for all the violence that is in it.

  53. KATTY

Backwoods Florida. South FL, Key West, Orlando & Tampa is pure sex, all kinds, gay, straight bi, porn, orgies, drugs, & constant parting. All these politicians partake & welcome it. But this FAT B$%^h De Santis is on some moralistic high horse bc he wants to be Pres. FL is full of degenerates & hypocrites

  54. Avanteguard

The decent segments of the Florida populace strongly support the actions of our great Govenor DeSantis, and his valiant and brilliant efforts to improve our state and protect our freedoms and establish Florida as the best state in America , and he is deserving of our praise and support !

    1. Rob

      Wait…
Banning books and classes is freedom?
I don’t think that fits the definition.
Fighting with a private company because they disagree is governing? What in the Twilight Zone are you smoking?
This has nothing to do with Florida. This is about that small, fat, insecure little man’s ego, plain and simple. He’s no match for tRump, the rest of the US or the world. He is finished politically after his term ends.

  55. Ginger

DeSantis is acting like a spoiked child with a temper tantrum. I am a registered Republican and would NEVER consider him for presient. He has priven he is not fit. I hope Disney wins in court. We welcome Disney in Tennessee!

    1. Mickey

Thank you, Ginger! It’s a small minority of political extremists who are attacking Disney. We love Tennessee! Florida is getting crapped up by contamination spread by our sorry excuse for a Governor.

  56. George

Say no to trolls…IF you lived in FL you’d never say what you said…true FL.know the many breaks we get via tourism

  57. AuburnBlue

This is what happens when a state turns the government over to a power mad, autharitarian wannabe, who is hell-bent on creating a “culture war” that 3/4 of the country doesn’t support. The republican party in this country has turned full fascist and, unless the people wake up now, the country is done. No one thought Rome would ever fall either.

If I was desantis, I would rather up my war. Blockade all the park entrances, raise the toll road to $100, charge a $500 fee for everyone using a Florida airport. Destroy Disney and watch the fire burn.

    1. Ron Fan

Also, tax all Disney employees a 95% income tax, and put them all on a no-fly list.

  60. Setve

If I was desantis, I would rather up my war. Blockade all the park entrances, raise the toll road to $100, charge a $500 fee for everyone using a Florida airport. Destroy Disney and watch the fire burn

    1. S

That’s honesty not enough, they should fine Disney a trillion dollars and get the prime minister of the the United States to close down the business.

  61. Kobina

Simply put this entire process to the voters to vote upon in a special election once and for all..

    1. JOHN

No, time to break up Florida and rescind it’s statehood, turn it back to a territory so it is in control by the feds.

  62. Kweku

Why not have the local residences in all the areas call a special election?? This should allow a strong message to DeSatan being told to back off or allow.. This special vote will be what the people to decide NOT the governor..

  63. Natasha

I know it really doesn’t matter what side you’re on there’s always going to be two different signs. The fact is the Disney they had to do some things. Our own employees were getting upset that they weren’t speaking up against this bill that DeSantis was putting out there that was just very insulting to K people I mean, even if you’re on his side you have your neck it was insulting it’s clear abundantly clear that DeSantis just hates gay people. And of course Disney had to say some thing on the Gessen employees were getting pretty upset about it so they spoke up and they’re allowed to have their opinion regardless of what you think not everyone has to agree with DeSantis and no I never hated DeSantis. I actually agreed on a lot of his issues but not this one and I only say that because we have the right to freedom of speech and he is retaliating against Disney for having theirs and it’s not right and it’s illegal and that’s why he’s doing this , this isn’t for the people and I agree that Disney also isn’t exactly for the people I mean their business and that’s what they do. They’re about making money not being everyone’s friend but at the same time this was a sensitive subject and everyone who works for him most everybody and I guess they came in there from all over the world wanted Disney to stand up for them And so they did. And DeSantis doesn’t like it because Disney is huge and it made him look bad. And if DeSantis doesn’t stop this child for temper tantrum, she’s going to destroy the trust that the voters having him because they’re gonna end up paying for it at the ticket booth. They’re gonna lose their transportation at Disney. A lot of things are gonna end up going away or causing more because of what he’s doing and in the end of it all, he’s gonna end up losing all his voters support.

  64. Fred

Sounds like children on both sides. Ronnie isn’t winning my vote, and I’m a rabid right wing extremist. Big deal, you’re picking a fight with a major employer because of political theater. I’m supposed to be impressed? Go wail at the wall again goy

    1. Jacqueline Hamilton-Clark

DeSantis is an egotistical and arrogant moran. I know Disney will kick him back into the Dark Ages in court. Florida needs to wake up and smell the coffee. If you Floridians don’t take a stand on the destruction of your state by “Disantics”you will be unemployed, penniless and in poor health. You will quickly move from upper middle class to lower class in one quick swoop.
Disney will survive no matter what because they have the magical touch of success

  65. Garry

Whatever you can say about Disney, the Disney brand has never been about hate. DeSantis has nothing else. Disney needs to move quietly behind the scenes to get rid of this idiot and bring in someone responsible.

  66. DeSantis should resign for bullying Disney for disagreeing on treatment of gays.

  67. Roger

Anyone who thinks Disney cannot exit Florida should review the history of auto companies exiting the Midwest in the 1970s and 1980s.

    1. Jory

They were comparatively far smaller, though.

Disney World is so massively large that it’s just not feasible to rebuild elsewhere. Maybe another park, but anything on the scope of Disney World would probably never happen a second time.

      1. Mary

It’s not that hard to “move” Disney world. Just stop spending money on it and use it as a cash cow to fund California and Paris.

That’s most likely what these people mean.

  68. Linda

DeSantis is sick…we have people in FT Myers that still have not recovered from Ian, homeless, red tide, seaweed that is going to start washing up on our shores…and he is fixating on Mickey Mouse? Get a life RON, your people come first, not your ego…..

  69. LSanders

I am personally tired of DeSantis crap. If Disney decides to leave I don’t blame them. They could just leave the parks and hotels they have and invest more into another state. It would be sad to see them go.

  70. JeffinMass

Ron DeSantis thinks he can win the election by defeating Disney. That’s the exact reason he is going to lose big time. Trump will make sure of that. After all Trump lives in Florida. I wonder what DeSantis’ family and children think? Just sayin.

  71. Steve

    Sorry Disney,
You don’t get to run this state or create a state within a state. Our elected governor runs the state on behalf of we the people. If everything is safe and in order, you have nothing to be concerned about. Disney’s transportations systems are probably fine, but their core is rotten and has become so woke and toxic that it pushes its lefty agenda on kids with every opportunity it has. Shame on Disney, Let kids be kids, stop pushing your crap on them. I am a Florida resident, I say .. let them Go! Funny how Universal isn’t having problems.. ask yourself why..

    1. Mary

All Disney needs to do is to let’s the courts do it’s thing and win billions from Florida. Thanks for funding the third and fourth California park 🙂

  72. Vinny

The governor of Florida should concede and go hide somewhere.
He is not a nice person. He has taken this Disney “I will rule you ” too far. This is the way our country is getting destroyed.
Politicians need to get real rather their fake BS.
DESANTIS has made this world as dangerous as DT.

  73. Mel

How often has Disney influenced politics? How? Contributions to pacs, Sabre rattling. I’m sure they inspect their transportation systems regularly. What are they worried about? Just another big business trying to throw its weight around. We get mad when we see companies make a profit at the expense of higher prices to the consumer. But this one gets defended. It doesn’t make sense to me. Do you really think their politics are anything more than PR. Evoke emotions to make money. They don’t care about rights anymore than the politicians in Washington. Where the money is for an entity will drive the message they put out. Period !

  74. Tim Threinen

I am a Canadian. I love Disney. To tell you the truth! If all they are doing is trying to regulate transportation. Big deal. Our family experienced the gondola failure twice during our stay. Horrible. Here in canada. TSSA a third party between government and private sector regulate all saftey! The monorail. I agree should jave annual inspections. I lived in Japan my wife in hongkong. We reside in Ottawa Canada. And let me tell you our O Train sucks. Its a fight here for a decent safe running tranportation system. If Desantis is trying to nickle and dime Disney. Thats wrong. If he wants safety for modes of transportation, thats agreable! We were stucknon the gondola. Disney would have been smart to buy one from a skinresort that runs in the mountains. Duh! The monorail. Its aging. Lets be safe. It improves bidding for contractors, YET it must comply with a 90% safety pass rating by an engineer. Maybe Disney has the oportunity to build that city!!!! Show the world IGER. With all the tech behind Disney world what the world could be. Put Florida on stage and make tomorrow land real. The real estate and attraction of one of the most modern cities in the world are up for grabs.
Hire me you’ll see Disney Desantis. This is your option.

    1. faackanders2

Gondolas shut down when thunderstorms are near.

  75. Love Disneyworld

De Santis is definitely targeting Disneywolrd and biting the hand that feeds him. I hope Bob Iger files a few more lawsuits, scales back his business and expands in his other parks.

DeSantis and his regimen are only here for 4 years. He won’t be 8n office forever.

  77. Joe

Get ready Floridian Republicans who voted for DeSantis.. if Disney leaves Florida, guess who’s taxes are going up to make up for ALL of that revenue loss…

  78. Josh Shaffer

DeSantis is a 5 yr old throwing a fit because disney didn’t go along with him. He has lost his mind picking a fight with what is most likely the largest employer in the State. Maybe he should look out for the residents of the state and not his inflated ego!

  79. Tom

    Good riddance!

  81. Peter

Be a Man or Woman let children be children and grow up.

  82. Glen

Disney is wrong. They should shut up and sit down figuratively speaking.

  83. Disney blows

The article states “this has much to do about nothing”. Obviously this writer is a moron. If Disney stuck to entertaining and didn’t get involved in politics this would not even be an issue. I have zero sympathy for them or anyone who agrees with them. DeSantis is 100% right by doing what he did.

  84. Mickey

Any nut job can run for President. But they will eventually get crushed.

  85. Brad

Every ride in the park has to have a state safety inspection but the problem is that the paperwork is done by Disney employees and sometimes those employees don’t do their job to the fullest. Many people forget that a Disney employee was killed while operating a monorail car. The death was caused by faulty maintenance. And in California, there was a fatality and 10 injuries on Thunder Mountain when the train uncoupled due to faulty maintenance as well. Are you against safety inspections now?

    1. faackanders2

Disney does have safety inspections. Invite govt to observe/spot check.

  86. DeSantis is a moron. He’s going full fledged, all out war on Disney. Bad idea. When this politician threatens to build a prison outside of Magic Kingdom. Then goes on his comic book tour. And, vows to destroy Disney. If I were the top brass of Disney, I would seriously consider moving to another state. Especially, when you have a governor who acts like a screaming child when you say “no” to them. It’s a shame that Florida has 2 infantile fools like their state. And, for all of you dumb-dumb Floridians who think that Disney will never leave. All of you are just as brain dead as DeSantis & He whose name must not be mentioned. (It’s last name begins with the letter “T”) I personally hope that all of you fools lose your theme parks.

    1. faackanders2

I call him “He who shall not be named (mentioned)” also.

  87. Patrick S

Disney should never have gone political and should have stayed a neutral business. A political entity must be voted for in the State of Florida. A political group that has not been voted in power, has no rights to build, maintain or plan transportation, water and power systems, that effect the lives of millions of the voters in Florida.

Disney was given a special districting agreement. That does not mean that it’s forever. My grandfather, A. J. Geiger was on the board for the state of Florida which approved the agreement. He thought that Disney had to much power and was responsible for changes before approval.

Disney is a Business, nothing else. I grew up loving everything Disney and was definitely sprinkled with Pixeydust. Sorry to say, no longer. They won’t leave but who cares. Now they might have to pay taxes.

  88. Kim

DeSantis did right! Disney ( a company) can not have its own government within. It should apply fro Statehood.either way they are bound by federal & state laws! No other companies govern themselves nor should they.

  89. Peggy

    Let’s address 2 issues.

1 Disney has the capability to move. They built China and France.

Start a 3 rd US theme park while not investing millions in Florida. Good luck maintaining those roads

    2. Having Florida inspect those rides open them to injury liability should they not catch something.

Disney inspects not only for safety but for liability reasons.

Personal injury law suits could cost millions.

    1. faackanders2

Tokyo, Hong Kong, and CA also.

  90. Vk24

I’m sure it’s been said many times, but why is the government seem to want to change the whole “status” of Florida? With that many tourists visiting each year, at what point does he realize that he’s going to cause ppl from visiting? There already are groups advising ppl to not visit, or move, to Florida. Less tourists, less incoming revenue into the state. I was considering moving to Fla, but if he’s gov in 4 years and the state is running the way HE wants, then no longer would consider it. I have friends that just moved there recently, who now are saying what a mistake it was.

    1. George

Disney injected it self into politics when it bought into ABC & Fox. Let them have the same fate as that other woke company Bud Lite. My kids are mine ,not the Disney’s, School Board’s, Big Business, or the state’s. LET DISNEY LEAVE & take their tax dollars and woke agenda with them. Begone with them.

    2. faackanders2

I am reconsidering not retiring in Florida also. Desantis is anti business and anti choice.

  91. DJTLUVSPUTIN

RepublicSCAMS are moving toward autocracy…. they dont care what the majority of Americans or even their own party think… Trump, DeSantis and MAGATS hate America.
President Biden is about the middle class, jobs.and infrastructure to build America Better. Republicscams like Deathsantis are about Bud Lite, banning books and allowing AR 15s in your library…. thats if they havent closed it. Vote the Deplorables out….
    Lets Go Biden… 2024

    1. faackanders2

Vote Blue Wave and restore freedom and safety.

  92. What DeSantis is doing is blatantly unconstitutional. Corporations have First Amendment rights just like you and me.

  93. Maria

Disney World has been here in Florida since before Gov. meatball was even born and it will continue to be here long after his reign. All Disney has to do is wait it out and if they want to continue to fight the bully while they’re waiting, even better.

  94. Cracker

CLOSE WHO CARES MOVE TO GA

  95. Kat

Desantis is the Megan markle of Florida. He thinks he’s going to take down the kingdom. Without disney, Florida is just a bunch of rednecks, sinkholes and alligators. Disney made Florida a vacation destination and created businesses, infrastructure, hotels and an airport to support it. The reason why Florida has no state tax is due to tourism.

    1. faackanders2

Disney did not make Orlando Airport. Florida did that. Give credit where credit is due.

  96. George

Disney injected it self into politics when it bought into ABC & Fox. Let have the same fate as that other woke company Bud Lite. My kids are mine ,not the Disney’s, School Board’s, Big Business, or the state’s. LET DISNEY LEAVE & take their tax dollars and woke agenda with them. Begone with them.

  97. Alison

If you’re going to quote Shakespeare, at least get it right. It’s “much ado about nothing”, not “much to do about nothing.” All credibility is lost.

  98. Jerry

If it’s this easy for desantis to make up new laws why doesn’t he do something about homelessness in the state and leave Disney alone!! Disney has a no discrimination hiring rule. What do you think bobblehead?

  99. Sera

Why should Disney be able to do whatever they want? It’s supposed to be a family place not a WOKE playground. All Disney cares about is money! I used to go when Walt Disney was alive, today’s “Disney” is not what he intended. All the WOKE Democrats should start their own resort. This country is being destroyed with all their cancel culture. Dr. Suess is bad but Cardi B and her nasty songs are ok? What’s wrong with you people? I wouldn’t care if Disney did shut down, it’s not what it used to be and it’s almost not even affordable to go. Over $100 a day per person?! They can keep their wokeness and 5 ft. Mouse! Glad I went as a kid when it truly was more about families than money or politics! Get a clue Disney, you’re not untouchable!

  100. Joe

Yea, I’m so disappointed with Florida’s leadership.
DeSantis forgets about the hand that feeds Florida’s economy. Everyone, include Disney, has the right to disagree with policies. DeSantis should have just ignored Disney’s comments. I’m an independent that lean’s Republican, but it will be a long time before I will vote for a Republican in Florida or in the United States.
    Disney should leave Florida.

  101. Matt

When I can decide my own taxes and not pay my employees enough to live on then I’ll believe Disney has a voice in what they think is right.

  102. Jason B

Desantis is just another snowflake crybaby republietard.

  103. Mickey

The anti woke Czar who has been offended will try to silence his critics by arresting those of us who displease him, in his dream world of Soviet Russia communism.

    1. Matt

      Yeh Biden needs to go

  104. Denis

  105. Mary

I’ve lived in Florida my whole life. I’ve been to Disney World several times. It’s the only theme park that has something for everyone. I’m for Disney and freedom of speech. I’m a state employee and I do not share his views.

    1. Matt

Then go take a pay cut and go work for them Disney then

  106. Real world

I always beleave Disney had to much power in our state. They act like, there are the goverment. Nothing passes in this state if it takes one red penny from there world. Disney has ruled over this state for many years. They controll tourism more then most people realize. They controlled casinos from coming to this state for many years because they didn’t want one red penny to go south of them. I beleave DeSantis show great leadership and no fear of the greedy Disney world. Wake up Florida people will still come to are sunshine state without Disney. Yes it hurts workers up north but they will have to join the rest of Fl. We survived and strive in south Florida with out (Dizzy world.)

  107. David

Well John, You’ve really messed up Florida and you’ve messed up Disney and you expect us to vote for you for president. I hope you waste all of the GOP’s money and lose lose and lose.

  108. Sera

What is wrong with all of you? Do you actually think this country is going great? Everything about this country is a HUGE mess! The government is destroying what this country used to be. There is more hate, violence and indifference than there has ever been and the sad part is the beautiful residents of this country are blaming each other because that’s what this corrupt government wants. Shift the blame to the Republicans or Democrats or LBGTQ organization, or any other group that they can get you to hate. We are in the middle of a huge crisis first of all with our borders. The amount of people (not all decent ones) and the drugs. Come on Americans wake up, not WOKE up! If we all stood together to make them hear our voices (that’s supposed to be what the corrupt politicians get paid to do) all these clowns do is push what they want and try to have us turn on each other so they can continue to line their pockets and let people who don’t even belong in this country (Soros) run this country. They are so blinded by their greed and money, they are willing to let hard working Americans destroy each other. Wake up people. Our values have disappeared! Are all these “grown” people really arguing about a corporation that doesn’t give 2 shits about anybody but themselves? Most normal families can’t even afford to take their kids to Disney! It costs too much. Let’s see the Disney Folks do something about that! Do you really think they need the prices that high? They’ve made enough money over the years (by controlling themselves) that they could run for a year or longer by not charging for entrance. How about giving a not-so-well-off-family a chance to take their children to “the most magical place on earth”? Right, you’ll never see that happen. Wake up people Disney only cares about their money. So you keep fighting for them and see where that gets you! Good luck. Put your energies where it will do some good for a change. Trust me Disney doesn’t care about you or your opinions, only your wallet!

  109. Benjamin Jordan

I am not a real good user of the Walt Disney World but my family comes and we go and visit him. I don’t go on my own I’m 75 but my family loves it and this would be a terrible thing for the governor to mess up this beautiful theme, park, and all of its good feelings, because he worries about LGB to people I guess he has a phobia or something

  110. AG

DeSantos is an asshat that needs to get his butt kicked in a national election. That would simmer him down.

  111. Ricky

Disney did this to themselves, if they simply stuck to entertainment as they were intended this wouldn’t even be an issue

  112. Mae

Hope DeSantis is about to lose about 50-80%(or different percentage just estimating not certain) of tourism, majority of people go there just for disney

    1. Michael

Not true! Florida is the best state ever with the best beaches, houses, golf places and other theme parks. Florida is also way better than any other states. I’d be scared to live in states like California where there’s high crime rate, homelessness and lawlessness because their Governor do not care about the people but himself. People need to stop just believing in everything they are told and start educating themselves on what truly is happening. Many people nowadays are bandwagon thinkers & are brainwashed with what is more loud even if the obvious right decision is in front of them.

  113. Manny

I’ve stopped buying anything made in or that comes from Floriduhh. I used to buy supplies for my tattoo studios from Floriduhh based companies..not anymore. My gf recently picked out rings for our wedding….then I found our they company was headquartered in Floriduhh.
Nope. Even canceled our family reunion vacation evven though it cost me $3000. Because I just won’t spend my dollars in a hater state.

  114. Rigoberto

I believe Disney should leave. The state of Florida once again has gone nuts. But this time politicians are using their might to punish Disney because of their views and believes. Disney should pack and go especially now that Florida passed the immigration law. How can Disney built when the hardest workers have left or leaving Florida.

  115. Pat

I can’t see Disney leaving, Billions and Billions of Dollars to rebuild somewhere else. They are established in Florida. Will they be able to get the amount of property they have now to built. Weather is a factor too. They will not build in a state that gets very cold a few months of the year. They have investors who will not back them possibly. They also have the public involved. People bought into their DVC resorts(real estate) in Florida. They just can’t move all that to another state. They would possibly have to buy everyone out. Many factors in. Just my opinion though

  116. James Gonzalez

The Governor has been amazing at what he does on being just & not giving in to wrong decisions. As much as I love Disney, it is sad that they gave in to wokeness & does not present to be a safe place for kids anymore. They decided to meddle with politics so now, they are getting politicize which should have been expected. Do unto others what you want others to do unto you. Maybe if Disney makes the right decisions that the governor would soften his heart & be considerate but no one is above the law, even if you have a great influence. I’m a Disney stockholder but them using their influence to lean in to the wrong political decision is going to hurt them & is inappropriate so they should expect the same blow until the begin making the right decisions again.

  117. Fusu Fusu

I remember when Disney was deciding where to put Disney World. They looked at Miami first. Miami put so many restrictions that Disney passed on Miami. Orlando promised them everything and begged them to build there. They made a deal, and now DeSantis wants to change the rules. I don’t care how long ago it was. You agreed to something. You have no right to go back on that deal.

  118. Disney fan

I can tell EXACTLY what’s going to happen… And Desantis is going to lose big time!!! Disney will win the battle… Desantis has just destroyed his political career, right down the drain… What Desantis did is absolutely ILLEGAL and if this goes all the way to the supreme court .. Desantis will lose…

  119. Cheryl

I think he should be looking at how much money Disney brings to Florida. He is out of his mind if he thinks that Disney doesn’t take care of the transportation. Get him out of office before he brings Florida down.

  120. Piciurs

Love it. About time this corporation is out into check and realize that they must answer to the voters(OF THIS STATE) and follow Florida’s laws. PERIOD.

    1. Bob

      Thanks for the laugh!

  121. Bob

Florida is no longer a pleasant state to live. I hope some day the people of Florida can enjoy once again what the State can offer. This will require the state once again being operated to the majority opinion of the residents instead of one persons bull headedness!

  122. BigD

Good riddance Disney! Don’t let the door hit you on the way out!

  123. David

Disney is promoting child sex practices that Floridians do not approve of, they need to stick to entertainment and stay out of our political wishes!! No private industry should have its own government..Disney Lies and American Citizens Have and Will Die!!!

    1. Homer10

      trumpster alert. Believe nothing.

  124. Conservatives sucks

I hope Desantis loses and then ends himself. He’s a blight and hopefully he’s gone sooner than later

  125. DilbertJM

Disney’s agenda goes beyond making money or Family entertainment. Every state entertaining accepting Disney will have to deal with there same Woke agenda of degeneracy and could eventually regret the Disney takeover. My state is one of those mentioned and has NOT done a good job keeping out CRT or revisionist history ideology. In fact our students are too ignorant to even understand what is wrong with hateful revisionist indoctrination teaching self hatred to young people.
Let Florida make a stand in the courts where this battle belongs. DeDeSantis is one of the few standing up and speaking for Parental Rights. The rest opposing DeSantis “know not what they do” out of their own programming and allegiance to propagandist!

  126. Flman594

    Let them go!! Good bye

  127. Fort Wilderness

    Disney ruined Orlando good riddance

  128. She

The Disney bubble gone because of DeSantis? The Disney Dream bubble was killed long before Disney started throwing its woke weight around in Florida and raising the ire of the state’s leadership. DeSantis didn’t pass his protection acts on his own. Disney has been committing suicide with fans on its own for years. WDW needs to get back at what it was good at.. a good, clean, well maintained place for families.

  129. Robert

Maybe Disney does get a few more breaks then other businesses but if not for Disney we would probably have a State Income Tax. If Disney does leave the Governor will have that cross to live with. Last time I went there I asked how many people work there, He said 75,000.

  130. Dave

Dumbsantus is messing with the wrong business. Face it,Florida is Florida because of Disney. They’re the biggest employer in the state and the highest tax revenue for the state. Not that they would but if they decided to pickup and go to texas,Georgia or the Carolinas to build Disney Universe ,Florida would be in for a world of hurt. Dumbsantas needs to wake up and not worry about Disney. They’ve been fine for 50 years.

  131. Lee

Andrew Boardwine is a Disney hater and most likely a MEGA GOP insurrections.

  132. Henry

Desantis is showing his true colors! A petty man that cannot handle someone disagreeing with him! This is a good warning to all of he ever get to be president he will behave like a dictator…

  133. faackanders2

They closed the parks under COVID to minimize deaths and sickness spreading (mutating). The first wave Delta was extremely deadly, and a later omnicron wave was extremely contageous (but less deadly). Let’s hope it never mutates to both extremely contageous and extremely deadly.

  134. M

DeSantis is cutting off his nose to spite his face in this. It’s a personal vendetta that has nothing to do with what floridians want.
Disney built a city from empty swampland is the reason Orlando area is now theme park mecca. Yes, WDW could move. It’s easier than people think, leaving an abandoned mess for Ron to clean up since he’s desolving Reedy Creek. I don’t think it’ll come to that, Disney could tie him up in court until elections when Florida will oust the tyrant.
Everyone should read on how Disney created this area from nothing. It was phenomenal.

    1. faackanders2

Disney should treat WDW as a cash cow till Desantis is out of office. Expand in CA and other states where Disney is welcome.

  135. Brenda Bourne

When is the next Governor of Florida election? Hopefully the Florida population will vote him out and the next governor will realize and thank Disney for how much Disney gives to the state of Florida!

    1. faackanders2

      Vote blue wave!

  136. Nan

It looks like to me this governor had a bad child hood life. No fun at all in his life. He has to take his full of it’s self and take it out on the biggest company in the world. But I blame the ceo who was in charge at the time this happen. He increased the prices that really no one is able to afford to come to any more. So both is to blame. The governor act like a spoiled little brat that he point his finger and damn those if he don’t get his way. You better all think if you want this man in control of the U.S. come NOVEMBER 2024. YOU THINK WE’RE MESSED UP NOW HELP US ALL COME 2024. He need to leave Disney along because Walt is dead but he had something special to share with the world. It was not bothering anyone. But know it is who wants the high control. Leave it alone Mr Florida governor and ceo disney bring back what Walt expected .

  137. Teresa

What is the big deal about having a monorail and sky whatever inspected. If they are afraid of inspections I’d be afraid to ride. If they are up to safety codes why do they care about inspections?

  138. Mike

The Jim Jones mentality has run a muck.

    Disney should relocate to Bermuda!

    Capitalism at its best!

No comet rides for Mickey and the gang!

  139. Dan

    Love this Governor
..Disney acts above the law. Most libitard, woke company in America…needs to be boycotted. Wouldn’t care if the whole thing burned down. World would be a better place.

    1. Jp

Desantis is a raging, flaming, leaping, gaping, yawning, screeching a$$hole

  140. Mike

The Jim Jones mentality has run a muck.

    Disney should relocate to Bermuda!

    Capitalism at its best!

No comet rides for Mickey and the gang!

  141. Sharon Ulstad

I’m in California, thank goodness, near Disneyland, and I so wish Disney could move WDW somewhere else and let Florida feel THAT result. Maybe they will? I don’t know where. Maybe use all the $$$ from WDW and buy up property around Disneyland to expand operations…our politics will always be agreeable to them and any creative project. F*** FL and it’s pr*** governor.

  142. Jp

Desantis is a raging, flaming, leaping, gaping, yawning, screeching a$$hole

  143. faackanders2

Disney should treat WDW as cash cow rill DeSantisis out of office. Expand in CA and other states where Disney is welcome.

  144. Steve

DeSantis has a God complex. He thinks he’s a God and Superior to everyone else. It’s pretty obvious all you got to do is look at him. And perhaps many didn’t notice that he never smiles, he never laughs, and he’s just downright mean. But most of all he thinks he’s Superior to everyone, a classic superiority complex. People will see through him, eventually.

  145. Lawrence Marobella

Disney should just stay out of politics and stick to entertaining. Any company that is in a business of providing a service or product should just concentrate to providing the best product or service they can. Disney got involved with the bill that the liberals have dubbed the don’t say gay bill. Which basically stops educators in the state of Florida from talking to students about sexuality to children in grades K-3rd grade. The bill never mentions anything about saying the word “gay”.
Disney was pressured by some of its employees to speak out against the bill. That’s what started the rift between the governor and Disney. Ron Desantis didn’t start the argument, Disney did. Now just like Bud Light it’s blowing up in their faces.

  146. Terry

If only Disney would just stop grooming kids….

  147. Stephen

Florida residents have kept this moron in office for far too long – time to send him on a permanent Disney Cruise. Mt thoughts go to all the kids & families that would miss out on the magic of going to Disney World if they decide to close the park. All because of one arrogant & brain-dead politician.

  148. Doug

Disney has over 4 billion dollars tied up un the buildings and infrastructure that is Disney World. Even the hint that Disney would close up and move to another state is fear mongering. All the crying and complaining is over the fact that Disney will fall under the SAME LAWS, REGULATIONS, and TAX STRUCTURE as every single other theme park and large corporation in the State of Florida. So give me a break with the threats!

  149. Dean

I think things have gotten totally out of control and now they are arguing like fourth graders. Walt in the beginning wanted control over his own “ stuff” because he found local codes, restrictions etc were too lax. Also when I hear about WDW not paying taxes, how about 787 million in property taxes in 2021. Isn’t that enough? I like both parties here. Let’s talk like sensible people and get back to the manufacturing of happiness.

  150. Don Church

Disney’s CEO and the Florida Governor should sit down and solve these issues, face to face.
That the lawyers for both sides are going back and forth is ridiculous.

  151. Mark

For more than 50+ years, and when De Santis was still a young boy, millions of Americans have been entertained by Disney and still entertaining millions of citizens every year by one of the best run corporation in the world and here comes an authoritarian governor who thinks he’s governing Florida as efficient as Disney. Far from it and you know what? Disney will still be here 50 +years from now.

  152. Enrique Falcón

Once again, when people vote for an incapable imbecile, just to support a political party regardless of what’s going for their state, county, city or country, consequences are always undesirable.

So let this be a historical lesson for all. Hopefully one day voters will realize that voting has consequences and liabilities.

  153. John

F Florida. Disney should leave florida.. I used to go to Florida twice a year since the 80’s but haven’t gone in 6 years. Disney should get out of the south and come up north. I find southerners nasty sobs.

  154. Ell Stein

This is all about the ego of an anarchic governor who wants his own way for no good reason . Disneys safety record is impeccable and probably higher than any state requirements . This governor needs to go before he completely destroys Florida .

  155. Pat

Ḍisney lost its magic years ago with the overcrowding powered by greed. It’s become painful to experience all that is Disney now.
When you have to wait hours to get on a ride, where’s the joy? Jostled around between the tens of thousands of sheep they let in is torture and to hear the little ones crying from exhaustion from waiting in lines is so sad. it’s time someone stepped up d made them accountable. They should have to follow the same rules as everyone else and pay the same as any other business. Thank goodness we have someone with the guts to fight for what’s right.

  156. The Great. Santini

DeSantis is doing a fine job and everybody that has enough common sense is moving to Florida .The state’s population is constantly on the rise . Being at there’s no state income tax and no libtard policy attracts all to move the Florida .As long as the libtards don’t move here. So attention libtards do yourselves a favor. Do not move here and if you libtards have Sons I’m sure you have the urge to castrate them and throw sweet 16 parties for them and for all the rest of the libtards that have girls I’m sure the urge for you all is to let them have mastectomies and invite them into strip clubs. Either way do not move to Florida we don’t need you and we don’t want you.

  157. Boscoe

Desanctimonious, please stop spending FL taxpayers $$$ to fund your ideology.

  158. Sam

If Disney were to leave, would DeSantis open Fascist World?

    1. Sam

😆😆😆that’s what are country could be if he were to be president . He doesn’t care about anyone else’s views that’s for sure

  159. Marcello

If DeSantis punitively interferes with day to day operations at Disney, the company should voluntarily close its operations until the situation changes. Yes, the company will take a temporary loss but the economic catastrophe it will create in central Florida will destroy not only DeSantis’s reputation but take down his legislative cronies as well.

  160. Lynco25

Desatan is only looking out for himself he’s been looking for fight. Why do that with something like Disney who brings billions of revenue to the state of Florida. I agree Disney should call him on it. It’ll cost them. But they could definitely open another park in another state and shutdown the one in Florida. Companies do it all the time.

  161. Junior

This world is getting worse than ever. The economy will take a big hit in Kissimmee/ Orlando areas. As it is many families have grown into the Disney family and enjoy all the characters and architecture that it displays. What’s going to happen with all those investments and attractions. I guess they will find some development ideas maybe they will turn it into a concentration camp and probably start processing our daily lives where as we will be losing our freedom more and more

  162. Katherine Jaramillo

Before they’re locating to Florida there was proposed measures for them to come to the Louisiana but as things didn’t pan out they opened in Florida. The door is always open and welcome to them here in Louisiana if they want to consider a new place to relocate.

  163. Da Truth

The governor is clearly not a very smart person or he would recognize that his actions will certainly be struck down in court as being prejudicial and targeted solely at Disney. When this is all finally wrapped up, DeSantis will have cost the state millions in legal fees and damages.

  164. Governor Desantis is guilty of harassment and abusing executive privilege law Disney needs needs to take it it the Supreme court

  165. Doxiebaby

Disney should cancel passes for all FL residents and then we’d see how much heat DuhSantis can take.

  166. Mark M

DeSatan NEEDS to stop being a Dictator, do his Job, of which he is Not and Keep out of private non state run enterprise’s ! He has dug Florida ito a hole, unless ur donating 10s of thousands to his campaign or Wealthy insurance companies!

  167. Wayne Frazier

If as you say “they could be shut down” it’s because they need repairs. What a garbage article.

  168. CMT

Disney World is not leaving Florida. No other state offers the land, weather, demographics, etc., for Disney to operate, not to mention the cost of the instrustructure Disney has built over the last 50 years. Disney has become a business full of arrogant, obnoxious executives. They do not rule Florida and should have stayed out of Florida politics. There is no reason why Disney should not be subject to the same rules as every other business in Florida. Disney rides and transportation are constantly breaking down. Maybe now they will become more reliable.

  169. Don

    He is a big ASS

  170. MacGyver

So wait. The state hasn’t been inspecting the monorail?!
    What else aren’t they inspecting?!
I’m in support of Disney against DeSantis but I had assumed things like elevators, restaurants, rides, etc were being inspected.

  171. G. LeVeque

I find many of the messages on this site disturbing to say the least. C’mon. Calling Governor Desantis ugly names? Wishing he gets stomach cancer? Seriously? Florida is one of the last places on earth with freedom. I think Disney has gotten too big for its britches over the years. Disney has become way over priced, arrogant, woke, surly, and disgusting. As far as I’m concerned, Disney can pick up and move or better yet, just close up altogether. America does not need Disney.

  172. Paul

Florida needs to start getting smart and vote that moron and his whole agenda OUT. Period.

  173. D

Good riddance!!! Disney is full of pompous perverts these days!!!

  174. Tom

    Hey Ronnie Boy,

    Focus on the Insurance Crisis.

  175. Erik

They should end the discount for Florida residents

  176. Michael

Is riding the monorail magical? Honestly the last few years I am happy if it is semi clean and doesn’t smell .

  177. Leonard J Acca

    I apologize to the Nation.
We, not me, but we elected this clown to run the state.
His report card shows an F.
You failed Ronnie and now you want a shot at the country.
You have got to be kidding me.
On July 1, 2023 any one will be able to walk in to a GUN STORE and buy a gun and walk right out the door. No forms of any kind, no security checks of any kind.
Someone please explain to me how this is good for the State, the Country, the Schools, or our CHILDREN.

    1. Chuck

Yeah, that’s why he won reelection by the biggest margin ever. Keep coping. You’re in the minority.

  178. Steve

DeSantis is not fit to hold office.

  179. M B

We the people are going to have to pay for this lawsuit.
We are all going to be severely impacted by the “DeSantis tantrum”. He has lost my vote. I have no faith in him. He is so out of control, arrogant and full of himself.

  180. Rob

Go Desantis. And you people are Satan

  181. Sam

Disney should just leave Florida elected this bozo go to a state that aligns with your values

  182. Scott Anderson

phrase is “much ado about nothing”, not “mech to do about nothing”.

  183. BeerStop

lol, they wont move out, they need to pay their fair share to the area after destroying it.
i watched for 22 years as Disney brought out pleasure island then opened downtown disney and if that wasnt enough money for them they then opened the all stars resorts and then the campground to finally decide they needed to get into the time share game.
they left Orlando table scraps and Kissimmee broken, of course universal studios opened city walk further pulling more money out of the local economy. and what do they give in return?, minimum wage jobs in an area that rivals the top cities in the country for cost of living.
so yes keep on supporting the mouse.

    1. I agree! Disney needs to be knocked down a peg. We don’t need their woke BS. Good for the governor!!

  184. Just Another Tourist

Anyone with eyes to see, ears to hear and half a brain could have seen this coming. Disney voiced its opinion regarding DeSantis’s “Don’t Say Gay” law. DeSantis, in retaliation, convinced the legislature to nullify and dissolve RCID and replace it with his board of hand-picked puppets. Additionally, this recent bill passed by the legislature regarding transport inspections affects one, and only one transportation system in FL. (Read the Bill). This is only their first harassment of WDW. Surely, they have more to follow. With the legislature and the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District (CFTOD) in his pocket, how much do you think will Disney be able to develop and/or maintain on its property? The word “impossible” comes to mind. They will tie Disney up in so much “red tape” and block almost every project, etc. Everything will be so delayed and cost more resulting in nothing being done. One can only hope that eventually *someone* of group of “someones” will “see the light” and end this silliness.

IMO, one way they could make their point is to do something similar to what the U.S. Navy did way back in the day in a city with a fairly large Navy Base that was harassing the Sailors. One payday – when Sailors got paid in cash – the Navy paid *everyone* in Two-Dollar bills. *A lot* of Two-Dollar Bills quickly went into circulation. The city rapidly saw the error of its ways, realized how much they depended on the Navy and promptly ended the harassment of the Sailors. Perhaps doing all their cash business – company-wide and transactions with the public – would convince CFTOD, DeSantis and the legislature how much they depend on Disney and their business. Imagine if all those tourists took their money and spent it elsewhere.

  185. Miguel A Guantes

All they said was that they didn’t agree with the governor. Desantis is a pity little man and bully.

  186. Good for Ron D. They should follow all state guidelines and not be above the law. When Covid hit and they (Disney) changed on their own, removed the meal package, got rid of the fastpass and added the genie nonsense, they signed their own death certificate. I used to love Disney, but they clearly love money more than us. At the end of the day, he runs Florida, and they need to follow the law.

  187. Cj

Why are Politicians in Disney business? DeSantis has a personal vendetta but that’s not Florida’s problem. Your turning a beautiful state in a world that he wants. Total control of everyone that has a different opinion then his. Disney has power! Power to make people get excited, laugh, bring family. People that want to spend their hard earned money the way they choose. Not the way DeSantis wants. I moved here in 1989 strictly for Disney with no regrets. I’m not alone and everyone needs to voice their own opinions and thoughts out LOUD!

  188. J Strick

Moron Desantis needs to stop and leave Disney alone. He’s only picking on them because they didn’t agree with him. Petty and childish.

  189. Paul

He only wants Genue+ for the Speedway Racers, and unable to get a time!!

  190. Kumbaya

    Ron DeAsswipe!
    ,,!,, ,,!,,

  191. Kathryn

Ron DeSANTIS IS RIGHT ON. I AM SO SICK AND TIRED OF THIS POLITICAL CORRECTNESS AND ROBBING ALL OF THE TOURISTS OF THE “”DISNEY EXPERIENCE.” WE USED TO TAKE OUR CHILDREN AND LOVED IT. NOT ANYMORE. WHOEVER IS MAKING THE CHANGES ARE DESTROYING THE INNOCENCE AND SWEETNESS OF LITTLE CHILDREN. NOT ONLY ARE THE PRICES OUTRAGEOUS , ITS LOST MY TRUST.

  192. Hector

It’s not the same Disney anymore and Walt Disney would not be happy!

  193. Debi

I’ve lived in Florida probably 45 of my 70 years. I loved Disney when I grew up and I was the primary “tour guide” to Disney when my huge, scattered around the country family came … which was constantly. But Disney is NOT the same Disney it once was, and a very dark underbelly has emerged since they’ve gone left …politicizing and sexualizing their messages to our children to push their own agendas. My daughter and son never let my grandchildren watch Disney movies anymore. I say good riddance, although my still-a-kid heart hurts to say goodbye. I do realize that is more about the childish innocence that our world, and particular Disney, fully embodied. An innocence that, like Captain Hook, has now been stolen by Disney. Florida doesn’t need you. Have fun moving all that stuff. We won’t be there to help.

  194. Gordon Reed

I hope Disney pulls out of this Desantis swamp
Take your tourist revenue, tax revenue and jobs elsewhere
Leave these red necks to themselves.
There are plenty of other states with beaches and palm trees that would welcome you

    1. Chuck

Hahahahaha. Yeah, sure just abandon billions of dollars worth of property and infrastructure and build billions of dollars of property and infrastructure somewhere else. Yeah, that’s totally possible. Maybe they should stay out of politics.

  195. Chuck

This was a real FAFO moment for Disney. Hope they learned their lesson. Stick to being a theme park and stop trying to be involved in politics

  196. Maria Rodriguez

My family and I used to be Republicans but no more . This attack on Disney for no reason has got to end . DeSantis is sick . Even wanting to put a jail next to Disney ? Disney is vital to Florida and Floridians love Disney . What happened to free Speech fascist DeSantis ?
Disney has the right to express it views without this horrific , very personal , backlash from DeSantis .
He had better not lose Disney for us here . Families and children love Disney and DeSantis has no right to destroy them for personal ego . You need to get out DeSantis .

  197. Janette Hodara

I don’t believe WDW will have to move away…. De Santis will! We Floridians are very proud of WDW and all the development and international tourism it’s brought to our state for so many years! Nothing will ever change that!

  198. Chuck

Isn’t it funny how left wingers are all against big companies getting tax breaks and special treatment until it’s a republican holding them accountable? Weird, right?

  199. Jane

There has been one story after another detailing how Disney World is falling apart and becoming dangerous. Maybe DeSantis just doesn’t want the liability if people get killed while being transported or on a ride.

  200. Nate

Disney please start scaling back cut jobs and reduce your Florida foot print. Cut off campaign contributions and all other freebies completely.

  201. Robert M

I think Disney should pause all investments in Disney World, downsize to reduce taxable income that goes to the state of Florida, and wait it out until this buffoon is out of office. Don’t leave Florida, but show them who needs whom.

  202. Equality

Does any other Disneyland Park in the world have a Reedy Creek District type setup? If equality is important to the house of the mouse, shouldn’t it set an example to its fellow businesses and play on a level field? If not, let every business have an opportunity to operate their own special district so it it would be fair to everybody.

  203. Dulce Matamoros

    Governor DeSantis,
Please don’t take our Disney World from Florida.
    Not fair!

  204. Dulce Matamoros

    Governor DeSantis,
Please don’t take our Disney World from Florida.
    Not fair!
Please reconsidered we know you are a great man.

  205. Hunter

Have Disney move to Chattanooga Tennessee or even knoxville Tennessee? It’s not too far away from South Pittsburg, TN where I live but it’s better than them being 12 hours away from me currently. Having them move to Atlanta Georgia or Charlotte North Carolina would put me in perfect position for my entire family to finally got to disney and I have never been to disney ever yet.

  206. Matt

Every other public or private transportation in the state of Florida has to undergo the same inspections. So as long as Disney has been diligent with its upkeep and not been putting profits ahead of safety they should gladly welcome an inspection that is third party. That they can show to the paying customers.

  207. NeilB4Zod

Disney should just close the park. They can afford the financial hit. Florida, on the other hand… Probably not. “How?” I hear you ask. Cascading failure, that’s how. Disney closes, so do a vast majority of surrounding businesses. A sudden surge for unemployment. Sudden exodus of people from the area. Billions in taxes gone almost overnight. Dramatic economic shock. Just look at Flint, Mi and that was done over more than a decades long process. Richest city per person to one of the poorest in 20 years. All thanks to GM packing up and leaving over approximately 10-15 yrs. Now, imagine that kind of thing happening, in totality, in less than a week. Boom goes the states budget, economy, and quality of life. But hey, houses might become affordable in Florida again….

  208. Key West

Give Rhonda Sadness a taste of what living without Disney would be like… IMMEDIATELY, by shutting down the parks for the next two months to conduct “safety pre-inspections”.

Lay off all of the park employees and let the state take care of them for the next two months. You know what? Better make it three months. That way, you make sure that you “pre-inspect” all of the attractions.

Oh, and drop the Disney+ streaming services within the state, just like P0®nHub did with Utah.

Oh, and immediately move all content development/filming out of the rancid, seaweed-smelling state.

Something tells me that 80,000 people directly losing their jobs in Ms. Rhonda Sadness’s little Fascistic state, not to mention, the loss of hundreds of thousands of secondary and tertiary jobs would crash her little “empire”.

  209. Pat

Disney needs to back off their work agenda or families will start to boycott them just like BudLight has found out

  210. Krista

    1. The governor acts like he’s ten years old. He and his backwards views are repulsive.
    2. Disney should never have gotten involved politically. I agree with their views, but you exist to help us forget about politics. Stay in your lane.
    3. They’re both super cringe right now.

  211. Key West

Ooh, and just the fact that Disney stops treating for mosquitoes will cause the rest of the state untold millions. I mean, who would want to vacation in a Zika-infested swamp??

  212. Michael

Ron DeathSantis kills everything he gets involved with from the people of Florida during the covid pandemic with bizarre thinking to trying to control Disney World Even our oranges are sour now

  213. Andrea Johnson

So you’d rather wait for a monorail beam to collapse and kill or injure than to upset the mighty Disney company? Disney never did their own inspections. They’ve been lucky nothing happened so far.

    1. Key West

You have absolutely no proof of your allegations… But nice try.

  214. K.D.

Desantis is a bloody villan. Let US kick this devi out of Florida.

  215. K.D.

Desantis is a bloody villain. Let us kick this devil out of Florida. He is the #1 enemy of Florida and he is worse than a traitor. Does he have any brain ?

  216. Ann

Instead of helping Hurricane victims get their Insurance Claims paid -Desantis and the pals he put in place is not only picking a fight with Disney, but galavanting overseas to check on his presidential bid – !

  217. RH

Let’s be honest. The “bubble” has been popped ever since COVID. The employees were head over heels about enforcing outdoor masking above any other experience. Guest service has degraded and the parks are packed beyond comfortability for waiting in any lines or dodging people all day for overpriced food. Everyone I’ve talked to didn’t talk about the magic continuing in the long monorail lines or on the packed ferries after park close. They’ve only talked about how grateful they were that the day was done and they were finally going to maybe get a decent priced snack and to bed.

  218. Rudy Venegas

    First, get rid of DeSantis!
    Second, get rid of DeSantis!
    Third, get rid of DeSantis!

  219. If Disney actually DOES have to eventually relocate, NONE of the states listed in this article would make sense, because they all have major theme parks in them(Texas having two Six Flags parks). Mississippi would be a good choice, because of the year round warm weather, and having Disney there, would boost that state’s economy tremendously.

  220. Rick

I don’t know what all the hub-bub is about anyway. The average person can’t afford Disney! The last time I was at Disney World was 35 years ago! My parents paid for it and I’m pretty sure that my grandparents helped!

  221. James ki

My family and I just visited Disney in January and all my wife and I kept saying was “Disney should be running the country” it’s insanely organized, problems are solved immediately, no one ever tells you “”no” and to feed, entertain, organize logistics, keep order daily for 10’s of thousands of people was impressive. Now government is going to get involved and squabble over a monorail inspection? I would entrust Disney long before government standards these days…Desantis trying to flex his muscle and involve the corrupt hand of the government. This is the last thing Disney needs. Not broken don’t fix it.

  222. Christy

DeSantis picked the fight. He wants to go after their content next, he even said so. If he doesn’t think Disney won’t spend the equivalent of a Marvel movie to make sure he isn’t reelected, he’s a fool.

  223. Christina

Ron DeSantis is cutting off his nose to spite his face….

There are more Disney fans in the State of Florida than there are DeSantis fans…

He will find his welcome worn completely out come voting season.

Because, regardless to the political views of parents with young children, The Mouse will show DeSantis to the door.

So, he can feel his Wheaties now, he will feel the foot of Disney before the fight is over.

  224. Roger

Well I don’t see a problem they do need inspections do they inspect their stuff all the time do they meet a standards we don’t know but it’s a state gets in there and inspect these things then we’ll know that yes it does meet say standards.

  225. Concerned

I am 39, just took my kids for the first time and also mine! As being someone from Mass, being in the construction field and seeing the crumbling infrastructure here. The size of the pillars and spans of the arches on the monorail are concerning for me. Knowing how long they have been there without being replaced I do agree that the state should ONLY inspect that and the Skyliner. Just my opinion as being on the inside of that industry. I like Desantis and agree only on that viewpoint, other than that I loved disney but they need to stay out of politics.

  226. Sandy

DeSantis is the greatest example of a Scrooge. Don’t you have anything better to do than ruin the memories of children. You shouldn’t even be in politics your priorities are not in order.

  227. Donna

If it wasn’t for Disney, the entire state would have nothing to go to. The beaches can only go so far. Can Florida handle the unemployment this would cause, since it is a right to work state and no unions. Also what about the taxes and income that Disnry brings in with conventions and guests from around the world. DeSantis needs to think about Florida and the income, not just his future role in Politics

  228. Robina

Good riddance! One less spot for them to traffic children!

    1. Key West

Another lame conspiracy claim with absolutely no proof. Try again

  229. Don

Disney should abruptly shut down for one month. Everything. It would destroy the Florida economy. Shutting down means flights would be empty, no revenue for any hotels on that area. We moved out of Florida in past due to this awful dictator.

  230. Toni

Disney started this problem. They should of just kept families entertained but no, they went woke, they got political. Frankly they got too big for their britches. I am a Floridian and applaud our Governor for sticking up for parental rights and taking Disney down a peg or 2. Universal and Sea World do not enjoy special privileges. It’s time Disney start paying taxes to the State of Florida.

    1. Key West

Another “Florida Person” who doesn’t know what they’re talking about.

According to the Florida DEO, there are currently 1,844 special districts across the state.

      You lose. Try again

  231. Robert

If Disney move out of Florida it will be a disaster the economy will cromble many many people will end up without withi aout work housing will skii high and the bandalisim will take over that wannabe governor is ruining everything all the land will become housing damaginging the ecosystem he’s only thinking on money not in the future I’ve always said that he wasn’t a good governor an this prove it

  232. Joe cox

Mr. DeSantis is obviously an insidious little man. I, like 000s of others wish Disney could tell him to have the impossible act on himself.

  233. Carolyn

Between being able to walk into a store and just buy a gun and put it in your pocket and go grocery shopping…to the pollution and hurricanes… to the vendetta deSantis has with disney….who wants to be bothered going to Florida. Floridians get ready for income taxes…you haveto pay for services somehow!

  234. Tom

I wish all businesses would stay neutral or completely stay out of politics. It isolates Disney from half or more of the population. The majority of Floridians agree with the governor.

  235. I was planning on a trip next year with family. Now I hear DeSantis wants to close them. This place is historical and a dream for millions . Young and old. who need a once in a lifetime dream get away. WHY? Is there ice in your veins.

  236. Birgitt

Please tell me how he plans on replacing all of the lost jobs for his personal vendetta?!?

  237. Becki

Disney should simply close down and let Gov DeSaster take the blame. All the employees depending on Disney and customers who have vacations ruined will quickly put the heat on the little Ronmouse.

  238. Geo

The state of Florida, has been kissing Disney’s ass for years. Now, Disney is throwing a tantrum, because someone is standing up to them (aww, poor baby). If Disney doesn’t like it, LEAVE, I’m sure Florida can find better use of the land, than Disney Parks!!!

    1. Key West

Wow, you understand that if Disney shuts down Disney World, that doesn’t mean that they wouldn’t STILL own the 27,520 acre property, right?

  239. Chris

People keep writing about the free speech of Disney really do not seem to understand free speech. Liberals and Conservatives love to cry free speech. No one is denying Disney’s right to free speech. No one. However, free speech does not mean freedom of consequences of that speech. Whether you think that consequences are appropriate for that speech you can debate. You cannot however say they were denied their right to free speech.

BYW anyone talking about Disney moving is delusional.

    1. Key West

Yeah, the government doesn’t get to retaliate for Disney’s speech… Which is exactly what Ms. Rhonda Sadness did – and which he is being sued for.

Disney IS going to win that FEDERAL lawsuit and will hang the little fascist using her own words.

Nice try, though. After Citizens United, “Corporations people too”… and Ms. Rhonda Sadness is going to find that out the hard way.

  240. D

So why not get the inspections. What is Disney afraid will be found? What are they hiding and how many people could be in danger on those things?

  241. Tracy

Our state runs on tourism economy. You think times are bad now if we don’t have Disney then we lose 78% of our revenue. Plus this DeSantis is using FL as a stepping stone for more power (white house). How many families will be jobless. Hopefully you can take care of your kids until they’re 50 or you pass. This guy is a power hungry nutjob

  242. Camille DiMasi

Disney has been an advocate of the devil since it opened. I know from personal experience. If they shut it down I will rejoice because I know who and what they really are.

  243. CSligar

Only narcissists long to be the king of a graveyard.

  244. D

You people act like Disney is all there is to Florida. Take a look around people. You might be surprised at what you find.

  245. Maria

Disney board is most certainly looking at options for the future of Disney world. The park is very old and requires tremendous maintenance to keep up a very old infrastructure. In addition, climate change means that it is getting hotter and hotter there in the summer. And there are now a couple of months of over 100 degree weather. This will have an impact over time. So yes it is very likely that they are doing a feasibility study on moving and building a newer park .

  246. Joe

This is what is wrong with this country now. I served in Army and Marines to give everyone rights and now I am sick that I did it. 100% disabled now for my country and this is what I have to be proud of. Other countries are laughing at how weak we are. The only thing that will fix it is WW3 here, China will come! May God have mercy on us!

    1. Roz Lip

      OMG! I agree wholeheartedly.

I hope you do read this. Thank you for your service, and I am sorry for your disability.

I am glad that your intelligence did not suffer.

  247. Teresa

Very sad to see what is goin on here in Florida!! Governor DeSantis wants history rewritten, Disney world 🌍 has to have hands in everything now threatening to put a PRISON next door c’mon now REALLY!! HOW CAN U SLEEP AT NIGHT OKAY I THOUGHT 🤔 ABOUT U CAN CAUSE U R NOT PRESIDENT MATERIAL FOR SURE OR GOVERNOR OF FLORIDA
    THANKS FOR READING

  248. George

Good! Move Disney to Beijing or Moscow. I’m sure they would be much happier there.

  249. TP

Desantis should sit down and shut up!

  250. Bbcw

    F#ck Florida and F#ck DeSantis

  251. Karen Newsome

DeSantos is going too far with his egotistical vendetta. Disney is the largest employer in Florida and the greatest tax revenue in the state. He is trying to make Disney bow to him. DON’T! With new theme ideas, start building in another state. I certainly hope Florida remembers this next time they vote!

  252. Thomas Stuart

If Disney was so upset about State of Florida teaching YOUNG students about “the gay life, etc.” Why don’t they offer such educational opportunities to young kids (including worker’s kids) who come into Disney World for entertainment .. make it FREE for kids & parents to attend/participate in this. That way Disney can EDUCATE kids from ALL OVER THE WORLD.. not just kids in Florida public schools… Disney World is a Magical Place, why not make it even more magical for kids living in the LGBTQ+ lifestyle. Disney.. spend some of your own damn $resources to stand up for these beliefs you hold so dear instead of having demanded Florida to do it. PLUS if you advertise this DISNEY IN-PARK EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITY, surely your laying customer-base will improve significantly!

  253. PL

Burn it all down. Florida, I mean, before the next hurricane. HRH Rhonda Santis, aka “Lady Boots” will be left to rule a kingdom of ashes and mud. Then Florida will return to wildlife, a much better use of the land.

  254. Braless Betty

it’s not hard to know who to root for in the Disney/DeSantis battle.. one is cartoonish, creates drama for the cameras, and deals in fantasy,
    and the other is Disney..

  255. Jay

DeSatan needs to be voted out of office for all the damage he caused to Florida. Not just Disney World but all the books that are banned as well as no concealed weapons permits required to carry a gun, etc, etc. that man is the worst governor I have ever seen. Thank G-d I don’t live in Fl anymore!!

  256. Braless Betty

it’s not hard to know who to root for in the Disney/DeSantis battle.. one is cartoonish, creates drama for the cameras, and deals in fantasy,

    and the other is Disney..

  257. Holly

Disney has invested billions of dollars and 50+ years into it’s Florida resort. Anyone who thinks there is a chance that they are going to take a billions of dollars bath and pull out of the state over a legal hiccup are as crazy as they say Disney is. Will they fight things? Go to court? Involve lawyers for years? Maybe. But leave? It’s not happening.

  258. Jay

I have never responded to one of these, but I am so sick of everything becoming political. Disney? Really? We all have become armchair experts literally about everything when we really have no clue what we are talking about. We are all suckers that have swallowed political party BS that has poured over into everything. They represent their own interests and special interests, and not the average person on the street. Build the Wall around D.C. Or maybe around Disney, Sea World, Day Care Centers, and Schools to keep the politicians out. Try compassion. If any one of you knew someone on this stream had a child heading to Disney as part of a Make-A-Wish trip, would you bash them and the child that is fun and really makes them happy? Probably. If so, you have been body snatched and no longer have a brain of your own. I have said my piece and will not be reading any responses.

  259. R.C

    Go Woke Go Broke!

  260. Shanda

Ron needs to go! Wake up Florida…he’s bad for humans. Bad foe business
    VOTE

  261. Eduardo Mellanino

Good for Disney, they’re not the Disney I grew up with! Where are all the radicals that are against capitalism? They have so many perks, and yet they want to be in politics. Disney should have left the wokeness alone! When Disney sides with the perversion and indoctrination of children they crossed the line. Almost 100 percent of people who come there have children and Disney thinks that the 1 or 2 percent that’s for that program is more important than the parents they are mistaken! For those who think DeSantis is wrong for sticking up for parents and children, if Disney leaves feel free to go with Disney too!

  262. Maureen mcgarry

The Disney I knew as a kid, is already gone. I hope that some positive changes can happen.
    Stop being political Disney.

  263. Tim

Who cares! Rip off World! Close them all!!

  264. Brian

DeSantis is a self-centered, egotistical moron.

    1. Jlp

You said it man🖐 “high five” brother

  265. Jlp

    Who cares, Disneyland sucks!

    1. HK

You’re welcome to your opinion, but it’s apparently not from an actual visiting experience, as Florida is not home to ‘Disneyland’.

  266. Manuel Fuentes

That’s what you get whenever you vote republican.
I hope the vote him and the rest of his gang out of office. Disney should move to Texas the hell with Florida

  267. Fred Lund

DeSantis is a small man with a big ego! He is not fit to be US President.

    1. ALI

I agree. Maybe he was bullied by a gay person when he was younger. Something is haunting him that he is looking for revenge.

  268. Terrance Smith

    Fuk Disneyworld!

  269. PS Atkinson

DeSantis may not be as deranged as Trump, but he does have “dictator” tendencies. I imagine that the lawsuits will go No where, which is sad. I would like to see Disney close for the season and show how the loss of tourist would be a loss and negative financial impact to the area. Sure that won’t happen, but Floridians need to step up and let DeSantis know how they feel.
God help us if he becomes President.

  270. Ken

What happened to so called Republicans who say they want to get government out of restrictions to private businesses. There is evidently no good so called Republicans left.

  271. ALI

LET’S BAN DESANTIS AND HIS ENTIRE FAMILY FROM VISITING DISNEY OR ANY OF ITS PARKS, HOTELS, OR STORES.

  272. ALI

I think it is really ridiculous what he is doing. He is not hurting the adults. He is robbing the kids. He is taking away that magic that kids enjoy. The innocence is being stolen.

  273. Carol

I hope Disney World finds a new State to move to. Let’s see how much the residents of Florida who work for Disney want this jerk as governor after they lose their jobs and income for the state. It’s time for DeSantis to go

  274. Rolf Neuschaefer

Disney put Orlando on the map and has been a boon to tourism in Florida. Governor DeSantis fight with Disney is all political theater. Disney has been the ‘Golden Goose’ for Florida and DeSantis is endangering it. Disney no doubt will put on hold any plans for expansion of their facilities. If Disney is forced to pay more taxes, they will simply raise their prices. DeSantis may win the battle but he’ll lose the war.

    1. Amie

But he is so determined to look “strong” and “tough,” that he will bankrupt this state rather than lose. This is how the extreme right destroys America.

      1. Karl

Got news for you. That’s been done by the left for the last several years. They hate America and anything that is a symbol of America. If you can’t see that you need to open your eyes…

  275. Daniel

Begin a transition, a piece at a time.
DeSantis (MiniTrump) just.like a spoil brat gets even when he doesn’t get HIS way, it’s not for Florida it’s for his ego.

Texas would be your best bet w year round good weather no State Taxes.

  276. DS

The Magic Kingdom is a woke mess. I hope they shut down and that a decent company buys the rights to all their vintage movies as well as any questionable newer films…and makes the later simply disappear.

    1. Amie

Define “woke.” Bet you don’t know how it started or what it means.

  277. Julie Gonzalez

DeSantis might as well shut down the entire state of Florida if Disney moved out!!! Florida IS Disney World!!! Mr Governor and the rest of the state would be out of a job.

  278. Dan

Gov DeSatan is an entitled self serving bully. Any normal can see this for what it is, retribution for daring to have an alternative opinion. It definitely is a miss use of power, however all the MAGAt’s voters that he is courting love this crap. I believe that justice will prevail, and Ronnie will only be a footnote in history!

  279. Joker

Disney will be in Florida long after Ron us long and gone

  280. Tom H

Thanks to their Governor, Florida has become the Anti-Business State. Instead of focusing on State Needs, he has allowed his ego to run his mouth wide open and nothing to show for it. Floridians should do a recall before they loose their biggest Tax cash cow.

  281. Ramsey

Ignorant. Republicans should stand for independence, freedom, less government not more.

  282. Renee

    Dump DeSantis- big time jerk!!!!!!

  283. Michael

What we are also seeing is the end of Ron De “meatball” Santis’s political career. (Where goes the mouse so goes the governor). Personally, I have already decided to never vacation or retire in the backward -burg of Florida. I see no chance of it’s recovering from the current wave of Maga extremism and histrionic BS. Losing Disney’s autonomy will be the last straw.

  284. Chris

    Disney= Fourth Reich

  285. Russ Shackleford

    Good riddance.

  286. Jason

I hope to see Disney World shut down permanently. Instead of Magical Kingdom it should be called Corruption Kingdom or The Devil’s Kingdom.

  287. Dee

Why is Disney scared to have their transportation inspected? Are they hiding something from the public. You’d think that people wouldn’t mind, especially if it means keeping people safe when riding those things. Makes me wonder why their so concerned about getting inspected 🧐

    1. Amie

What are you talking about? They have hundreds of licensed inspectors on their payroll that inspect everything on a daily basis before they let one person get on it, eat it, or drink it. Are you really that uninformed?

  288. Amie

I guess all of you preaching against Disney aren’t bright enough to realize that Disney and all its associated businesses (hotels, motels, food services, many, many more, not to mention the 70,000 jobs Disney supports) pay about 1/3 of all the taxes collected in FL. That’s billions of dollars that will come out of our coffers if they are shut down, millions if they are even shut down for a week during season. I guess you all don’t mind paying all those taxes, right? Because you will. Every tax and fee in this state will increase so the state won’t lose money.
If you know anything about psychology, you’d realize that DeSatanist is mentally ill. He has all the signs of Malignant Narcissistic Personality Disorder. Plus he may sound smart, but he’s stupid. Stupid people will go out of their way to hurt somebody or something even though there is no benefit for them, or they are actually hurting themselves and a lot of other people. That is exactly why stupid people are dangerous.
I thought the right wing was against higher taxes, but they seem to want to pay them by wanting to close Disney down.
Ask yourself, what would Jesus do if confronted with thousands losing their jobs and millions of us having to pay higher taxes (which also means, not as much to tithe, right?). I doubt he would want to hurt that many people. The problem is, you are all so brainwashed by Faux News and right-wing social media that you don’t think about the consequences of your words and actions.
BTW, can any of you on the right define “woke?” I doubt it.
    Stupid, STUPID people!

  289. Vicky

Personally, I would be soo thankful if ALL Disney Corporations close down, as they have been involved in Sex Trafficking children as well as Adults. You ALL will see shortly WHAT they have been doing! It’s coming!

    1. Key West

BWAHAHAHA!! Another “Q” moron speaks! “It’s coming”?

What’s coming? Are they going to find a sex dungeon underneath Cinderella’s Castle??

You are either delusional or a bot.

  290. Diane Chastain

Just move Disney! Ppl will come to wherever you are! Other states will give you incentives!

  291. Russ

I thought it was illegal to write a law targeting a specific entity, a business or person. This is exactly DeSantis and his Republi-cant buddies have done.

  292. Jorge Bouza

Let Mo Ron keep digging his political grave, it keeps getting deeper and deeper. Goofy will win in the end 😊

  293. Carlos Rivera

I think Governor DeSantis he’s on his own damn business. Disney world was there way before he was even born he’s one of those millennials I think she knows everything.
He doesn’t have anything better to do than to mess with Disney world really.

  294. Karl

DeSantis…. Don’t budge. You and the state of Florida are one of our few hopes left in the US for people that are not completely insane.

  295. Jason

Fully support Desantis on this matter, stick it to them and hard.

  296. Craig

I wish I knew the reason why Mr. Death sentence(aka the fleabag governor of Florida) has against Disney. Maybe they didn’t have his stupid kids names on Mickey Mouse ears or something. I want Disney to pack up shop call his bluff and never to return to Florida as long as the Republicans run that state. The Republicans have a long history of ruining America dating back to Nixon.

  297. Wawa

Trying to figure out why he’s still in office. Disney is Florida. All these years, Disney has taken care of its issues. Leave well enough alone DeSantis. Find something else to eff up.

  298. Linda

A few years ago I would have been upset about this, but now I think Disney is getting too big for its britches. Þhe cost of everything at Disney is ridiculous. I used to come from NY 3 times a year, they’re is no way I could afford that anymore.

  299. Terry

Wonder if this clown realizes all the jobs and money to his state will vanish…total incompetence

  300. Barry Howard

Don’t worry they will not shoot their cash cow.

  301. David

This is what Florida voted for. Disney can easily do what Tesla does, let states that want the largest employer, with the largest financial influx, in their state bid on what they will offer Disney to move. Pure Capitalism at work, without government attacking their largest employer. Why stay in a bad relationship whenbyou can move on to much more welcoming, greener, nicer, pastrues.

  302. Roz Lip

After reading dozens of the comments on this Florida/Disney/DeSantis subject, it strengthens my opinion that there is visceral hatred running amok in this country.

Gone are the days when an opposing view could be considered, by having a calm, (and sometimes spirited) discussion, to solve a problem.

Unfortunately, many political or community leaders do not present good examples for young people.

Our Country is facing very serious problems that you people should be worrying more about.

  303. Pete Straw

DeSantis should just leave Florida and let Disney run their business with out political horseshit.

  304. Kim W

I’ve wanted to move my family and myself to FL for a while now and tbh it was mainly to be closer to Disney World because we love it that much. It has been an ongoing effort for 2 years now to get us there and to be frank I kind of am nervous about moving now as a lot of people are. I don’t think I would be moving to FL if Disney leave we will just follow Disney. I will always support Disney and there are others out there like me hopefully it will scare the hell out of this guy to get him to stop doing these petty lawsuits

  305. Jon

While i agree in principle of the education law, thiscis an extreme, vendictive abuse of power. Left the Republican Party because of Trump. Now Desantis?

  306. Connie Carroll

I hope Disney wins their lawsuit. Governor DeSantis needs to be pulled down off his pedestal. He has been running Florida as if he’s Emperor for far too long, plus everyone knows he plans on running for president. You can’t be in both offices at the same time, but the last place I want to see him in is the White House. He doesn’t care about peoples rights as he’s proven with Disney. They said, ‘ You are wrong’ and he went after them! So, no one can tell this man that he is wrong?

  307. Youvebeenduped

Between Disney World and DeSantis I think DeSantis is the one that should go.

  308. Randy

The fact that he is running for president scares me. Because he is using his political power and his clout to go after Disney because he got his feelings hurt and if he can do that to Disney in the state of Florida imagine what he would like to do or want to do or tried to do when he’s president. Just another example of a politician abusing his power.

  309. Susan Bakke

    Exactly Herman!

  310. Gary

I think Disney should take its resort and go. Screw FL and the residents that voted DeSantis in and has kept him there. Karma for them and their decisions

  311. I’m sure most Floridians would love to see all you bleeding heart libs go with them if they leave.

  312. Bonnie

DeSantis is a spoiled, vindictive brat and needs to go terrorize some other state. Leave Disney alone. They put FL on the map. This place was a blink of the eye before they came.

  313. GPrice

So many uninformed people with such strong opinions. Fact is, Disney shot at their Goose that laid their golden egg and missed.

  314. Barb

Desantis’s five year old antics over control of Disney, schoolbooks, LGBTQ…instead of REAL issues in Fl., prove how bad a President he would be!

  315. Cal christian

Why shouldn’t Disney and other big companies pay taxes like the small business. Inspections should be mandatory at some point otherwise you get another “sunny isles “ collapse.

  316. Vickie

I’m reading comments asking why disney just keep their shut and just be disney. So this means everyone Corporation or human just keep their month shut? So this is Disney’s fault desantis is going after them? Aren’t there more dire issues the governor should be addressing in his state vs a mouse?

  317. Cindy

I think it is much to do about nothing..So what if the state inspects the structures for any form of malfunction or safety issues. And no, if the arrangements are done when the park is closed or early morning hours, I think no one will feel less. I lived out by Disneyland in California, many years ago, and you would see food vendors and other service group scrambling about. It didn’t distract from the experience.
But on the other hand, I feel businesses should stay out of politics. Then I am certain that politics would stay a little more out of businesses. When a business pushes an agenda that goes against the norms of society, especially the norms of society that effect and to degrees infect the young hearts and minds of innocent children, then yes, the pushback is going to happen. Many parents are concerned how our children are being fed various agendas that go against what we want them to experience in their formative years. So Disney needs to respect that. Some conversations are not for children. It is quite that simple.

  318. Michelle

It’s soooooo sad that this so called Governor would fight the most magical place on earth. It’s discusses me. Disney should move to a place they are appreciated. This will definitely hurt the state but the idiot doesn’t see it. So go where appreciated.

  319. Me

Simple lesson for all major corporations. Stay out of politics, religion, and culture war hot button issues. Just provide a good product at a good price. Why alienate half your customer base? Makes no sense.

    1. Bill A

      Couldn’t agree more.

  320. The governor doesn’t care who he sues it doesn’t come out of his pocket. It comes out of the texperience he’s crazy

  321. Janet

Desatan got involved with Disney he should have stayed out of it. If any changes come we can thank him. He is totally destroying Florida.

  322. Andrea

DeSantis is an idiot!!! Why would Disney bow down to something as idiotic as the “do say gay bill”? I mean they would not only ostracize their guests, their cast members.

  323. John

Doesn’t this idiot governor have better things to do than fight with Disney??? He should go on a ride or two and just chill out. What a tool this guy is.

  324. Chuck

DeSantis is the biggest idiot in this Trump era ludicrousness. Don’t like it DeSantis happy to give you my address you ass wipe and explain it!

  325. Mark

The magic at Disney was gone long ago. We visited last year and it was a horrible experience for the whole family. We’ve moved on and realize WDW isn’t what it used to be. Speaking with FL residents and Disney employees…. there’s no love for Disney management. They pretty much feel as if most management screwed them and the guests. Just talk to some of the locals and you’ll get the real vibe.

  326. Rpryor

I wish Disney could afford to just shut down and start over in another state. Desantis is way too full of himself and has gone so far extreme to the right that he doesn’t even sound human anymore. Disney shouldn’t have to suffer because they choose to exercise their humanity.

  327. Did he have a bad experience as a child at Disney World. He needs to put all that energy into the people of Florida nasty bastard

  328. Jason

This governor is the closest thing to a communist you can get! Taking our tax dollars and his bias against the company and making them suffer the rath of governmental inspections etc.! What’s next if he becomes president!? Barcodes on our necks!?

    1. Jason

By the way De Santis , while your at it why don’t you enact a new law and send Disney to China while your at it you Communist!

  329. Betty

Well as many call him BABY TRUMP.
Is having a tantrum and wants the Floridaians to give into his attention seeking.
If we would just make sure not to vote for him on 2024…showing him that this country needs to be directed by an adult not a spoiled child. We would show our youth we don’t stand to nonsense.
He wants to band books, art…etc. (so we have illiterate & uncultured people in our country). Soon he will tell you which religion, food & products you need according to him including Freedom of Speech. (Will not be surprised).
    So
    “Don’t Say DeSantis ”

“Let our country be free from DeSantis!”

  330. I believe all this us BS a ploy from radical corrupt Dems to discedit Gov Deasantis with fabricated lies as they did with Pres Trump they are so afraid of the Gov. Everyone loves Disney. So use Disney to create hate for a good man. They did it before.

    1. Key West

You haven’t been paying attention, have you?

Nice try with the buzz words though.

      “Radical corrupt Dems”??

Please. You are either brainwashed or a bot.

  331. Carol

DumbSantis is trying to ruin the biggest economy maker in Florida just because of gay people. I’ve never heard of anything so ridiculous in my life.
Everything I’ve read says he’s not going to win the nomination for president because he’s a total loser.

  332. Doug

Florida has a choice: consenting to rule by xenophobia, or understanding the value and necessity of embracing diversity in today’s world.

  333. Chuck

Governor is just plain stupid and egotistical. Sad an elected official acts this way.

  334. Mc

How about this… Disney stays… DeSatin goes! He should move to Georgia or Colorado or anywhere that’s not in Florida and we will keep Mickey and the gang and the millions of people that are employed because of the tourism that the Magic Kingdom attracts.

  335. GottaFly

I hope and Pray Disney Moves completely OUT of the State of Florida! California is much more welcoming! The worthless governor of FL should keep us fricken NOSE OUT of personal lives of the people! PERIOD!

  336. Kimberley

Get in the boat and row Disney, transportion requires routine maintenance and safety be priority. FDA oversees the safety of consumables, FDOT should inspect transportation. So, the nesayers, risk your families safety and remember your post as you plan funerals and complain to the Govenor to do something in the aftermath of a catastrophic failure.

  337. Ron DeSantis you’re making a very bad move if Disney leaves I’m gonna tell you this there is not gonna be much tourism people can fish and go to beaches anywhere Disney world draws children and families You went with your family in 2020 I believe Kind of ironix well if a sudden now you want to cripple a company That employs in Florida a 150000 people. Disgusting terrible

  338. Earl B. Curtis

I agree with the will of the voters expressed in democratically elected officials including the state legislators and Governor. Disney overreached by threatening to fight with DeSantis refusing to acknowledge Parental Rights Law as passed by the state legislators and signed by the Governor. It’s past time to cease playing dirty tricks and negotiate in good faith from where Disney finds itself now.

  339. Kimmi

I’m a Disney adult and love going where I can just relax and have fun! From the moment you see the Mickey ears on your way into the park off I-4. Been going since WDW opened basically. This whole DeSantis persona is politically driven. I chose not to relocate to FL due to him/his choices. If you speak with some of the FL born residents they would prefer he did not run again. Of course, others may say differently. If I were Disney, I’d relocate the whole park with the help of the state who offers them a location. It’d be very sad to see and Mickey would cry for sure! Prayers for a reasonable solution.

  340. Martin

Descant is need to get out the state of Florida!

  341. Es

DeSantis must go! Make Florida great again.

  342. Mark Ricker

Governor DeSantis has no right to be involved like this with Disney World. I only hope that he gets a taste of his own medicine and that Disney will leave the state.

  343. Giuseppe

Similar to Democrats Vendetta against Trump; Desantis has his against Disney.
Both JackAsses need to get off their high horse and think about all the time and money being wasted at Taxpayers expense

  344. A

The Magic of Disney has blinded us all for generations. Walt Disney was involved in the ritual satanic mind control of our youth. This is why so many of these young adults have gender issues. Because they’ve been molested, abused, tortured into doing drugs in order to be able to deal with the pain. Look into this more, especially with the transporting of children to Jeffrey Epsteins island for entertainment purposes of his “guests”.

  345. Gail

The ogre who wants to kill Mickey Mouse!

  346. Arthur

This is an obvious Restraint of Trade incursion into Disney’s lawful operations. Operations that have been only recently challenged because of POLITICALLY hurt feelings and embarrassment suffered by the current Florida “governor”😡. Disney should appeal IMMEDIATELY.

  347. Al Jones

Ron needs to keep his hands off of Disney. He is a dictator. Can’t stand that man. Fascist

  348. Terry M

Walt Disney’s dream to have this magical attraction for children and the young at heart to enjoy, will be closed due to the antics of politics of DeSantes to show his bullying might, to get in the WH. This magical dream will be gone.

  349. Rachel

Ron needs to go. He’s destroying Florida and he thinks he’s a god who can do whatever he wants. He doesn’t deserve to be able to make the bad decisions and needs to be gone out of office. I didn’t vote for him cause I always thought he made bad decisions. Now he wants to run the
country. Anyone who votes for him is an idiot.

  350. JR

Descant is extremely childish and should be removed from office because he’s a complete idiot!!Only an idiot would pick on Disney the largest employer in the state of Florida! Disney should seriously consider shutting down for a year and look elsewhere. They definitely have the resources to do so! You don’t want Desantis as President…

  351. Eve

Leave Disney world alone kids love it why you trying to ruin it

  352. Bruce

Desantis and the policy makers who support him are working to kill the goose that lays the golden eggs. Desantis is nothing but a tyrant who is working to control Disney and those who disagree with him. He is undemocratic and unamerican.

  353. Gary

I agree with the State of Florida that any corporation that takes a political position and action against the state does not get privileges from that state. Major corporations aligned with a single political party is the death of democracy. Just look at corporate media.

  354. Lonewolf

I could care less about Disney. They are way too expensive for a normal family to attend. I hope like hell they fold under from this.

  355. Tom

I think major corporations should not stick their heads up their ass and ignore politics or social issues. It is the responsibility of all citizens to be inclusive and stand up for values and principles. Even if their stand is contrary to my beliefs it can open up discussions that at least is a start for airing ideas and positive change. Most people are not extremists although our political parties would prefer we were and help to create that conflict

  356. Fred

Èxactly! Disney himself was a pedophile!

  357. BubbasMom

I probably wouldn’t have voted for DeSantis is he runs in the republican primary but NOW I definitely will vote against him. He’s a dictator.

  358. Rob

What kind of moron politician harassed the biggest employer and the no1 tourists attraction. These people are THE main reason Florida has such smooth roads. Not because some third rate politician.

  359. Disney is such a large part of the Florida economy. This affects the lives of so many. The arrogance of one man who is willing to sacrifice a states economy is insane. Walt Disney World has done so much in its 50 plus years. They have grown in so many ways and that includes their contribution to the stats economic well being and well being of surrounding areas. How many would loose jobs if they shut down. Disney teaches everyone that through imagination and innovation there are no limits.

  360. Bill

Corporations should never, never, never get involved in political issues, taking sides one way or another. They are responsible for giving their shareholders a good return on their investments, for treating their employees fairly, and for providing the best possible quality for the goods and services they sell to their customers. That’s it. Political activism doesn’t fit in. It is a disservice to all of these groups, but particularly shareholders, for them to violate this basic principle.

    1. Key West

You really need to keep up, honey. Try googling, “Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission”.

Republicans had no problem with corporations speaking up when the speech benefitted them… but criticize them for their Fascistic actions? WE CAN’T HAVE THAT!!

No, honey, corporations are people too… and Ms. Rhonda Sadness is going to find that out when she loses in court.

Disney is going to walk away with billions in damages and Rhonda is going back to the trailer park in her white boots.

  361. Paul

As usual the asinine Gov of Florida is stroking himself it’s sad that the far right Gov is attacking a business for not siding and believing what he does get him out of office Floridians before he annihilates the state

  362. Tiana

They should find another place to go. It may be costly for the but in the end it will be worse for the State of Florida. Maybe when he stops getting all the revenue Disney brings in the residents of Florida will see how ridiculous their governor is and maybe start waking up to his dictatorial ways

  363. D Thompson

Disney has got too full of themselves – and are the epitome of greed, if you’ve visited their theme parks lately. They are an entertainment company and should keep their political beliefs to themselves. That said, grown ups should be able to work out their differences in an adult way.

  364. sfcpres

If you recall all of this started when Chapek was besieged by his employees to make a statement about the law. Up to then Disney was staying out of it. The fact they came out against a law that a majority of Florida parents agreed was ill advised when families make up such a large part of their market. The employees were free to speak up, but companies must ride a fence not to alienate their customers either way. Just ask Anheuser Busch how that is shaking out. Most people are fed up with the political rhetoric they face each day. They don’t want it forced upon them by companies they support.

  365. Stacey Pharo

If I’m going to ride on a monorail I’d hope it would have been inspected. This article makes it sound like this transportation isn’t safe to pass the inspection!

  366. Brie

Gov DeSantis is power hungry and needs to be taken down. He doesn’t have the good or the will of the people in mind.
Disney is a marvel that should be duplicated, not be torn apart.

  367. Greg Harris

Maybe Disney should do like the rest of us and learn you can’t fight city hall! Even if you win you loose politics only helps politicians and rich people.

  368. Lillian

Huge loss for Florida if Disney leaves. Disney is not replaceable.

  369. Nicholas

This thread is funny. The dems (lots on here) want government oversight on everything…expect when it affects them.

Should Disney be running its own government? What about taxes that other business pay?

I’ve been to Disney 3 times. The difference between Disney and Vegas is that Vegas you might come home with some money.

I understand that some people’s lives are Disney. That just sad

  370. Mike Tarbert

The Insurance Companies take care of Inspecting

  371. I’ve only this to say.
Please don’t turn a blind eye to the fact that these taxes have been in place way before since this government has been in office and they have been more than aware of them for a long long time. This is a political move to the White House.

  372. Linda

If you want to know why Disney is corrupt you must be living under a rock have Americans got so dumb as to fund their own destruction woke liberal companies hate you and only wants your money to fund your downfall if Disney care about you a hotel room wouldn’t be 400 or a burger 20 wakeup America

  373. Pat

Close Disneyland!! Way to expensive. To long of lines. Very rude employees. Not worth money or time.

  374. Joy

All DeSantis had to do is not have his little temper tantrum, this is a free country & people & companies can speak up for what they believe in. De Santis obviously has nothing better to do than waste time & money going after one of the biggest draws Florida has! pretty stupid on his part. The only reason my family & I even visit Florida is for Disney World & Cape Canaveral. We can go to other places in the USA forwarm weather & beaches.

  375. Chloe

Disney needs to stay and Desantis needs to leave!

  376. Ha

“The phrase: It’s just not tangible” makes no sense. “tangible” means something that can be touched. The opposite being intangible.

  377. Sheryl

Disney World has been a good corporate citizen for years. There is no way they would risk their reputation and safety of tourists on not having safe equipment. This attraction has brought billions of dollars to Florida and hired locally keeping local tax coffers full with sales tax. The businesses outside the park would suffer as well. De Santes needs to make his mark in making the world a better place like homeless in his state and let the world keep the magic. There is damn little of it left.

  378. Aardvark Hackleworth

Ron De Santos just doesn’t know when to quit. I also think the legislature in Fl is embarrassing. They just pass whatever bill DeSantos wants word for word. The only part of this mess that makes me happy is that the Governor who kicks Disney out of Florida, largest single employer, largest tax payer, Largest tourist draw, etc is over politically. I won’t ever have to listen to a debate between the 2 most unqualified, vane, hateful, and hapless DeSantis and Trump

  379. Mel

Disney, please move! I’ve been an avid Disney World visitor since 1977. People pay for the experience and politics have no place there, especially this man’s political agenda.
There’s tons of other places that would love to have you where you would thrive. Yes, it will take time and money, but it will be so worth it.
Once you leave, I’d live to see how tourism money also will leave the area.
We support Disney and want to continue to see you thrive. We also want Disney to pay a living wage to its workers and continue be responsible allies of the LGBTQ+ community and a leader in other aspects of society that only Disney can.
In the meantime, I look forward to the magic only Disney can offer.

  380. Laura

You deserve to be shutdown!! The sick stuff you promote now. I was a Disney kid, my kids were Disney kids. We visited every year for 10 days that was our tradition and wanted to carry it on for Grandbabies but that will never happen now. I hope you go broke!!

  381. Anne

Disney has been here much longer than Desantis; last one in first one out!

  382. Davi

From the begining walt Disney did what ever he wanted in his kingdoms in orlando florida.no questions asked. he took up a lot of waterways and thoudands of acres of land in putting in his theme parks he had his own little cities set up with no local, or state interference of any kind . Now the governor of florida wants to inspect the tramway monorail and could inspect the railway train at magic kingdom for sfety reasons for the public safety. disney worlds officials are upset you have to be joking me.they have had 50 some years of no one doing any thing well thats to long.some one needs to look what are they hiding at disney makes you really wonder.

  383. Luconda

DeSantis has not only ruined Walt Disney world but the entire state of FLorida. Unfortunately many Floridians have supported him. It used to be I would never move to FLorida because of Alligators and snakes but now it is the Governor and his politics

  384. Jeff

When did Disney become the fourth branch of our government? Win a political party election? Oh wait it takes one living breathing human being, not a Company. So but out all at the top; and do what you do best fantasy amusement parks.

  385. Scott

Governers come and go. DISNEY IS LAWERED UP. AS FAR AS THE MONORAIL. WELL DISNEY KNOWS ITS TIME TO UPGRADE THE MONORAIL. TIME TO FINANCE IT AND BRING IT INTO THE 2020’S I WOULD DO THAT AND CONNECT ANIMAL KINGDOM AND STUIDIOS. ITS TIME MR.IGOR. AS FOR THE FL. GOV. MAKE PEACE. STAY OUT OF POLITICS, PERGE WOKNESS. REMEMBER WALTS DREAM WAS TO CREATE A PLACE FOR FAMILIES NOT LIBARATE THE GAY COMMUNITY, OR DESTORY THE FAMILY BY INDOCRANATE THE CHILDREN WITH WOKEISM. NOT WALTS VISION. IT MUST STOP. IF NOT IT WILL BE THE DEATH IF DISNEY WORLD.

  387. Flavius

Draconian DeSantis is turning Florida into a totalitarian state under his thumb! State control of a company is communism! Why should any company want to invest in Florida when the state can try to control it?

DeSantis is dangerous and is unfit for the Oval Office! Disney should fight him all the way!

    1. Cheryl

That’s funny everybody in Florida loves him even the Democrats so you are 100% wrong there!!! The red wave has spoken!!!!

  388. Carol Finke

As someone whose family had annual passes for the 18 years we lived in South Florida and has visited regularly since moving to Maryland, I can honestly say I am greatly relieved Gov DeSantis is taking seriously Florida’s oversight responsibility!

  389. Amy Kendall

Many people already knew that DeSantis was a jerk. Now, those who didn’t do. Doesn’t he have more important things to do than interfere with Disney? I know….it’s all about $$$.

  390. LMC

Considering how many jobs Disney provides, tax revenue paid to the state? All the infrastructure they took care of? There seems to be an immature fool in Florida and the initials are RD. His narcissism, juvenile behavior? Is going to hurt the residents of Florida in the end. Sad

  391. Jim

I just have 1 question, what the hell is wrong with DeSantis

  392. Jim

The US Supreme Court rules that corporations have the same free speech rights as citizens.

Why shouldn’t Disney express an opinion concerning a stupid law.
Personally I hope they build a park in the middle of the US.
And eventually pull out of FL.
The people of that state don’t deserve their business.

  393. Cheryl

Stick to your guns DeSantis don’t let them win!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!👍👍👍

  394. Tee Sonethongkham

This is a battle of Inclusion Vs Exclusion. Walt Disney has built an Economic Empire for reaching out and including and loving everyone equally for almost a 100 years. This is their brand. Meanwhile, Desantis is Anti-Black, Anti-Gay, and now Anti-Woman. This is not a winning formula. Anti-Black in prohibiting black history in public schools and colleges. Anti-Gay in prohibiting teaching about Gays and Lesbians Anti-Woman, in the strictest abortion policy, 6 weeks allowed to get an abortion. Most woman don’t even know they ar pregnant in 6 weeks. I hope Disney waits him out, hopefully they can recover from the damages Desantis done to them. Moving to Georgia, NC, Texas, and SC is not the answer. They are conservative red states also.

  395. Mar p

All a preview of what will happen if elected president. Try to be intelligent when you vote or the country will be the next Disney.

  396. Patrick

I think the inspection is just another way to make money. I have been to Disney twice in my life. Once I was 3 years old 1979. And again in 1998. I am sure Disney has there own people that maintain and inspect the skyline and monorail. I have been on the monorail that comes through one of the hotels. We never had a issue. I think the governor is just looking for other ways to make money. Why just pick on Disney.

  397. Michael

Ditch Florida. Buy an island (possibly Bermuda). Build DisneyUniverse. Use your cruise ships to ferry customers back and forth while providing them and extended fantasy experience.

  398. N. L.

If they keep the equipment running well they will pass any inspection…so no worries.

  399. Andrew Ramish

Governor is pushing out the perverts so what!

  400. Chris Cole

Disney deserves better! They should relocate to a different state entirely. Show the evil that is Ron DeSantis that we don’t need him.

  401. Charlu

DeSantis could care less about Florida it’s children, seniors, etc. obviously otherwise he would be more worried about us being the THIRD largest human and sex trafficking state, seniors and vets families not able to afford housing or food, instead of spending hundreds of millions on his legal fees of our tax dollars to fight his legal battles while raising raising presidential campaign funds so he can leave the mess he’s making here to someone else and be a ruler of a country like Putin taking away land and businesses when people don’t agree or do as they’re told. He is all about $ just like the mask viasco, Monoclonal Tx, Ĝriffin 40 mill campaign donations etc

  402. Rhonda

After Disney decided to offer free castration to employees AND THEIR CHILDREN I care less how destroyed they get. Used to be my favorite place to go. Now that they want to not only allow child mutilation but pay for it. I’m out! And care less what happens. Get em DeSantis!

    1. You’re ridiculous and a typical mark

  403. Lorrie

Hope it does close down! Alot less people coming here to live hopefully. Plus it is so ridiculously priced, for a family with 4 kids and 2 adults 2000$!!! Florida doesn’t even pay the people living here a livable wage. Oh don’t forget they made almost every road a toll road going to orlando.

  404. Gregg

If Disney will be done this idiot better run because Orlando will turn into Detroit of the sound and all the unpleasant stench of unemployment will end him quickly! Sometimes Harvard does not makes you smart enough when mommy and daddy pays for education!

  405. Warwick Knox

Considering the fact that Florida will probably be devastated by climate change in the not so distant future, it would be wise if they begin their move slowly but surely to a state that is less likely to wind up submerged in water. In that case you could consider the fact that Ron DeSantis is an ego maniac to be a blessing.

  406. DeSantis is another person that doesn’t listen to his people. It’s another stamens that government has lost touch of we the people 😒

  407. K

I’ve never been a big Disney fan since the day they built it, but what our governor’s doing is ridiculous . He makes it feel like we live in a communist state He needs to leave Disney the hell alone and take care of the people who elected him to run this state. Not tell What we can say, read or do What happened to Land of the free?

  408. I hope Disney does leave Florida and doesn’t bother with another red state. The idea that they can’t do it is a lie. They can leave and most likely will.

  409. Phil

Disney should immediately end discounts for Florida Residents and make it clear that it is to make up for any increased costs incurred by DeSantis’ vendetta.

That should go over well with Florida Voters.

  410. Milly

DiSantis needs to stop! He used to be a good guy. Now tends to be a dictator. Would never vote for him again for anything. He has forgotten to take care of Florida. He’s more interested in out of state and planning to run for president. Time to stop him!

  411. John Beale

Disney started this by becoming political. I’m sure this can be resolved. Big business needs to stay out of getting press for political reasons. You already have lobbyist to spend money on with politicians.

  412. Susan Burkhart

Desantis is an ego maniac who can’t stand any criticism. I worked for Disney World years ago and have only the greatest respect for them. I hope Disney lawyers bury Desantis.

  413. Prawlinhs

Going “woke” is bad for business. Disney and all other businesses should avoid politics.

    1. Politics should stay out of Disney’s backyard as a private enterprise, and one of the largest givers to the republican party, how ironic.

  414. Terrance

Finally, someone is standing up to Disney! They been screwing Florida for decades.
Let them move to a Dem state and deal with the crime & rampant drugs in NY, CA and see who gets mugged & their lives threatened. It will serve them right

  415. I am so tired of hearing about De santes ( sorry for his misspelled name) always in the news with him always trying to have controle issues on everything!!! I’m mean really you have to mess with the iconic Disney world!! Come on when are people gonna see all he cares about is control and having more power!! And if he is willing to do that to Disney..,small business’s are gonna be in big trouble if they allow him to do that… especially if you may be a rival or have a difference of opinion!! JUST SAD!!

  416. Disney is NOT what it was when I was a child. I’m 61 and I’m APPALLED at Disney’s woke culture. NO company should back any movement that is based in SEX!. The very FOUNDATION of the alphabet cult is SEX! This is a child’s playground and just because the world has gone insane, is even MORE of a reason for an established CHILDRENs playground to buck the system. Go away Disney. Just go away, you make me sick. GO DESANTIS!

  417. Melissa

I really hope Disney moves. I’m a life long Floridian and annual pass holder. Every corporation has tax breaks, concessions and skirts laws. A governor with a personal vendetta wasting our tax money to attack a large corporation is so disgusting and petty. How about working on the economy, skyrocketing cost of living, stabilizing rent.

  418. Carol

DeSantis has destroyed any hope of a political career!!! Especially President!!!! If this is what he is focused on, I really feel sorry for the state of Florida! He is focused on Disney rather than the people!!!!! BIG MISTAKE –
    HUGE MISTAKE!!!!!

  419. Disney World was overpriced and over rated. Stand in line for 1 hour for a 2 minute ride. ?? Pay exorbitant prices for reheated food ? Who wants to sign up for that ? Lots of parents drank the Koolaid.

  420. Kay

Disney World is no place for disabled! Transportation within the park is shameful. Disney execs think they can get away with anything! I hope the governor teaches them a lesson!

  421. Paul

Gov. DeSantis is a classic example of “Small Mind, Big Ego” politicians. All because Disney had the guts to disagree with the bigoted BS coming out of the governor’s mouth. The man is thin skinned and a danger to democratic values. So much for respecting free speech , Ron.

  422. De santis (De Diablis) is acting like a dictator governor. He does not care about the many people that make a living thank to Disney.

  423. Taylor

This is why we have courts of law to sell disputes between the companies and governments

  424. Taylor

The governor who won the election by a landslide, despite Disney’s corporate attacks and funding of opposition. Sounds like most of the people of Florida feel he is protecting them, and their children from radical indoctrination into a culture most people in the US are appalled by. Anheuser-Busch has learned something with regard to Bud Light that Disney doesn’t seem to get. But then Disney’s the new old CEO Bob Iger is the one who put them on this path so they’re not likely to change and people will vote with their dollars as they did at The Ballot Box. This is capitalism and our constitutional government at work. Chill out everyone

  425. Deva

I think with the price of Disney that everything Disney offers should be safe for all people to ride on including their monorails or whatever and they should be inspected

  426. Greg Davies

Ron Desantis is correct. It is so sad that Disney has to get involved in politics. They have signed up to be partners with the Devil. Corporations have no business getting involved in politics or left wing movements.

  427. Allan

Ok by me. Disney has become dangerous to our children’s morality.

  428. Zach

Disney is not moving anywhere. The only ‘rumors’ are coming from disgruntled bloggers like this, that are really just Disney super-fans trying to escape reality. If the world’s largest media conglomerate wants to push a political agenda, they should expect political retaliation.

  429. Bob

Or stop your woke BS agenda. Is this article, like most garbage media, leaves out why DeSantis is at war with Disney. But what do you expect from an organization founded by an Anti Semite

  430. Rschult298

Sure is alot of liberal views on this site.i live in florida and there isnt a shot in hell of them leaving there billion dollar properties.that they paid pennies on the dollar for it by the way.so give up your pipe dream.there going NO WHERE.

  431. Paul S.

If the monorail. etc. are safe and well maintained why worry about an inspection?
Probably FL would have been better off checking to see that kids are not being lured by an unfenced beach design into the jaws of a an alligator or crocodile. Tragically, too late on that one.
Not sure why Disney expects to act like a sovereign nation within its park boundaries.
I enjoyed my visit there years ago. But if all is as it should be, Disney should welcome safety oversight. There’s nothing to hide, right?…right?
Imagine a restaurant saying they refuse to allow inspections. Would you want to eat there?

  432. Pam

People across the globe wish Disney could pick it all up and create the magic elsewhere. Most of us outside of Florida see the political antics there as a big embarrassment. It’s a shame but be patient; it won’t last forever.

  433. Greg

Disney should pack up and leave they charge way too much money get the heck out of Florida don’t ever come mad

  434. Donna Sammario

DeSantis has gotten very full of himself he’s trying to show his power in the state in the meantime what he is doing is making a fool of himself this state was created as a tourism Mecca Disney world is only a part but a very very large part of that tourism dollar and if DeSantis doesn’t get off his high horse and he ever loses Disney world and the corporation that brings so much money into this state he will be very sorry in the end one of my reasons for moving to Florida was Disney world my children enjoyed it every long weekend and every vacation family members came to visit to go there and some of my family spends a lot of time in that place so just Santas get off your high horse and leave Disney alone

  435. Killer

Ronny is a arseole much like Donny

  436. Rcw

Florida voters voted for this man! Unfortunately U get what U voted 4! This Governor [no this irrationally dictictor] will tell U what 2 read, what 2 watch, what to listen 2 where U like it or not. U like the man? Feel free to vote 4 him again!

  437. Mark

Why did they get political? Oh I don’t know maybe because of their freedom of speech. Maybe because they pump millions of dollars into the Florida economy. They had every right to protect their RIGHTS and their employees rights.

  438. Steve

Desantis needs to grow up and quit acting like a spoiled rich kid that gets his way all the time. He is acting like a bully. Shame on those who follow his lead. He should be looking at all the theme parks in Florida, but it is evident that he is targeting Disney. He needs to be stopped, his behavior is so childish and is effecting the lives of many that work for the Disney company. The first ammendment doesn’t seem to mean anything. This is supposed to be a democracy not a dictatorship government. Why doesn’t the congress step in and control this tyrant and stop persuing petty issues. The state of Florida gave Disney these privlileges to get them there and he wants to take them away to get them out. Unbelieveable!!!

  439. E. Hector

I wouldn’t be too certain that Disney would stay. With a tax bill of 1.1 billion for Walt Disney World Resort in Florida last year alone, and the losses incurred during covid, it may well be in Disney’s best interest to shut it down and sell the land. They have over 8k of undeveloped land as well as an entire city they could make a tidy sum from. Disney World is only a small portion of the Disney empire, and they seem to be trending more toward media than bricks and mortar. The 4 amusement parks are pretty much a valentine to Walt, anyway. We’ll see, but DiSantis needs to mind his steps. He seems to not be very good at being governor and handling business. Has he ever even had a non-government paycheck in his life?

  440. I don’t understand how DeSantis, can continue to act illegally, with such retaliatory measures against an enterprise, any enterprise. He’s a crook, a blow, hard, and too stupid to realize he’s doing the state of Florida no good. He’s a shameful human being Florida’s getting ready to look like the handmaid’s tale, wake up everyone.

  441. His state is going to be underwater within the next 10 to 20 years, good riddance to him and his Republican cronies friends. Sorry, everybody else lives there, but we need a good purge.

  442. Missouri Girl

DiSantes is crazy and Florida needs to get rid of him! God help us if he runs for President!

  443. Donna

    Really??
He is just a real piece of work
He just feels the need to bully everyone and everything in Florida
Because he is not getting his way
He needs to take his ball and go home
    Grow up already,
I hope to God he doesn’t make president
    He’s a full

  444. Carson

If Gavin Newsom, Governor of California, had any sense, or good advisors, (which is doubtful), he would personally call Bob Iger now and set up a meeting to discuss keeping Disney in Southern California, halting the Disney relocation to Florida. Two great outcomes from this; #1) Disney stays in Calif, where its roots in animation, film, entertainment, parks, merchandise, etc., first started, and all where their important resources are based: design, creative, talent, CGI, technical support, fabrication, studios, editing, representation, support services, etc! Most importantly because YOU CAN’T TRANSPLANT CULTURE!! You cant cut this entity off at the roots ands expect it grow in a new location. Especially when that move is based on money, not improving the process!! #2) If Newsome wants to accelerate his campaign for POTUS, this move would be rocket fuel to that journey, surpassing the knuckle head De Santis. No political endorsement her, I am not a fan of either candidates.

  445. Helen

Disney is over priced. And they layoff 7000 workers i could care less if they leave. If it wasn’t for those hard working cast members there wouldn’t be no magic. De santis is ridiculous too he should leave too.

  446. Sharon

Everything started going bad when the Disney Company hired that moron ,who’s name I cant remember, as CEO. He ruined alot! Still hasn’t been put back right. DeSantis should have stayed out of it! It’s all getting worse. I won’t go to Disney until they fix their problems.

  447. If Disney would have stayed as child entertainment instead of becoming politically woke, they wouldn’t be having these problems! We don’t want our children to be pushed into this sexually awakened environment that Disney represents! Let kids be kids and stop pushing them into sexuality at such a young age! Stay true to Walt and let kids use their childhood experiences and fun amusement parks to stay innocent as long as possible! Stop pushing them to make grown up decisions and change their sex to fit in! Even your suggestions through subconscious manipulation needs to stop!
